Hi,
I have the wifi-only XOOM (nonrooted) and a rooted HTC EVO. I can pair and connect each device with another blue-tooth device, so I know that both have blue-tooth working.
I can't get the Xoom and EVO to connect via blue-tooth. It says "paired but not connected" and when I try to click on it to connect it, nothing will happen (on other items it will search...then connect). The only options available to me are rename device and unpair.
I've rebooted, nothing works. I've tried the instructions for tethering, and just trying to get the blue-tooth connection to work.
1. Has anyone successfully paired the wifi only xoom with the evo?
2. Any ideas or suggestions for me?
Thanks. This is really frustrating because the tethering is the reason I bought the wifi only xoom.
Edit: I thought I typed this, but it is not showing. Somewhere on XDA are the instructions for wireless tethering, (sorry don't have link handy) and I have followed them. Doesn't work.
I rooted my EVO with CM7 and the Hotspot software came pre-installed. I just tether to my xoom with that, no problems. It's pretty fast on 3G.

My EVO has Myn’s Warm TwoPointTwo - [RLS 5 - 01/07/2011] which has the wireless tether built in. Is your xoom rooted or non? Mine is not.
yeah, it would be great if someone could figure out how to tether via bluetooth with an EVO to the Xoom; my wife has a non rooted evo, and a wifi only xoom, and wishes she could tether..
My rooted EVO does wifi tether easily to the xoom, but, it wont tether via bluetooth either; it shows "paired", but never connected..
Anyone figured this out yet?
thanks
same here. I have rooted Evo with vaelpak 3.2 on it and the wifi tether app works great but I can't get Bluetooth to tether at all. I hear that is a faster connection so I want to try it but the is no option to tether after clicking the wrench

I have the same problem running a rooted evo with MYN 2.2 RLS5. Paired but not connected is the only thing I can get. I download the newest wireless tether app and could not get it to work.
I can can tether using Wireless tether using an open connection but when I try to encrypt I cannot get it to work. I sure would like a fix before my trial runs out on the xoom.

I do not have an EVO, I have a droid OG , but ran into a similar problem. I made a video on the subject. I apologize if this does not work for you but try it out. I recommend unpairing your devices first and start where the video starts. I had to unpair to get mine working. Since your rooted it shouldn't be a problem and take a minute to try it out.

if your phone is rooted, its super easy to tether via wifi; hundreds of posts all over this board and the internet about it.
its tethering via bluetooth that doesnt seem to work on an evo..

Thank you but I never receive the part that says tethering under the wrench, it only says unpair and rename device.

Thanks, I find all of the tether wifi posts, and I can do that. I thought I had seen that some evo users were able to tether by bluetooth, but maybe not. Maybe when the sd card slot patch comes out it will fix it.
Hi everyone ! I have a simply question.
I just had my Transformer and I want to connect it to internet with an ethernet cable, but, there is no ethernet port on the Transformer.
I looked for that on forums and I didn't find anything.
So I want to know if it's possible to get back a wired connection via one of the usb port of the dock with an adaptator like the one attached, and if yes, how I can do it.
Thank you in advance !
Somebody did get this working (partially) with the Transformer. It's in the forums - please try searching again....

I have finally rooted my eepad transformer hoping that it would now connect to the internet by using the wifi hotspot on my HTC sensation also rooted
It shows that there is an excellent signal and both devices are connected but the Wifi triangle in the right hand corner is grey not blue
Alass this is born out as there is no access to the internet
I used to use Foxfi on the Sensation with PdaNet Tablet, this worked fine until I flashed a new JB Rom courtesy of albinoman887 which is great big thanks
I have searched high and low for the answer and all I found was something about infrastructure Wifi. Not really sure if that's the problem.
Please can someone help?
I have an Asus Transformer TF101 and ever since KatKiss 4.3.1 and now with KatKiss-4.4.2_019.and all the latest gapps, etc. I have not been able to use my Western Digital 320Gb external (non powered except by the tablet) usb drive. I can use a 32gb usb stick and below by adding the Stickman app and have tried some other otg apps. Even tried Katkiss app. Nothing seems to either give the power to drive now or makes it available.. It does work with 4.2.1 and the stock one which if I remember right was 4.0.1.
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance

New ROM 4.4.2 and usb external non power hard drive
ASUS TF 101 used to be able to power an external 320GB WD portable hard drive, non powered. Since the new rom 4.4.2 it does not.
Any ideas as to how to get it to work?
Forgot to mention, I can use the Asus external/attachable keyboard and connect the WD USB 320GB hard drive to the USB slot on the keyboard and it works fine.

I'v been wondering if I could get an OTG cable, hook it up to a USB to Ethernet port, and use Ethernet. Could you guys let me know if its possible or would I have to root my device or download drivers or something. Thanks.
This would be interesting
I know you can use usb teathering. But i never tried ethernet to usb

the entire point is to have a reliable wired connection. I don't know if the G3 can handle ethernet to usb.
As an IT professional, being able to plug into Ethernet ports would be kinda helpful.
usb > ethernet > usb
that would work... but what would be the point? the phone can tether over usb, but I suppose that's going on the other direction, perhaps what you're after is Internet Pass-through? I've seen this on HTC phones, so it's technically possible, but I'm going to guess it's built into the kernel, not a normal android option.
