for me anyway....
I couldn't sleep so I spent some time reading the galaxy s forums for fixes we could do to our Infuse's froyo that didn't involve flashing a different kernel, if you know if any more please post up.
FuguTweaks - I had been setting my own memory settings in "galaxy tuner" to leave about 100mb free of "EA" memory, this helped speed up the phone quite a bit and takes care of the "lag" we get when only about 60mb is free. I then found this FugyTweak and it seems even better. It only leaves me about 80mb free but much better than stock.
Browser Lag - I used the non mobile version of engadget to benchmark before and after, it does seem to stutter less.
CM6 mms.apk - I have never been a fan of the TW mms app, cm6 set to black theme works great!
I mentioned galaxy tuner earlier, you can get it in the market and the LCD color adjustments do work if you want to tune your screen, I haven't made it that far yet. I also haven't tried the 3d sound thing.
Please try everything at your own risk, I have no idea if any of this will eventually turn my/your phone into a flesh hunting screamer.
I would not recommend that browser lag fix for the Infuse. That was for a very specific problem that early Captivate Froyo builds had. Don't think the Infuse suffers from the problem that needed fixing there. I think I'm a good person to trust on that specific topic as well.
This post has to be the best one so far to ME! I did not know about the app galaxy tuner. I was able to make the screen look WHITE when I dim it all the way down. Before it was like egg white sort of color. Also the 3d sound and EQ worked perfectly!
Thanks OP!
Has anyone else been succefful in using the mms.apk? I've fixed permissions and everything but it will still only take me to the defualt screen where you see all your messages. When I click on a thread it goes black and does nothing.

There was an app I had on my Nook Color that was similar to Galaxy Tuner.. It was made for the Nexus One and it let you adjust the color of the LCD a bit. Does anyone know the name? I'm dying to use it on my Infuse!
Hey all,
I have tested every single third-party camera app out there and I personally found Camera 360 to be the best. Vignette runs perfectly on this phone but I honestly hate it. I don't see why people like this replacement so much.
Anyways,
I have used Camera360 a few days now and have tried really hard to get it stable. It simply isn't. It crashes constantly at any point during every single launch and use. And forget it if you happen to get a notification of any type! It will instantly crash and freeze the screen with error. Doesn't matter what type of app is sending the notification. It happens every single time.
I really love this Camera app as a replacement to the default app. Has many cool features. However, wondering if anyone with this phone has gotten it to work 100% stable?
I've tried everything and applied a number of changes and/or tweaks I found online but none help. After it crashes, if I go in and delete the cache from the application and launch it again, it work a bit better and much longer before it eventually locks up my phone again.
Any tips to get this working would be great!
Thanks!

camera360 works perfectly on mine......ive always loved the app
GS2 LTE
SkyRocketICS6.9.1
faux kernal 2.6.35.14
kr3g3r,
Thanks for the comments. Anything special you had to do? Has it EVER crashed on you?
I just don't understand. Why? Well I tested it out when I got the phone, tested it after rooting and tested it again today after so many changes and heavy modification. Still highly unstable. The instant freeze and reboot when a notification comes in is super annoying.
Anyone else have an issue or some suggestions to get this working properly?
Thanks,
--mike
I also have no problems with Camera360, I just installed it and used it, didn't have any special config. Using TPC v3 on Rogers S2 LTE.
Total noob question, Camera 360 Ultimate?
For some reason I thought it was a paid app, if it's free I am in.
djtyres,
It is actually completely free!
The reason I posted this is because I did try all other options, including all the paid apps. I found this one to be the best.
Man, I wish it wasn't so damn unstable.
I am hoping that someone here can provide some sort of solution.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I727 using Tapatalk
Did you try deleting and reinstalling the app? Camera360 runs perfectly on my Skyrocket (stock). Also, are you running if from the internal memory or have you moved it to the microSD card? And where is your default picture folder?
Hi Budge,
Yep...trust me...I have done everything. I uninstalled the app and went into all directories (I'm rooted) and found every single trace of it, including cache, and deleted everything. I then rebooted and re-installed. It was working fine for about 5 minutes and then it crashed again.
After some research, I found some who stated to go into app management and clear the cache. I did that and it still crashed.
As far as your other questions...
I install all my apps on internal memory only. I tried it with the default directory and with a custom path to the external SD card...still no luck man. It really is upsetting, considering just how many hours I have spent trying to fix this. That should tell you how much I really was impressed with it.

