Is there a way to port it to the EVO?
Road SMS KB App on Galaxy S

Now thats an Interesting feature....
In for this.
That is brilliant.
That is sweet!!!
guessing its just goinna be an apk, direct install, but you never know..
that is sweet, we will have it before you know it. it will just be an apk I assume
Better yet, can we get it as a live wallpaper?
that app is cool. such a simple yet brilliant idea.
I like and wouldn't mind having it on our phone. BUT, when I text, I don't hold my phone in front of me. I usually have it down a bit lol. None the less I wouldn't mind seeing it on our phone
is ther ea keyboard like that in the market with just clear buttons, I would love to have that.
This is gonna drain battery like crazy, isn't it?

You'd have to get a second battery just to get through the day.
Pretty [email protected] cool feature if you ask me.
Hopefully this will reduce the number of wrecks-while-texting, but then again I think to myself; "How many people will actually own this phone AND use this feature"

I think its meant to be used while driving so you can hold the phone up and still keep an eye on the road. Thats the only time that I'd ever use it. I dont text and drive often....but it sure would be helpful those times that I do it.
I'd be safer if I just called them though, LOL

Samsung clarified that it is for pedestrians. Could you imagine the **** storm if they were encouraging driving and texting in any way?
Awesome!
Wouldn't want to be on the receiving end of some jerk that hit my car because he thought he could see the road in front of him using the Road SMS app lol
Unfortunately something tells me that what was once thought to be a good idea on Samsung's part, will eventually lead to lawsuits because of ignorant people
my cousin just showed me this app for the iphone called hey tell. its a voicemail text app, instead of texting you say a brief sentence and sending like atext and its just as fast as a regular text.also they can do the same. just wanted to know if they have a similar app for the hd 2.
I'm not familiar with hey tell, but Android has voice to text throughout the OS. You can voice to text SMS. Voice to text searches, etc. Of course it goes the other way too with text to voice so that it speaks turn by turn directions.
Android on the HD2 is getting very stable and useable now. It's been my primary OS for many weeks now.

Its called Tellme (see it here.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QKWjPONWl_c)
This can crash your phone so install latest microsoft voice command MSVC, it worked on and off for me so gave it the flick but others give it the thumbs up so each to their own.
I dont recomment using that app, can really brick your phone.

Dude man up already! If you can do cht you can do android with your eyes closed. Its really not that hard and because it runs from your sd card there's really nothing that can brick your phone. Once you go android you will not give WinMo a second thought. Trust me. The latest builds of droid are just as if not more stable than my WinMo setup. Battery drain is the only issue for me right now (it's not really that bad but it's not quite as good as WinMo atm) but once we get a nand version this should get better.

Android isn't that hard, as long as you know how to hspl unlock your phone, flash a custom ROM and a proper radio. Nothing to it at all for a noob....
Maybe that's why we NEVER see threads that start "help me, I think I bricked my phone!!!"

that kinda just blew my mind haha
don't you mean sometime tomorrow?
i was reading about his earlier.. i still think swype could be alot faster and easier to use. It's gonna take quite awhile to get use to all the letters being at weird positions.. i can pretty much type using swype half looking.. with this your eyes are stuck on the keyboard. and imo i like looking at a keyboard more than an X with letters lined up.. kinda tacky UI
doesnt seem good
Oh geez, it already looks complicated and the video doing the demo just made it more confusing. I'll try it out but swype all the way!
I'll give it a go, looks interesting.. Could be a big learning curve though, learning to touch type all over again.
Brilliant ! When you think about it, the keyboard was not designed for mobile devices. There will be a steep learning curve because we have been using the kb for so long but I think it will be much more efficient, faster and less error prone.
I'll definitely give it a try.
ya i love swype too but i will definitely try it. did anyone try messagease?
I am totally converted to SwiftKey but i'll give this one a try too. I like that they've come at the problem from a totally original angle so it has to be worth a bit of time to get used to it.

Hi.
I just got 8pen, and so far I have to say it is an interesting concept. Other than having to relearn where the letters are (they are in no way associated with a traditional keyboard), it is a really easy way to type.
I had to keep lifting my thumb to see where my next letter was, but I think I will get the hang of it soon.
This will be great for guys with big fingers because it just uses gestures, and the user will not have to try to get a finger on a teeny tiny key.
I think they should have had a trial period, though. I did pay the $1.59, a small price to pay for the newest, latest, and (possibly) greatest, but if I don't get the hang of this soon I am going to uninstall. It should not take me a minute and a half to type "how are you".

No sir... but you made me question it. When I downloaded the application, I got an e-mail and shrugged it off as proof of purchase and cleared notification, same with when I uninstalled it. Once you said that, I went back through my gmail and double checked. It appears as though I was not charged.

I know... I forgot the 's' at the end of 'minutes'. I typed that response with 8pen too, it was very aggravating. The worst is the fact that you can't memorize the letters and constantly have to lift your finger in order to see where the heck the next character is!
So I'm using it on the N1 and I cannot understand how to select a letter outside of the first ones (. y i a , e t o). Even doing the tutorial, Step 2: Your First Word...I'm trying to type "you" and it keeps typing "yoo" because I cannot select anything past O
Scratch that...so to anyone else baffled by this, I just figured out you must proceed to another quadrant and then go to the center to get the second letter or more quadrants for other letters.
Pretty amazing, is what I got out of it. Any comments or thoughts? What couldve been done better? Overall thoughts?

