People who are stuck with 4.5.1-134_DFP-13XX Kernels and or any BL6 SBFs may now freely switch between any kernels they require.
Say for example, to upgrade to Walter's fixed SBF of 4.5.3_109 Kernel from 4.5.1-134_DFP-13XX, do the following.
1. Flash Defy-BL6Downgrade-CDT.sbf through RSD Lite.
2. Flash walter's 4.5.3_109 kernel sbf right away after that or an update zip package if you have a functional recovery. (Actually, you may flash any kernel. Even Froyo kernels)
You're done.
Wipe data/cache in case you get stuck at boot. No more bootloader errors.
This is based on http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1486731
Credits go to dlhxr.
Note: If you have an SBF which you want to flash after this, just the BL6Downgrade-CDT.sbf is enough.
If you want to get into a custom recovery (only if you already have it), then you have to flash BL6Downgrade.SBF, or you will end up with a Bootloader ERR screen.

It cannot work with BL7,
because it is bl=6 2.2 Froyo SBF。
after you flash the SBF you can flash any BL>=4 kernel.
I just try it yesterday, so great.
So, i will try this.
I want so much use the MIUI on my Defy+
I can downgrade it using this method?
Hey guys,
I tried the steps mentioned above.
I had the 4.5.1-134-DFP-231 on my Defy+ and wasn't able to root it.
So I downloaded the Defy-BL6Downgrade.sbf and the 4.5.2-109-DHT-22-fixed.sbf and flashed them in this order with RSD Lite 4.9
Now my screen stays completely black. But it seems to enter the boot loader as RSD Lite shows the device as "connected..."
When I flash again, the screen turns on and shows "SW Update In progress".
But still no screen...
Any help on that?

For now only what you can do is reflash it with DFP-231 to make it working and waiting for root like everyone with BL7.
Defy Plus 4.5.1-134 DFP-231 CEE
So we could say this is the ultimate setup for those with Obsessive-ROM Updating Disorder? So we can move freely between froyo and gb without flashing full sbf every time?
I can go to Froyo with flash this downgrade fix?

Really ? Froyo kernel on a BL6 ?
Updated: Only flashing the CDT is enough to switch to another ROM. But that works only if you can flash another SBF, as the Bootloader with ERR would be shown right after.
In case you're planning to flash through recovery flash the one with the entire kernel. The BL6Downgrade.sbf [34MB] file. Or if you have an sbf of the next kernel you want to flash, then flashing just the BL6Downgrade-CDT is enough.

Hi everyone,
I've tried looking around for answer to this, but could not find anything, or at least could not find anything that said it explicitly.
So the OTA update is now live in the USA, but here in New Zealand no OTA update is available.
Im on stock 2.3.6, and unrooted, and when searching for updates nothing is found.
Is there any way to manually apply the US 4.0.4 official update? Such as flashing an official fxz file?
Would be really appreciated if someone could help me out in lamens terms!
Thanks!
If you have an at&t phone follow the instructions here to get on the leak http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1779968
After that you can OTA to the official, but we can't FXZ back from the official yet, so staying on the leak is still recommended.

Hi, thanks for the answer.
It does not have stock AT&T, so is it still okay to follow the linked process?
Currently:
System version = 55.1.28.MB865.TNZ.en.NZ
Android version = 2.3.6
Kernal version = [email protected]#1
Baseband version = 2012-02-03 07:56 Off.Bld LUD_EDISON_R1E_PATCH_24_120203_0746 ... (just in case this would create an issue doing OTA update?)

