Asus PC Sync Update Notification download fail? - Eee Pad Transformer Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Anyone getting an update notification on the Asus PC Sync software?
I'm on Windows 7 64-bit and yesterday the PC app says there's an update and if you click yes to update, it tries to download and fails. Asus' website shows no newer version.
EDIT: LOL, as I finished writing this, I decide to check Asus' site again, and it's now updated, there's a new version to download 5/24. ASUS Sync V1.0.46
The PC app still won't download it automatically, gotta d/l it from Asus' site manually.

Same issue here, but as it's crap I uninstalled it lol

[Q] How to update manually

How do i update my tf tot 8.5.6.19 manually? Because when I check for new updates it says that i have the newest firmware installed...
And is there also a site where i can download the updates from?

http://www.asus.com/Eee/Eee_Pad/Eee_Pad_Transformer_TF101/#download
Download/Android OS/Firmware etc.
look for the "update SOP" in the manuals or downloads, but in a nutshell, unzip it and place the ASUS folder on your external sdcard. Insert the sdcard and you *should* get a notification to update.

Thanks but the latest firmware i can download from that link is 8.6.5.14
Is there another site where i can download the update?

After a few weeks, the latest firmware will show up. Until then, you can download the .13 firmware and upgrade manually to .19- either by checking for the OTA or by searching for it here, although it might only be the US or WW version.

Well now you're on an up to date version (assuming you ment 8.6.5.19), so it will not notify you that an update is available until another update comes out. You'll have to downgrade to an older version. I've never done that so I'm not sure how well it will work, or if it will work.
In the future, I highly recommend not flashing your device with a firmware released for a different location.

Update Server Busy ?

Hey all,
I've just downgraded successfully to 9.4.5.30
And I've successfully rooted my ASUS.
However,
Now i want to push the 4.1 update but when I click on the 'System Firmware Update' tab it searches for a while then says
"Internet Connection Error or the server is busy. Please wait a moment then try again"
is there a way round this or something I'm doing wrong? I.e do I need to be logged into google etc?

Guess that's all we can do.
i didnt root/unlock my Infinity, so i am not sure.
Ahh, well upon waiting until the morning seems it clears this up.
Try again at a different time, may have just coincided with an ASUS server shut down or something.

[Q] TF700T (Android) and Win 8 OS Driver issue

I just received a replacement TF700T( Android 4.0.3). My previous one was rooted using Win 7. I want to root this before doing the firmware upgrades. I have a Win 8 laptop but, it will not recognize the tablet. When I connect the tablet, I get a message: The last USB Device you connected to this computer has malfunctioned and Windows does not recognize it. Trying to use device manager to install gives me errors which I now cannot reproduce.
I would not care so much about the drivers except I am trying to root using Debugfs automated root. I download the Asus USB drivers but, this is not doing anything on the Win 8 laptop. Asus's site does not seem to have a driver for this.
I've searched for another method that does not require an unlocked boot loader but, I cannot seem to find one. Is there a way to do this or at least get drivers that work on Win 8?
Thanks.

Thanks for the suggestion.
It turns out the device was bad. Took it back to Best Buy and saw the same issue there. Swapped out and now the device connects to the computer. Now the issue is ASUS Android ADB Interface in device manager. I have installed the drivers via
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1833212. Also went out to the Google site as you suggested. I see the explanation mark and attempts to manually update the driver gives me a message that the best drivers are already installed.
I'm so close. I just want to get this tablet rooted before running the updates. The ASUS Android Composite ADB Interface is OK. Strange.
Any ideas?

I don't quite get why you want to root before you do the updates. Backing up root and then restoring it works most of the time, but not always.
If I were you, I would upgrade and then root using the Motochopper tool, which works great on Jb 4.2

I've been able to use this method without issues since I got my original TF700. I was not aware of this method to root. I will try it tonight.

Yes, you need an external SD and copy all the files that you need onto it. Now you can insert it in your tablet and access to the file that you want.
thank you! would i afterwords follow the same steps i would follow in the youtube video?

Actually no, unless you are rooted already. To gain root you have to use your computer.
Download Asus Sync (you can disable it right after installing) that should install the latest Asus drivers on your computer.
If you are firmware 10.6.1.14.8 or earlier, you can then use the Motochopper tool to root. If you accepted the recent 10.6.1.14.10 update you would have to downgrade to .8 to be able to root.
We cold help you better if you would describe in detail what your situation is: Firmware version on your tablet, what are you running on your PC, which video are you trying to follow etc.
The more specific your question is, the better answers will you get.

thank you for replying! i have tried installing asus sync as directed and have found the same issue. my tablet is currently unlocked, and the firmware version is 10.6.1.14.8. when trying to connect i get a usb device not recognized message on my windows 7 computer. the youtube video i was speaking of is the one by Dominik Stößel which is a step by step setup, however my tablet does not connect to the computer!

Yep, you have a driver issue. You may have to uninstall/reinstall the drivers in Device Manager. Sorry - other than that IDK why your PC doesn't connect.

Your camera version looks very weird - never heard of an official update breaking the camera...
But if you are unlocked anyway, I see no reason why you should stay on stock!
Head for the CROMi-X thread and use Scott's tool to install TWRP on your tablet.

You may run into the same problem as earlier - you do need to have the correct drivers for this tablet installed on your PC. If the Asus drivers don't work, uninstall them and try the Google Universal Naked Drivers.

Just got an OTA

Phone just updated to H90120J
Same here
I would say around 3:30am pacific time. Woke up and had it on my phone. 450mb+ file. So definitely not just a security update.
Just Got Mine Updated On LG Bridge.
Just tried OTA from the device and LG bridge, nada.
EDIT: Apparently it's unavailable on LG Bridge for OSX. Fired up Windows 10 in Parallels, connected the device to it, and lo and behold, 20J is available via LG Brridge for Windows.. Switched back to OSX, nope, still "latest". HAH!
Were Any of you guys rooted with recovery before or after?
I am on windows 10. Tried over LG Bridge and OTA directly within the phone. No updates for me. Looking for another method to update....
Lg bridge claims that it cannot check software version. on new windows 10... any Ideas?

100% Stock. Just woke up to it around 3am and glanced over and saw the update icon. It had a paragraphs of info after pressing update but rapidly rebooted before I could read anything. I did see the size. 450mb
Here is the only information LG Bridge gave me on the update
Edit* - Also, LG Bridge is telling me that his update is 1.85 GB, not 450mb. Seems like they may have reworked more than they are letting on.
