WM6 on G4 CID-Locked Prophet

Hello,
I am not a really experienced user in ROM upgrading, IPLs, SPLs, and the works. I have read a LOT about these subjects and i still don't understand a few things. Nevertheless i tried.
I own a G4 CID-Locked Prophet (QTEK S200) as described in the title and i tried upgrading to WM6 "just to see" what the hell would it do.
Before trying this WM6 upgrade i tried yet another thing which is kinda risky and actually turned this same S200 into a brick temporarily. I used the known shelltool_bugfixed application to upgrade to AKU 3.3.13 (extract OS from a complete ROM, then replace the OS file with the AKU 3.3.13 one) and it worked. I tried doing the same with clean1 V2 ROM and it bricked it.
I reflashed the Prophet with an original ROM using the novendor-id RUU, thinking it would never bring it to life, but it did. Also upgraded my SPL to 2.13.0001.
Then i tried upgading to clean1 V2 WM6 rom again (Jesus, stubborn guy) just by simply decompressing the files and running "UPGRADE_ROM.BAT". And it worked.
I was REALLY surprised because i read over and over again about this and i had the idea WM6 needed some special IPL and/or SPL and that my device had to be CID-Unlocked before the upgrade.
These are just a few events of yesterday and today with my Prophet which i wanted to share with you. I still find it unbelievable but here i am, running WM6 and happy as hell with it. WM6 really looks awesome and works a treat

If you dont write IPL/SPL without the right CID, you cant use all WM6 Firmwares ;-)

I wish i could understand that, it would help me figure out what i can use on my CID-Locked Prophet and what i can't... before i brick it for good
As i said above, when i "brought it back to life" with an original JamIN rom, it upgraded the SPL to 2.13.0001 (it was 2.10.0001 previously).

Don't know what your are talking about but all wm6 in this forum gave me no problems when i flashed them. Mine is CID locked G4 from ORANGE. So just try. There are lots of alternatives. All working more or less... Find the one better suits your prophet.

Read what i said in the first post. I know it's a bit confusing, but it says there i have successfully flashed my S200 with WM6 (smart1 V2 ROM).
I was just surprised because with all the spread information around WM6, i thought i needed to downgrade to some "special" IPL/SPL version or that i couldn't flash just because my G4 is CID-Locked.
After all, i can just flash about anything without bricking my S200. The only thing i think would brick it is if i downgraded (somehow) the IPL/SPL. Am i correct?

you can only upgrade IPL & SPL
but you can upgrade and downgrade OS
what I really confused about it, what is the relation between IPL&SPL and OS
as I understand, some OS need newer IPL & SPL

as I noticed, there isn't any relation between IPL/SPL and OS
and upgrading SPL doesn't take any profits

I have SPL 2.21 and can't flash to WM6

Hello everyone,
I'm totally lost in this WM6 upgrade.
I've tried everything but i wont get my MDA Vario to flash with WM6.
My MDA Vario is unlocked (sim and CID) but i can't flash it because of my SPL 2.21????
This is what i have done:
installed button's 1.05 ROM
Download & installed lokiwiz - HTC Wizard Unlocker UPDATE Version 0.2b.
But stil my SPL is at 2.21.
Can someone please help me out here??

Both your IPL and your SPL must be 2.xx and higher. After you flashed to Buttons rom. did you reflash to a higher version after after you unlocked and cid unlocked your phone to make sure both IPL and SPL were 2.xx or higher?

I've followed the tutorial:
16. Watch the rebooting of your PDA, if BOTH IPL and SPL are 1.xx then great. Quite probably your IPL will be 1.xx and your SPL will be 2.xx. Rerun the button 1.05 ROM downgrade a second time and it will become 1.x on both IPL and SPL. You don't need to redo the unlocking.
17. My suggestion, take for what it's worth, is to download and install the T-Mobile 2.26 ROM
This will give you a strong 2.26 IPL and SPL to work with.
My IPL was 1.XX after the 1.05 downgrade, but my SPL was still 2.21 even after the rerun.
I have tried to instal T-Mobile 2.26 rom, but it gave an error.

check if you have G3 or G4 unit

I have a 3G device.

I think that you haven't unlocked the phone properly. Read Dr. P's tutorial about unlocking G3 phones.

if your ipl is 1.05 and your spl is still 2.21...then you need to reflash again so that both ipl and spl are 1.05 before you can proceed. ipl and spl should never be different.

WHen you downgrade to the Button rom, in most cases the IPL will change, but the SPL will not. You then have to downgrade again to get the SPL to get to 1.xx . There have been some cases reported where it takes reflahsing the button rom many times (like 8 times or somesuch) before the SPL will finally come down, but you have to complete this step or you will not be CID Unlocked.
Make sure you have your SD card out when you are flashing as this can cause problems.
Good luck, and sorry, but for those that have run into the stuck SPL there hasn't been a real solution other than keep flashing the button rom until it drops down to 1.xx. After that then the CID unlock will be complete and you can then flash the T-Mobile 2.26 rom (or whatever other 2.xx rom you want).

