I got my mini HDMI to HDMI cable today and having not been able to test it previous to 3.1 I was wondering if everyone elses was poor performing?
I can play a 1080 avatar clip which is encoded baseline mp4 on my tablet perfectly and it is smooth, but as soon as I plug the HDMI cable in its very stuttery and laggy but the audio decodes fine (on the TV obviously - Samsung 42" plasma)
It plays at the same performance as software decoding.
Any one else have issues?
Thanks
Its a lot better than before as it wouldnt do 1080p out before. 720p is much better than before but it still could use some improvement

Since I'm coming from the OG the only way we had HDMI was thru hacks or custom Roms. AT&T has said using your HDMI on the OG was considered tethering. Has anyone been using the HDMI feature that comes on the A2 for Netflix. Would love to be able to hook up to my big screen and watch Netflix again but at the same time I don't wanna lose my unlimited plan either.
Yes it works
I have another question about HDMI on Atrix 2 and i didn't want to open a new thread.
What resolution does it support?
Only 1280x720p or 1920x1080p too, and at what frame rates?
I would assume 1080p since it's HDMI but I may be way wrong lol

Yea netflix has issues at the moment for some reason or another. The crackling if you will notice is strictly when you use the netflix app I assume.
Hi,
i have got original HTC phone-to-HDMI MHL module (with included HDMI cable from HTC) and HDMI output is...just not what i expected.
The picture is not smooth, even browsing apps in launcher is a bit laggy and playing serious videos (movies) is unpleasant.
Do you experience the same thing? Can buying another HDMI cable affect this (i guess it could, because htc cable does not have to have enough speed)?
Thanks for your insight!
For the record, i use Virtuous Sensation with Bricked kernel (with OC to 1,5 Ghz).
The output for scrolling around on the phone isn't very smooth for me either. Video is very smooth though. It will depend what format of video you are using. I know that I can play 720p and 1080p videos using Dice player as it supports hardware acceleration.

Just bought the official Samsung Multimedia Dock (EDD-S20EWE) and unfortunately it only outputs 720p 30fps and it is very sluggish .
Just noticed on Samsung's site there's another dock (EDD-S20JWEGSTA) and it says that it outputs 1080p (no info on fps).
Anyone knows the second dock works at 60fps ?
I also have the S4 MHL to HDMI adapter and it works at 1080p 60fps without issues, would really like to know if the dock works at 60fps 'cause I'll be using it to connect to a 1080p TV, keyboard, mouse and external HDD.
Thanks

I've just got 'EDD-S20EWEGSTD' and it outputs at 1080p @ 30hz. Don't know to check the the FPS though. The box is specifically branded for 'Note II' but still works with the S4. Manufacturer date on the box is 01/05/13.
Found a picture of the JWE box. They've renamed it to "Smart Dock for Galaxy Series" instead of "Multimedia Dock for Note II."

Still running at 30hz for me. According to this post

The newer JWE dock only outputs in 30hz as well.

Only problem is with that is you get 30hz output.
I got a dock which works for the S3/Note2/S4 but the output is 30hz.

Samsung really need to create an updated dock for the S4 which supports 1080p/60hz. This is why I still have not bought one.
Any updates on this? Has Samsung provided us with a dock that outputs 1080p/60fps?
And could also act as USB OTG at the same time?^
Any unofficial or Note III docks etc. that would work like this?
hi folks,
i am looking for a solution for sending video to my LG TV from my i9505. miracast devices like the PTV3000 look appealing (no cables!), but is the image quality (smoothness of playback etc) as good as going mhl adapter and hdmi lead?
bump. anybody got any comments about picture quality with miracast vs hdmi cable?

Search in this forum there is already a thread with a video review about the ptv3000

I have both and can speak directly about their performance differences. I'm using my s4 as a Citrix client for work, and via the miracast, smaller 12 point font is pixelated and unreadable. It looks like the actual resolution of the wireless adjusts between 960 and 720 lines of resolution, and never goes to actual 1080. There is also about a full second of delay to the video signal so doing anything interactive is a bust.
The wired adapter is an impressively clear full 1080p with very minimal lag, but the adapter is awkward and you must be plugged in. Even at that, unless you are using the factory charger or one that you can set to 2 amps, you will lose overall battery in this scenario, even with the device screen turned all the way down. You cannot turn it off and continue to run the hdmi display unless you are rooted, and I haven't had a chance to go there yet.

buji thanks for the feedback. Think I'll go for the mhl adaptor. I don't want to compromise picture quality.
Hello
I have a Motorola Photon Q
I flashed it with CyanogenMod 10.2
I connected an HDMI cable and I have an output to my monitor... unfortunately it's upscaled so is a bit blurry.
Does anyone know if there's a way to output real 1080p through Photon Q's HDMI cable? (for watching movies, video conference through Hangouts, Skype) or it'll be unable to render the Android interface at 1080p?
Thanks
I also would like to see real 1080p output from the HDMI port as I use my phone for Netflix and stored blu-ray's.
