UAE4DROID runs too fast on my Play - Xperia Play Themes and Apps

Games run too fast.
I tried changing the clock speed to 83% via menu, but then the sound becomes choppy.
Does anyone have a solution?

Does it not have a frame limiter option?
Sent from my R800i using Tapatalk

It does not have a frame limiter option, but it does have the following options -
Auto Frameskip - Enable/Disable
Frameskip - 1/2/3/4/5/6/7/8/9 <------ This is maybe the problem? There is no "0" option
Switch to NTCS mode - Enable/Disable
System Clock - 100%/83%/75% <----- Only 3 options here. I believe that a 90% option would probably fix the speed issue, but you are unable to set this. I tried 83% which slows games down quite nicely, but it's just a bit too slow and sound goes out of synch and choppy.
Synch Threshold - 100%/83%/75%/50% <---- Selecting any of these doesn't seem to make any difference.

Ok i got the speed running perfect. Maybe this will help some other people searching some time in the future.
It was the one option i didnt try - Cyclone M68k emulation needs to be enabled for correct emulation speed.
The one problem with this is that save and load states do not work with this mode.
Shame. It was nice to load to the title screen, save state and have no load times next time you ran the emulator.
Although the dev should be ashamed of himself for not including a fast load option

I'm not really ashamed , I spent some hours on save states with the cyclone core but never found the light

No you shouldn't be, I was just messing. Its a nice emulator.
Some things that could work better though -
1) Fast load!
2) Transparent keyboard.

Just wanted to say thanks for the emu and the thread.
I didn't know there was an Amiga 500 emu on droid until this thread!
Still got my original Amiga 500 with loads of disks, awesome machine at the time.
Ninja Rabbits and Dogs of War - here I come!
ps. there was a game where you played an Indian, does anyone remember what that was? There was canoeing bits in it and the shooting of a bear.

Manilla2D Speed Boost

I dunno if this is a ROM isolated thing, (I'm running NYG Pro) but I find that if I leave a video running in the background after selecting it under the "Photos and Videos" tab, regardless of the video duration, it'll give me a boost with anything 2D until I close Album. Manilla 2D and TaskFacade run a lot sexier now. The only thing that seems to kill it is Audio Manager. lol As soon as I run it, it goes back to normal and the only way to get that extra framerate is to restart Album with the same or another video and leave it running again.
Sorry if this had been posted before, but is there anyway we might be able to incorporate the, what seems to be, "2D driver" in startup like what taskfacade has to do? Just like a crippled version of Album for the speed? I don't know exactly what's giving it the boost here, but this seems pretty important if it's not isolated to the ROM I'm running.
I just tried this with my Kaiser and it works consistently on a Hyperdragon 3 ROM from November, so it seems to be fairly universal. I don't know how or why this works, but I'd sure like to see someone figure it out and find a way to have it work all the time.
Edit: I assume this has something to do with the video drivers that may or may not actually exist, and with the built-in video playback somehow turning on 2D acceleration, but I'm no programmer so I can't really go into detail. The more I play with this, though, the more excited I am to have smooth response in Manila and iContact and things of that sort, and the more I hope someone can find a way to build this into a ROM or make it a standalone program.
confirmed here too, now this is wierd
It's not so weird
During early days on UIQ, we also found the phone UI works a lot faster when there's a background Video running / being played .. seems to be the same factor.
Hi all,
actually, its nothing to do specifically with M2D ...
actually, been noticing that with everything ... say, PointUI Home 2 for example , .. leave your video on paused state, and try playing around the Home ... seems a marvel ...
but then, its been there since my UIQ3 days, on my P990i ... graphics performance boost up whilst leaving a video running ....
i hope this will trigger some wise minds in here ...
Yeah actually tried this trick with a Gameboy emulator. Works pretty well. Eliminates page tearing so that's pretty cool. Here's to hoping something gets done with this!
Will doing this kill the battery life?
It may affect it slightly since it is still running a program. As far as i can tell there isn't much of a change in the real world though.
From what I have read, attempted to understand, and barely grasp, this likely works because it opens up the 3D and 2D driver sets so that programs that don't have the "call" code built in but support 3D and 2D drivers are able to utilize them then.
Not 100%, but it seems like this is where the driver developement is stuck at in general, with finding out how to get all programs to use the drivers all the time even if the drivers are not native.
I have very limited knowledge of all of those, though, and half the driver stuff goes over my head, but what I have grasped is that they don't seem to have, to use an analogy, the "phone number" for the drivers, but some programs do and some do not type thing.

