It's really annoying to me how the Infuse 4G handles messages longer than 160 characters (or whatever limit it is). It knows to combine them, yet it makes you "click for more" which then shows that single message in it's entirety full-screen ?!?!!? What is this. 1995 anyone?
Anyone know if there's a way to ditch this silliness and just display the text like a text? lol
Samsung made a nice device, but some of the **** they do really make me wonder if they have trained monkeys writing their apps.
i'd also like to know. i like the puzzle piece notification, so i don't want to get an alternative SMS app.

Yeah the puzzle is kinda a cool extra touch. I just can't stand the sandboxing they do with large messages.
if you get a different messaging app wouldn't it prompt you which app to use upon using the puzzle piece?

I just randomly remembered someone suggested this on Twitter a LONG time ago.
What if there was an app that gave achievements for things you do on your phone, kind of like the PS3 or Xbox360? lol
I'm thinking a message appears on screen like the new Superuser app (the one in the little default gray box that says "----- has been granted superuser permissions") with the "Achievements" name and stuff. What do you think?
2 problems with this:
First: What would we acheive? "Dalton sent 200 text messages in one day - 30G" boring.
Second: If it was something like that ^^ It couldn't be an app, it would have to mod pretty much everything, or have support for pretty much everything. And it would just be exhausting. "Dalton Installed a new ROM - 15G" I suppose it would be kind of cool, maybe, if there was a leaderboard thing, then we could go, I'm so awesome, my nexus score is higher than yours. But other than that, it's kind of silly. "Dalton bricked his phone - 0G"

Agreed. You get acheivements for...Having a life! Congratulations.
Haha, that was meant in a sarcastic and non demeaning manner.
But, he's got a point. It's simple, and it works. Granted, I only have
one friend that uses it, so no one will know if I get anything, but it's
still pretty good. But if you can come up with a list of decent ideas, then
maybe someone might make something. But, to me, sounds kind of foolish
I like it!
Like forsquare but for your geekiness!!

It would be exhausting to do this huh it'd be somethin random, just to say "LOLOLOLOLOLOLOL YOUR PHONE CAN'T DO THIS" there could be a leaderboard and stuff.
Just go on Feint
Anyone know of or willing to make an app that will warn me when my girl friend is about to have her period?
I always hit that land-mine, I would at least like to see it coming so I have a fighting chance to run. I would put it on my google calendar, but we share that. Also she would see it on my screen.
Haha I do believe there are actually a couple of applications like this on the Android Market. Check out the "Health" Section.
+1 lmao
Funny, but we all know it would be useful
haha, i find it funny that it would be listed in health.
It should be in a section of its own. WARNING NOTIFICATIONS

There's quite a few menstruation tracking apps out there. Would she get pissy about you doing that?
Why not just set up a recurring calendar entry?

I use the app call My Days off of the android market. My gf and I both use it on our phones and I can definitely say it has been a life saver more than once.

OMG, I saw this video on that new app for the Galaxy S.
Is there a way to port it to the EVO?
Road SMS KB App on Galaxy S
saw it too, pretty sweet im def interested
Now thats an Interesting feature....
In for this.
That is brilliant.
That is sweet!!!
guessing its just goinna be an apk, direct install, but you never know..
that is sweet, we will have it before you know it. it will just be an apk I assume
Better yet, can we get it as a live wallpaper?
that app is cool. such a simple yet brilliant idea.
I like and wouldn't mind having it on our phone. BUT, when I text, I don't hold my phone in front of me. I usually have it down a bit lol. None the less I wouldn't mind seeing it on our phone
is ther ea keyboard like that in the market with just clear buttons, I would love to have that.
This is gonna drain battery like crazy, isn't it?

Yes. Yes it is. My camera i by far the biggest drain on the battery (obviously only when it is used).

You'd have to get a second battery just to get through the day.
Pretty [email protected] cool feature if you ask me.
Hopefully this will reduce the number of wrecks-while-texting, but then again I think to myself; "How many people will actually own this phone AND use this feature"

I think its meant to be used while driving so you can hold the phone up and still keep an eye on the road. Thats the only time that I'd ever use it. I dont text and drive often....but it sure would be helpful those times that I do it.
I'd be safer if I just called them though, LOL

Samsung clarified that it is for pedestrians. Could you imagine the **** storm if they were encouraging driving and texting in any way?
Awesome!
Wouldn't want to be on the receiving end of some jerk that hit my car because he thought he could see the road in front of him using the Road SMS app lol
Unfortunately something tells me that what was once thought to be a good idea on Samsung's part, will eventually lead to lawsuits because of ignorant people
Evening guys
I was wondering if there was a way to bind the android keyboard to its own home screen so that you are ready to text just by flicking the page (messag centre opens and keyboard pops up), as we all know the feature is on the iphone but thought it would be pretty dam awesome to have it on android. Can it be done?
Sorry if this has been asked before i had no time for a proper search, off to meet the wife from work lol.
Thanks in advance
...iphone....
facepalm
Could be possible but it would require a lot of code-writing andwon't be done in a day..........It's a Great idea....Maybe you can develop an app like that
Lol, i know... i know dam iphone, i dont like them at all tbh, i just like that idea of skipping to a page to start composing a message, and im surprised it hasnt been done yet. But yeah it would prolly take ages to develop and be a real pain. I myself havent the first clue about anything like that, hell im lucky i managed to get my phone rooted by myself the other day lol, i just love android and its customization.

I know this isn't Android anymore, but has anyone pulled/ported the stock Tizen browser from Tizen OS? I assume it would be easy enough to sideload this to the device via USB Debugging, right?

Sounds easy and it might be but, we don't have a keyboard yet anyways. Hopefully when the fleksy keyboard comes out there will be more useful apps.

While we wait, can you share what you think would be a useful scenario where pulling up a webpage on a tiny watchscreen will be more convenient than just pulling out your phone and doing it that way? I'm really curious and maybe you have a great idea I haven't considered.
Some kind of situation when you want to check things without hands free? Checking live train times while carrying luggage or checking football scores while it's raining perhaps?

Think a dev confirmed there is no external acess from the gear 2, only direct to phone, so this wouldn't work I would assume.

Cheating on a test, of course. That's pretty much the only reason I'd want a watch browser.

Either of those scenarios you just mentioned are great, but voice commands w/ S Voice would be more useful (if it can even do this - I know Google Now can get me this info from my phone, but S Voice on the Gear currently just comes back and says "sorry, we couldn't find the answer to your question".
Also, if your hands are full, what makes you think that opening up and typing a web address on the watch's little screen will be "hands free"? You can't even interact with the watch without touching it with your other hand.

How would you navigate an app or browser without using you hands/fingers? Your football score scenario is already accomplished via ESPNs Score Center app. It can be configured to send notifications based on team preferences (i.e. notify of scoring plays during your fav team games).
And now that I think about it, if only the Google Maps app could be configured to send turn-by-turn notifications, we would sort of have GPS on our Gears.

oh I forgot about the turn by turn functionality - Pebbles can do this, even though I never got a chance to use it since my phone is mounted on my dashboard. Would be useful when walking in a city, though - without keeping your phone out. The problem of course is the watchscreen turns off again and you have to touch the watch and navigate to the app again to see the next direction.

Yep, and shortly after I posted this I came up with an article about that Pebble feature... however, it seems it is limited to the iOS version of Google Maps because it is able to send normal push notifications for each turn.
