ok heres the problem, downgraded from leaked 3.1 to build 8.2.3.9 in order to obtain root trouble is I get repeated force closures every minute or so. I thought factory wipe/reset should sort this but ....I have a password lock on and although when I switch on I can enter the password fine and get into the tablet when I try and do a factory wipe it asks for the password and force closes every time the keyboard pops up in fact anything that needs a keyboard causes a a FC every time it pops up, I even tried installing one from the market and that also causes FC. Does anyon know of a solution I`m at my wits end and the tablet is useless.
Thanks
Mike

My phone worked perfectly for a few days with ADP1.5H r3 on it, but now it refuses to boot, it seems to be looping forever. The blue android logo comes up, but the "shining" animation stops moving after usually 1-2 seconds, then the screen flashes back and the same thing repeats over and over again. I have already tried a wipe earlier, but now I'm having the same problem again. Any clues on what causes this or (better) how to fix this?

Are you doing Apps to SD? It could be your card.
Did you move any caches?
Do you have any nandroid backups? (just fastboot flash if so)
Did you recently try to update to anything and fail?
Try to use the update.zip again. If that doesn't work then start over from scrap.

Wipe worked for me. It was sticking on the Android flash screen, but worked after the wipe.
Yeah, a wipe fixes it. Later today I stumbled upon a thread which suggested the problem is the "Contact Owner" app that doesn't play nice. Can anyone confirm that?
In answer to binary: yeah I do apps on SD but I've been doing that since ADP1.1, so I doubt the card is the problem. Didn't move any caches. Yeah I have a nandroid backup, and all the updates I did went smoothly. I had the whole system working for about 2 days until this happened (probably, because this was the first time I rebooted since installing Contact Owner, though I can't really remember that 100%)

Contact Owner caused my phone to go into a reboot loop, but that was on the 5.02H build. I haven't had the guts to try it on JF1.5 or 1.5Hr3. If you look through the market comments for Contact Owner you'll see quite a few complaints of the same issue.
Hi there,
And sorry for reviving this old thread. I am the developer of Contact Owner an I kinda need your help in debugging this issue. I got a small number of messages from users of custom builds a while ago (about a month or two) but thought it was an issue with those builds.
Now it came back to bite me in the ass, as it seems the HTC builds in various countries (Canada, Sweden, South Africa) have the same issue: the phone goes into a reboot loop. I've tried (and failed) to install a custom build on my dev phone (almost bricked it) so I'm going to ask nicely if someone is willing to debug the issue for me. Please, please, please!
All that's needed is to install and run Contact Owner and if the device goes into a reboot loop, simply attach it to USB, run 'adb logcat' and then post the output. To recover from the reboot loop, simply start in 'safe mode' (hold Menu down while booting) and then uninstall Contact Owner.
I suspect the problem lies in SQLite, because I've seen similar complaints from Klaxon users and that app also sets the alarm message (which then ends up in a SQLite db, I guess). The Alarm Clock app that comes with Android also does that but I imagine it's because the message set by Alarm Clock is always short and has no newlines. I also don't think the issue is in Dalvik code, because the device should not crash if managed code causes an error.
TIA,
Paranoid Android.
Force closing issue?
I am a new user of your forum, my question is, I keep getting a force close error saying, "The prcess android.process.acored has stopped unexpectedly". I can't get rid of it, and it will not allow me to get into settings menu to do a reset how can I reset if the error pops up every time I go into settings? I can get into apps. but it want allow the key board to open up. This is the second time that I have experienced having to reset my gtablet; and each time it happen all of a sudden. Is there any antivirus software that you can recommend that can stop some of this. I believe I am experiencing this because of the apps that I am downloading off the market. Is this a common thing? Meaning, getting this force close errors and people having to reset their device?

i had the same problem with some CUSTOM ROMS...
first step is localizate if there is one app that provokes your acore" problem...this mistake message is usual when installs some apk from the market...
and if you have a custom rom on a rooted device and your problem is not solved.... RE-FLASH IT AGAIN BUT BEFORE do full wipes and formats into your recovery menu... okay?
sorry for my bad english
Just today I was checking my email when Sense force closed on me. After that, it force closed on me every few minutes or so. I cleared data and it just force closed on me again. Not sure why all of a sudden this started happening. I havent installed any apps since yesterday. This morning it wasnt doing it, just all of a sudden started doing it. Anyone else experiencing this? My next step would be to do a master reset but really dont feel like setting my phone up again since we dont have root and cant do titanium backups
Have you tried uninstalling the last app or two that you installed? I also assume that you tried restarting the device too?

Mine does this too. I noticed that it happens more often when it's hot where your at. I work outside and get lot of force closes but at soon as I get home where its cool I don't get any Force closes. I guess heat isn't good on the sensation.
I get it a lot too. Even with the 2nd phone. The first one was just Force close GALORE. The 2nd phone Force close a lot to. I hate it also tried a factory reset fine for about 24 hours them back to the same thing. Sense also loads way to often,
i dont know why but all of a sudden every few minutes when i use the tablet it will all of a sudden freeze and the error "Unfortunately, the process com.google.process.gapps has stopped" i am just on stock rooted and i didnt change any system files around. it doesnt seem to have any effect outside of the freeze, but its still really annoying. any ideas short of doing a factory reset?
Hi, i started getting with with the team alliance ROM, factory reset and clear Dalvik, came back after a while. Switched to latest rooted stock, same as you, started getting it again. Seems to be a bit random, haven't been able to tie it to anything specific and luckily it doesnt happen that often at all.
After i just did my first cold boot i have some wierd issues. I dont know if cold boot is the source of this, but it's the only thing i can think of, it happened right after.
First thing i noticed was that gallery stopped working, and this happens every time i start it. Then i notice PlayStore tries to update apps but stops at the "downloading" part.
Rebooting doesnt help, so i tried another cold boot with no luck.
Any suggestions?
Hmm downloading a new app doesnt work either, just stops at the "downloading" part again, so its not just when updating apps. Seems like my tablet doesnt like recieving data from the play store anymore.
Anyone?
Try clearing the cache and data for the playstore app. Then temporily disable autoupdate in the playstore. I think its overwhelming the tablet.
Try updating a few at a time. Do the Chrome update by itself, doesn't seem to like other updates going at the same time.

I solved the problem. It wasn't the cold boot that caused this, it seems disabling ALL the preinstalled apps from asus is not a good idea. Once i reenabled them, the problems with gallery and playstore were fixed.
Doh Feel stupid much? Yep