ins't there any way to update, like other phones using cwm and instaling a custom rom?
DIDNT HAVE ENOUGH time to finish post, will finish soon, got school right now so dont start till i have finished it!!!
EDIT: finished
Heya fellow NZ'er, I got my motorola atrix 2 on ICS , and im here to help!
So follow these steps to get it working, First off, get moto-fastboot, extract it, and get the all the files inside into C:/Users/*Your name*/HERE.
Once that is done, get this file WARNING: its around 350MBs. Extract that file into C:/Users/*Your name*/HERE So that you have a whole bunch of .img files and a few otheres in there.
Ok now the tricky part, flashing the files.
MAKE SURE YOUR BATTERY IS FULL!!!!
Put the Atrix 2 in fastboot mode by turning it on while holding power, vol up and vol down all at the same time. (I prefer holding vol up and down together first, and pressing the power button.) then press vol down to get to a selection called "AP fastboot" and then press volume up.
Once there, make sure it has installed the right drivers (Should be like Mot single somethingarather device) and then go to start and type cmd in the search bar. go to the program and then once in command prompt, type in:
Code:
moto-fastboot devices
Then your phone should show up. Next just copy this and right click and paste into Command Prompt
Code:
moto-fastboot flash mbm allow-mbmloader-flashing-mbm.bin
moto-fastboot reboot-bootloader
Wait for it to come back again from reboot
Code:
moto-fastboot flash mbmloader mbmloader.bin
moto-fastboot flash mbm mbm.bin
moto-fastboot flash cdt.bin cdt.bin
moto-fastboot flash lbl lbl
moto-fastboot flash logo.bin logo.bin
moto-fastboot flash ebr ebr
moto-fastboot flash mbr mbr
moto-fastboot flash devtree device_tree.bin
moto-fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
moto-fastboot erase userdata
moto-fastboot erase cache
moto-fastboot flash system system.img
moto-fastboot flash webtop grfs.img
moto-fastboot flash preinstall preinstall.img
moto-fastboot flash radio radio.img
moto-fastboot flash boot boot.img
moto-fastboot reboot
Now hold the phone.(Literally) Now it may seem bricked. Well thats what happened to me.
Anyway take the battery out, and wait a Full 5-10 mins (And i mean actually get a stopwatch if you have to), then put it back in then leave it to charge for about 5-10 mins (Even though it was full when you started RIGHT??).
Now it should boot up normally and on its way to ICSdom!
Hey, cheers for the reply!
Is that the firmware from the "Atrix 2 MB865 Firmwares SuperThread (Ice Cream Sandwich)" thread?
Just wondering if I will be able to get back to current/an NZ version after flashing that? My atrix 2 still has over 2 and a half years of warranty remaining so, kind of want to keep it under warranty if possible. I'm sure if its sent in with firmware that doesnt match the IMEI, it will be coming straight back :S

- you may have to open the zip and edit the xml, and delete the 2 lines "<step operation="getvar" var="max-download-size" />" if you get unknown command fastboot getvar max-download-size
- do not flash Sprint firmware to phone from Cellular US and vice versa unless you know what are you doing!!!

Anyone mind giving the cliff notes on *how* to fastboot the files manually? Will it work on stock recovery?
Added Sprint US 7.7.1Q-6_SPR-125_ASA-14.
Re: [01-23-2013]Photon Q FXZ
Does this restore stock recovery as well? If so it's definitely easier than restoring a stock nandroid and recovery.img and taking the ota update. My understanding is the latest fxz is stock asa14?
Sent from my XT897 using xda app-developers app
Yes, it is fully stock and independant on the current device state, so you can flash it, then flash recovery and then nandroid. You just might need to remove the "get var" fastboot commands from the xml in order to get it flashed.
Re: [01-23-2013]Photon Q FXZ
So this is similar to an SBF file where it restores your phone to stock if you want to start over new? Would it be wise to wipe everything before using it? (After a backup of course)

