I did a search, but their doesn't seem to be anyone with this question.
Videos - Google Inc.
Is anyone able to download this? I am not rooted, and just got the update for the Android Market. I can download other software, but this one starts and you can see it in the notifications bar, then it just disappears. When downloading from the market, it shows the downloading progress bar for just a moment then goes away. Just thought I would see if anyone has had any more luck than me at installing this? I have tried both downloads on Wifi and 3G with the same result, I have also restarted the phone. Thanks.
I have the same problem. I'm stock, no root.
I have the same problem. I was just trying to install Videos for the hell of it. Did you try and rent a movie yet? I have a hunch that it will download the first time that you rent a movie; it is just a hunch and I have not felt compelled to spend 3 dollars to find out...

Not sure if this does anyone any good, but if you want it, here is the new Angry Birds featuring in-app purchase of the Mighty Eagle and in-app purchase to remove ads ($1 each I'm told).
Downloaded from the T-Mobile store. It is free, so I am hoping it is ok to post here. LINK
It may not be of any use to non-tmobile people as I'm not sure if the in-app purchases work on other networks. At least it saves TMobile people the trouble of going to the stupid T-Mobile app store webpage (which just says page not found if you are on WiFi... took me forever to guess that was the problem after getting the TXT link).
EDIT: Don't waste your time if you are not T-Mobile... I copied the .apk to my WiFi only tablet and the eagle option is not there at all, it looks just like the one from market. I even installed it twice and verified the version number is the same as my phone (v1.6.3). I haven't tried using market enabler on my tablet to fake TMobile, but that's about all I can think of. Maybe a dev sees this and is willing to hack the APK so all can enjoy the Eagal and feather goals? I'm not going to buy it since I never play on my phone. I sure wish there was a way to play the new stuff on my tablet, even if I had to pay a buck.
EDIT2: Hey, what do you know. Installing MarketEnabler (free in market) and faking T-Mobile actually worked! It now shows the Eagle button. However, when you try to purchase it says: "Device Error, Try restarting phone." (as expected).
i thought u posted the new mighty eagle, nevermind. thanks anyways, works for me i'm on TMOBILE.
Thanks. I couldn't get it to download with the link they sent me even without wifi. It kept saying my phone wasn't compatible (G2). I don't know if it is the MIUI browser that it doesn't recognize or what but it works great with this download.
Not on T-mobile or want Mighty eagle for free then click on this link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1727857
Hi all,
Check this out
https://play.google.com/store
Soo... this is the Android Market with a new name (removing "Android") that is meant to be used on all devices, with Android Apps being 3rd in the list of things you can buy. Oh, and they have an iOS app now to slowly siphon their users once they buy stuff.
Also, does anyone know what tablet this is?

Google on Tuesday introduced Google Play, a cloud-based service formed from the merger of Android Market, Google Music, and Google eBookstore. It's Google's take on Apple's iTunes Store, with a dash of iCloud.

I read the article and TBH I still dont get it. Nothing new that I didn't know. Does Google want more people to know about its Market features? I really just dont get what they merged? The market looks the same on my phone as it did before. The market via pc browser didnt change either, so I dont know what the big fuss is.. If someone can explain so my retarded ass gets it that would be much appreciated..

OK, I'm going to give this a shot:
1. "The unified store as an effort to eliminate the hassle of moving files between computers and syncing devices."
2. "Google Play is entirely cloud-based so all your music, movies, books, and apps are stored online, always available to you, and you never have to worry about losing them or moving them again,"
3. Compete with Itune store.
4. The interface maybe similar to Market, but the way they store their content and how you retrieve them and the anywhere/anyplace availability is the key.
Example1 for item 1: You have 1000 songs store on your SD card and you back them up in your PC. 2 days later you down load 20 more songs from the Market but using your PC, now you need to sync these songs to your phone. Nope, not with Google play, all your songs are stored online, you can sync these songs directly to your phone.(eliminate the hassle of moving files between computers and syncing devices.

That's the whole idea, it will work for everyone. In your case only music cloud base, other people may have movies or books or what ever. With Google play, it's one place cloud storage. How about other items that I listed??

NICE! I know most of ppl think this is stupid but I think Google is making a right move. But if they don't keep up, they will fall behind and so is their business.

Google is continuing they're progression. Setting themselves up to be the future one stop shop for communication and entertainment.
I like to watch it unfold but I don't care for how invasive Google will eventually be with our information. In Europe you can send Google a letter asking them for all your history with Google services. One gentleman had 15,000 pages sent to him from Google. Google isn't legally obligated to do so in the US.
I'm done rambling now

if your phone is rooted, it will not allow you to rent movies straight to your phone. I was able to get it start playing when I put the browser into desktop mode on the link it posts, but it just keeps loading. Anyone have any suggestions?
If you are rooted, DO NOT USE GOOGLE PLAY MOVIES.
Google does not allow movies to play on rooted phones, citing licensing issues (though I'm not really sure what having root access has to do with pirating movies).
If you have bought or rented a movie that you haven't watched yet, you can submit a support ticket requesting a refund. I got my refund within a few hours of complaining, so at least they're good about that.
In protest, I will no longer be making any music, movie, or book purchases from Google. I also changed all my privacy settings for my Google account to be least beneficial to Google (ie: no customized ads, etc). I'd like to see all root users that are pissed off by this move do the same. It seems perhaps Google doesn't realize just how many of us there are.

