Anyone try using a HTC charger for a Faster charge.. - Xperia Z3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey people, I just try my oem HTC m8 charger on my t-mobile Sony z3 via magnetic charging port and I swear it charging my phone at least double or three the rate then if I use the Sony oem it came with..
I also left it on stamina mode while charging the port..
Has anyone else try this?

Isn't the charger on the M8 1.5amps? The same as the charger on the Z3.
I have both, so I suppose I could use the M8 charger tonight and see...

You are probably right on the spec but I just don't know if it's a placebo effect but I figured I ask.. Also if I am right this would make this Phone so much sweeter than it already is..
I know it's supposed to charger faster by using the magnetic port but it seems faster using my HTC m8 charger instead of my Sony oem..
I figured I share see what you guys said

Please let us know how this goes, if it is true, I will probably end up ordering the M8 charger tonight.

i got a 2.1amp samsung tab 8.4 charger with original cable, and it seems the speed of Charging goes faster than stock charger, however i woke up twice wont my battery stuck at 99% charge and it never went to 100 so stopped using it

I've got an Anker dual port charger that has a 2.0amp and 1.5 amp ports on it that I use at work.
Although, the only time I ever charge my phone is at night... And considering charging a battery slower is generally better, I wouldn't be switching to a faster charger for my uses.
Unless I was in a hurry and *needed* the extra 15% a 'quick' charger would give me.

Samsung tablet chargers are interesting. They will actually increase voltage slightly as current draw increases to compensate for cable losses.
End result is Samsung tablet chargers often charge faster than others, sometimes significantly faster.

[Q] new to nexus !

does the phone really charge so slow??
There's already a few threads discussing the slow charge time. Seems to be an issue for many. All Galaxy S phones seem to take a lot longer to charge than say an iPhone.
My Nexus S always makes it through a good 16+ hour day without needing a charge, and I always charge overnight while sleeping, so I haven't personally noticed this as an issue.
Like any smartphone these days, it's probably a good idea to just partial charge during the day when you're in a situation (like the car, or at your computer desk) that lets you. It's not necessary to do the full drain, full recharge only with the current battery technology.
Its odd, mine and my wife's phones take maybe 3 hours to get to full from sub30% yet that seems to be the outlier.

Are you charging it on the supplied wall charger or through a computer's USB port? It charges significantly slower through a USB port than from the wall charger

Wall charger charges a bit faster than USB since its rated at 700 mA rather than 500 mA. Best bet would be to go with a car charger that charges at 1000+ mA.
i used wall charger..
Hi guys i have a wall charger from my nokia n97 mini which is 1200mA. Can i use it or i will destroy the battery?

If the voltage is correct, the amperage should not be an issue...the phone should only draw the current it actually wants/needs.
But bear in mind, if your phone blows up, it's not my fault, I have no experience with that charger or it's actual ratings.

Car Charger and Wall Charger

As far as i can tell i have not had an shutdowns or lockups etc.. while using the LG charger that came with the G2x. I had been using the one that came with my Nexus One and it seems that almost every time i have used it, i would get a shut down or a reboot or black screen of death etc... usually at a full charge. ie i would wake up in the morning to a unresponsive phone.
Has anyone bought an extra wall charger or a Car charger that did not cause any issues? If so where? Did anyone buy the ones ("They call it a Universal charger" ) directly from TMobile? Since technically in the manual LG says to use their own charger..but i thought all manufacturers say that.
I am wondering if the one that came with the Nexus One has the built in circuitry for not letting it get to much voltage or whatever they are supposed to block. I have seen some online that say they have something built into the charger...which not having it may be the issue.
I thought the phone does ..switches to trickle charge when almost full. At least my Nexus did... but i get lock ups sometimes no where near full... with the G2x. And i get it every so often with my Car charger too.
Thanks
I've been using the ones from my HD2 no problem yet.. :knocks on wood:

Before you go out and buy a generic charger from Ebay, make sure you check out the miliamps on the chargers. The G2X AC charger is 1000 mA which is pretty high. My previous Samsung phone was 700mA which was less. If you buy anything that has a low mA rating it will take longer to charge. I bought a cheap generic charger from Ebay before and it was rated at 300mA!!! That's barely enough to keep the battery level the same while you use your phone or have it on. Don't use your USB plug from your computer because the mA is very low and you will run down your battery having your phone on. A good 2nd home charger is the Blackberry AC charger. They are under $5 from Amazon and they are 700mA.