so this means there is some kind of bootloader lock on downgrading from the latest firmware? maybe they did that so people can't go back and use Motofail2go or something? is your bootloader unlocked by the official method?
Does it matter which firmware you flash or does it have to be the one that was on the phone before? Got a failure message in RSD lite and im not sure if it was cuz of low device battery or wrong version. My phone was bought new and bricked on the December firmware, whichever that was.
If you have low battery, discharge it completely, then plug to charger and leave it be, so it doesn't try to boot when plugged in to the charger.
If you get failure message in RSD lite, read it
But you can just flash latest FW.
Sorry Im really hung over today didnt mean to geek out. Didnt realize I already posted here! Is flashing with RSD lite really as easy as it seems to unbrick a phone?
I honestly don't recall whether Photon Q charges in fastboot when connected via USB. However, if you leave it in fastboot until it discharges completely, and then plug it to a wall charger (!and leave it there be), it will start charging in "emergency mode" i.e without booting.
Does NOT charge in FastBoot mode. Might overheat if left in recovery after restore.
I just wanted to follow up and say this was a shockingly easy method of restoring a bricked device. Just 3 easy steps.
Hi guys. Not so long ago cspire PhQ came to my hands.
Bootloader locked.
Trying to power on - stuck on moto logo, then restarts and everything is repeated.
Tried to flash stock ICS and JB roms.
When flashing ICS phone does not like boot.img (says - No Downgrades).
When flashing JB fully , on the last rebooting it starts doing the same thing, so nothing changes....
Sprint stock roms do not even start flashing. On sbl1 - flashing failed.
Any suggestions guys?
You are using the RSD Lite application to flash the FXZ files I assume?
If yes, you should NOT grab the Sprint FXZ's... It states that pretty clearly in the OP.
For a proper downgrade, you have to remove some additional lines.
For the JB flash, that is odd - which version of RSD are you using?

I put together a couple nice little Batch files for you guys. Tool is for windows only
This is what they can do for you
1. Relock a unlocked bootloader and complete wipe device back to android 4.4.2 along with fixing the Unlock logo
2. Full Restore to android version 4.4.2 including a full wipe
3. Full Restore to android version 4.4.2 NO WIPE
4. Flash Moto Logo to replace the unlock bootloader Logo
To run any of these scripts you must be in bootloader mode / Fastboot Mode
Power off Device
hold both volume up and down then power
hold all buttons for 3 seconds then release
this will put you in bootloader mode
Now run the script you want to run
check out this video of me using the scripts

Yes you can relock and unlock the bootloader with the same code you unlock it with the first time.
when you got the device the bootloader is status code 0 locked once unlocked it is status code 3 and relocked is status code 2.
now you can bounce between status code 2 and 3 locked and unlocked with the bootloader unlock code.
So if I wanted to completely restore my phone back to when I first got it out of the box, does this tool do that?
Would the "Restore US_retail_XT1032_KXB20.9-1.8-1.4_CFC" .bat work like this?
Because for some reason, all of my ringtones that came with the phone just disappeared and I wanted to get them back.

that bat file will restore and delete everything from the phone but you will keep the unlocked bootloader if you unlocked it

How would I do this (replace the firmware) for XT1032 GB Retail version? I would need VERY basic instructions!! I have downloaded it to my laptop running Windows 7, it is - RETAIL-GB_4.4.2_KLB20.9-1.10-1.9_cid7_CFC_1FF_v5_SVC.xml.zip -
1 question please
I have the moto g 1033 version can i download my phoe's factory file and replace with the US zip file in your tool to flash my 1033 stock system???
What's the point of Unlocking the bootloader againi if your warranty is already voided
even if as a means for selling to other person he will get phone the already without warranty..

So the people here rooting there phones doesn't love warranty or what ??
as no one is working on exploit or something that will allows us to doesn't lose our warranty with unlocking bootloader?
In the Netherlands, the retailer is responsible for warranty by law. They cannot simply forward me to the manufacturer. Additionally, consumer law dictates warranty cannot be void for manufacturing errors by a mere software mod. Therefore I don't care for those intimidating "your warranty is now void" claims.

I always get a fastboot.exe error when i run any of the scripts and it crashes, but it loads back up and still goes through the install but I get alot of errors the whole time. what am i doing wrong?
Problem with your script and going to stock for example with GB tesco roms is that in your script:
Code:
%fastboot% flash system system.img_sparsechunk[B][U]1[/U][/B]
%fastboot% flash system system.img_sparsechunk[B][U]2[/U][/B]
%fastboot% flash system system.img_sparsechunk[B][U]3[/U][/B]
And in packages of GB rom there are system.img_sparsechunk0, system.img_sparsechunk1, system.img_sparsechunk2.
So people be careful.
