Ok....pro-tip for you guys unsure whether the sensation is the right device for you:
I was like you once...not many days ago....constantly on here, waiting for reviews....being very critical of what people had to say about it....then i just figure
Vodafone have a 7 day returns policy.....completely free...as is the insurance (incase you lose it)...so take advantage of it!
I bought mine on Tuesday with the sole purpose of knowing i had a 7 day test phase.
I'm happy with the device, Vodafone have been alright, signal is on par if not better than t-mobile.
I'm not as picky as some people on here that expect 0% lag....guys...it's going to lag for whatever reason at some point. It's not everytime though and tbh...complaining about lag on the sensation is being very anal as it doesn't do it enough to annoy.

I am getting the sensation but I am waiting for the sim free handsets to be released. Probably will also have an upgraded roms with few bug fixes when those comes out

Just for info the vodafone handsets in the uk are sim free but do have vodafone branding although it is minimal and until they are unlocked, if ever, then you will be tied to vodafone rom updates.
I've had mine nearly a week and I'm pretty impressed. Admittedly not quite as blown away as I was expecting, but am very satisfied.
I think the build quality is good and I really like the design. I appreciate the slightly longer narrower style; it feels smaller than the HD2 in my hand, and is easier to use one handed.
I am using Launcher Pro (I like the space for extra shortcuts in the dock), which is silky smooth, and goes nicely in combination with the HTC lock screen and HTC notifications bar.
Battery life is pretty good - regularly getting two days, including browsing/gaming/music on the train, and with exchange push enabled.
Have no complaints about signal quality, and GPS fix is very fast (faster that my dedicated car GPS).
The Vodafone branding is minimal, I just hope they are quick in releasing updates when HTC release them.
All in all, very happy with my purchase.

Where can I buy a dutch sensation online?
Im still unsure if I buy this or wait for next one.
I really love the new Sense 3.0 but still after watching videos and so on I also want to test it before I buy.
What worries me is the battery life and size of the phone.
Also next phone will be my first HTC.
Im sure that I want one with the new Sense on it.

The size of the phone is nothing to worry about. The new qHD resolution makes the 4.3" screen a LOT nicer in the hand than the old WVGA resolution.
Local seller has phone already, asking 550. Tempted to go ahead and purchase it and unlock it

As to our running tally against the Galaxy S II, the Sensation wins out on resolution, but loses by a big margin when it comes to quality and the sheer feeling of luxury that the GSII provides.

The Techradar review of it concerning its call quality and battery life has made me rather concerned about these as in both cases they are rated by them as below average.
Most the data is sent automatically to the SD card. I didn't need to manually move half of the apps that I normally I do on my desire. Seriously if you're going from desire....It's a huge change when it comes to memory....it feels so liberating not having to delete other apps

Vodafone's website says that their version is GPRS/EDGE 850/900/1800/1900 and UMTS/HSDPA 850/1900/2100. And Bell.ca lists their phones as being "HSPA/UMTS 850/1900/2100 MHz and GPRS/EDGE 850/900/1800/1900 MHz".
Does this mean that if I get an unlocked Vodafone version that I can use it on Bell Mobility's network?

Hi!
I returned my Samsung Galaxy S2 back to the store and am now waiting for the HTC Sensation. While the Galaxy S2 is a nice phone, I really despise the TouchWiz. Even with ADW Launcher EX & WidgetLocker mitigating the terribleness of the interface Samsung has built, the stock apps still are very uncomfortable to use - especially e-mail, messaging and calendar are lacking. And most of their other attempts at apps aren't any better - dismal at best.
The back cover is unpleasant to remove which is peeving if you like to switch the battery to a fresh one (although spare batteries are not released till mid-june) or regularly move between different countries and therefore like to change SIMs (like I do).
I also would have preferred a capacitive home-button, instead of a physical switch.
Other bugs (which will probably soon be patched) are bothersome as well, like the 3G data connection regularly stalling - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1097612
Specs-wise I think having a higher resolution screen will be a very nice addition, the lower amount of RAM & internal storage probably won't be all that noticeable. I wonder why HTC didn't include an HSPA+ radio, but I think that is something I can definitively live with.
Are any other Samsung Galaxy S2 expatriates lurking on this board? What were your Galaxy-experiences, why are you now waiting for the HTC Sensation instead?

