the Dual Core Phone is coming in less than 1 month. if anything it sounds like LG wants to kill the nexus S before it gets a chance.
Today you have the option to buy Nexus S. or Pre order the Dual Core phone with Tegra 2 GPU for max gaming perforamnce along with better camera and an SD card option and 1080p video recording capability
downside its 2.2 and unless it gets rooted early, 2.3 will take a while to be out.
seriously . i didnt know that they would release it so soon.
I do not particularly like LG at all, so I'll pass until someone else looses a dual-core into the wild.
No thanks. I'll be sticking with the nexus until the end of next year when a Dual-Core N3 is announced.
I like my updates a lot, tyvm

normally i would agree with you. if you give me an LG phone for free. i wouldnt take it. its LG. but god damn i am really thinking of this one. the specs is out of this world
Tegra 2 is 'that' much powerful than Hummingbird ?
LG branded things for me is last resort after Thompson xD

Yeah, I agree the phone SEEMS like it's going to be absolutely amazing, and it very well may be. But I don't want to wait for updates and/or devs to get the latest and greatest software.
And as someone else said, I'll wait for the Nexus 3 or whatever it will be called.

Yes its much more powerful. its from Nvidia after all
and i agree i hate the LG branding too.
No question the Tegra 2 device is the lastest and greatest based on dual chip solely. Its a monument release despite launching with 2.2. I'm not a gamer so that aspect doesn't interest me at all. I always keep two devices (1)cdma (2)gsm, for geek reasons. I really want to get both devices in my hand, then make a decision. We all know it will be the Tegra 2 device.

Nah i hoped for 30-40% more power ... there is no need to take this over future Orion based phones.
http://news.softpedia.com/newsImage...he-Test-Deemed-Faster-Than-Hummingbird-4.png/
BTW. I lost hopes in NV after huge fail in dedicated PS3 GPU.
I'm not a massive fan of LG phones, even if the specs are good. Bearing in mind I've still not decided on an NS yet. I think it's a good step though, as someone has to push the dual core tech forward. When Samsung (which I have nothing against) or HTC start pushing the tech in their own form, whether it's Tegra, Orion or something from Qualcomm, I'll be more excited

Somebody know what is top LG android phone right now available in market ?
Only time will tell whether the Opt 2X is worth it. Which is why I say this is a brink in mobile technology -- the standard is changing. Nexus S represents generally the best of an era that is ending (era of single core, 3G, etc). It might be worth waiting to some. No one can tell (meaning, not people who praise dual-core, or people who try to say dual-core is useless/wouldn't get first dual-core, etc.) for now.
As for the direct/clean Google updates, there are ways to work around that with other phones (flashing ROMs, etc.). If the Opt 2X succeeds, you can be sure the dev. community will be supporting the device with those sorts of specs.
But again, time will tell. I want to get (and like) the Nexus S as much as the next guy, but I'm waiting a bit. If the rumors are true, and that dual-cores will come early 2011, the wait is not far off. Also, the slew of issues the Nexus S seems to be having (a quick glance at the threads here will show tons of concerns) is serving as a huge deterrent. I actually like Samsung products, but it's becoming clearer and clearer that Google/Sammy rushed the Nexus S out.
Can you name 1 game, no strike that, 1 APP that doesn't run flawlessly on the Nexus S already? Honestly, having a more powerful processor is not the answer, the software is what needs work and it has been that way for over a year.
Software has been lacking while hardware keeps improving, which is why we're still stuck in 2006 when it comes to game development.

people said the same thing when Nexus 1 was out then Galaxy S was released. they all run the same things. it just it runs better on Galaxy S.
and i assume the same thing will happen for future games for example.
its not just the aps. the thing has HDMI out to play video and games on ur TV. it plays videos at 1080P. it RECORD videos at 1080 and a better GPU . its just all rounder a better specs phone. and its less than 1 month away.
I'm just waiting for a phone that has a 4.3" screen that is smaller than the size of the Nexus S. Phones have way too much useless glass/plastic around the screen that serve no purpose. Performance I could care less, they all work fine for me. Hell, I thought the HTC Aria was pretty snappy when I had it.
Can you provide a link that proves it has a SAMOLED screen?

