Not quite sure where to post this so I'll do it here. I bought a cheap $99 Tablet from China and it has Android 1.6 on it. It never booted up so I contacted the company and they sent me a system dump to put on my SD card and boot to it to restore it. I am wondering, since I have the whole system dump, drivers and everything, if there is a way I can put Android 2.1 or even Froyo on it. I am a complete idiot when it comes to the actual coding part of it so I don't know how much help I would be, but it would be really nice to have some sort of CM port or something, just anything better than 1.6 on there. Please let me know, I can post the .zip that they sent me that has everything in it. Thank you in advance.
EDIT: nevermind, found a site that has the Gome (i guess that;s the name of it) tablets and some people that root/ROM them here http://www.androidtablets.net/forum/gome-tablets/ if anyone else is interested. The way I found out what mine was is... when it starts up it said WMT2.1.2_105 in the lower left of the screen.
Like the title says. I still haven't gotten an OTA update yet, and trying the few 3.2 updates people have linked to haven't worked for me.
A bit annoyed actually, that the store I bought it from, in London, sold me a US one, but there we go.
Anyway, just wondered if anyone in a similar situation had found a way to get it.
Similar thing. I bought at curry´s in london a B60 unit and dock. US version.
I´m in Brazil now, and have checked daily for the update and no luck what so ever.... I tried the recovery mode trick with those 60MB files of the update but all I got was a green android budy with a ! symbol on its chest...
It´s really taking a long time for it to be avaliable at the asus ftp.
Anyone has found a way to update in a situation like this?
My US version got the update in the UK within hours of the release last week.
I bought a B60 from amazon.co.uk and had it delivered to me here in Malta. I got the 3.2 update on 2nd August.
My Dad in the UK has a US version which I bought for him, and he got the OTA right about the same time as I did, ages ago.

Thanks for that last link, I'll give it a try. I can't seem to get my transformer into APX mode - hoding power and volume up (after turning off) doesn't do anything. I've got the file downloaded though and I'll look for an answer to the APX problem and give it a try.

Tried that, didn't work. Got back to 8.4.4.5, but it wouldn't update any further. I'll leave it for a few hours, see if it comes through by itself, but clicking the update button does nothing

I have a B7O that got updated only a few days ago.
Other european posters say that they might have been fixing some bugs before sending it out.
Then I think they stagger the updates.

Mine came the following morning (US Transformer in UK)
It changed my life.... or maybe not so much!
I have 2 B50s here and both got the notification for the update. We updated 1 to 3.2 about 3 days ago when they arrived.

Hi all. I received mine in the mail today. Lots I like such as size weight build and speaker quality. Camera pretty decent too.
As I was setting up I noticed there was a flash of upgrade available but when I went to settings nothing happened on update. I swear I remember seeing to do the update there was a thread on how to do it but could not find it. Anyone remember?
Also I tried to side load the hbogo.apk from my atrix phone. Installs fine but then comes up with not compatible with this device. Am I missing something here as well. I'll keep reading.

Download and install Samsung Kies onto you pc and then connect your GT7+ to the pc with kies running. It will detect the GT7+ and tell you if you need to update the firmware and give you teh option to update it. Easiest way I know how to do it as I don't think updating is supported over wifi or 3g.
As for your app it sounds like it does not support Honeycomb and that is why it won't run. Your other devices are more than likely either running Gingerbread or Froyo.
sdelliott31 after you manage to upgrade your software on 7+ would you please come back to us with some information about the new firmware.
apparently it should be a 147MB file size bringing version EKL1 Android 3.2 Honeycomb and its for Wi-Fi US model.
can you confirm this? or anyone else?

I can't confirm the size but mine updated to the EKL1 update. I also had a pop up saying there was an update available the first time I turned on the device (a new one as I returned my original for SOD).
Hello all,
I have another one of these phones on a different line that is not rooted and the user don't want to either.
For the past 4 updates the phone never got ota updates.
I usually was able to get a ruu and update the phone.
I was wondering if anyone knew if a way to force install the new update for this phone?
Mainly important because having so much problems with battery life on that one.

In december 2013, last month, I bought a new tablet, it's a rather cheap one, 179 euro's. I thought I'd be good enough for me, but it freezes lots of times, since I use a torrent client on it. Then it's unusable.
I thought, maybe if I root it, put a other ROM on it, it might be faster and I could even try to overclock it.
I rooted it, all went fine, but I have no idea how to put a custom ROM on it and have no idea if there are any available.
Could someone help me with this? I'm rather noob to these things.
