I got my transformer on Monday and having syned it with my google account all is well.
However yesterday I was presented with the message "Low on Space Tablet storage space is getting low"
When checking the settings I am told that I have used 12.8gb for apps!!!
This is not possible. Looking at the xoom forums I can see other users are having the same issues
Any Ideas?
Hi,
More like a suggestion, can you install an app like DiskUsage from the Android market? See what that tells you?
rio
I don't think the Xoom users who had this problem found any resolution except a factory reset.

No I could not install any apps - even after removing a bunch of them.

Thanks I had seen the threads but not read them.
I have since done a full wipe (factory restore) and it has fixed the issue.
In a way this was not too much of a problem as I am getting my transformer replaced because one of the sides where the back meets the metal edge, the back is too thin (pressed in too much) so the metal edge is sharp to touch

On the Android phones you can go into application settings and see (and clear) the memory they use - sounds like an app just filled it up with something? This could be a worry if its one of Asus'es standard apps.

Eeek indeed, but wouldn't they all be made in the same way? ie, all of the pads are lethal instruments?
Don't mean to thread jack, but how much of the internal storage is available for App Installs?
I read somewhere that approximately 14GB is free?
Yes it is about 14gb.
System showing 635mb used 13gb free at the moment

It would appear that Honeycomb is quite different to previous versions of Android, and the remaining 14gb or so is available for apps/data/media whatever.
I guess this is why they don't have a USB storage mode any more, and MTP is used.

Dave
Had the same problem today. Tried to uninstall some apps to see if one of them went "crazy" but didn't solve the problem and...I cannot install other apps. I think I'll have no other choice but reset :-(
Since the reset, I haven't had any problems - if that helps.

This seems to be a honeycomb issue as the Xoom just received an update that fixes the "Application storage errors will not appear unless the device has reached maximum storage capacity." issue.
Maybe ASUS has added the same fix in tomorrows update?
It did it again....
I performed a reset like 2 weeks ago...everything was fine but now again "Low on space". Damn!
I really have to root and then make a backup so if this boring thing happens again at least I'll use the backup. Now what should I do? Reset again, configure everything again, download apps and then after a week maybe do it again?
I also noticed that this happens after some FC with the browser, so happened last time so happened this time.
just noticed this on my transformer too, any solutions except factory reset? i also did the may 13 update but that did not help. i hope asus will push a fix for this soon.
The "low storage" problem happened for me a couple of days ago. I did a factory reset and it went away...for now. Hopefully it won't come up any time soon.
I think Xoom owners are experiencing this problem too. Maybe the next Honeycomb update will fix this problem for all of us.

been having browser fatal crashes all day and I just got this error as well. Any suggestions besides a factory reset?
16gb bone stock transformer.
Well, after trying to access my saved game files and such with no luck I did a factory reset. For some reason before the reset, alot of the info wasnt available in astro file manager or through windows explorer when hooked up to my pc. After the reset, I was able to browse all the files and everything was visible. Not much info available for this problem yet.
Ugh. This is so annoying. I have a HTC inspire all stock. Just the newest update from ATT. Also when I got the phone about 2 months ago I purchased a 16 gig class 2 sandisk SD card and had this error over and over.
So I formatted it in the phone and had zero issues for a month. Now today we went on a trip and I used Google maps with navigation and once I got to my destination and closed out maps and did other things on my phone all of a sudden guess what came back. Yep. SD card removed. This time I received it like 5 times. The last time I pulled both the SD card and battery also I uninstalled the update to Google maps and so far its fine. I just wish they would freaking figure the problem out I'm getting annoyed with it.
Anyone else have this issue yet or a fix for it?

That is pretty dang weird! I have a bone stock Inspire as well. I am using just the 8 gig class 4 SanDisc card that came with the phone and have not had that problem. However, I have not used navigation and only use data when I'm on my home WiFi network. Sorry I can't help you further, maybe one of these other guys on here will be able to help you correct it. I would say try backing up the entire SD card to your computer, to back up all you files on it, and try reformatting from your computer. When I say from your computer, I mean take it out of the phone and get it connected directly to the pc. If that doesn't work, I'm all outta options. Good luck, and let us know if that works or not.

