Does anyone else have this problem? On aosp roms, when you are in a call, you sometimes accidently hit the mute button with your cheek? Because this **** happens to me all the time! It is so annoying! I even started using no-sense roms again that use the htc dialer. But all of the other roms are not as smooth as ginger beast . Is there anyway someone can change the framework of the dialer?

I feel ya. I hit a button no matter which rom I use. The proximity sensor blows for sure. Only phone I ever had that was good about this was my Nokia 5800.
You pretty much have to keep the phone perfectly still on your face to avoid the screen coming on.
Hitting the lock button is an annoyance because when you hang up you either have to let the caller hang up or unlock againand hang up yourself. I wish it worked as intended.

Yeah, I've done it numerous times (on the stock rom as well). I'm looking for a way to get the stock rom's dialer to work on the rom I'm using; it was fantastic.
Go to settings, call settings, check always use proximity. That helped me a lot. Hasn't happened since. Someone said checking left hand mode helps also.

My Mytouch4g is currently unrooted and does all kinds of stuff I need it to do especially cause I have launcher pro and all sorts of apps to tweak out the feature. But the one thing that's missing that I find really annoying is it lacks simple task switching multitasking. I hate having to swipe down that Notifications drawer to get to "Recent apps" to switch back between my gTalk and browser or the radio or whatever. Sometimes I'll have my Tvlistings open to check out a channel then get a text message and gtalk and I'll want to switch between apps much easier.
Is there any rom, apps, kernels, tweaks out there that support this? This phone is so powerful I'm sure its capable. My ipad 1 had only 256mb and had way sub-par multitasking than this phone (in terms of memory and things running in the background) but it was still decent. If there's some app like "backgrounder" or something where you hit the HOME button twice to bring up recent apps or something, that would solve everything!
Any ideas?
Also, there are SO many roms and mods on the development page I don't even know what they mean. Which one is considered the "Best" right now in terms of everything working without bugs and lots of performance flexibility and customization? CM7?
I'm fairly noob still so bear with me.
Hold down the home button.

U can root ur phone and just flash a custom kernal. This way, u still have the stock rom and speed beyond what ur seeing right now, especially with faux's new kernals. Just be sure to make a back up from the beginning and u may do pretty much whatever u like as far as switching between roms and back to stock if u don't like it. But try wave launcher from the market. It would solve the quick access prob. U can launch any app in a snap, from any window. Not just recent apps like holding the home key does.

Thanks! I just got wave launcher.
How do you know which kernal is the best? I have heard of faux from some youtube video but other than overclock, I'm not sure what makes one better than another.
I'm very curious on how to make my phone look completely like its not an android phone. I see all these screen shots and they look nothing like the roms I see.
I think most of them say it miui bit there lock screen are all so crazy looking and just overall the way they setup the phone looks awsome.
Can anyone give me tips or point me In a direction where I can read more about it thanks.

when i am not working on my personal builds i run the following setup:
(i am so going to get some major flack for this, but i dont care, its functional and i like it. )
MIUI + Launcher7 + MIUI WP7 Lockscreen
i like the simplicity of WP7, ease of use, but i heart android in every other way.....
My favorite lockscreen is the CM7 Lockscreen Gestures with "Disable unlock slider" selected. All it displays is the simple time and battery stats, the rest of the space is blank for gestures, I have one that mutes the phone, one that turns on the flashlight, and on that unlocks it. It's fast and easy to unlock and no one could ever figure out how to do it.
Yeah android is the way to go all the way. Preferably HTC. Thanks ya.
IPhone to the inspire. Rock solid.

People generally complain that the SGS4G doesn't have an LED for notifications, which is why so many praise BLN support.
For those who can't live without it, there's another solution that I've tried WAY back, even before we had CWM (even before I posted on this forum ). It might not be as pretty, but it's a notification light.
NoLED: https://market.android.com/details?id=com.led.notify&hl=en
This app pretty much puts a little dot or image on your screen as a notification. Works on both Froyo and GB.
I've attached the .apk file, in case if there are some people doing a fresh flash.
Have fun!
I love this NoLed app!
Yes nice effin app thank u

Let's hope that gets rid of the no BLN complaints on GB.

