Wonder if there are ways to show incoming sms messages right on screen when they arrive... Currently I need to hit multiple buttons before I can read the sms message. Thanks!
Hi
There is an opption in the setting some where for this, sorry not sure where

hi,
install this and you have option wake up device on SMS (or something like this)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=405749
Whenever I got an SMS it automatically displayed the contents on the screen, I don't remember where the setting was but I liked that more. There's a common tweak for wake up on SMS, just search "Raphael Tweaks" and you'll come up with it.
turn it on in the sounds and notifications settings (where you change ringtone, message tone etc).
tick 'display message on screen'
Thanks much everybody!
My email notification at the top of screen will not disappear after the email is read from Outlook. If a new email comes in and the notification pops up, the notification is not removed by the email being read from Outlook. Touchflo3d even correctly shows no new messages but, I still have to click into my inbox to make the WM notification disappear. Unless this is isolated, it must be annoying more than just me.
I cannot find a thread regarding this so, any help would be greatly appreciated.
Stock Inspire
Using stock e-mail program
If I have unread e-mail messages, the phone will beep with the sound notification every time it checks for mail, until I open the e-mail app. Even if I have not received any new mail, it will beep when it checks for mail until I open the program.
So if I receive a message at 1pm, and it it set to check for mail every 10 minutes, I will receive a sound notification at 1:10, 1:20, 1:30, etc. until I actually open the e-mail app.
Is this normal? Is there a setting I can chage where it will only beep once upon receipt of a new message? I looked thru the settings and couldn't find anything.
Thanks.

Anyone else experiencing this?
This is happening for me too on Gmail.
It is also happening with my txt message. In addition to that, when it plays my txt msg notification, at the very same time it plays my default sound (so it is playing two sounds at the same time).
Are there setting for these that I haven't seen yet?
Thanks.

Do you have a third party messaging program like Handcent or Chomp installed?
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA Premium App
How do you turn off specific notifications?
I just received my Inspire today and I'm having similar issues.
I've used Windows Mobile and iPhone for years. This is my first Android phone.
Everything is right out of the box with the stock ROM and no additional apps loaded. The only thing I did was setup my Exchange email accounts.
With Windows Mobile and the iPhone I was able to turn off notifications for new emails, but leave it on for text messages and calendar reminders. I receive a large number of emails and I need to have the email notification sound and vibration turned off.
So far I have found where to set your notification sound and where to turn off all notification sounds. I have not figured out how to turn offf just the email notification sound.
Each program has its own notification settings.
Go to mail -> menu - > more - > settings -> notification settings and there you are.
In gmail - menu -> more -> settings -> scroll down to email notifications
Messages - menu -> settings -> received notification

Thanks for the quick response.
An an Android newbie, I was looking for it in the main settings app, not in the mail program itself. I was able to turn off the email notifications and keep the other notifications on.

That is one of the big difference in iOS and Android. In Android you use the menu button within the app you are using to set the specific settings for that app. In iOS you go to the settings area to change setting for all of the apps. It took me a while to get used to when I made the switch last year. I got used to it and now it just makes sense to change settings within the program, not have to leave the program and do it somewhere else.
Ok so I looked around the search tool in general forums, could not find anything.
Q1. how can I disable the vibrate on touch screen when moving an app?
Q2. how to disable vibrate when receiving a phone call? I have un-checked the vibrate for all that I can find. now I have notice that when its in pocket to does but when its out of pocket on my desk I dont get a vibrate. I see the un-checked for increase sound when in pocket.
Q3. How do I set up the text messages for the FB icon to show the profile pic when I text someone. I had it before but dont remember how to set it back I did the link and sync to FB and FB sense still shows a grey person when I text someone.
also Q is a little different but what about changing the slide down to answer a call or just to unlock your screen I know about widget locker but can I just change the lock screen.?
Also I dont as instant alerts for emails for EX: I have made this thread and went to the email part and click instant email notification some times I ll refresh the page on the pc and I would see someone replied and but still email alert untill I open the mail icon. any reasons why I did do some adjustments to the peak and off peak still not a 100% sure on what the really telling me.
thanks for the help.
Hi,
Can't find that setting anymore neither in Phone app settings nor in Reminders settings.
Not available anymore?
Thanks!!!
Well.. you need to slide up during a call and Remind me in 1 hour option is on the top of the text message list.
Who could have thought..