Yeah I will try it when I get home on Sunday. There are a ton of posts on googles site for developers with this same issue across a ton of other phone manuacturers. Some say its 2.2 issue but idk. I am so mad now its doing it again. Now I can lock the screen and 20 minutes later ill unlock and it does the SD card again. I managed to unmount it before it did it again. I wish Google would fix it.
Here is the post I'm talking about. I know it says LG ally but if you see all the posts there are a lot of them different brands.

Hmmm. Let me uninstall weatherbug its worth a shot. I have had it on my phone for a few weeks now without issue tho.

I would wonder if it doesn't have something to do with the slower data transfer speeds of class 2 flash media, but that may only effect the ability to record 720p video.
Hopefully it's a REAL 16 GB card from SanDisk, and not a counterfeit card.
Well I deleted weatherbug app and no SD card inexpecdly removed error. Oh well that's weird. And its a real card I purchased it at Hastings in Richmond ky.
Also slower speed hasn't effected anything. I recorded some videos of my son playing and it was just fine.

I used to have that issue all the time when I was on froyo. I haven't had it at all on gingerbread. I think it is an app2sd problem in froyo.
i saw something similar but with the sim card...
i think it was the door
Well the error is back. God this is annoying as Hell. Once the screen locks when it goes to sleep I guess it comes right back. I tried installing contract killers this morning and it caused it to do this again. So I deleted it and it won't stop....

Do you happen to be running the "Flight Control" game app? It can do strange stuff if you leave it paused for too long (forcing a battery-pullout).
nope no flight control app... well i had to back up my photos and videos online so i can format the card in the phone.... its been about 30 minutes so far so good.. i hope this is fixed... sucks because i lost all my progress on all my angry birds games and everything lol...
Still getting this crap. It's fine unless I access the card on a game. If I play contract killer the first time I open it works fine. But if I close and go back it will say checking integrity of the file it will close out and POP up the sd card error. You guys think heat can do this? It was fine till I drove with maps on and the battery got warm. I just wonder if the card is going bad?
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
Ok so weird. Now that I am home with a WiFi connection I havent received this error at all in 24 hours..... ugh of course when I was in the woods (literally) this past weekend it flipped out and almost messed up my whole weekend. Now I'm home its fine. FML
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
Well that's pretty strange..
Do you get the same sort of problem if your phone is in Airplane mode?
Do you have a mini/micro SD card reader for your PC (or another phone) to try the card in? If so, maybe you could try playing a large video file directly from the card, just to see if stays stable.
Yeah I can try that today. That's a good idea never thought to do that. Now airplane mode I never tried but so far its been two days and no sd card error. I do know I am going to start backing that Dang thing up from now on tho after this.

I have had the Sprint HTC EVO 4g LTE for about 4 months. It's a great phone but I doubt I'll see LTE for quite some time as I'm in a high tourist area where the population explodes over 10x in the summer months then backs down to just the locals in the off season (Myrtle Beach). They wheel in a half dozen COWs for the peak season.
My first EVO phone would not connect data (1 day old) and was replaced then next day. The second phone I rooted via RegawMOD EVO 4G LTE Rooter x64 prior to the first update and after 5 weeks it was replaced due to boot loop. (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1800686) Performance was great until it would not boot. (replaced by Bestbuy as "Junked Out", showed Tampered", "Unlocked")
I'm on my 3rd phone, about 2 months old, kept completely stock but noticed within the last week or so an annoying slow down. It seems that anytime I either close an app or switch to the home page I see the "LOADING..." icon for up to 30-45 seconds before displaying a desktop screen. (Multi-task switching seems okay but slower). It's become quite a pain as the performance seems to have degraded quite a bit. Also when clicking on web URLs I often get 3/4 page loaded when it dumps me back to a desktop screen. (How rude!!) Using stock browser.
I have not allowed any automatic OTA updates hoping to root again when methods have become reliable to do so.
I've checked RAM and I typically have 1.5gb free, local phone storage (10gb) shows 9.7gb free and external (32gb sdcard) with 20.5gb free so I can't see any system resources as a problem.
Is there an app that can debug the file system to determine the reason for this behavior? It has to be the operating system as the problem? I know if I re-root the phone it will rebuild the OS and file system but I'm nervous about the Bestbuy maintenance plan.
Is there any app that can report detail what is causing the slow switching?