I would prefer to have BLN because it uses less power, plus i always had issues getting this app to work.
Couldnt get it to wotk with octaine

Can anyone else comment on the effects of this app on battery life? It looks like something could definitely use but I'm a stickler when it comes to anything that drains my battery.
I didn't notice any battery drain but then again I never got the damn thing working.
This app seems to drain battery a little more than bln. Got it working on "GB beautiful" though anything that is not a standard call or SMS seems a little sporadic on actually putting a notification icon on the screen. Would prefer bln but this is better than nothing.
Sent from my SGH-T959V using XDA App
I installed it to give it a try. It's been working well for the most part, but it seems like when I have a notification it replaces my normal lock screen with this icon screen. I'm not sure if that's how it's supposed to work or not. So basically when an icon is being displayed I have to hit the home button to go to the home screen, but if I hit the lock button it does not return me to the lock screen, which is somewhat annoying at the moment but I'm sure I will get used to it.
Honestly, I only used NoLED for like, 10 minutes. After a while, I felt the icons looked a bit ridiculous and it might've drained significant battery life, so I removed it.
For those that can't seem to get it to work, try rebooting your device. That was in the app instructions, I believe. Afterwards, turn it on through the app. You could test it yourself by sending yourself an email, text, or whatever. There's a decent amount of settings you can play with.
Also, it should work with all ROMs that we have. I don't think there's anything in the ROMs that would prevent it anyways.
Hell yeah i forgot about this app. First thing I used for LED notifications on G2X. And it's pretty funny to see your friends faces bouncing around your screen if you have a pic for their caller ID. I get ****ty battery life anyways with Valhalla black so a little worse won't kill me. But FYI guys that say it's not working... on the market app page it says "requires default android lock screen to work" so maybe thats the issue
i use this on my sgs4g and have no excess battery usage and it works flawlessly
Digging up this old thread as i'm currently having bln withdrawals on Kyndig's pacman rom. It seems to work ok so far it's only been a day but it hasn't rebooted my phone yet and I can't really tell if battery life is affected or not. It also turns on the capacitive keys... never used it before but I wonder if it's supposed to do that?

Also it is kind of annoying that you can't use the power button...
I have only noticed this question asked for a sense 3.6 ics rom in probably 2 forums and i noticed they didnt get that much response from the developers that were asked. But as i noticed a few others have been wondering, i would also like to ask, is there any type of way on sense 3.6 to add a mod like on RCMix version sense 3.5 where you can use the volume rocker for the camera key. This would be great and the only mods out there is one that is on the market and you have to set the volume key to the camera but it dont work to either turn the volume up or down, which ever button you choose. I chose up seeing i could just press down once and use my finger to turn it up on the screen after it pops up, pretty easy actually and worth the nice option. Plus down and power together are used alot and didn't want to screw up any functions that included the volume down action. if there is a way with an app to implement this i know there has to be a smart dev out there that can implement what this app uses permanently in the rom but make it so the volume key is used normally when out of camera or cam mode. Thanks for any help. Plus seeing this is my 10th post now, maybe i could even work with someone on creating this as i unleash my amazing knowledge to Xda that no one would of expected i have. Had to ask serious questions though some may need to know there. Here i come god dammit Xda.

I've flashed a lot of roms on my phone and on most of them led buttons (home, back, search... at the bottom of the phone doesnt light up when you navigate through phone...can someone tell me why is this so and if you can fix it somehow by your own?
Sorry if this thread is already up, i havent seen it...
They aren't meant to light up in normal use. They are only meant to light up when the room is dark.

Can you tell us what is your current ROM please?
I had the same problem in CyanogenMod9, when I turned off the autobrightness. Somebody tells that it's because of sweep2wake function. By the way, when brightness is auto - everything works fine.
As far as i remember, on stock rom, those buttons always lighted up, and on my last 3 roms now they never did. I'm currently using Primos-s, but before i had Runny sense 3.5 rom, and didn't work too. i find this thing very annoying because i have to blind guess everytime... I have auto-brightness turned on, and still these buttons neve rlight up, even in dark.
In some Roms like Endymion which I use there's a tweak for the brightness at which the buttons light up. In stock they only lit up in complete darkness. Hopefully it works the same in Fallout ..
Tapa2 desire s
I'd be very happy if they light up only in darkness, but now they never do...hopefully, on the next rom i'll use they will work

As mentioned above, some ROMs have implemented tweaks so they will only light up in very dark conditions. In my opinion, this is even better.
Try another ROM.