if 2x Optimus had a screen of 4.3 or 4.5 samold, and would be perfect grrr
@ll_l_x_l_ll
Forgive me for being offtopic for a moment, but I must ask, why are you here on these forums? Most of the posts I see from you are "LOL NEXUS S SUX!!!1!!11!" so I have to ask. Are you trying to convince people that they made a bad purchase and whatever phone you're currently using is better? Not trying to start a flamewar, merely curious about your intentions.
As far as your question regarding LG Optimus 2X, my answer is no. It runs what looks like a TouchWiz derivative and I detest TouchWiz. Its not that I hate all layovers, it's that I hate ugly/cartoony layovers. I don't mind SenseUI at all and actually wish that Google would incorporate some of their widgets into stock Android. And, personally, I don't understand the complaint about the lack of a microsd card on the Nexus S. Is 16gbs not enough? It is for me. Then again, I'm a guy who's had the same computer for the last two years and just barely made it halfway through the 500gb hard drive.
Dual-core processors are definitely the future, but nothing out there right now is optimized to take advantage of it and it will be some time before they do. Would today's apps run better? Probably. Would they run better to justify purchasing another phone? Not for me, yet. Also the 1080p video recording is neat, but I can count on one hand the number of times I've used the camcorder feature. Further, who the heck is gonna play phone games on their TVs? lol I can't imagine trying to play Angry Birds on a 42" screen.
On the topic of the screen, a quick googling of the specs seems to pull up it's just a TFT normal LCD screen like the MT4G, EVO, or Droid series. There was a picture LG sent to Phandroid showing their screen to be better than SAMOLED/Retina, but it was a photoshopped image made to generate buzz.
no not going to buy, because there is currently is no real world advantage to have a Dual Core phone. Hell most people dont even have dual core PCs
I have around $250 to spend on a used phone. Please don't suggest any upcoming phones or that I should wait, only what's listed in the poll. I'm looking for something that wont be too ancient by next year, software and hardware wise. Basically an all around best phone . Software upgrading is pretty important as well as hardware. If there is something not up there, that you feel needs to be suggested, for my price range please tell me Thanks in advance!
LG Optimus. IMHO the best value/power phone on the market now. Hero has small display resolution!
Xperia X10 is the only one with a 1GHz Snapdragon, which in my experience, should be an Android minimum system requirement!
528MHz devices like the Hero are waaaay toooo sloooow, and I've read the 600MHz devices using MSM7227 aren't a whole lot faster.
I'd get the X10, I think anything else would be quite disappointing.
yeah, if you can take one of those device, i reccomend the xperia x10

Just so you know, not inviting comparisons or a flame war. The more Tegra phones shipped, the more development.

Agreed more Tegra phones the better, looks alright not quite as pretty as the G2X though
The only thing the Samsung has for it is the SuperAmoledPlus screen. Without that, I wouldn't go near Samsung and their crappy phones. (SGS2 seems to be pretty sweet though hardware wise).
[Edit]
Not saying I'm not happy about the Tegra Phones. All phones should have Tegra Processors. I really hope Tegra becomes the mainstream GPU to use so it makes development for Android easier. Coding a single app for 400 phones is stupid. We need standards....
I'm just saying I love the G2x and the above doesn't interest me.

Yup, only thing that makes SGS2 stands out of the screen, which I have to say is ****ing gorgeous.
I agree. It would be awesome if Tegra became the Android standard. That way we would have to worry about compatibility issues. That being said. There are a lot of other things the Samsung has going for it besides there Super AMOLED displays. The GSII arguably has the best camera out of any mobile device and it definitely performs in low light situations better than anything else. Miriam from Engadget even posted low light photos to her Twitter account because she was so ammazed how good they looked. Samsung is also moving in the right direction with Touch Wiz whether any die hard vanilla Android peeps want to admit it. Every version is getting less and less intrusive while adding very nice features to the Android OS. HTC on the other hand is going in the wrong direction with Sense. They are making it more and more intrusive with resource hogging eye candy that serves no purpose. Lastly Samsung is playing nicely with the DEV community by unlocking its bootloaders and giving phones to devolopers so they can do there thing. Samsung is no longer the same company it was back in the Behold II days. They are now at the top of the list when it comes to making nice looking devices with the power to back it up.