That's been the case since Google allowed movie renting on their store. Honestly, I don't think it's Google's choice. The movie studios probably have a strong voice when it came to this choice. I'm guessing the movie studios believe that if you're rooted, it'd be easier to get passed the DRM they put in place.
I honestly don't care since I don't watch movies from the Play Store. The majority of Android users most likely never root their phones, thus they don't "lose out" on this option.

rooted nook color
my nook color has a rooted sd card which has unlocked my 'reader' to so much more. Google Play marks most applications as incompatible, how can I change to something that Google play see as compatible? Other markets will load apps which work, but lately many apps are only available from Google Play. Suggestions anyone?

This is the Droid Charge forum. The Nook Color forum would be a much better place to ask that question.
I like how Google Play just introduced its first physical product, the GSM Galaxy Nexus. $400 out of contract. Damn.
I paid $300 for the Charge and it isn't even listed on the software update slides leaked recently. I hope Google goes with another company instead of Samsung for their next Nexus phone.
As for the Charge, I still like it, but wish I could add ram and a bigger flashdisk to it.

So long as I can get a version using Verizon's unlimited LTE plan, SOLD!
Running and ICS / CM9 ROM on my Kindle Fire.
"Your device is not compatible with the version" when trying to download Fandango Movies for Tablets from Google Play.
If somebody would post the APK, that would be fantastic!
If somebody would explain why I get this message for this app and other apps on Google, play I would appreciate it. Is it resolution or LCD density? It would be nice of Google to give an explanation of the "not compatible" reason
Thanks!
I don't know this particular forum's rules in regards to posting "free" apks but the reason has something to do with the build.prop file and the fact google play does not recognize the kindle fire as compatible device because "technically" you shouldn't be able to access the Google Play store. A quick google search for "fandango tablet apk" yielded many positive results and you could always side load it until someone else that knows the rules better for this particular section posts and the apk.
I'm pretty sure its OK to post free apks, and yes a search brings up many links for fandango tablet app but they are all links to the play store. I am also interested in this apk if someone can post it.
Good luck with this. I wasted my time finding the APK for HBO Go yesterday, even backtracking versions. At the end of the day, it really wasn't compatible and would not run.
Also running CM9 on the Kindle, for whatever that is worth.

good to know about HBO go, but many apps that say not compatible do work, like NFL for tablets and USA today etc. So its worth a shot.
I've extracted the following apps from the Amazon FireTV for anyone who wants to tinker around and try porting them to other devices.
Bloomberg TV
Crackle
Hulu Plus
iHeartRadio
Netflix
Pandora
Showtime Anytime
TuneIn Radio
Vevo
Vimeo
ESPN
All the interfaces are pretty good, so we really get these working with other Android boxes (especially Netflix).
Get the whole 140MB pack here.
Thanks for the apps! thought I would try so I could make Netflix more remote friendly. First they failed due to no amazon app store, then fails because the app store says i don't own the app and I can't download the Fire TV netflix from there. I wish I could just spoof the check or disable it.

This. I'm sure it can be done. All dl'ed Amazon Apps associate with the app store...it's just a matter of decompiling the .apks and removing or altering some lines I assume. (Which lines? IDK...here I come google.)
EDIT: Last night I tried to change a couple setting in the build.prop to spoof as a Fire TV, no joy. The Amazon App store wouldn't even open. (Unfortunately, AppStore has closed) Also, it should be noted that this is on the latest nightly CM11 build.
Fire TV was shipped with the purchasers info already entered into the box. (Purchaser info in APpStore) My concern is that there is a tertiary check...like a serial number check in the build.prop, idk... I think that simply removing the checks from the .apks will do the trick...hopefully.
Mod edit: Please do not discuss Lucky Patcher or apps that rhyme with it
Can you tell me how to modify the build.prop? I want to try modifying it to try and fake GPS and location services by doing the following:
gps.enable=true
&
hw.nolocation=false
link
Hey DaveTo - I think we're after the same thing, location services on the fire tv. I sent you a message on reddit the other day about modifying the settings.db file, but that didn't work. Here's how to edit the build.prop. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1948558 Let me know if you get it working!
This is funny. I was just replying to your reddit message on how you should try what I'm asking above. Not sure this technique will help, I think its more suited for getting past Google Store restrictions, but give it a go if you want to try. I end up spending more time trying to figure this out than actually watching hockey games. Plus, it is truly frustrating that others with FireTVs have gotten this to work and you and I can't. I would love to get to the bottom of this, but I can't even get the checkboxes to enable.
Were you planning on adding these two lines into the build prop file? They don't appears anywhere in the file so I'm asking.
gps.enable=true
&
hw.nolocation=false
