NOTES
- use at least RSD Lite 6.1.5 (maybe 6.1.x will work too) or you get an error on flashing system.img.ext4
- you may have to open the zip and edit the xml, and delete the 2 lines "<step operation="getvar" var="max-download-size" />" if you get unknown command fastboot getvar max-download-size
- do not flash Sprint firmware to phone from Cellular US and vice versa unless you know what are you doing!!!
RSD Compatible?

You can try using fastboot and flash manually.
Lookin into it.

Thanks, idk how to flash system (or would I just flash this whole file?) in fastboot. Looking into that now, because "advanced tech support" at sprint doesn't know how to restore my data, lol.
EDIT: Works
I guess I just needed a newer RSD lite version 6.0 here: https://hotfile.com/dl/174582400/60ad26d/RSDLite_6.0.rar.html
I still had to remove the getvar commands from the .xml but phone took the flash finally! It's activating now. Thanks again Skrillax for this, hoping this firmware is more stable than the first update.:good:

Anyone mind giving the cliff notes on *how* to fastboot the files manually? Will it work on stock recovery?
Added Sprint US 7.7.1Q-6_SPR-125_ASA-14.
Re: [01-23-2013]Photon Q FXZ
Does this restore stock recovery as well? If so it's definitely easier than restoring a stock nandroid and recovery.img and taking the ota update. My understanding is the latest fxz is stock asa14?
Sent from my XT897 using xda app-developers app
Yes, it is fully stock and independant on the current device state, so you can flash it, then flash recovery and then nandroid. You just might need to remove the "get var" fastboot commands from the xml in order to get it flashed.
Re: [01-23-2013]Photon Q FXZ
So this is similar to an SBF file where it restores your phone to stock if you want to start over new? Would it be wise to wipe everything before using it? (After a backup of course)

just a heads up to others i Flashed this one instead of doing the OTA and then i tried to flash one of the older versions and RSD Lite lite failed. on the phone fastboot screen said error firmware was not downgradeable
this helped me to unbrick mine after ota update.
thanks, fixed it with RSD lite latest version, and flasing worked good
I broke my device. Thanks for this so I can fix it maybe.

so this means there is some kind of bootloader lock on downgrading from the latest firmware? maybe they did that so people can't go back and use Motofail2go or something? is your bootloader unlocked by the official method?
Does it matter which firmware you flash or does it have to be the one that was on the phone before? Got a failure message in RSD lite and im not sure if it was cuz of low device battery or wrong version. My phone was bought new and bricked on the December firmware, whichever that was.
If you have low battery, discharge it completely, then plug to charger and leave it be, so it doesn't try to boot when plugged in to the charger.
If you get failure message in RSD lite, read it
But you can just flash latest FW.
Sorry Im really hung over today didnt mean to geek out. Didnt realize I already posted here! Is flashing with RSD lite really as easy as it seems to unbrick a phone?
I honestly don't recall whether Photon Q charges in fastboot when connected via USB. However, if you leave it in fastboot until it discharges completely, and then plug it to a wall charger (!and leave it there be), it will start charging in "emergency mode" i.e without booting.
Does NOT charge in FastBoot mode. Might overheat if left in recovery after restore.
I just wanted to follow up and say this was a shockingly easy method of restoring a bricked device. Just 3 easy steps.
Before I tell you my problem I'm going to outline the process I went through to get too it.
1) I upgraded my 2.3.6 Atrix 2 to ICS 4.0.4 on the Telecom NZ OTA update.
2) I attempted to flash my device to the Asian Atrix 2 Jelly Bean leak
3) Flash failed in process 1/14
My phone now boots to fast boot, however I can still start my phone by entering the recovery menu and selecting boot up normally (or whatever it is, I forgot the exact words)
Telecom NZ users seem to all have this problem when trying to to do this. How can I fix it so it doesn't start to fastboot?
Also what happens if my battery dies in fast boot mode?
Thanks William

Those are not fxz,s they just install like a rom.
I was on official stock ICS i took complete backup of my Stock rom and flushed ICSupercharged one, It was working fine on it, than i flushed MIUI ROM using "Boot Menu Manager" than i tried to flush restore my stock rom, for that i formated data, system etc and tried to restore Stock rom it failed due by error, checksum mismatch. Now my mobile is in Soft Brick condition, i followed this post too Soft Brick using RSD Lite 6.0 , Soft Boot with "InlineFlashing_Edison_67.21.125_CFC_P3_APBP.xml.zip" Rom but did't work for me it gives error while flushing
First of all that is flashing a ROM. Not flush.
Did you flash the right fxz via RSD Lite?