I didn't mean to paint you as a fanboy. By the same token I'm not a fanboy either. Before the disaster that was the G2X my last five phone's were HTCs and I really liked all of them. I had to get the SGS2 because the Sensation wouldn't have been availbale before the G2X had to be returned to T-Mobile. I would have seriously considered the Sensation if that wasn't the case. I'm a phone geek which is why I'm following the Sensation; not to bash it. Both phones are going to have considerable strengths and weaknesses. We should be able to discuss them without threads turning in to page after page of "yes it is," "no it isn't." Peace.

I disappoint... Galaxy S II is much better!
Since 2003 I'm a HTC sure user but now I have to disappoint at all with you and with HTC!
I'm very sorry the new sensation is just considered worse than Galaxy S II but we have to admit this is the thuth!
1) Also if the Galaxy Display resolution (480x800pxl) is lower than htc sens (540x960) its technology is better than htc because is "amoled" and so we have a lower battery consuption, better coulor and luminosity, and better view when there is much sunlight
2) RAM: 1024Mb for Galaxy, 768Mb for htc: no words.....
3) Internal memory: 16Gb or 32Gb (depends by the phone version) for Galaxy while htc sens have got just 1GB! no words still!!
4) cameras: Samsung first one 8mpxl, second one (frontal) 2mpxl; for htc sens is 8mpxl the first one too, but 1.3mpxl the sencond one....
5) battery consuption: with a very similar usage Galaxy SII lasts about 2 full days, while HTC sens just 1/1,5days
I'm very sad to tell it but this time I'll change and I'll buy a Samsung...
Good decision OP, who cares about SamSux. I'll give give them 2-3 month and all hell will break lose in there. SamSux bashing SamSux, look at our development section phones isn't release and no clockwork mod yet and we have 3 roms already. That just tells you HTC is more superior than SamSux. Untill they change their filesystem, HTC will be prefer choice for dev community. Don't matter what spec they have.

I loved the fact that the Galaxy S2 is a very sleek design, thin and light. But the drawbacks - especially in the software area - are very obvious. Their replacements of stock Google apps are, in general, not better but much worse than the original. Plenty of bugs still plague the software - the current version of Music player causes random reboots, data connection is stalling all the time.
Sense (from what I could test on colleagues phones - mainly Desire HD) seems much more thought out and usable to me. I will, still, probably switch to a stock Android ROM, should one arise. But I don't want to be dependent on that.

While AMOLED certainly does produce excellent black levels and saturated colours (maybe even oversaturated), after owning a Nexus One with AMOLED since release I do think the drawback of the technology is the inevitable screen burn-in you get after a few months of use. Nothing that is really bothersome, but LCD technology certainly does have its advantages (besides the higher resolution)

Considering the high RAM usage of Sense, 1GB would have been nice - but still, 768MB should be plenty.

The actual available application memory on the Galaxy S2 is about 2GB, the rest is formated as an internal SD card. In my situation, I typically have about 500MB of app space used - 2GB would have been a nice, but that will still leave me with plenty of headroom once my Sensation is here. A 32GB SD-card will take care of all other storage problems (mainly podcasts, music).

This will vary greatly, but the battery access cover on the Galaxy S2 is very flimsy and uncomfortable to remove. I always carry a second battery for my Nexus One, I will do the same for my Sensation. Changing batteries on the Galaxy S2 (as soon as replacements are available in stores) will be a hassle.
i've done the opposite i've got rid of my sensation and have back ordered the sgs2 the biggest killer for me was the locked bootloader
i know that htc have said they wont lock any more phones but as yet they havent said that they will unlock previous handsets

You may get flamed by some of the fanboys, but at the end of the day it's all about what feels good to YOU and stuff the rest. I again prefer the more solid feel and try to avoid "cheap" plasticky feel, plus have been put off by plenty of users in many forums I've been to who knock Samsung's lack of updates. Hopefully for you they sort this out. Good luck with your choice
I probably still have a month or 2 before the Sensation is available here, and am hoping for some positive news re the bootloader saga.