Thanks, already playing with it, had 2 crashes but only when I was messing with settings.
Crash...
LOL! See, I told ya so. I just can't figure it out.
Keep me posted...I'm curious as to how well it works for you.
If possible and you have some free time, test it the following way...
Load the app and start fiddling with all menus and all available features. In the process of doing this, take a few pictures with the new settings you chose and preview it and then go back quickly to main app and keep messing with it. Wondering if that will make it crash with you? As I stated, a very quick and simple test is to send yourself a notification of some sort (SMS, Email, App sync, etc.). Let me know if it survives! Notifications I have have both a ringtone and set to always vibrate.

I really like this app, been using it over a year now. Still running it on my SR with no issues. I'm rooted and running Sky ICS right now with Faux's kernel.
I see you have done a lot of clearing caches and this and that.... but have you tried fixing permissions thru Rom Manager? Every rom I flash, I make sure the first thing I do when the phone settles in, is fix permissions. Fixing permissions almost always solves any force close or crashing issues I may have. Even if I download a new app, I fix permissions to be safe. If you haven't tried this yet, hope it helps. Good luck....
yeah fixing permissions and clearing caches properly makes a huge difference when you flash anything.........but not just clearing caches in the app.....in CWM
also.......are you running any camera mods? and which rom?......or are ya stock?
Mine works as long as I do not change brightness.
The camera mods is a good thing to look into. I may be running ics camera apk

Hi,
Thanks for the info...
Yes, I've tried that on occasion. Do you do it from CWM? Or do you fix permissions on the individual app itself? I've done this through ROM Toolbox.
The think is I do not run custom ROMs. I have stock ROM modified and rooted to my liking. No custom Kernel either.
Camera360 is excellent on this phone....I use it as default...unless I want a specific metering....camera360 crashes on me when trying to choose metering...otherwise it works perfect...and the results are better than stock....one big bonus with camera360 is being able to choose ISO50 where stock app only lets you choose ISO100 as the lowest. And the ISO50 setting clearly works.

Damn, that comment didn't help much! LOL. I really want to get it working man. I think I have installed it over 10 times now. Still not stable. Also, any notification will freeze and crash the app. Does it run for you even after some kind of notification in background??
Also, curious why you would use ISO 50 with this camera though?

Lower ISO settings is best for when you already have plenty of light entering your sensor. You would use a higher ISO in low light conditions to make your sensor more sensitive to light thus giving you a faster shutter speed to help prevent blur. The trade off to a higher ISO is more noise in your image...the lower the ISO the less noise in your image but also a slower shutter speed....which is fine as long as you already have enough light.

I know stock roms have always been considered "laggy" and this official gingerbread seems to be not very responsive on the screen, choppy, crappy framerate with motion.
I have used custom roms mostly up to this point, but several times have ran stock froyo while in between custom roms and it never seemed this laggy, choppy, unresponsive...whatever you want to call it.
Just wondered if anyone else felt the same way. Obviously stock gingerbread probably has better features and things than froyo, but it just seems like stock froyo runs so much better.
Whats the odds they are going to maintain this rom and actually release bug fixes and maintenance updates?
Anyways, ill be headed back to Zeus.
No lag at all with the official GB on my Infuse...actually everything is very smooth.
I hated Froyo and didn't consider it useable.
Note I did do a factory reset after upgrading to GB then installed all my apps.
BUT, if it's not working for ya...certainly go the leaked GB or Zeus...can't lose with those ROMS.
I agree on the screen part, but the system is,overall faster, a lot faster.
Yes, I think touch is,less responsive and Swype is not so satisfying(look at those commas). Space size is smaller and the comma is on the left position of old space
I guess that I have,to press harder in order to be recognized, but when I got used to it, I almost never miss a touch.
I still think it's good to upgrade. The camera app that I like is still there. I used launcherpro to block all those att bloatwares so I don't care if there is any addition.

Its been very snappy for me. I use go Launcher with about 8-10 apps constantly updating in the background, and have never experienced any stutter. Zero screen lag for me. Maybe your throwing too much at your phone at once? idk
Its been pretty amazing. Att apps represent maybe like 4 apps? I just hide or ignore them. No big deal. Anyhow, Ive had 75%+ battery life over the last two days WITHOUT charging!!! ! NICE!
loving this official rom. Although I like all the ICS themed framework from zeus, im not willing to leave this official rom for it. loving it!

