Hiya,
Does anyone else get annoyed by the fact that there is no sound or notification when an email is successfully sent? My iphone makes a whoosh sound when sending is complete, which is very reassuring.
On my transformer, I'm left starting at my outbox until it's empty, as it can potentially screw up sending email if a VPN connection is required, or if it has large attachments. Some kind of notification when complete, or percent complete, would be nice.
Think it's possible to add a soud for this event?

Does anyone know how I can disable the annoying "new email notification" that comes out of pocket outlook every time it syncs with the mail server?
I sync my Pocket PC with my Exchange Server and I've tried to turn off the new mail message notification in "settings", "notifications", but that doesn't seem to have made any difference....
Thanks...
I am searching diligently for this solution too. I have it set to check email every ten minutes and unless I view the email (dismiss won't do it), it continues to alert me to new email.
Any help would be appreciated.
Bump.
Has anyone found a solution to this? I have the HTC Touch Pro.
Thanks!
Same here....so want to disable the notification.
did you try settings->events and notifications->notifications
pick messaging new e-mail message
and uncheck the box's ?
Crieky! That was it... Sorry, Windows Mobile is new to me.
sound..
This only removes the sound... I would like the sound, but not the cartoon-speech-bubble indication a for the notification. Same goes for missed calls and SMS'es actually. I mean, I have a 'missed calls' indicator on the today-screen, and SMS and EMAIL show a number next to the touch-flo icon so I can't see why I need the notification-screen at all...

On the same Sounds & Notifications menu you have to untick "Display message on screen"
I was wondering what the simplest/best start menu bar replacement for wm6.5 is... i can't seem to search for the right thing.
I want to replace the entire start menu bar... w/ teh start button, the time, the sound, and notifactions (like wisbar or gigabar used to do back in teh day)
the reason why i want to replace it is because I don't like how my notifications are displayed. Currently, if I have one notification, it shows teh correct icon (missed call or email). But if I have 2 notifications, it shows the generic "notification" icon.
I'd prefer to see separate icons... i.e. a missed call icon, followed by an email icon to indicate these are my 2 notifications.
Moreover, on my phone (ipaq glisten), if I receive an email, the notification will show up on the start menu, but if hte email gets cleared on the server, the ipaq will also clear it (and it won't show up on my today screen), however, the icon remains until i go to the mail app (even though there are no longer any new mails). This is annoying.
Any suggestions? I don't need anything fancy... it's really just the nofications that are bothering me.
Moved as not software release.
i guess my question can be simplifed to:
if i have more than one notification, how can i get them to display separate icons for each type of notifcation (instead of a generic "balloon"/notification icon)?
If anyone has used Windows Mobile Standard (non touch screen), you know what i mean. If i get an email and a missed call, i see 2 different icons on the startmenu/status bar.
my second question is:
if i receive an email, my phone will show the email icon on the start menu bar. this is great. however, if i don't touch my phone (so the icon is still there indicating unread email), and i check the mail on my computer, so it's marked as read, it will also be marked as red on my phon. this is also great. HOWEVER, it will still show the mail status icon in the start menu bar, even though there are no new messages anymore. To clear it, i have to go to the mail app...
bumpity bump... seems like this subforum is dead!
the email thing is still a really annoying issue... after clearing emails on my desktop, and i take a look at my phone, i think i still have new emails.. but i don't... it's just the icon isn't going away until i go to my inbox.
lol already on the third page... i hope i get banned for bumping again.
really, no one knows of a) a fix for my described problem or b) a program which shows all the notifications?

I also find this very annoying! Anyone having a solution for this?
Thanks.
Is there a way to use the text message as an alert system? In other words have an app that sends out alerts and makes use of the text notification system without actually sending a text through the cell towers?
That way apps could make use of the lock screen notifications, etc.
I also noticed that texts coming from numbers like XXXX do not count on your bill. For example marketing texts from MyCokeRewards, etc.
I'm hoping (and praying) that eventually the lock screen api gets opened a little more, or maybe other official or big names have access to it... With that being said, some you do get charged for some of those texts, which is why they always have that disclaimer that standard messaging fees apply. It might be confusing to use a system like that, but I do agree with you with needing at least a section that notifies you that there was SOME sort of third party notification.
Yeah, the phone will not display on screen notification other than what comes with the phone.
So there's no way to trick the phone that it's receiving a message. Can't you have an app that send a text internally to the phone messaging system?
Is there a setting or modification available that can make the phone only alert you that you have a notification every, say... 5 minutes? I don't mean that it'll keep reminding you every 5 minutes for the same notification, I mean that if there are more notifications within 5 minutes of the "first" one, the phone will not alert again.
This would be great for all the scenarios that I can't respond immediately but a friend is messaging me in multiple messages (as is typical behavior in instant messaging). The repeating and sometimes overlapping alerts are bothersome. I still want to know if I got something so I'm not going to just turn off alerts either.
So, is there anything that can help me out?
Anyone?
Hi guys,
On my HTC Sensation I have SMS notifications on with devliery reports. However I do not know how to disable notifications for delivery reports and it seems there is no option to do so.
The phone vibrates and sounds the notification when I receive a delivery report and when I receive an SMS/MMS, however I would rather not have any notifications for delivery reports and just SMS/MMS.
Is this at all possible? I've heard of SMS Popup, but I rather like android's notification system. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers
Edit: Found SMS popup to be a brilliant solution to this problem.
Agreed
I was looking for a solution to exactly the same problem when i found your post.
tried sms popup and it solves it, and also allows for other useful things like repeat notifications and a popup which are great too.
Hi,
Do you want to remove the delivery reports or do you just want to remove the sound and vibration and keep the notification in the notification bar?
If you want to remove the delivery reports, it's a setup.
On my phone with Android 4.0.3, I have to:
- Go to the SMS application
- Enter in the parameters section
- Choose SMS or MMS
- Remove the delivery reports
To keep the notification in the notification without the sound and vibration... I don't know