I currently have a G2x as well as the Atrix. Ordered the Sensation and the SGS2 as well. Been using both the G2x and the Atrix for a while now and so far, I'm inclined towards the Atrix even though it has the locked bootloader simply because Ive had too many random reboot issues, freeze issues with the G2x (even though I've returned it twice) and I'm not concerned about the light bleed issue.
Once I've received the SGS2 and the Sensation (This Tuesday woohooo!!), I'll have all 4 to test with side by side. Will narrow it down to the top 2 and those are the ones I'm keeping I usually have 2 phones (1 work, 1 personal). If anyone has any suggestions or want me to look at/compare something in specific, let me know.

Hello.
I want to buy the 1900 mA battery on eBay
However now there is the HTC sensation.
My question is, will there be a 1900 mA battery for the sensation, and if so, how long it usually takes for good/aftermarket batteries to arrive?
I'd need to wait at least 45 days since someone has to sell the battery and then I'd like to see a couple of reviews.
Anyway, I don't want to spend more money on accessories if the G2X is not going to be my phone
However, if the G2X has all the accessories now, I could use it for a couple of months, 2-3 months
For me it's a matter of price vs performance.
These are my priorities
1) Aftermarket cases, batteries...
2) Development of phone (root, unlock possibilities, ROMs...)
3) Price
If I wait too long I won't be able to sell my G2X but if I sell it right now I might not be able to enjoy all the accessories I bought
For example the $40 InvisibleShield and the 2 cases that I bought
If I buy the batter I'd like to use the phones at least 2 months
After 2 months, if I sell my phone on Amazon/eBay/Craigslist, how much money do you guys think I could sell it for?
By all means, please buy the Sensation.
Good God, buy the Sensation.
I have had the G2X for a month, and nothing has been working perfectly all of the time.
The Sensation is a much better purchase.
Check out my thread I posted, "Good Bye, G2X. Hello Sensation?" in the General Section for all my problems.
1) what about ROOTING the phone?
I've read they encrypted something
If I can't install ROMs, then I guess I can still use it
but if I can't ROOT the phone, no way
2) 1900 mA battery, that is a BIG plus, I really want that battery and the G2X already has that one
If I continue spending money on this phone, then at least I'd use it for another 2-3 months
3) Samsung Galaxy SII
That is another contender, I enjoyed the Galaxy S 4G
At the end of the day, I just want to change if it makes sense, because changing phones costs me around $150-$200, since I have to sell my phone, and put the extra cash for the new one
Plus then I have to sell the accessories
The only accessory that I won't be able to sell is the InvisibleShield, and nobody is going to pay me an extra $40, so my loss
I like the G2X, but if I can have a device with 256MB of more RAM and IF I CAN ROOT that device, then it would be worth it
OK, I took five minutes and looked at the first page of the Sensation General Forum. The following is a list of reported issues form the first page...
Locked Bootloader
Random Sense FC
LAG, Lag, lag
Random Data and WIFI Drops
Bad Battery Life
Low network signal
WiFi "death grip"
Poor compatibility wit Gameloft Games
All from the first page...
Now I'm not saying don't buy the phone. I'm saying every new phone has issues and I'm sick of people proclaiming the Sensation to be the answer to every question. Bottom line...look closely at both and get the one that fits you better. For me The fact that the g2x is faster, has an unlocked bootloader (I know HTC says they'll unlock the Sensation "someday"), and has a rich community of proven developers sealed the deal. In the end it's your choice...

