Tiamat 1.4.4 and usb tether - Xoom Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have successfully added the 1.4.4 kernel, however I am unable to teher...
When I run the required command I get this response.
dhcpcd[4964]: version 5.2.10 starting
dhcpcd[4964]: usbl: interface not found or invalid
Host phone is droid x with stock froyo rooted.
I've tried with debug off and off...still no go.
Any ideas?
Thanks!

Are you sure that you have a good OTG host cable?
Sent from my Xoom using Tapatalk

Yea good cable...tested it with a usb stick and an ntfs hd.
I think it might be my X...sometimes it reboots when I plug in usb while debug is on. Ill have to play with it more later I guess.
By the way, the only place that I havr to turn on usb tether is in the easy tether pro app...that is what the instructions refer to correct?

I don't think so. If you are rooted and running a custom ROM you should be able to enable native tethering. Go to > Settings > Wireless and networks > Tethering & portable hotspot > USB tethering. That's how I do it on my Incredible running Cyanogenmod 7.0.3. I guess on the X, you have a lot less flexibility on ROMs?
Sent from my Xoom using Tapatalk

Ahhh I don't have native tethering at all...I think it goes away when you remove the hotspot app. I'm on a stock rom so I guess I'm stuck for now. Ill have to livr with wifi for the moment lol...
Now to get hfsplus working!

[Q] USB harddrive connect to car - broken after OTA 2.3.4

Folks,
with custom ROMs based on 2.3.4 I experienced that I can no longer connect my Sensation via USB harddrive mode to my car's USB.
It worked with stock ROM 2.3.3, even though I had to deactivate USB debugging and turn it on again...
Yesterday I had the time to cross check:
- restored my stock ROM 2.3.3 NAND et voila: USB connection to car is working
- installed 2.3.4 OTA (Vodafone DE): USB connection to car not working...
Connection via USB to PC is working without any problems...
Anyone else experiencing probs here?
(my car is a BMW with the latest navigation system btw)
++ EDIT ++
Problem solved with Pyramid3D 7.2.0 ROM based on 2.3.5
See post 11 in this thread

Yep!
With 2.3.3 I had either to disable it when it was enabled or vice-versa to get it running... but it ran!

You mean if I did select disk mode when pluggin the cable in...?
Dude, sure I did!!
there was a issue with with non stock kernal, maybe u need to update to latest, alternativly there was a app listed in mikes rom, to over come the problem
I am on pure stock...
Using a non-stock kernel... Maybe an option... But browsing through the threads I didn't find anything related to this issue - remember, harddisk mode with PC is working.

So you tried all the modes. Weird...
Did you have to do any configuring on your HU to get it to recognize the phone the first time?
Maybe clear those configurations on the HU and start over?

Yep, tried everything possible...
No config needed on car, plug-in and off it went with 2.3.3 - just toggle USB debugging on or off in phone...

Will give P3D ROM based on 2.3.5 a try...
++ EDIT ++
Pyramid3D ROM 7.2.0 installed
>> ABLE to connect with my car in disk mode again!!
This time even without switching debugging on or off
Hope it stays this way!!
Dies anyone know which system apk the USB disk Feature is in?
Would try to compare 2.3.4 with 2.3.5...
But maybe it's a kernel issue as well!?

Has anyone tried an OTG cable?

Has anyone verified that an OTG cable works or not with Chainfire's stickmount on a rooted One X?
Has OTG been removed from the kernel or not?
Some users have commented it's disabled in kernel. I have not verified this but I have verified it works in fastboot. Issue is the port will not supply power, so pretty pointless imo.
Will kernel support allow the usb to provide power, or is getting sd card storage working fruitless?

I've read that it won't supply power, but not sure whether or not that's something we can control in software.

I tried a plain OTG and it didn't work.
I haven't tried it with a Y cable yet though. I'll see when I get home.

Shouldn't work as we don't have kernel support.

So the fix came with the update of Wifi Tether app today. I'm now tethering 4g on Jelly Bean!

I'm having the same problem on JB stock rooted [flashed, not OTA], as the folks for whom it does not work; I had the same issue on the early JB builds. I have tried all the settings above and then some.
On the early JB builds I got Barnacle to work, but it is not working after reflash to stock. WiFi Tether is not working in any mode. EasyTether works fine, as you'd expect. :/
NS is my daily driver so I can try out any suggestions. I am wondering if it's something to do with superuser, since Roam Control is failing to obtain credentials? Or that might just be a coincidence.
Thanks,
-Tim

Hmmm.
I guess you can try to update binaries in su app.
Sent from my ASUS Transformer Pad TF300T using Tapatalk 2
To start... I am by no means a developer. I usually wait for people to find the solution. I understand this is the NS forum so this might be totally irrelevant but the solution I found for wifi-tether after flashing Stock Jellybean OTA for NS4G was in the framework-res.apk file.
File /res/values/arrays.xml @ line 478 I replaced
Code:
<integer-array name="config_tether_upstream_types">

1

6

7

4

</integer-array>
With
Code:
<integer-array name="config_tether_upstream_types">

0

1

6

7

4

</integer-array>
The only thing that does not work right is that I have to turn wifi off first before enabling tethering. Since I am on boost I can not confirm if this works for 4g but 3g works for wifi and usb for the two phones I did it to. I tried just about every tethering app in the market and none of them worked. Hope this helps someone find a less crude fix

tether not working on cleanrom?

hey im on rogers and i flashed cleanrom http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1655011
i love everything about this rom, except ever since i flashed to it, i haven't been able to get tethering working (usb or wifi). I've even tried using the "att hotspot hack" addon that comes with the rom but no luck. anyone else having this issue or no how to get tethering working??
for now i just restore a backup of my stock phone whenever i wanna use tethering but thats a hassle and theres gotta be a way to get it working with cleanrom..

USB otg.

Otg is the capability to run a mouse, USB and sometimes a hard drive via a micro OTG cable ... are there any roms that has that capability pre installed.??