Yes my mobile is ATT i was downloaded rom from your given link i tried Fastboot with RSD light and i get "allow-mbmloader-flashing-mbm.bin phone returned failed" error, and if i flush MIUI rom or any other which i was flushed before and was working fine .
I changed my pc now it flush but keep progressing
i was using it on 32 bit machine when i tried to flush it on 64 bit machine, it gives keep progressing at "2/19 reboot-bootloader" and dont progress
I had a similar problem using RSD. (see my original thread)
Try using a script as detailed in this thread
Hey I have seriously screwed up my phone. I was having a random call issue and CSpire suggested doing a factory reset and reprogram. I was have TWRP on my photon so I decided to use it for the wipe. I chose to wipe system, thinking it would do a better job then just a factory reset. Well now I have no rom. Using twrp or cwmrecovery and neither will flash my backup or custom rom. Using rsd lite and trying to go back to stock and it fails at different points. First it failed to flash at step one giving an error about unknown fastboot command {getvar} so I did a search and found suggestions to delete those lines. I did then it failed top flash at {oem} so I did another search and found suggestions to delete those lines. So I did and now I am stuck at step 17/22 and I get a message flashing failed at 17/22 flashing system "system.img". I have been trying since yesterday with no luck. My battery is 100% at the moment. Can someone please point me in the right direction. The closest I have found to a solution was in the Atrix forum and it gave a manual step by step instruction but being new to this I do not understand it. It is found here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2110626
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Yes that is correct. Also, in RSD under device properties, it shows n/a by everything. Not sure if that is helpful or not.
So i have a Droid Razr Maxx HD xt926
it is on the latest 4.2.1 ota
It was starting to run slow, so i figured it was time to root and get a custom rom. but what i didn't realize is you cant unlock boot-loader.
So i rooted the phone, no issues. i tried to flash TWRP and CWM and both failed.
So when i go to recovery all i get is a black screen with white writiing that says
AP Fastboot Flash Mode (s)
10.9B(#) (sha-1e9f, 2013-05-25 01:04:26)
eMMC info: Size 32GB
Divice is LOCKED, Status Code: 0
Battery OK
Connect USB
Data Cable
Failed to hab check for recovery: 0x56
Fastboot Reason: Boot Failure
I can exit out and get back to android.
Since i can get the bootloader unlocked (at least i dont think there is a way) i want to flash everything back to factory, it can be unrooted as well. just want a clean start on it.
any help would be great thanks.

If the bootloader is locked, it's highly unlikely that attempting to flash a recovery would've touched the stock recovery. With that being said, you can use one of the utilities to flash back to completely stock or use RSD and flash the most up-to-date XML from here:

I've never had to modify the XMLs to work in RSD, but you might have to for some of them. You can swap files in the utilities and put the newest update in there. Also, flashing your zip or any other zip should clear the flash fail.

boot the phone up (just power on), after on plug it into your pc, use the tool i posted in #5 (just going off what RikRong said, any successful flash should clear the failure) flash "stock recovery", let it reboot and see if its fixed.
if its not fixed, im still under the impression you will have to do one of 2 things to fix it from what i read others post previously,
-replace the files in matts utility with the latest ones from the stock files, or
-modify the xml file in the latest sbf to get rsd to work without failing

My screen says all of that also.
its says its locked and the battery is ok and all of that
I was trying to root my phone which was unsuccessful.
Now I cannot start and run my phone properly.
when it comes on it has me choose a language and press start and then acts like its loading and says it may take a few minutes. It will do that for hours and never move on to the next step.
How did you fix yours and recover it?
None of the other options on the reboot screen work...
I had tried:
normal start up
AP fast Boot
Recovery
BP Tools
They all lead to the same thing with the language selection and so on.
What can I do?

if you have a 925 do NOT use ^^ that. you will have to use rsd instead.

on the bootloader screen it says "status code 3" correct?
you cant flash cwm or twrp with fastboot?
what exactly is it doing or not doing and does the flash dialog indicate it flashing ok?
you imply, you cant boot into recovery, then say a factory reset wont work. what happens exactly in either of those attempts?
after you flash a custom recovery, you have to power off the phone and boot right into it and flash the su zip (do not boot the system in between), you know that correct?
any other info you can provide that i may have left out could be helpfull in getting this working for you.
Hello everyone,
I know this tread is old but, I have a problem and I hope someone here can help me. I have a mot razr 926 with these specs:
android version 4.1.2;
System version 9.30.1.XT926.Verizon
Kernel 3.0.31 ( I believe is stock)
Build number 9.8.1Q-94-1
My phone was rooted before with stock rom; I had to do a factory reset; so I reset, rooted again and my mistake it was trying to unlock the bootloader ( I know, I know, it's 9.30....)
Now my problem is that I don't have "recovery" or I don't have access to it. Things that I have tried:
Moto utility 1.34
Moto utility 1.3 gpt fix
Razr HD Recovery flasher V7 (tried to install cwm and stock)
I'm just trying to get any recovery working.... any help would be appreciated
Thanks

Have you tried the stock recovery??, it can be tricky to get into stock recovery by pressing the correct combination of buttons
EDIT: You can use RSD Lite to update your phone to 182.46.10 and use Towelroot to re-root the phone. Once rooted, you can use Motoapocalypse to unlock bootloader.