I was hoping for an app that would show me what application is slowing me down. I'd hate to have to start all over again...
Sent from my EVO using xda app-developers app
Sometimes there are runaway processes, but Android has a built in task killer which you can use to find any apps that are using too much RAM (however you did say RAM wasn't an issue so I don't think that would help)
I don't think an application is the cause of the slowdown. Maybe a memory leak?
Sent from my DROID2 using xda premium
What's with the internal storage part, that is only used for System-Apps. Maybe this is full, or almost full?
You could try the app "SD-Maid" but it requires root.
I also think a factory reset is the best idea. While a stock ROM is not always...
The only thing I can think of is that I was installing a different browsers I install Chrome and Firefox and they didn't have a any better performance than the stock browser so I uninstalled them..
It's annoying to wait 30-40 seconds waiting for a cached home screen to reload.. everytime...
Sent from my EVO using xda app-developers app
You might try aLogcat. Let it run while the phone lags, then read the log and see if you can figure out what's causing the lag.
Sudden loss of performace
So none of the logging APPs were of any help to me....(I wouldn't know what to look for...) Benchmark tests didn't show any substantial performance loss so the hardware is good.
Unable to stand watching the "Loading...." message for 30-45 seconds every time I went to home was so annoying that I hit the factory reset. Performance has returned to super fast... the same as brand new. I had also installed Chrome and Firefox but uninstalled them because Chrome (no flash support) and Firefox just not ready for mobile. URL box disappeared from stock browser so I had to do the reset.

I'd sooner bet on some app going wild.
i have nothing but problems with this tablet all it does is reboot after reboot i have tried all the jb firmwares and the same happens. i think its so unfair you cant go back to ics even tho there where reboots with that it was less frequent. i think it must be a hardware fault as there are enough jb firmwares but not many people having issues with it . when i installed the deodexed stock rom everytime i pressed the power button it restarted so i put clean rom and that fixed that issue but still reboots about 10 times in an hour. i wish i got a galaxy tab now my friend has no problems with that.
Doesn't sound like common behaviour. I suggest you get it replaced

do you think ad blockers can affect stability as i have now put [email protected] rom but not installed any system specific like adfree or root uninstaller only games and had no reboots yet so far 1 hour 33mins normally would of had about 10 by now also can alternative software keyboards cause it? i was using jellybean keyboard pro but at the mo im just using the stock asus one? is chrome a culprit as well i seem to find crashes when doing google searches and it freezes when i scroll down the screen?

Sounds like a bad internal flash memory, or perhaps just a couple of strategically crappy placed bad sectors of memory. Which is causing your tablet to crash after filling up with some apps and app caches. :-/
Either way, I'd say you have to return it to the store for service.
I think it was a waste of money for me.
I should of just got an android phone or a new laptop.
My first post here. I've been lurking and learning for a year or more and this is the most knowledgeable place I know of.
I have the att version of this tablet and I am having serious crashing issues. I can use an app for about 20 minutes or so and it will blue screen and restart itself. After it happens once it will do it every few minutes until I leave it alone for a while. Sometimes I need to hard restart it and sometimes it will restart on its own but the screen doesn't come on. Only sound. As far as I can tell it's not overheating and this will happen even if I install nothing from the play store and just use the factory apps.
I have reset to factory many times and reinstalled the firmware with kies and that didn't help. I have returned the tablet to att for a replacement and I have the same problem with the replacement. I'm past the 14 days now and would need to return to Samsung but I don't want to do that if there is something I can do on my own.
Anyone else having these issues or can point me in the right direction to fix this?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using XDA Free mobile app
I am sad to say that I am experiencing the same issue. I have noticed that I experience the issue more when playing games and / or when there is a lag in data transfer in an application. I can tell this usually when playing a game that is synchronized with the server I will experience the blue screen of death and when I restart and load the game again the game is several moves behind where I actually was. I usually don't experience this error in a lot of other applications especially word processing applications, but I have noticed that it is an issue. I assume its software related, and though it is frustrating, I'm glad to know I'm not the only one.
For a short time I thought that it was related to frequent use of the touchscreen, but I'm not sure that this is true. I don't feel like mine restarts once every 20 minutes.
Sadly I have not found a solution to the problem. Any help would be greatly appreciated. If anyone needs any logs or system information; if you can tell me how to send it I would gladly send it.

