Sensation 4G Release and Unlocked Bootloader - HTC Sensation

HTC Announced that they will no longer be locking the bootloaders; The US edition of the Sensation was specuated to be released on June 8. about a weekish ago HTC made their announcment . The Sensation 4G will be released on June 15 most likely that T-mobile and HTC need to unlock the bootloaders before the phone is released. So the Sensation 4G Will most likely ship with an Unlocked Bootloader

why was this made into a new thread? this info/speculation is in like 4 threads. No one knows if they'll ship with an unlocked bootloader & those that already have the US version don't have an unlocked bootloader. By the time that HTC said they'd unlock future phones the US Sensation was probably all packaged up and ready to go. There's no way they'd recall all of those units, unpackage, unlock, & then repackage them. If anything it'll be an OTA update or something.
Would a mod please close this thread?

Lol. Old news. Ashasaur will probably be here soon

HTC unlocker or revolutionary unlocker?

HTC is releasing their own version of the unlocker. I'm a bit confused of the difference between the two. Which will be better?

Revolutionary is better for sure. Do you want to give HTC record of your unlock and grounds to automatically deny your warranty claim for clear hardware issues? I sure don't. I'd rather they have no idea that I'm unlocked.

Does Revolutionary have the ability to relock the bootloader? Because once you unlock it your warranty is void no matter what. So this would be a major factor in determining which way to go. I would like to know as I just purchased my sensation yesterday.
Now on a side note I rooted my N1 just after it released. It had some hardware issues I sent it in under warranty and had no issues concerning the warranty and being unlocked. I would like to see what parts of the warranty void upon unlocking via HTCs method. If someone can post a link I would be interested to read up on this.

I would say Revolutionary!
hTC updates - take ages..by the time they come out with any essentials updates, i had changed to another device.
Revolutionary - almost every single day. They listen to our feedbacks n always trying to improve for the community...
Therefore, Revolutionary FTW!

I agree with everyone the revolution is better in every way.
Plus if it gets bricked for HTC its voided and they KNOW it
but for revolution they wont know so if its bricked just drown it or back over it and its unvoided

While Revolutionary doesn't per se, you can do it by simply flashing your stock ROM and switch secuflag back to 3 which will relock you to S-On. Details are in this sticky, oh and the cool thing is if you flash the stock RUU back your bootloader just says PVT Ship S-Off so it looks as if you got your Sensation that way haha
That is exactly what I did. s-off my device via revolutionary method then rooted and super CID. I then re-flashed stock ruu back and now I have stock s-off but with super CID. I'll probably changed it back to Asian CID just for software updates. If that is how software updates check for proper version updates.

[Q] Sensation bootloader for Bell network

Is there any news or rumors on the Sensation getting the bootloader unlocked any time soon?
Have you tried http://revolutionary.io or http://htcdev.com/bootloader/?

Just follow this guide and you will be all set.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1192300
I do know about the guide to unlock the bootloader. I'm also aware of the HTC dev site, I was just wondering if there are any rumors flying around that the sensation for bell will be on that list soon

[Q] Official HTC Sensation ICS roll-out

So HTC have announced that the ICS update will be rolling out from today onwards... Those of you here who have rooted your phones and installed a custom ROM etc... will you be de-rooting and going for the official release or not?
I won't myself, just wanted to know what the general thoughs/feelings were.
T-L-H
Already got it, but good to know for anyone on stock who's waiting for it
Hurrah, some good news! I'll give it a try after work. Let's hear from the folks that got the update today. I take it that it's for both the standard Sensation and the XE?

I can't see it yet. Do you have a link to the anouncement ?
I'm running ARHD so I'm using ICS already myself but for those of you who aren't.
Link to announcement I read: http://www.techradar.com/news/phone-and-communications/mobile-phones/ice-cream-sandwich-rolling-out-to-htc-smartphones-1070928
That is good news. I'm unrooted for this exact reason, I worked out it wouldn't be too long I had enough patience to wait..... just!!
Here is the official announcement:

edit: 10x The-Last-Hylian, the link is edited. Now it is OK.
Your link was scrambled, here's a working link.

And now we wait for someone to post a guide how to go back to all the official things (rom, kernel, radio)
Do I have to be S-on or S-off for that?
EddyOS?
It does say the next few weeks so could be a little wait yet. Not had anything yet, cid is HTC_001 which I would have guessed to be first, but is not the case.

honestly, no, since I don't like all the tmo bloatware anyway. arhd has everything I need anyway.

Guys, it's not gonna go out to everyone at once as it'll drown the OTA servers. Have some patience!!
Also bear in mind that the Blog post by HTC mentions NO time frame other than 'end of March' so that doesn't mean today in my book

[Q] Would you update it or not?

Hello everyone!
It's seems to look like another "would you upgrade the phone of your GF to ICS" (which can actually lead to tensions *skip lame part*), but it's not.
I have in my hands a sensation Z710e from Korea, still running gingerbread.
Being now in Europe (more precisely in Belgium), I would expect to have the ICS stock upgrade (cf. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1570785).
But no update showing up on the phone. I guess the problem comes from the build (1.46.911.4 CL149869 RELEASE-KES) or the baseband (10.57.9035.00U_10.14.9035.09_M) which are Korean and not European.
Questions:
- Will I ever get any update of this phone, in Europe, OTA?
- Is it possible to update the baseband/build to have an European baseband (and follow OTA updates)?
- Is it dangerous (it's not my phone I don't want to brick it)?
- Should I follow this : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1472298 with such a korean phone? I have no S-off for now, and phone version doesn't seem supported http://unrevoked.com/rootwiki/doku.php/public/revolutionary?
Thank you in advance.
I'm not sure if or when you would get an update but I have rooted and s-offed two of my friend's phones including the sensation. I did the sensation a few months ago and they are happy with it

Can I change country with the help of the s-off ?
And did someone already try to change the country of the sensation?

S-off, change your cid to the local carrier and you should get the update. You'll want to s-off before the update anyways because you can't once your hboot updates.

I'm not sure in that one actually, I thought you meant changing the country by installing a local ROM. Personally I think I would super cid, s-off, and root and then install the local stock ROM or any of the other ROMs like Android revolution and then you could unroot and turn s-on if you wanted to, but it is all extra stuff to do.

GB to ICS Update India postponed to May 14th
dude dont worry you will definitely get the update... we in India are scheduled for next month
S-OFF takes 10mins.
Change CID take 10 seconds lol
Do them 2 steps and the Update should come through.
You dont have to CID, Just change it to unbranded Europe. But superCID is better and isnt any more complicated
Hey Bharat...
Who told u about our update next month? Ive been hounding those guys for days and they seem to have no clue...

HTC Jelleybean update and root

Just rooted my One s. I have heard HTC should be releasing JB sometime early Sep from what I heard.
Whenever they do though, will it un-root the phone if downloaded?
I know there is JB rom now, but I was just curious about the HC OTA update.
Thanks.
U cant download HTC updates with a unlocked bootloader you will have to lock it and then do update which will stop your root access ... Who told u that it was coming early September I'm thinking its coming October

The Tmo guy... but guess that was a sales pitch...
Now that I think about it, when HTC does release it, guess the devs will be jumping on that anyway....
Lol T-Mobile is still on 1.84! International is already on 2.31. It will be international first then a few months later because T-Mobile has to add their bloat to it.

The current version number has nothing to do with anything. It was released a while back that T-Mo would leave the One S on 1.84 until JB was released. We just have to wait for HTC to release JB Sense. We really don't have to wait for T-Mo's US release because no one cares (unless you use Wi-Fi calling or want complete stock).