Agreed
Anyway, what is the BEST and most reliable way to install ROMs on my G2X?
I'd like to install a ROM but ONLY IF I'm able to backup my current ROM in case I want to reinstall it in the future
Last time with Samsung Galaxy S 4G I made the error of jumping into ROMS too early, and with no backup of my current ROM I had some issues
mainly some apps in system folder that weren't working properly
I have a backup of the system folder now, but I'd like to have a REAL WORKING backup of my current ROM
Maybe I can upgrade to 2.3 officially someday, without ROMs or anything
Plus when I sell the phone I'd like to sell it with the official ROM
I'm keeping my G2X and next week I'm buying that 1900 mA battery
Anyway, what is the next phone that has Nvidia Tegra 1.2Ghz+ (or Qualcomm 1.2Ghz+) + 768MB (or 1024MB) of RAM and 960x540?
I don't play too many games on my phone and if Qualcomm doesn't support a game or two I don't care too much
I thought HTC Pyramid (HTC Sensation T-Mobile) was THE ANSWER and the next G2X Killer
G2X is extremely popular and people love it. HTC Sensation seems cool but I think for experts it's not worth it
They locked everything in that phone
Anyway, back to G2X, please tell me what is the most efficient way to use my phone.
I'd like a ROM that leaves a lot of FREE RAM so my phone can feel faster than ever
and I'd also like to backup my current ROM and be able to restore it any day
Thanks in advance

and I'd also like to backup my current ROM and be able to restore it any day
Thanks in advance

First if you haven't rooted do it with superoneclick here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1039985
Then Flash Recovery with One-Click ClockworkMod NvFlasher here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1056847
Then boot into recovery (Hold Vol Down + Power) and backup your current ROM. After you are backed up...flash whatever ROM you want. It's all pretty easy with the advent of oneclick. As for which ROM that is up to you but any of the current roms should feel much faster than stock due to the bloat removal...and with the OC kernels you can make this thing scream. Oh, there is a flashable copy of the stock ROM in the dev section if you ever need it (if you made a backup you won't)
And not what you asked for but the Samsung Galaxy S II is the only upcoming phone that has caught my eye. it has a dual-core 1.2GHz Samsung Orion processor and it is a beast. Until then I'm loving what I have.
Hope this helped...

Every single device being released today has it's problems and we all know the G2X isn't without it's own. I was lucky enough to get both a G2X and a Sensation that had no bugs or only a few minor ones. Most of the software bugs are fixable either through custom ROMS or menu settings.
The Sensation bugs you have listed do not exist on some devices but I will address all of your concerns you have with the Sensations bug list.
-Locked bootloader: HTC has already said they will unlock it through a update. When does it come? Nobody knows just like Gingerbread on the G2X.
-I haven't had any Sense FC's and the Sensation I am using has been running for almost 3 days straight without me rebooting the device. I think this problem is attributed to a bad app with a memory leak.
-Once you turn off all the bells and whistles such as animated weather and all of the Sense animations there is no more lag.
-Haven't had a Random WiFi or Data drop but I applied this fix before I started using the phone. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1118017
-As said in my review, I get great battery life. Better than I did on my G2X and I thought I had pretty good battery on my G2X which got 14 hours on moderate use but the Sensation is getting almost 18 hours on moderate use.
-No problem with network signals here. Gets the same amount of signal my G2X does.
-WiFi death grip was an issue until I changed a setting. Under advanced settings in the WiFi menu there is a check box called "Best WiFi Performance". Once the box was checked, my Sensation no longer suffered the WiFi death grip when multiple rooms away from the router.
-Never played a Gameloft game so I wouldn't know. What I can tell you is that the two games I play religiously actually run smoother and look better on the Sensation. Those two are Andgry Birds and Home Run Battle 3D.

Not my concerns so no need to address them. All of the problems listed were taken from the first page of the Sensation forum. I have absolutely NO interest in the Sensation other than there is WAY too much posting about it in the g2x forums (in my opinion). In short I don't care.