maybe we should just have pause a video and add it as an exlusive itme in the task mager and always have it running lol Im gonna try this
You should change the name of this thread to somthing taht will atract more attention liek "possible graphics driver fix!" cause honestly I think you discovered somthing very usefuil if someone made a cut down version of this app and just had a pause short medai clip in the backround this could be a step closer to our driver solution or mabe THE solution and honestly I think this is amazing, and I think if you changed the titl of this thread it would attract A LOT of more atention
Could it be the Q7200 having some sort of speed step running and playing a clip is bringing it up to its default max of 400 MHz...? Which would simply speed up everything but consume more battery...
If it really enables drivers to run, that would be simply amazing and some of the smart heads here should take a deeper look into it.
Very interesting find!
Maybe its also worth posting in more general forum? not in Kaiser Rom development?
maybe try to send a message to someone from the HTCclassaction team?
Hi, isn't this video player actually a separate app that is spawned from manila?
Any handy people out there who could make this happen with a .cab? (install small video player, make it autostart and run an included, very small, video, all while running invincibly/exlusively in the background?)

Doubt its the processor stepping up left this active all day no difference in battery consumption or little if any. This is a cool find hope it leads somewhere for 'cursed users'.

Seems to speed things up on this rom as well. Does seem more than a placebo effect.

[UTIL] PowerSet - Power saving settings replacement

Hi
After some time using orginal Toshiba power saving settings I've found it's terrible slow and upractical using fingers, so I've came with an idea to make simple fast and finger friendly app that will allow me to change basic settings like:
CPU Speed
Wi-Fi speed
Backlight while on battery power
If someone wants to make better graphics for eg. buttons or icon feel free to contribute in this thread and I will think about using them
Nice app ! Hope you'll get someone to make some graphics because I think you desserve it
Maybe you could ask LeSScro
But I'm not sure how much slower it will be with added graphics
I'm not a good programer... Now loking for a way to control cpu via DVS1: driver so I can disable autoscaling
The app seems to be very useful!
I'll install it on my TG01 after I flash a new Rom on it.
Thanks for that app!
Does limiting the CPU actually make the battery last any longeR? When I had it throttled down, I didn't notice a difference :S
"Now loking for a way to control cpu via DVS1: driver so I can disable autoscaling"
I don`t think `Snapdragon`CPU have the ability to auto scale like `Intel Xscale`CPU can. I used Asus P535 before and I don`t need to touch the CPU setting for high or low CPU frequency it does it automatically, for example if the CPU needs more power it will throttle up and if its idle it will throttle down the CPU automatically.
@BIG K in TG01 it looks like this if You'll set Low performance then cpu intensive apps work slower but battery drain is lower if you'll set it to high then cpu reaches max speed and get's higher battery drain it's good for apps that always uses 100% cpu
@elder T Snapdragon CPU does have autoscaling and can be overclocked (look at Snapdragon Android devices forum and at HTC Leo (HD2) fo HD2 there is app to disable autoscaling and overclock cpu but for some unknown reasons works on Acer F1 and LG Expo but doesnt work on TG01.

