[Q] HBO GO Device Check - Android Software/Hacking General [Developers Only]

I see that the netflix app has been hacked to bypass device check. I would really love to use HBO GO on my Motorola XOOM, anyone working on a bypass for this app? I know i can root and change that device file but then my market would be messed up (assuming). Any info is appreciated, Thanks.

Xoom Rooted +Market Enabler stil can't access paid/tablet apps

Hi rooted my Xoom Wifi using the guide procesure and installed and enbaled market enabler.
I still can't access paid or tablet apps. Am I missing something?
use a rooted phone with same google account
Doesn't work for me either but then I figured I can use a rooted phone where market access/enabled works. So I download the apps there and since I use the same account for my rooted xoom when I goto market in my xoom I see these apps I purchased in the phone available for download
Vikram
That is a good solution. However if you want to get tegra specific games you will not be able to download to your phone (I experienced this). I'm still looking for the final solution.

HBO GO on Nexus Player (APK) & Testing.

Hi Guys,
Recently HBO GO was released for Fire TV (Source:http://phx.corporate-ir.net/phoenix.zhtml?c=176060&p=RssLanding&cat=news&id=1999513), this version should have support for various remotes and thus if anyone could pull the APK I would very grateful along with many other HBO Watchers. You probably have to be rooted to obtain the APK so keep this in mind.
EDIT: APK has been pulled - download here- http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=57527277&postcount=3
Thanks Guys,
Keep up the Good Stuff
CURRENT STATUS: APP Installs - Navigation works - Video fails to Load or Loads Endlessly

How were you able to activate? What device did you choose for activation?

I managed to get a few videos started but yer now it seems they all cut off straight away - Do you reckon its to do with device activation?
- Also it is so laggy and slow is this the same on Fire TV? (Like in the UI - maybe missing some of the required libs to run properly)
EDIT: It always plays the intro "It's HBO GO" with Rating, however never successfully retrieves content I guess there is some sort of device handshake if not maybe the app checks the build of the device to see if it matchs or maybe some framework is missing; In any case now we have the app, we can experiment to find a solution.
How did you add it to your library? It won't let me
I managed to get it to work using the HBO Go 2.8.02 APK extracted from my Nexus 7. I disabled USB Debugging on my rooted NP running LP 5.1 and videos play just fine. Only during fast forwarding and rewinding do I get a little buffering, that's expected.
I'm using 2.7.06 and it works great. Just download and old version and 6iu should be good.
Can you please upload the apk??

[Q] HBO Now does not like root

The new HBO Now app in the Play store is not fond of being on a rooted phone. When I try to play a video I get an error message saying "Unable to play video on this device." I tried finding a fix similar to what is explained here bypass whatever root check it was doing, but looks like its not quite as simple as it was in that app. Also tried using RootCloak, but still got the error. Anyone have any ideas?
Let me know if I left out any relevant/useful info.
Device: Nexus 6
ROM: Chroma
Ditch HBO if they are going to jump that bandwagon (like Flixster did).
I'd say if you aren't using it at home (get yourself a cheap pre-paid android) you are SOL until someone develops something specific for HBO.
give up? really?

That's not an answer.
Keep digging, you will find a way around it.