Perhaps you're referring to the Samsung Galaxy S II? If so, I'm right on point with you...
I'm going to pick up the Sensation today...G2X is nice, but it gets boring fast...HTC has always made good hardware. Looks good too...The new interface looks promising as well...way cooler than the bare bone G2X...yea yea root it add custom roms blah blah blah...still that doesn't take away from the fact that the G2X is grandpa in design compared to the new HTC S4G. Let alone the SCREEN....Period.
Selling the G2X while I can to get a decent chunk of change on it. Going to take advantage of it not being available on TM's website. Right now would be the best time to sell..
The way I see it...facts that is...the Galaxy S II, if it ever arrives to TM, will be the ultimate phone hands down...in the mean time the HTC Sensation 4g is the throne holder...G2X isn't too far behind, but overall the HTC S4G is the next best thing...
Samsung Galaxy S II...hurry up!
I have a Desire and i do love the phone and i have no problems with it other than the internal memory being too small for apps but with a new rom this has not really been a issue and with the coming official 2.3 upgrade i didn't really see any reason to consign the phone to a dusty shelf just yet....
However, today Orange rang me and offered me 1400 minutes, unlimited text, unlimited internet, unlimited landline calls to U.K. numbers and the new HTC Sensation for £25 per month as my contract is up. (I get £15 credit as a long time customer hence £25 per month)
This offer is only for today and as i've not seen the Sensation in the flesh, i'm wondering is it worth getting or waiting until the next gen of phones comes out, as some review i've read put the Sensation behind the Galaxy S2 and there is no way i'm having one of those.... it looks too flimsy for me.
what do you guys think??
I have just (lunch time) received my Sensation from Orange as an upgrade to my Desire. So far? I love it. The SGSII may have a slight edge on speed, but the build quiality on this thing surpasses it by a country mile. The deal they have offered you is for how long? 2 years? whatever, i'm sure you'll be pleased by the difference. Makes my Desire seem like something ancient. The changes in the Sense interface are remarkable. I rooted my Desire some time ago, running CM7 & Open Home 6. Sense blows this away. I'm busy downloading app after app after app with no sign of running out of space (yet). Though I was disappointed to find only 1Gb onboard compared with 1.5Gb of the Desire HD. The Orange handset came with an 8Gb microSD card in, so i've just swapped it out with the 16Gb I had in my Desire. Now to fill it up.....
I made the same move and wouldn't go back. HOWEVER, do NOt get it direct from Orange as they pre-load it with more crap than any other Carrier. Get it from Carephone Warehouse as they do unbranded handsets. This also means you'll get updates quicker than Orange users
The handset is a definite step up from the Desire, the screen alone makes it worth it. You won't regret it
my upgrade was from Desire to Sensation...i loved my little Desire, never had problems with it, but the Sensation blows it out of the water...it's a beautiful phone and a pleasure to use
I agree with n7of9.
Desire was the perfect phone and I didn't sell it (my rescue phone) but Sensation is outstanding. I'm just wainting the free bootlaoder and instal custom ROM and hope sure you will never regret to own it
see ya
i personally don't give a **** about rooting...the only reason i rooted my Desire was for more app space (oh ok, and to get rid of twatface crap)
Coming from desire as well, 100% happiness here.

do you know that you just made a funny? Sensation > Incredible S > Desire
..the gap between...get it...get it?
i was a little disapointed, i have the oled version of the desire, and it's screen is way better than the sensation (except the resolution ofcourse) also the screen of the desire is more responsive then the sensation, after a few days i returned my sensation to my phone provider as faulty because i think the touchscreen is defective.
I have the latest AceSmod007 cm7 rom so i am already very pleased with the latest sense version on my desire.
To the OP: I presume you don't mean that Orange only offered this upgrade toyou for today only, and that the upgrade has been available from today onwards?
As to whether or not the Sensation is worth it, as I've said in another thread on here (HD2 vs Sensation), for basic use, there is going to be very little difference in terms of performance. So if you don't mind your currently smaller display, and only surf the web, check your email etc., don't bother with the upgrade; it simply won't make that much of a difference.
Otherwise, you have to ask yourself, is your current Desire really too little for your needs?