Everybody has reported their oc'ed phones overheating. I wouldn't try it even if the app worked in tg01. Many use it to downclock for better battery life in which case we have the toshiba tool. Or nico101's
can you make a version how our enable wlan and bloototh? and a way to change skin? greets alcatras
I think it's possible to add enabling bt and wlan but it's rather pointles cause most of today replacements etc have this function with a quick access and with skins problem is that I'm not a good in making better graphics but if someone wants to do them I can replace ugly buttons with graphical ones
I know about overheating and I know that toshiba have even overheating warning in drivers that can warn or shutdown the phone... But disabling autoscaling and controling cpu frequency can be more exact not only setting our cpu to High perf. so it will autoscale from low to high when needed but making it stay on high perf.
Comes there no update from your great app?
Thx!
'Dzięki'
Very useful application!
Due to lack of time I've stopped development to find a way to disable autoscaling
Anyway program works like it should and there are no reasonable propositions what should I try to add
I don't think this program works.
I set the CPU speed to low, but it is indeed still actually set to high. I use this program primarily for back light purposes now. Is there any other program out there that can actually set the CPU to low mode? Using the Toshiba program is soo slow!
Just adding some additional information. When I use the Toshiba power utility and I set the cpu at slow from being previously at high, then when I play a movie it is choppy. When I set my cpu to low in this utility, the movie is still smooth. This utility doesn't do anything cpu related. I tell ya, If someone can produce a good CPU power/backlight utility, that would be really benafictial. We really, really need that, the Toshiba utility is SOOOOOO slow.
-Kilihari.
Weird... Try to change settings in my tool then check if Toshiba settings shows the same... From what I've researched TG01 takes CPU mode from registry values and I"m using and changing the sam values
Yes, it is true.... but still ....
It is indeed true that if you change the cpu mode to low or that it will show up that way in the Toshiba power management utility, however, it definitely does not change the actual CPU speed. Man, I really wish this utility worked, we so need a utility like this for the TG01, something that is finger friendly and fast.
I will look into powersave.exe again but first I need to finish polish version of WM6.5.5
Parameters to run as a script
Hello Nico,
thanks for this helpful and battery life time saving application. I am running it without any problem on my Toshiba TG01 for a weeks.
I have a question if there are (or you plan to add) parameters for starting up this application? I would like to set night script to set Low CPU automatically every night, how to achieve this?
Hi i have just tried this app and i gotta say it is amazing!! I use it as a Spb shortcut and i use it frequently to save battery! . Its fantastic and fast. I throttle down the power when i am not using the phone for intense apps (standby, music) than when i am browsing i use full speed. With this method, i have saved alot of battery.! thanks veey much!
Unfortunaetly i am sad to say i have the same problem as kilihari. The app doesnt seem to work. It works after a reboot, or after i change the settings, i have to open up the toshiba settings app, close it then the changes take place. I used benchmark test to test it and i also notice a lag in spb. Its a shame as i highly anticipated this app for fasy access to toggling swithces.
i hope nico could provide us with a update, but unfortunately he has moved on to android.
Anyone want to take the job up?

Shadowgun

I can confirm that Shadowgun works with Chainfire on the Xperia Play, gamepad also works! Unfortunately, the only functional buttons are the d-pad and the square and cross buttons, so you'll have to use the touchscreen to look around and switch weapons.
how smooth is it?
interesting, i used the CF patch, and the game says: "Not supported device [Exit]"
for me it crashes....
it will only go through the opening movie then crashes, what settings are you using so the rest of us can enjoy some shadowgun goodness
Same here, opening movie then crash.

Saw this on another website for the game.
"Non tegra users use this method works for me
enable NVIDIA OpenGL driver then "Disable MAp Buffer emu" and "Enabled Reduce texture size" ! on chainfire3D"
I do not have the game or chainfire so I cannot say if this really works. Just thought I would share what I found in hopes that it will work, becuase if it does I will seriously sign up for it.