The Dr. P tutorial specifically says this (just not in those words). It tells you (after the last lokiwiz) to watch your screen and that you most likely will still have an SPL of 2.xx and will need to reflash (most people just don't read this and try to move on). The part of about having to reflash numerous times is new though. I've only heard of it a few times, but if you look at the posts from a month or so agao in the Dr P thread on unlocking you'll see where a few people ran into it and it took numerous flashes to finally get SPL to go to 1.xx.

before wm6 roms, every time there was a new rom for wm5 (molski or faria) you'd always get people in the thread mentioning that their ipl and spl are different. in those threads, the advice has always been to reflash a few extra times too. (I personally haven't had any problems with this...but i think i started my unlocking on a 1.8 us t-mobile rom with xelencin's rom...which had an unlocker built into the rom update package).
anyway, the phone's not bricked or anything, so you just have to keep flashing to get it working...

I've re-flashed 3 times but if i understand correct, than i have to retry flashing until SPL and IPL are the same?

yes. ipl and spl should both drop to 1.05. at that point you can go through the unlock and flash back up.

Higher IPL/SPL. Does it matter?

im just curious as to what the main difference is in having an IPL/SPl of, say, 2.25 vs 3.08 or something else. if anyone could help that would be great

higher IPL/SPL is supposed to give faster boot times

If you do some searching, you'll discover that IPLs/SPLs higher than 2.26 tend to cause problems with custom WM6 ROMs. There's no reason to go any higher than 2.26.

No. I do have no problem so far. My IPL and SPL are both 3.08 and using NBD. Very stable and very fast after changing pagepool to 12MB.

I upgraded my os to WM6 and followed the thread in this forum. Then my IPL/SPL is 2.16. Now they are different , my IPL is 1.01 and my SPL is 2.16, does this matter? Did I missed some procedure? Is there a procedure that can make the IPL/SPL with the same number?

You didn't follow the flashing guide. This time, read the entire guide and all of the stickies before you attempt to unlock your phone.

I don't have any problems with IPL/SPL 3.08, its working great with WM6 and it has bit fast booting time, and i believe this is solid as T-Mob's 2.26. Newer Bootloader doesn't have any issue, beside i dont have any lockups after 3.08. Anyways its your own pref. so i prefer 3.08 and radio 2.69.11 for T-Mob users.

you may have missed a step about having to reflash buttons/love rom a few times until both ipl/spl are in the 1.xx. afterwards flash up to a 2.xx rom (recommended t-mobile usa 2.26), then flash to a 3.xx if you want to (floating around, but there is an official t-mobile ver in germany).

i went to upgrade my ipl/spl and i ran into a problem. the ruu tool reset my phone as usual to restart in bootloader but it never came back on. it cut off and now it wont turn on. can someone help? is my phone bricked?

try booting manually into bootloader if that works, restore using the Official ROM that comes from Carrier.
edit: wait are you telling me that you upgraded your IPL/SPL on G4???? with G3.... Dude thats bad sign

Try Googling as well, you might get some ideas and yea good luck bro. I've got a friend who bricked his G4 and revived with those ideas. If you phone is under warranty you can call ATT with last resort and say something happened to your phone when you restarted, never tell them you upgraded the bootloader that is how you messed up.

1 question when your buddys g4 was bricked what was its condition?

T-mobile MDA downgrade Ipl/Spl & WM6 Upgrade Issue

I followed Dr. Puttingham's thread and Yippie's thread to a tee in addition to reading threads in this forum for a good number of hours each day for two weeks. Yesterday, I became brave enough to downgrade my 2.26 Ipl / 2.26 spl; GSM 2.25.11; OS 2.26.10.2 MDA with a goal to upgrade to a custom WM6 rom with touchflo.
* Started with flashing the button rom then cid unlock with lockwiz2b which looked successful no errors but got a 1.xx IPL / 2.26 SPL since I got a 2.26 SPL then
* flashed the wizard love rom then then cid unlock with lockwiz2b which looked successful also but got the same results - a1.xx IPL / 2.26 SPL again then
* flashed the 2.26 T-mobile rom from the Tmobile website then
* flashed NBD 8.3 only to go back to Tmobile's 2.26 rom - DISAPPOINTED after two hours...............
Any assistance would be appreciated without bricking my MDA. Also, I read the thread on how to install a 2.x rom in a cid locked G3, this method appears a little bid complicated and if I need to move forward with this method, would this method work for any WM6 rom with touchflo and if somebody could simplify the method in layman's terms for newbie's like me could understand, please advice.

After u do cid unluck and sim unluck and its reboots do a downgrade again to the button rom and ur ipl and spl will change.(u do not have to re-due the onlucking procedure again)

I tried again performing Dr. Puttingham's CID unlocking process in terms of flashing the button rom then the CID unlock process using Lokowiz2b but while I am at the DOS screen trying to CID unlock my MDA it the DOS screen showed unlocking phone........DO NOT DISCONNECT UNTIL THE PHONE REBBOTS.
This process went on for 5 then 10 then past 30 minutes until I gave up. To be on the safe side I turned off the LAPTOP by taking the battery then pulled the USB cable from the PC to the MDA.
What is the typical timeframe for the unit to CID unlock? Why is is it hanging? Am I missing or skipping the process? How can I complete the process?
Any help would ber greatly appreciated by newbies who read threads.