i switched to the sensation from a desire to, realy great improvement, speed!
the only thing I miss is my AMOLED, the LCD is not as good as AMOLED, bad viewing angle, not as sharp
My upgrade was from Desire to Sensation.I loved my Desire I had no problems before with.I have a Sensation for Two weeks and I love her a little marvel!!
He has a big difference between the two and is worth changed.
just Wonderful!

i nipped into my local carphone warehouse and had a quick play with the phone and i was impressed and i think i'm going tell orange send me the phone asap as i can't really see another phone coming from HTC before christmas which is going to be better??
if i'm factually incorrect here, please feel free to correct me!!
orange me gave a bit more time to think it over, as i told the woman in retentions i was not signing up to 18 more months without seeing the phone first. And after thinking about it i could wait forever for the next "great" phone coming soon and never get anything as i'm constantly waiting...
I just switched form the Desire to Sensation, for a week now. Here are some observations:
- I thought I would miss the hardware buttons on the Desire. I don't.
- It has a bigger screen, but size it's much bigger. Perhaps just as thin.
- Battery life is much better. In fact, you can put EVO 3D's battery (which has even larger capacity) on it to get even better battery life.
- Camera is a lot better.
- qHD resolution rules.
I do miss the super deep black, super wide view angle, and super quick response time of Desire's AMOLED screen however. Pentile never bothers me, although some people hate it. It takes a few days to adjust to going back to LCD screen, but qHD resolution is worth it. And Sensation's screen is pretty good to start with.
Don't expect everything to run much faster though. Both the Desire and the Sensation uses the same CPU core - Scorpion, although the one on Sensation is running at 1.2Ghz and it has two of them... What I mean is, on single threaded applications that are CPU bounded, you will see at most 20% speed improvement. The Scorpion is somewhere in between a Cortex A8 and Cortex A9 core, so on CPU power alone it is not as fast as other Cortex A9 equipped SoC like the Nvidia Tegra 2. If you constantly run a lot of apps and switch between them often, you will see significant speed improvement though. That's the virtue of being a dual core phone. However, the GPU on the Sensation is much faster, so if you game a lot you will see big improvement.

HTC seems to refresh their line up every 1-2 quarters. It is very likely that they will have something around Christmas time. Not sure whether it will be before Christmas or after though. Word is that Ice Cream Sandwich will launched before the end of the year, so the next high end HTC phone may well be a Ice Cream Sandwich phone (may or may not be Nexus branded). But that's half a year away... I wouldn't wait if I were you.
Hello Guys,
I'm new to this section here, maybe I'll also stay here.
I need an advice of you guys.
My current Smartphone is a HTC Legend, it's an older device and also a bit broken (battery hinge).
Today a friend offered me his HTC Sensation, he bought it about half year ago. He wants to switch to an iPhone (eeewww!).
There are a few scratches in the glass. You cannot see them while you are using the Device, but if you look closely in light you can see them.
On the side there are some scratches too (on the metal :S)
But he offered it to me for
250€!!!Shall I take it or would you say I should wait for another device or even for a 4G Device.
I don't know a lot about the stability with Custom Roms (i love cyanogenmod) and about the upgrade availability with ICS for example.
And I loved to mod my HTC Legend, I had S-OFF, but then I had to return it to HTC to let them fix my Touchscreen and I had to remove S-OFF again. And with the current bootloader it's impossible to S-OFF it again
Maybe it would be nice to hear some Germans too, because I don't know much yet about the Plans of o2 for their 4G Network.
And I just have a Netzclub card (The old one with 200MB)
EDIT: At the moment a Electronic Discounter in Germany offers the EVO 3D for 269€ - would it be a better choice, its nearly the same, isnt it?
250 Euros isn't a bad price for it.
You could wait but IMO it would certainly be a big upgrade over the Legend. Maybe it's worth waiting till MWC to see if any new devices like the Ville are ideal for you.
The EVO 3D is similar except I think it's a bit bulkier with 3D and 1GB of RAM compared to the Sensation with an 8MP (EVO had 5MP IIRC), no 3D but is slimmer.
My Problem is that I'm just a Student and I don't have too much money...
The Camera wouldn't be a problem in my opinion...
Basically three options:
Wait, HTC Sensation, HTC Evo 3D
Ahh I see. If I were you I'd go with the EVO then if the Camera doesn't matter.
But if you're not in need of a new phone then it's probably advisable to wait till MWC IMO.
I say get the Sensation, its a great device with some flaws (nothing major tho) but Evo 3D is useless, that 3D stuff is just a gimmick. As for the waiting...well you said you're a poor student (just like me ) so I think it doesnt matter, whatever HTC shows at MWC wont be cheap
If you like cm you will only have cm7 for now. The AOSP ICS support for this rom is pretty lacking. If you want ICS you will have to settle for sense.

