charges slow - T-Mobile Sidekick 4G

Is it just me or has anyone else noticed that the sidekick 4g charges as slow as the nexus s?
Looks like I'm gonna have to go to radio shack n buy me a new charger

Yeah its slower than molasses. Its because of the charging cable. From what I've heard, Samsung thinks a slow steady charge is better for overall battery life. Its annoying, but whatever. I have a car charger as well.

Same thing here, but battery life is pretty good atleast

iPhone charger works so much faster

Like it more than halved the time the insufficient HTC wall charger took to charge the phone.
FYI
Oh that's cool. Can't flash ROMs on the iPhone, iPhone battery doesn't last that long, no control over processor speed, need I go on? They're two different phones for different people. No comparisons needed.

Thats good to know, i wonder if it will mess anything up. Only reason its especially worrysome is because we can't replace the battery on this device...
the hox charger is a 1amp charger and aren't the new newer iPhone Chargers 2amp?
That's why it would charge faster I believe.

Not sure, but i also have an iPhone, maybe ill try that charger out and see if it really charges faster. I know that the iphone charges ridiculously fast, i guess its because of the charger being 2amp.
The phone dictates the rate at which it charges.
then the charger wouldn't make a difference?

Yes, it does. The stock HTC one seems to only provide .6A. The iPhone one is 2A.

The phone will have the ability to LIMIT the rate it charges but that doesn't mean it can't be better or worse based on how much power you give it. Good to know about the iPhone charger, I have a bunch of those laying around.
Same with the hp touchpad charger. It charges my phone an atleast 30-45 mins faster than the HTC one going from under 10% to full.

Another xda noob
It also depends on the kernel, you could have a script in the kernel to fast_charge
From my powered Shooter.
I use my iPad charger to charge when I need a faster charge. It's also 2A versus the 1A on the old iPhone.
I also have a dual car charger in my car that has an iPad usb port and everything else USB port
I remember hearing somewhere that the hox is limited to 650a anyway

Given that the battery is non-replaceable, I'm inclined to be patient and not risk messing it up, no matter how slow that charger is.
I just tested the tp charger, charged almost an hour faster
PS. using aokp

Is it just me

Charging wise this is the fastest charging smartphone I've ever owned. And I'm a phone whore. From hero, instinct 1/2, evo, evo3d, hd2, note, and a few others. Anyone else notice

It seems to charge pretty fast from the A/C charger but plugging it in to your Pc seems to take FOREVER.
Mine takes forever charging no matter what. Ive put it on the charger at 50% and it took 3hours ish to get back to 100%. Granted my phone could probably go two days with four hours of on screen time too.
Granted I can't speak for stock because I rooted asap. I mainly use AC 95% too. Not sure if how much root affects it, I'm on synergy (awesome btw).
From the I-killer
mathematically yes. My old droid x charged at a max 750ish mA. The S3 charges at 1000mA
It is just you...
In my case at least.

Charging on AC is really fast for me too. Car charging and PC charging not so much.
GNEX was my fastest charging smartphone...but also had the worst battery life.

I am betting it's because most of us have 1amp or 2.1 amp chargers available in the car. I, personally, still use the motorola 950mAh car charger, which speeds thru the charging process too.
USB still pumps out 500 mAh at best, always gonna be slow.
None of this has to do with the phone, btw.
Slow charging for me. But its random. Sometimes its decently quick but other times it takes forever to charge. Fastest phone to charge for me was the OG droid.

I've noticed that when its plugged into the wall charger, its super fast, computer though is utterly slow.
Its really fast, about an hour and I'm at 100% from 0%.

About same here, on wall

There is a thing in the charging port that only the samsung charger activated that allows charing upwards of 1000 when using normal micro usb only does 300.
If you download imosyens leankernal he developed it into the kernal that you go to terminal editor and put "ffc"and charger will go as fast as thr samsung one.

Lol I'm the opposite. Coming from a Galaxy Nexus this phone charges much slower. Galaxy Nexus would be fully charged in maybe an hour and a half. With the GS3 it's closer to 3 hours for a full charge. Hear it's the low-power brick that comes with it though.

Yep. For example, the Motorola SPN5400A will charge the S3 in about 1\2 to 1\3 the time it would take if plugged into a USB port. I honestly believe it's because it has quality internal circuitry. Hell, at .95 mAh it charges quicker than most 2.1mAh chargers. Again, has nothing to do with the phones, it's the chargers that come with.
mine charges pretty quick as well. best phone ive had hands down.

