I'm sorry MODs if this is in the wrong place, but what I've found throughout the forums is alot of polls that show neither of the Custom ROMS I've used..... and at the rate these polls are made, 3 to 4 new custom ROMS come out either daily or weekly... Like I said before MODs, if this thread is in the wrong place I apologize.
Now to my phone... I currently have Lime-Light (GB 2.3.3 with boot-loaders for Samsung-19000) and I have to say, the visuals and speed have been speed up.... Quick boot-loading after a few restarts, which I do every night. Battery life is awesome as well, music player on while playing Angry Birds RIO for about an hour and lost maybe 15% battery life. I have used Froyo (Stock Update), Serendipity6.3,Phoenix Unleashed, Apex 6.0 (Second Favorite), Firefly 2.9, Gingerbread Stock (2.3.3 from Samsung-19000), and I would have to say out of all, Lime-Light (2.3.3) AKA Purple_Licious is the best to me which you can find here if you like http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1060153.
Tell me, whats your favorite Custom ROM?
Some advice, if your going to try the Gingerbread Stock 2.3.3 for Captivate from 19000 I recommend following every instruction to the TEE.

there have been MANY theads about this
EVERY ONE gets closed!
and usually [Q]uestions go in Questions and Answers...
each rom has its own features and objectives,
each user has their own preferences as well so its all oppinion and not necessary.
next each GB rom right now has their own install directions.
yours that you posted will only confuse the already mixed situation.
and we also know where to find the roms we dont need links to them.
if we dont, we shouldnt be flashing.

Hey you guys I am running on 2.3.3 gingerbread, and I am looking for a rom that best fits me.
I want a fast rom, with decent battery life. I usually use my phone to browse the web and as a music player, a stable and for the most part lag free rom would be nice, and I also want all of the bloatware gone.
So can you guys please help me out, I would greatly appreciate it.
Thanks
Well yeah.... I believe everyone here wants that ROM. This should be in Q&A, not General.
That being said, the stock 2.3.3 KF1 ROM is pretty nice, just remove the bloatware yourself. I'm guessing Serendipity 7 is nice too, I loved 6.4 on Froyo but when I flashed Gingerbread I wanted to stay with the Captivate bootloaders so I haven't tried Serendipity 7 yet.

wrong... this thread should not exist whatsoever. the reason why is even in the thread title Its whats best fits YOU noone on here is you, therefor noone will know what you will like best.
run a quick search for 'best rom' you will see that threads like this get closed pretty much instantly.
I am looking for a new or used car. It needs to be cheap, run great, look great, and be comfortable to drive. Do any car manufacturers make something like that?

The only Person that can tell what rom is best for you is you. Please search before opening a new thread as you would have found all these threads are closed on sight.

hi so ive had my epic 4g for over a year now and i love it, but due to some recent issues that i have been having with it sprint is sending me a new nexus s 4g
im not familiar with the nexus community and just needed some advice on what were some good roms and kernels to use for my device to get the best performance/battery on my phone.
any help would be greatly appreciated has i await my phone to arrive at my house today.
thanks in advance

Everybody has different tastes and desires so try a few ROMs to see what works best for you.
Everybody seems to go for either NSCollab or brainmaster's MIUI. I personally run brainmaster's MIUI with trinity euv, which is a great kernel for battery life. All the info you need is in brainmaster's thread.

So I know, bits and pieces have been posted in the 20 threads or so, but I'm curious if someone can explain a couple things. I'm wanting to get away from Infused because I've had the slow network performance and lag many people have discussed, but the devs don't seem like they're interested in working those issues, which is a shame, because the whole "4G" on a "4G" speed phone is somewhat important, heeh.
I am on Infused 2.3.3 (so it's already converted the file system to the ext4 or whatever), and I'm on the latest UCKI3 radio.
1) How would I go about upgrading to MIUI? Since I've done all the steps to get Infused on, do I need to go back to the factory stock and then flash MIUI, or what's the best method of doing it? I want to make sure I get the full benefit like the network speed, etc.
2) What radio is built into the ROM? Do I also need to re-flash a radio?
3) Regarding kernels, I see some comments that I'd need to flash a new\better kernel to take full advantage of the network speeds and phone's features. Can I get a brief explanation and advice on this?
I wish there was a "MIUI 101" thread like most of the other ROMs have... makes it really easy to open and see the steps to install from the various methods and points from which it'd be installed, as well as FAQs to address questions like the ones I've posed above.
Thanks all for your help!
Bella
Hi Bella. There already is a FAQ for MIUI thread on this forum. There's already a MIUI Q&A for Infuse thread. You can head over there and leave your question there as it's more likely more people will view that thread than this one. Some people consider may consider this question "out of place" and won't even bother read/glance through/answer you're question.
I simply flashed MIUI like any other ROM. No need to go back to stock and then to MIUI.

I am new to flashing, but I want to get ICS on my Samsung Captivate which will not receive an official 4.0 update from Samsung. There are multiple options for ICS roms; the two I have heard most about are Doc Master's and Team Hacksung's CM9 (alpha). Please leave comments as to the general stability for the most up to date versions of the roms if you have experience with them. I am not interested in a buggy rom; i want one that is stable and that has most/all functions. I am a little bit confused on both forums for these roms how stable these roms are. Especially Doc Master's (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1462035). It does not list any specific bugs for the versions; does this mean everything works? I'm new to this so I am confused.
Also, if I would flash one of these ICS roms and decide it is too buggy, or I don't want it anymore, can I get back to my stock Gingerbread 2.3.5 (what I currently have). If so, how? Is the best way to make a nandroid backup of my stock rom (does that work for stock?)? If not, what is.
I appreciate your help.
Help please!
Bump. I really would appreciate any help.

ICS rom
I have flashed the 2 roms you asked about. I liked them both until I found Dark Knights ICS 4.0.4. Everything works and it is smooth and fast. I have tried others also, I also liked MIUI but Dark Knights is the best so far for me.
If you search XDA you will find the answers to your other questions. You just have to be willing to read a few threads. When I started I screwed up just about every way you can think of and someone was willing to help me out.
If you go to You tube and search for videos on how to flash your Captivate, many will come up (I am a visual person). Look for videos from Josh at Mobile Tech Videos. He knows what he is talking about and is a great help.
It would probably be better if you posted this question in the captivate forums.
I would post the link but I don't have the power to do that yet.
As for your question, I am currently running the CM9 Alpha version and am loving it. It has been my daily driver for quite some time and I would definitely recommend using this ROM.
All of your questions can be found in the captivate forums. You'll have to read a lot but it's better to read more so you know what you're getting yourself in to.