Is there any hope for CM9 for the Sensation? And is it already confirmed that the Sensation gets ICS?
OH, just a quick thought, how much internal space does the data partition have? My legend has a 512 mb rom, so not much space left for apps (I'm using data2ext)
Gesendet von meinem Legend mit Tapatalk
i dont know if that is a good price since i am in the US but the biggest issue i have with my Sensation is AOSP/Cyanogen dev support. if I could go back I would probably go with a Galaxy S2 or Galaxy S 2 X (very similar specs to Sensation) since they have much better dev support
sensation is a great phone. I also own an evo3d. I prefer my sensation over my evo3d. Sensation has more devs and stuff going on than the evo. Though if you wait for the latest and greatest I am sure it will cost a pretty penny. Though another thought if you buy the phone from him and get service I believe you could get a new phone at your carrier but you would have to verifiy that with your carrier of choice.

WiFi and signal reception can suffer death grip issues (easily fixed if you get a case ) , Sense sometimes crashes for no reason and you can notice that it slows down the phone from time to time, battery life is average. Again nothing serious but it can be frustrating , software problems are genrally fixed in custom roms if you're willing to root it
p.s it has been rumored that we will get ICS after MWC , probably in the first week of March
Hi Sensation users...
I've done a search and haven't found an answer to this question.
Would it be worth it to "upgrade" from a Sensation to the One S? I know the one s is faster with the new chip but how much better overall could it be?
Also with the screen being Pentile? I've read some people say its ok but others not so. Also i haven't been able to find a comparison of the One S to the Sensation screen?
Any thoughts?
Cheers
The OneS is a decent phone, it features Sense4.
IMO its market similar to the NexusS was, in that its the flagship carrier of something new. NexusS has ICS 4.0.3. Its got basically everything that trumps all other phones. 1080pHD Video, Beats (which some might consider bad but its louder than most AOSP), quad core i beleive?
It certainly is a "all rounder" phone. As my contract with Optus is expiring too (aus) im probably going to go for it. My android enthusiast friend enjoys it very much so.
I am definitely NOT going to upgrade to the one S. In my mind it's only an incremental upgrade from the sensation in most ways, and in some it's a step backward. It's a great phone if you want something like an Iphone, but I just can't see getting a phone with only 16 gb's of storage and no removable battery. PLUS the screen isn't any different, same size AND resolution.
Don't get me wrong, the OneS is a good phone but if you've already got a sensation IMO it's not worth the upgrade. And to answer d2 above, it's only a dual core, not quad.

Haaaa, my OneS friend is a Liar! We have benchmark competitions with our androids for no reason, and he claimed that his "cpu cores" made the difference.
I agree with the notion that its an incremental upgrade. If you are buying JUST for sense4, you can have a ported rom version which works (almost) just as good on your sensation.
thanks for replies... what about the screen? do you think the pentile is that much worse than the S-LCD?
I'm not too concerned about the storage as i currently have 8gb which i don't even use up. But not being able to remove the battery is a little bit of a concern as i want to root etc... and concerned if something goes wrong how do i force a shutdown like taking out the battery?
Id wait it out another year the sensation still rocks especially with CM9 or ASAP, just think of what the next batch of phones will have instore, also heard battery life sucks on the ONE as well :-/
The CPU-Upgrade is quite noticeable. It may "just" be a dual core, but it is almost on par with the quad core of the one x. Due to the lower resolution faster in those testing with the native resolution of the device.
Screenwise... Can't say. Looked not much different than the one in the sensation. But they closed the gap between screen and digitizer, so the viewing angles are better.
Overall great phone. But I would not upgrade, since my sensation fulfills the demands I have for a smartphone.