My thoughts are im glad I got my TBOLT out of contract so I can buy the Galaxy Nexus with a 2 year plan =D
I like the look of it and I am very excited for when it gets to the T-Bolt. My only complaint is I don't agree that the on screen buttons are more useful than the capacative buttons we have. I also just prey to god they release the AOSP code soon because I WANT MOAR!
I didn't get to watch the video because of class, but from what I read from engadget's live blog, I am excited. Honestly, I am a little surprised that I didn't see it running (from the pictures mind you) on a tablet. The NFC sharing app is heaven sent for me. I just wish people would adopt it more. Maybe with Google backing it more, other people *cough* will start implementing into their devices.
I enjoyed watching the stream even though it was low quality. Overall ICS looks great, opens up so many doors to what can be done and will come. SDK released tonight. Be nice when the full source is out so the Devs can start cooking..
I agree with muerteman about the buttons. I like the buttons on the bottom and not all on screen..
The people app reminded me of windows phone, and the swipe to remove items from the screen reminded me of webos. I really like the swipe feature on my touchpad, so that makes me happy to see it coming to ICS.
I can't wait for this device! My wife is probably taking my TBolt and I'm buying the Nexus off contract! ICS looks load nicer than GB that's for sure!
it was especially great that i was watching via my tbolt in my car dock while driving to work, and almost crashed when they I saw them going into "oh yes, facial recognition lockscreen"
Oh and P.S. I posted the Roboto font from ICS in the TBolt Themes & Apps section if you want it! It's quite nice!
Yea idk about the lockscreen thing. I'd be worried about what happened at the presentation. That for some reason my phone wouldnt recognize me. There better be some password backup (which I am sure google has thought of), or alot of people will be really mad. I want Tbolt ICS, im so giddy to try it out these next few weeks before the source drops will be torture. Atleast they confirmed they will open source this though, won't be anything like trying to get Honeycomb on the G-Tablet. Hmm, speaking of that I can't wait to see what this does with tablets. Hopefully I'll be running in on my tablet and my thunderbolt before the end of next month. Sorry for the long winded post, my mind is running while I lay in bed unable to fall asleep.

I LOOOOOOVED ICS and i cant wait to get it on my TBOLT!!!! and i cant wait to sell my TBOLT and buy myself that nexus!!!!
I watched the YouTube stream, and when it didn't recognize his face it switched to the pattern unlock before they cut away. So there IS a fall back. This is my next has a video up showing it, it looks great and seems very quick.

What I worry about is how secure is it to have the notification drawer slide down when the phone is locked still. I don't remember if they said the phone stayed locked after tapping on a notification or not.
It would make sense that if the phone was locked and you slid open the drawer, tapped on a notification, and then hit back or home, it should bring you right back to the lock screen.
Shoot I have my TB all packed up and ready to ship once its sold on ebay. Nexus and ICS, here I come

The app stated in this post is simply a public service announcement to those that enjoy/want the Windows PC experience on their Android powered device. All rights of this app goes to its respective owners.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Have you ever wanted to get a PC quality experience on your Android powered device, then look no further! Windows XP is now on Android, well sort of. Thanks to the people in team.fluxion, who is no stranger to the development scene and has been pumping out applications since the good old windows mobile PPC days (Windows Mobile 5/6.x for the youngins reading this), as well as Windows desktop applications, we can now get a taste of Windows XP on our device, and for FREE . To save time, I will just use the description from their official Google Play page:
A legendary application for Windows Mobile Pocket PCs is back for Android as a launcher that imitates the look and feel of Microsoft Windows XP right on your Android device. It lets you explore your file system and open different file formats using default programs as assigned in your device. It also provides the common file system operations like copy, cut, paste and delete.
Short sweet and simple, right . This app is brand new (like first release new, hence the "beta" tag it's sporting) but it is amazing, and is very functional and fun for a beta release. I am running this on both my Evo 3D (qHD [540x960 resolution] screen, a bit small, but for those who are android tech savvy with some system partitions root permissions, just modify your build prop on the "ro.sf.lcd_density" line and add 40 to whatever your number is, or experiment with it different numbers. I think there's an app on the market for LCD density modification, too) and my Velocity Micro t408 cruz (its an 8 inch tablet, so no modification is really needed. I set my LCD density to 140 to make the status bar smaller though and it gives you a bit more screen real estate). Without further ado, here is the download link, completely free!
Download it here (Play Store Link) XP Mod Launcher
Oh and P.S. - They have a Windows XP boot animation that's cool too, check it out (surf their website, too) WinXP Boot Animation Android
I'm actually quite impressed. It looks and feels like the real thing.
It's missing the authentic crash every 20 minutes though.
Cheers for the share.

does this need a rooted phone?
Sorry for the ignorant question - but up til now with ICS being finaly an "up-to-par" (by my standards) and there actualy being hardware good enough to run it really nicely, ive always hated using android, hated the android experience completely, but now im thinking of getting my first android phone (galaxy s3) in a month or so and am wondering if i can use this kind of thing on it without rooting... im hoping not, thats the one thing i really waant out of android that i cant get on my iphone or windows phone, the really crazy apps like this without needing a jailbreak or a custom rom/interim unlock, those things make the phones very unstable in my experience and prefer to keep them stock
Wow. It's fun using a whole new type of launcher every once in a while.
Though there have been apps that I can't open but I guess it's to be expected since the launcher is still in beta stage.
THANKS

I'm not really sure by what you mean by "unstable" but the launcher does not require root. I have unrooted and launched with no problems and rooted and launched with no problems.