3 hrs seems off. I think I could wire mine to my electric razor and charge it faster
From the I-killer
Just for info, my wireless energizer pad and Verizon wireless door charge faster than the factory charger. And my factory charger will charge between 1.5 and 2 hours from 3% or 4%.
If you are taking over 2 hours I would check the battery and make sure it isn't swollen or something wrong with it. As far as usb most ports are "as stated above" not going to supply juice fast enough to charge quickly.
And it's probably worth seeing if something is on thats sucking power, Bluetooth, gps, facebook, anything that sync's alot. And using almost as much power as the usb is putting out.

[Q] Portable Battery Charger

Alright, so I got the Nexus 5 a few days ago, but have been too afraid to open it because of one reason.
Battery Life.
So I was wondering if there was a not too expensive portable battery charger that was not only reliable, but also could be used in my pocket, so that when I'm out and about it can be charging?
I don't actually know if that's a thing, but it would be quite nice, and I wouldn't have to get rid of my Nexus that I've always dreamed of and instead go to a Note 3.
Anker batteries

I am waiting a few days in order to see how its battery handles my day, and if it doesn't i'll go for an Anker Astro Mini (3000mAh about 20€/$ very small) or Anker Astro Slim(6000mAh about 30€/40$, usb cable incorporated but bigger than mini of course)
Every Anker product seems to be good, so I personnaly would go for one of them and recommand them to you.
Slim3 http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00CEZJT2E/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?qid=1384194495&sr=8-1&pi=SY200
Mini : http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B005NF5NTK/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?qid=1384194367&sr=8-1&pi=SY200
Or you have the more massive ones for about 40-60€ and 10000-15000mAh ^^
Also, the 2600mAh small cube battery by powerbank for less than 10€ but reviews are a bit worse (4.0/5.0, still no major issues so)
Here's the link : http://www.amazon.fr/gp/aw/d/B00DECT51G/ref=pd_aw_sbs_2?pi=SS115
Hope I helped you.
I do have a quick question about the mini.
Will I be able to use it in my pocket, or will it get hot or overheat?
They all work great. I have an Ankhar 8000mAH one with 2 USB outs and its very handy. You can charge it using the same lead rather than carry another wire, which is why I chose it. Works fine in your pocket.

Charging Temperature

What temp does your guys phone charge at? I recently got a new cable and i was charging at around 37C-38C the phone felt pretty warm at that point too, and the estimated charge time was practically cut in half from when I used my old charger. I wanna say my old charging temp was maybe 34C.
I know hotter is worse, and the slower the charge is better, but how much worse would it be at that little temp difference?
That's like 104 f . Not too hot. Streaming Netflix outside I got it above 110 and it's fine. It has a shutoff function if it gets too hot. No worries.

I can't really comment on the HTC charger since I've never used it but I use an old Samsung 500mah charger and it charges around 25-28c

Anyone try using a HTC charger for a Faster charge..

Hey people, I just try my oem HTC m8 charger on my t-mobile Sony z3 via magnetic charging port and I swear it charging my phone at least double or three the rate then if I use the Sony oem it came with..
I also left it on stamina mode while charging the port..
Has anyone else try this?
Sent from my D6616 using XDA Free mobile app
Isn't the charger on the M8 1.5amps? The same as the charger on the Z3.
I have both, so I suppose I could use the M8 charger tonight and see...
You are probably right on the spec but I just don't know if it's a placebo effect but I figured I ask.. Also if I am right this would make this Phone so much sweeter than it already is..
I know it's supposed to charger faster by using the magnetic port but it seems faster using my HTC m8 charger instead of my Sony oem..
I figured I share see what you guys said

Please let us know how this goes, if it is true, I will probably end up ordering the M8 charger tonight.
i got a 2.1amp samsung tab 8.4 charger with original cable, and it seems the speed of Charging goes faster than stock charger, however i woke up twice wont my battery stuck at 99% charge and it never went to 100 so stopped using it
I've got an Anker dual port charger that has a 2.0amp and 1.5 amp ports on it that I use at work.
Although, the only time I ever charge my phone is at night... And considering charging a battery slower is generally better, I wouldn't be switching to a faster charger for my uses.
Unless I was in a hurry and *needed* the extra 15% a 'quick' charger would give me.

Samsung tablet chargers are interesting. They will actually increase voltage slightly as current draw increases to compensate for cable losses.
End result is Samsung tablet chargers often charge faster than others, sometimes significantly faster.