personally my size limit is 4.3" that's why i wouldn't go to the One X. From the leaks i believe the SG3 will be 4.6 or 4.7? like the galaxy nexus? so it automatically rules it out for me.
my biggest concern in the battery life and screen on the one s. but all the reviews have said its super fast...
hmmm
Plus when you go to a "PENTILE" display from Sensation display you will see pixels. its ugly. Once you see it you cant unsee it. Its like the Droid Razr screen. Awful. origianl super amoleds suck really bad. You either need to go with super lcd 2 or Super Amoled Plus HD(hopefully galaxy III)
If I were you I would not, camera and speed is already decent on the sensation. SAMOLED is better but not enough to justify an upgrade. It does have sense 4 and ICS but you may as well wait until the next HTC flagship device to come out.
That being said I am getting the HTC One S because I'm coming over from iPhone and Sense 4 + ICS is a great way for me to get started.
I just got the T-mobile US Sensation but the One S will be out within my 30-day exchange window. I got the Sensation for free on contract. If the One S is ~$100-125 on sale anywhere, I might trade up. I can't really justify an additional $200+ for it...
Yeah I just got a sensation at a pretty good price outright new so pretty happy about that.
My contract has expired so I was thinking about getting the One S on a new contract. I could sell either one if i wasn't happy with the One S.
Thats the only reason I haven't put OrDroid on it yet although i have been using CM7 and CM9 and am very happy with them too!
I've found in stock the sensation is a little slow and i've been getting FC more times than i would like so far and its all stock.

did you guys get the sensation for free through t-mobile loyalty? I'm about to upgrade in a a few months. I'm thinking of getting the Sensation or the One S depending on the price. If they offer the Sensation for free and the One S for $150, I'll probably go for the Sensation. The main advantages of the Sensation that appeal to me are the removable battery, expansion, wifi hotspot, and potentially price. I don't see why people would upgrade to a One S if they just got the Sensation since they wouldn't be fully eligible to upgrade anyway so it wouldn't be worth it...unless they are buying it unlocked.

I got it free from Costco. Both T-mobile and Costco have the HTC Amaze for free now too. Kind of like an upgraded Sensation, but a bit bulkier. Development for it is picking up, but at the price of free it is also a great alternative to the One S.

Nah mate i'm in australia and someone got one as a gift and posted it up for cheap so i snapped it up
Haven' done anything to it yet but scouring around the dev forums to see which one i like. I am wanting to go with One S software like the OrDroid as it seems to be getting more stable. only a few niggling issues left and the fact that you can run the Sensation at 1.5Ghz is a bonus oh and the removable battery etc...
Definitely not
Can't replace the battery, no SD card extension and soon we will have a fully working sense 4.0 for the sensation which is already OC to 1.5 and up.
I'd upgrade to the One X at least it has a serious hardware upgrade.
I'll probably "upgrade" to a One S. I am really liking how thin it is and I do miss having an AMOLED display. But I'll actually decide once I get to feel and use one in my hands.
I was taking a close look at the One S specs today. It really doesn't look like much an upgrade over the Sensation at all. Same chipset family - 28nm manufacturing instead of 45nm, so it will allow a slightly higher clock speed. Benchmarks don't put it any faster out of the box the what we are getting already.
The only real difference is the dedicated imaging chip. Other than that, it is pretty much just a Sensation that ships with ICS & Sense 4.0. - one that you can't even upgrade storage or battery. Those 2 things are huge to me and the primary reason I stay away from Apple products.
It's marginal upgrade at best. Really quite disappointing.