The problem is that you need to have an IPL/SPL of 1.xx before you try to unlock your phone. CID unlocking will not change your SPL which means that you had an IPL of 1.xx and an SPL of 2.26 before you even tried to unlock. You need to reflash the button ROM over and over until your IPL and SPL both show 1.xx and then run lokiwiz.

dont get your point, i have been using shelltool for ages without any problems and quite a lot custom roms. my SLP/IPL is 3.08.

if your device doesn't reboot almost at once after the unlock, it probably didn't work. That is what happened to me. Did you get four lines of File cannot be opened or a similar message? I got that from following the 17 steps carefully. What was wrong for me was unzipping to the root directory of C:/. When I redid it to the desktop and executed from there, no problemo.
Your symptoms sound exactly like mine. I posted a longer thread, somewhere....

Ok i did a little booboo and yesterday was using equinoxe's softspl tool by mistake (didn't notice i had a g3), this causes you to actually end up with the exact same os you had before you flashed.
The best advice I can give: Open the Dr's guide and follow every step closely. (also just found this guide. Its a bit simpler http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=305225)
Once you CID unlock you should be able to use the RUUs to flash.
Make sure everytime you do any of the steps that dr. putt gives to be comepletely synced to activesync.
Also dont forget to load enablerapi.cab on your wizard.
Also you must use the unlock function before the cid unlock function in lokiwiz.
OH also the unlock will work after your ipl drops to 1.xx After you do the unlocks reflash button to drop the spl to 1.xx Then just flash up to a higher IPL/SPL as the Dr states.

Umm I believe the IPL/SPL of 3.08 means your phone is unlocked... so you really shouldnt need to use shell tool. Some correct me if I'm wrong

Just cause you have 3.08 does not mean you are unlocked..you could have upgraded a 2.xx ipl/spl without having downgraded and unlocked first.

right, i installed the latest german t-mobile rom and my device is still locked. the point i made is why the hell does somebody want to downgrade? It doesnt matter if u use the shelltool.

Perhaps they want it actually cid unlocked for resale value...or perhaps they prefer the RUU method of installs vs having to use shelltool.

Cannot upgrade to any WM6

Hi guys.
I have this iMate Kjam (Not mine). It was with a T Mobile Official ROM and has IPL/SPL at v2.26. I checked and there was no G4 sign anywhere. Someone had to remove the CID thing to this. I downloaded several WM6 ROMs but once the complete flashing and the device reboots, I'm still in the T-Mobile ROM. I down-flashed to the age-old Button Love WM5 base ROM and here is the ROM status:
IPL: 1.01
SPL: 2.26
GSM: 1.12.10
OS: 1.5.4.2
If I upgrade from this point with, let's say, TNT5.0, here is what happens:
IPL: 1.01
SPL: 2.26
GSM: 1.12.10
OS: 1.5.4.2
Same right? but all the graphics change when booting. There is the HTC logo when device is turned on and there is the TNT 5.0 "BOOM" title when OS is loading (with the IPL/SPL/GSM/Radio)
Can someone tell me what is going on? HardSPL (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=332320) clearly tells me that device is NOT G4

Update:
I was able to install the official T-Mobile ROM onto Button Love ROM. Here is the screen statistics:
IPL: 2.26
SPL: 2.26
GSM: 02.25.11
OS: 2.26.10.2
If I try to upgrade to WM6 now, nothing will happen as I've already tried. After the flash process, it will still be official TMobile...
What should I do now? If I compare the properties of this Wizard with my own, I'm pretty sure this should be a G4 device.

Flash Buttons ROM again and do a CID unlock. That's it! Have fun!

I have a G3, but I had to flash Button twice so that the IPL/SPL matched, then I unlocked and reflashed 2.26 stock (again be sure that IPL/SPL match numbers), then from there I joined rom flashers anonymous!

Trying the Button Love ROM the third time... the SPL just won't drop... whats going on?

The only avaliable HardSPL tool doesn't recognize the device as G4... so how do I forced CID unlock? I tried SoftSPL... but at that time, my IPL and SPL were different...

IF you have
IPL 2.26 or 1.xx
SPL 2.26 or 2.XX
You have a G3 device - forget do not use Hard SPL or Soft SPL, these are ONLY FOR G4 DEVICES
Since you have a G3 Device you have 2 options
If you have IPL 1.xx and SPL 2.xx . use WST (Wizard Service Tools) to unlock your CID device

Actually, I followed what Pisca said about using WT and it worked... in Button Love, I finally CID unlocked and upgraded to Official TMobile. Then TNT5.0. All Well

Ok, if you are on IPL 1.xx and SPL 2.xx, you can use WST-Wizard Service Tool 4.2.2 to CID unlock
Then you should load a carrier ROm T-Mobile to get IPL/SPL 2.xx
But allways read as mentioned in the previous post