Whooooaaaa... Didnt know there were so many haters on here! LOL! Ok ok Ill say it was more of like 1.5 days. I unplugged yesterday at around 11 am. Used internet a little. Mostly downloaded a bunch of apps, was transferring .png files to it for like 5 hours off and on using wifi file browser. checked facebook. went through several features.
--Looking at my phone now and its like at maybe 35%, When I posted earlier I was just looking at the battery icon and it looked to be just above 50%. Could have been 50%. Either way, I dont think thats bad at all. I couldnt go a full day before without charging regardless of what rom im on.
btw i use a black background on my device with almost 0 widgets save for a pulse reader widget which i have on manual update.
So am I a liar? I certainly dont think so. Are there a lot of people here who find this official rom pointless? probably. Im not one of those people fortunately. Seems rather unfortunate that after such a long time of waiting, some people dont want to grab the official rom. I havent found one thing to dislike about it. But thats just me. Maybe Im special? If so then, kindly disregard this post.
No offense to anyone btw. And sure Ill be looking to the future development of this rom for custom stuff and tweaks. But till then, and maybe after, Im sticking with the stability and performance.
No development from me off the "official" from me considering Zeus is already running the same system. . If we get source is the only time you'll see any more updates from the devs ....

No lag here, have you thought about doing a factory reset before complaining. You'll need to start clean, backing up data on a Froyo rom and then loading it on a gb rom is just making the new rom dirty. Start clean!
You need to let the new firmware settle. **** isn't going to be super fast when you first install it. 10mins isn't enough, try 3 days then come back and *****

I do happen to text more frequently then others
i would like to know what the forum users of XDA Choose as their roms of their picking
I personally am having great expectations of JellyBelly
Hopefully v4 won't disappoint your great expectations
I'm sure jellbelly will meet or exceed expectations. I have been trying all the JB builds in this forum and it is the smoothest running so far. I have had issues with them all locking up sometimes but this one does it the least and is the only one that hasn't forced a battery pull.

I've Used, JellyBelly for a bit it still has the keyboard issue where if you hit the cap button once it will lock into All CAPS For the whole message and you have to toggle it many times to get it to unlock from caps or you just have to Hold the Shift ( Cap ) Button to Cap a letter and let it go.
I've also ran into a few problems . with the FN some Options such as the _ Underscore will not appear in some log in Selection boxes. i have to manually go to my soft touch keyboard and key it in by long pressing the Symbol.
None the less dont get me wrong its a great rom hands down. I would like to see those little kinks worked out.
Sorry man, but that's the way the keyboard is on JB, you gotta hold the shift or fn key down like on the computer.

It has been that way for me on every JB ROM, with random times that it works correctly... IDK. Either way, I will probably not be doing any more work on JB until it is less buggy. It's just a headache when bugs pop up out of nowhere, some of the weird bugs aren't ROM specific either. Sorry guys, but it kinda takes the fun out of it when you are constantly fixing bugs. I may do one more update, but I don't know when that will be. For now I'll let the devs that are more talented than me see if they can work out some kinks, my main objective with JellyBelly was to reduce the lag so JB was more usable.

I tried V6 just now, unfortunately I am not able to post in the thread as my account has less than 10 posts but I have run into a few issues with it thus far. The animations and scrolling are very choppy, this may be related to the "screen flickering" problems listed so i'll have to check the build.prop and make sure everything is as it is supposed to be there. As well, i've ran into a bug where upon backing out of the camera (which I use frequently), all icons and widgets vanish until phone reboot. That's quite a big problem! It's a fast ROM no doubt, and probably the best JB based ROM we have ATM.

After the phone reboot I tried to force the camera bug again so I could screenshot it for bilgerryan but it hasn't shown back up yet. Will be continuing to test, really loving this room so far I just wish it was as smooth as the one I was using previously (RemICS-UX ReVamped).
I guess it could be a bad dl. You might try down loading again over WiFi or hard line then reflashing.

Will give it a shot after I set aside some time and check the build.prop gpu tweak you mentioned in the topic, even though that may be outdated and no longer needed by v6. I did however have the camera back-out glitch happen again. When leaving the camera, no icons or widgets render. I was able to fix it this time by reopening the camera from the lock screen and backing out, but still very irritating and interesting behavior.

I was able to fix it this time by reopening the camera from the lock screen and backing out, but still very irritating and interesting behavior.