Yes. It is very nice to know I'm not the only person having the issue.
20 minutes is really more of an average. Sometimes I can go longer without an issue but it is guaranteed it will crash.
You bring up a great point that I didn't notice. It is more frequent when it is an app that uses a lot of data.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using XDA Free mobile app
No such issues on the international P905... Not in any of the games I play (It does 6 hours straight without issue) nor in data-heavy apps.
So it's likely AT&T-branded related.
My ATT version occasionally has a few apps that crash. I just restart and usually it's good. It is the same apps that do it so I don't thinks it the tablet.
I am experiencing the same thing on my P907. Can't seem to nail down the culprit.

I had the same issue then realized it was connected to Knox. I had 'Frozen' all Knox connected apps after I rooted an thought that might be it. I did a new root and it worked fine till I installed SuperSu which was not the issue specification but rather the fact that it disables Knox during the installation. I did one more clean wipe then when I rooted this time I just left Knox alone and I have had zero random reboots or crashes and I have not tripped Knox.
No, no root. Stock. I have minimised the frequency by switching from samsung keyboard to the swipe keyboard but it still occurs.

It happened when it was stock and it happens rooted. It's gotten to the point now that I went back to my iPad. I'm not liking the iPad since I've switched but I just can't use the note with it crashing all the time. I don't know what else to try.

I've seen a report or two about stability issues related to micro USB cards. If any of you are using one it may behoove you to try shutting down, removing the card and running without it for a while just to rule that out. Sometimes a corrupted card can do it when an application writes or reads from a particular location of the card. It's worth a shot.
Mine doesn't crash. But I feel it freezes occasionally. Itis actually subtle, but I can feel it. Especially, I certainly feel that my note 3 runs more smoothly then the note pro 12.2. Mine is a wifi version. Has anyone else got the same feeling? How can I optimize the device?

Do you use a microsd card? Most cards are really slow compared to internal memory. The Note Pro seems to install whatever it can on External-sd when adding a new app. Go into application manager to move all apps back to internal storage. See if that helps with the stutters and freezing.

All my apps are installed internally. I got some time to run the benchmark tests and the scores all seemed to be normal. However, in Antutu, the memory score of the note pro is about 60% of the score of note 3. Could the memory be the reason for the stutters?
So I called Samsung and I am sending it in for repair. As I said in my first post I already swapped for a new one at att and I have the same results so I'm not thrilled about sending this in just to have the same issues with whatever they send back to. Be it a new tablet or if they say mine is fixed. I didn't pay over $900 for something I can't use so I will get this resolved one way or another. I will report back when it's returned to me.

I think I may have licked it and not really sure why but I've gone from a dozen crashes a day to zero for the last few days. I went into Kies and did a Firmware Upgrade and told it to completely wipe out all of my data. It downloaded the firmware and reinstalled, I rerooted restored everything from Titanium Backup and its all good so far... Something to consider

im having the same problem. it occurs almost always when im playing games. I thought this device's hardware was top notvh for a tablet but it can only run on the lowest quality settings of most games. im very disappointed.
I experience this too, but it usually happens when the cover is open and it's on the back side of the device, it sometimes interact with magnetic sensor (some little movements of the case) and causes soft-reboot.
Nothing happens if cover is on the front side.
I should have my tablet back tonight or tomorrow depending on UPS. they sent me an email stating they replaced a component (whatever that is) and updated the software. We'll see if that fixes it.