For the car buy this Motorolla charger. 950mA! and about $6

Thanks for the input everyone. I will look into grenademastas suggestions.
Just an FYI... still
...as far as I know, i have not had a "self reboot" (well no lockups for sure... self reboot you have to look for i guess...) since i began using the charger that came with the G2x as my primary charger, for overnight charging.
I also started rebooting my phone once a day when i take it off the LG charger.
And also since i did this, I have not woke up to a "unresponsive" phone where i had to do a battery pull. I was using my Nexus Ones charger as the primary charger.
And i had switched from Launcher Pro to Zeam. So i will try going back to Launcher pro for a few days and see what happens. As i thought original it was Launcher pro causing reboots and lockups. Zeam is pretty fas so if no lock ups , i am not sure what i will stick with.
Thanks for the link, I ordered one for each car. Ive seen a few Micro USB chargers locally for $10-$15 but they never list the ma on the package.
My current charger can only keep up with the N1 when not running GPS. it barely keeps the G2X steady

Trust story. I found a micro usb charger in my closet and started using it the same day I got my phone because the cored was longer. It was taking FOREVER to charge and when it was at 100% if i started using it while plugged in it would still drain to like 97%. I was like wtf everyone said this phone charges faster than others. Then I checked the specs of the charger and realized it was the charger for one of my old bluetooth headsets and the output was only 150mah .

[Q] Need some advice on a charger for my Galaxy SIII

I was using the stock 700mA charger that came with the SGSIII and immediately switched to the 850ma charger as the stock one wasn't giving it enough power to do anything even while charging. Well I just found my 1amp micro usb charger earlier today and have started using that because the 850 wasn't doing the job either with Pandora running while im doing stuff around the house. The S3 charges fine when I'm not messing with it at all but even the 1amp charger isn't keeping this beast completely charged when I'm watching youtube or something like that. Are there any 1.5 to 2amp chargers out there that will keep it from dying so fast even while using it? Thank you for any input you guys can give me . Oh and by the way I don't have power saving mode on as I can't stand the slowness of my phone and the display on max. When its charging I expect the charger to do its job and thats why I'm asking if a 1.5 or 2amp charger would do better. Thanks everyone.

The S3 limits the input to a little less than 1 AMP, so anything faster is useless.

That's strange because I use my 2amp car charger and it never loses power even when screen brightness is all the way up and navigation is going. Then I switched to my old 700mA charger and it drains really fast. So I'm pretty much confused now hahaha.

Z3 charging

Are there any people here using a different charger in order to charge the Z3 a little quicker? As it is, it takes forever to fully charge the battery, especially during the last 5%. I want to try the turbo charger from Motorola but I'm concerned of ruining my battery.

The stock charger is pretty fast for me already. What is ur charger's amperage?

I use the 2.0A charger that came with my Tab S. It charges reasonably fast. However, if you use the magnetic charging cable, it'll charge the phone faster.
I bought the motorola quick charger. I definitely don't plan on using it all the time. It'll be a travel charger where I might need to add some charge in a pinch.
There's a thread documentind the rate at which different charging methods charge at. I put my Turbo Charger results at the bottom.

charging using regular charger

Just wondering if charging the phone using regular charger instead of using the fast charger that the phone ones with will mess up the battery?
For example when in my car, Can I use the car charger to charge the phone?
not really, but for sure will a bit slower than the fast charger(actually not a big big different, becoz I'm using the charger from my previous Note 7), and for the fast charger need to go together with the original cable which can go to 5A, now mostly we can buy is support 3A max only.
I've got a normal charger from an old Asus tablet next to my bed I don't see the point in fast charging it overnight I have an idea in the back of my head that it might last a bit longer if I'm not charging it at supercharged speeds every night. In fact I plan to only use the supercharger as a top up only when I need it and in a more convenient place than next to my bed. I've tried 3 different charges now I know I'll charge no problems, albeit much slower