Robot Chicken... awesome show
played around with it some more and the settings i used were unroll textures, reduce texture size , and disable mapbuffer emu. It got the game going but once two baddies showed up I got one of them and as i was turning toward the other one it froze up and had to do a battery pull, so going back in and see what happens. and thanks always a go to quote for me.
*update* went back in and resumed game and nothing so we still need some help
Same problem here with HTC Incredible S
Guys the devs of shadowgun said there will be a non tegra version out in a couple of days.

got this problem with my play too and some of my devices too. (desire S,arc, sgs and Nexus S)
from what i read from the other forums, once you killed the baddies you must not see their corpse slowly disappearing on your sight, or else you gotta do a battery pull.

Deathsmiles out now - Not XPO optimized

I hate to bring up games that aren't Xperia Play optimized but what I'm wondering is: is it possible to set up the controls with gamekeyboard? I've never been too good with GKB and have not been able to figure out how to configure a profile with a game that allows a full range of touch movement. None of the Cave games are optimized but Deathsmiles seemed like a logical choice being a hori. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Oh, and for anyone wondering the lite version had no slowdown on my device so much like Resurrection the game should run just fine even with more bullets thrown at you in later levels.
The lite version of DDP Resurecction ran fine on my XP. To be honest, I ain't even mad this game isn't XPO because it controls like a dream! Just get it seriously, if you remotely like shmups you can't go wrong with Cave. Also, dat soundtrack:

Is Bug Panic any good? I'm honestly not that in to Deathsmiles so without optimization I'd say it's far out of my price range.

Plays well, but has on screen controls, with the movement one being adjustable.
You can leave it as stuck(original), smart(you touch the screen somewhere, they will appear), or autocorrect,, which I dunno, lets you move with depending on where you touch.
G-Gee / Cave won't optimise Deathsmiles, I just can't see it.
Besides the onscreen controls work like a pad anyway, so movement etc is fine.
Deathsmiles is a great game. There is a demo version for free: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ggee.vividruntime.gg_1652
Mushihimesama has a free demo too: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ggee.vividruntime.gg_1650

Doom 3 runs great on our phone :)

There's plenty of info on Doom 3 here on XDA but I just wanted to let you all know that it runs very well on our device.
I've just finished playing the whole way through using a Moga Pro, with graphics set to 'ultra' using the in-game menu, plus a few tweaks in the config file. A lot of the time the frame rate sits at 60, and on a few occasions slows down into the 40s. I'm guessing it gets lower than that at times as there is a little stuttering here and there but it's over very quickly and then recovers to maximum again.
I'm using the game data from an installation on my PC that I made using a CD ROM purchased for £5 years ago from the 'sold out' range of PC titles, but you can still download it from Steam I believe.
You need to have the game patched to version 1.3.1 on your PC before copying the 'base' folder over to your device. Place it inside a folder called 'diii4a' in internal storage, then download the free Diii4a app from the Play Store.
See below for screenshots showing what options I have checked/unchecked in the launcher app. I'll attach a couple of in-game screenshots and also my config file that sits in the base folder.
There are a few glitches in the game. In some places glass textures do not load. In some areas the teleportation lighting effects look blocky. I didn't bother trying any further tweaks as it didn't spoil the experience.
If you get choppy or distorted sound, just come out of the game and launch the diii4a app again.
Finally, note that in the diii4a launcher app you can configure the on screen controls in the game. You need to find somewhere to put the keyboard icon if you want to have access to the console in game. You can also adjust the opacity of the on screen controls so that they don't get in the way.
Oops, config file....
Also, there's a glitch where the ammo counter doesn't show on the mini-gun.

Well, the app is free so you just need the game data. If you don't have a Steam account, you could buy a PC CD ROM of the game from eBay or somewhere like that. There will secondhand ones kicking around....
Edit. There are loads on eBay UK for under £4. Not sure where you are, but there will be some about if you want to keep things legit.
Please assist on Oneplus 5
hi guys!
Can you please help me? I'm trying to make it run on my OP5.
The diii4a launches and all that, but when I touch on New Game, I get stuck on the loading screen foreer.
the bar fills up, but nothing else happens... the screen just freezes.
I'm currently on Android Pie using Open Beta 35, non rooted device.