Yeah it should not be needed in v6.. What are your CPU settings? If you haven't overclocked it you might wanna set it at 1.2 or 1.3 GHz. I haven't been able to reproduce the camera thing you are talking about. Chad might be right. Looks like a bad download.
I went from the HTC One to this, and I am a little disappointed here. The HTC One was beautiful, great, etc, but I went with this phone for a a more future proof reason. The thing I am confused about is how is this phone lagging? The One did not lag, and I am not by any means trying to start up a debate between the two, but why does this phone lag? Anybody experiencing odd lag? (opening closing apps have a hiccup, widgets, scrolling)
The screen seems to have a good amount of ghosting, but I assume that is because this is a PenTile super saturated screen, so it won't be as smooth movement as an LCD screen. (I freakin' love this screen, by the way)
Also, Samsung, I know if I raise the volume it could possible damage my ears, quit popping a message up every time I do this.
Also...
For the stock browser and Chrome, the screen slightly dims itself upon opening, doesn't do it with Firefox though.
Small things, small gripes. These small grips bothering anyone else?
It seems odd, this is my first Samsung device, but it seems like it's not a consistent experience. It just launched, I know, but I did not think one of the big brands would have these issues.

Yup, bloatware. My Galaxy S3 running CM 10.1 was FAST. Patiently waiting.
well htc one is in android 2.1 now it may have the same problem when you upgrade to 4.2 I guess .
To solve the lag, you may turn on Force Gpu option in developer setting, but it causes battery.

That did nothing, but I changed the animations to 0.5x and they go so quick, I don't notice it anymore. I sincerely hope that Samsung/AT&T push out something to fix this, I don't feel like a phone with an overclocked Snapdragon 600 should be going through this.
Set animations to zero and the phone will be even quicker. You won't miss a thing. Good luck.
The lag is very bad. It really makes me wanna throw this device against the wall. Coming from an S3 and Note 2 this feels like a huge downgrade, seriously.
I do know though that now that the boot loader has been unlocked, developers can start making custom roms. That and I know there will be many updates. The lag will not last forever.

That doesn't do anything. The browser, messaging app, and gallery all lag within. Samsung needs to properly optimize their software for the Snapdragon 600.
If your using Nova launcher, go to Nova Settings - Look and Feel - App Animations. Change it to ICS or slide. This has removed any stutter for me with the opening and closing app transitions.

You guys aren't addressing his main problem. He's upset about lag within the apps themselves.
To Op, just be patient and either Samsung or devs here will address it. It's clearly software related.
Also, the screen darkening happens if you have certain battery saving things turned on. Is your energy saver on?

I think he's concerned about a few things. Stuttering as I mentioned before. He mentions opening and closing apps have a hiccup. See below.

I've completely disabled any energy saving, even auto adjust screen tone. This happens only with Chrome and stock browsers. It's a light dimming from brightness being full, seemed odd.

Yes, you're right. They have an odd stutter. The sad thing is, we shouldn't have to do anything to stop this from happening. lol
Also, the stutters happen even when opening/closing/navigating the settings, and I saw it stutter a few times closing the app drawer, that one surprised me.
How do you guys feel about the ghosting/tracers on text or objects when moving quickly?
Oh wow, Force GPU actually did it for me. Thanks! Lol

The whole thing stutters pretty bad. Can't wait for the bootloader unlock an roms.
Pretty rare to see a guy from BG KY on the boards.
Yeah turned on force gpu, unchecksd all power saver options just incase and it helps

A couple of quick suggestions:
-Hard Reset when you get the phone. A few people have commented that after a re-flash the phone runs smoother
-disable animations and the screen unlock ripples/light BS. The ripple caused issues with the GS3, so this is just an assumption on my part.
-Force GPU helps
-Freeze and apps especially bloat you don't use.
-Since this seems to be a common issue for everyone, I would hope that Samsung/Att will have a small update in the coming months. I will not hold my breathe though.

This actually does help a lot to reduce the lag.. Did this a few days ago and it has def helped!
I felt the same way about my S3 for a long time until I finally flashed tasks AOKP with ktoonz kernel.
For reference, I think the size of the stock rom on the s4 is somewhere around two gigs as opposed to tasks AOKP which was around 500 or 600 MB's.
I haven't even activated my S4 yet because of the frustration I know I would endure when switching between apps, or texting, or pretty much doing anything.
My S3 is RIDICULOUSLY fast now so I have the utmost confidence that once the Verizon phone is out and the ROMs start rolling in, all the lag will be gone once you get away from TouchWiz.
[edit] Task I see you lurking around the S4 boards. I don't know what it all means, but I LIKE it!!!

This poster on a Rogers S4 claims he received a factory update that help the performance of his phone...

Maybe AT&T will push a similar update to help with performance issues.
