[Q] Is HTC Inspire 4G bootloader locked?

I have tried to search on web, but i could not find concrete answer to this question: Is Inspire's bootloader locked? And, yes, you may assume that i am new to android ...
I've bought Atrix 4g from ATT at its full price, but i've returned it because the bootloader is locked and i did not like the screen ... I'm coming from Nokia E72 ...

Technically yes, but the phone can be rooted and rom'd through a process of downgrading the boot image to an exploitable one allowing you to do as you please with your device.

[Q] noob rooting question

I'm new to this website and new to rooting. I've read on how to root and its all confusing. Can someone direct me to a website with a more simple way of explaining how root and also what is the best Rom to flash to? Or is that a matter of opinion?

There is so much of that info on here. You just have to search for it. There is a good chance this thread will be closed. You should start with the stickies then use the search button.

On average how long does it take to download the ace hack kit? And would yall recommend me being a noob to do this?

Everyone was a noob. We all used the hack kit or some other variant. Any method will come with exact instructions. If for some reason you mess up, those instructions will have always to fix it. If not, it's a guarantee that you are not the first one to have it. In other words, there is a thread specifying exactly how to fix it. If are can read, copy/paste, and follow directions exactly, you will be fine. We've all been there. Root it now, and then have fun picking from the ample supply of great roms that are available.

Indeed! Just as Inarius03 said, everyone had to start from the beginning at some point. It cannot be stressed enough: read everything! I am still reading through everything and it can feel overwhelming sometimes. But if you take it slow and do your homework, it can be quite fun.
For me, the process that works is: read the manual for the hack kit and/or rom and follow the forums for a few days to understand what issues people are facing. Come up with a couple of "backup plans" in case something goes wrong, and this will go a long way toward making you feel more comfortable with the idea of rooting and flashing your phone.

Follow the advice that the previous posters have given you. I would recommend you use Attn1's hack kit as being the most reliable and now the easiest to use. Before downloading the hack kit and during the procedure turn off any anti virus or spyware software. This is the step where most people cause themselves problems without even realizing it. Read so that you are familiar with the procedure and don't worry, it is easier than you think. Depending on your internet connection it will not take long to download.

root help. htc inspire

Hi i am new to rooting and everything i have the htc inspire 4g and when i try to root it it will start rooting and do its thing i downloaded the hack from this website but then it will say eaarr and it will go to the stat up menu and say htc in green with white back round and just fade away and thats all it will do now this is my 5 htc inspire and it keeps doing this and i really want to root it but im scared to do it again because it all ways messes up can you help ?? now i have a new htc inspire and did not root yet but want two so ill wait for some good help till i do it again thanks.

WOW!! Incredible how people time and again get soo lazy they refuse to help themselves by reading. This is a DEV SITE, NOT A HELP SITE! We expect you to do research and help yourself before you ask questions that have time and again been answered. Do yourself a favor and go to the hack kit thread and read the entire thing. It's not difficult assuming you have a reading level above the 3rd grade. You'll probably notice that you either did one of two things: you either didn't follow a step or you didn't see that there is an IRC chatroom to help people with issues during the rooting process. PLEASE SEARCH AND READ before you destroy your phone.

HAHA jerk? I see basic grammar has escaped you HERE, WHICH leads me to believe that you don't have a reading level above the 3rd grade. The hack kit is a simple tool provided you take the time to read everything, which includes both effen maunal and the OP in that thread. I can tell you didn't read ****? you wanna know why? because if you read the entire OP you would see that there is an IRC chatroom dedicated to helping those with issues during the rooting process using the hack kit. Stop being lazy. THIS IS A DEVELOPMENT SITE, NOT HOLD YOUR HAND BECAUSE I CAN'T READ FOR MYSELF SITE..something you don't comprehend.

I logged in just so I could chime in on this one.
Calling people names is rude and not tolerated here. If you were to answer as many questions here as some of us have you would understand the lack of patience and intolerance we sometimes express. That being said, bacon boy is right that you need to do a little more reading in the hack kit thread, if you don't find your answers there you can log onto the irc server and get help there. No offense but starting a new thread because you do not feel like doing a little bit of searching and reading on your own is pretty thoughtless and lazy. Like I said before pretty much all info you need is in the hack kit thread and in the effen manual and on the irc channel. Don't call people names here. This isn't kindergarten. Hope you get your issues sorted out.

HTC Inspire

I can see all sides of this arguement. I know the feeling of "UhOh, I just bricked my phone" its frantic and scary. On the other hand when I started on XDA and was poking around reading this and that before making my move. I kept seeing. "DO YOUR RESEARCH, READ THIS, READ THE EFFEN MANUAL IT'S IN THE EFFEN HACK KIT". So I did. For 3 days I read every bit of info before downloading anything. As far as the devs I get how so many questions about nonissues can be frustrating and make you want to choke slam a stranger. But it does all boil down to the rules of XDA.
Read everything, all posts in a thread AMD the Q&A thread of whatever you initially looking at and only post if you can find the answer somewhere else. But most of all read the instructions.
Are you 100% sure you totally bricked all 4 of your previous phones? Be wise there's been at least 4 times I thought I bricked mine. And they aren't cheap so youu may want to be sure of that because it seems you probably have just spent a grand on phones. Sorry for your troubles. Cyrax is a good guy and I'm sure he can help with whatever the issue is.

Agreed please read up on what your doing. Modding the software on your phone is no simple thing. Yes it has been made easy but in no way is it simple. Please read up and search. What ever happened believe me your not the first to have it happen.

Well, It seems that you didn't read much...in the first post among other bullets you have these:
"...Do NOT use earlier versions Ace Hack Kit (12.x and lower) on Inspire or DHD devices shipped with Gingerbread.
- Do NOT attempt to downgrade a Inspire or DHD shipped with Gingerbread with a Froyo RUU..."
That means that Gingerbread shipped phones are supported but have to be carefull not to do certain things such as installing eng S-OFF. You have to read the effen manual as well and you will find out all you need to know....you shouldn't have opened a thread with a question that is self contained in the Hack Kit thread and the effen manual.

Mods...I recommend closing this before it become a huge mess. You all know what I'm talking about.
Op...please search the hack kit thread for your answers. Opening this will only cause problems. Please search and you will find your answers.

Yes, it is in the thread. Yes, it does work with gingerbread. I had my Inspire since the end of Feb and kept it stock most of the year. After the gingerbread update, at Thanksgiving, I finally rooted it. Took all of 6 minutes to get it done. Easy, fast, and painless. Just read and you can't go wrong. Also, search is your friend.

Please search before opening a new thread. As well as really read everything carefully in the OP before you do ANYTHING. What You are doing should not be taken lightly. You could end up with a very big brick and be very upset with no one to blame but yourself.

I have a Inspire I just recently picked up from a friend, and was wanting some expertise in how to root, and what not. I noticed in the forums aahk is not longer supported. Is the easy ace root tool supported then.. I kind of new to htc phones, but I know a good bit about flashing and what not. If I could have a little guidance, much thanks will be given.

There are countless posts in this section that offer great information for what you need to know. There are also countless YT vids that will help you through this process.

I understand and all, but everything read is not relevant to within the last month or so.. Everything is older, as I was just looking for some help on what would be the most relevant and smoothest today. I've done some reading, and it appears the ace hack kit is the most recent. But I have noticed others have problems with it at the same time and was just looking for guidance..