So, I use wp7 right now. It's hands down my favorite OS. However, I want another OS to play around on more. I don't want an iPhone as they bore me, my options are android or meego. Here's my thoughts on each and the devices I'd get.
Droid Razr: Nice hardware, infinite marketplace, I've heard the sound is good. The cons are that the gpu acceleration is still... So-so... There's little chance of updates, I don't think much of the camera, and it will be outdated as quick as it was released. Unfortunately, this is the only android hardware I find considerable.
Nokia N9: Unparalleled hardware, great sound, outstanding camera, extremely well built OS, able to run most android apps. Cons are there's pretty much no chance of a further update (though the OS feels very complete.) the app store is limited, and there's not much in terms of games.
So, your thoughts on the matter? Price is also a concern I suppose. The n9 is much cheaper.
OP I'm sorry, not trying to be a ****, just kind of confused as to why this is posted in the epic 4g touch forums.

If you're interested in android, wait for a phone that has better spec than the Galaxy Nexus and is running ICS. ICS is what makes the experience. It's a whole new look and feel than the previous installment, and in my opinion, runs a lot faster and smoother.
If you really want android after talking all that trash on it back in the gingerbread and froyo days, then you sir are insane. Unless you just WANT to start a flame thread.

Agreed; you should just get a Symbian.
sent from my Zerg Hatchery.
Why would I get Symbian when lag and instability are some of my biggest issues. Android has a lot of issues, whether or not you'll acknowledge them is up to you. Windows Phone has just as many issues, if not more. Windows Phone's issues just effect me less because of how I use my device.
KayxGee, thank you. A big concern for me is what the hardware looks like and feels like. Samsung is undoubtedly making the best overall android devices right now, but I haven't seen much android hardware that I like the look of. The Note isn't too terrible.
What are you looking for in screen size, camera, etc? What carrier?
You should definitely try out the N9. The camera is amazing and the OS is definitely different and will be fun to try out

The Razr has a better battery life than the Samsung galaxy s II. I dunno what your talking about loool. I have the galaxy s II but when I got the Razr you could instantly tell the Razr had better battery life.
I'm selling my galaxy s II cause I simply prefer the Razr n with that money I will get my self the LG 4x
OMG. Counter Strike On Android! http://cs-portable.net/
I wouldn't buy another GS2, that thing is hideous. I sold my first one and was happy in doing so. I don't care about screen size or processor power, WP7 has shown me that that stuff is primarily a gimmick and is largely unnecessary. I want a device that's aesthetically pleasing and sturdy. As long as it's powerful enough to emulate an SNES my gaming concerns are non-existent. It just seems most android manufacturers are concerned strictly with screen size and processor power rather than the overall quality of the device.
You guys really should stop feeding this thing.

I Need Help Deciding between the Samsung Note (i717) and the Galaxy S3.
I have been looking on the web for info on both phones and I have read a lot of things concerning both of them. I have read what people (and reviewers) think of each.
Pros of each phone...
Note
Large screen
S-pen
Screen resolution
I currently have the SGS with the 1GHz CPU and I find the phone pretty fast. Considering I do not play graphic intensive games, I think the Dual core 1.5 on the (Canadian) Note would be plenty fast for my needs.
I have big hands and the Note fits perfectly in there (I tried it in Store). I also need glasses for reading, so the big screen helps as well.
I love the idea of writing notes instead of typing them.
S3
Newest technology
New features (S-voice, Smart Stay, Direct Call, etc)
ICS (Note will get ICS also)
Do I really need a quad core CPU? Am I going to use the extra features that the S3 has? A lot of the new features a phone comes with I find are gimmicks, will I use them?
I like the Note, but I also love the newest and greatest technology available.
On the other hand, the Note 2 is rumored to be coming out in October, should I wait?
AArrrgggh, what to do, what to do???
Ian
I purchased the SIII. It's a wonderful phone and the specs are better then the Note. It's a choice of preference though!
If you want to go for the good specs, take the SIII. Benchmark scores are much higher also!
Greets
Seems like u Want the note really.
Gs3 is very nice but with tech advancing so fast by next yr something else would be better
I'd say note fits for you, note is a pretty powerful beast if u r comfortable with its dimension... and it seems u do

Yeah, I guess I do want the Note, but I also want to newer technology.
I know the S3 is faster than the note, but that's thanks to the quad core CPU and the 2MB of ram.
