Hello all,
I have another one of these phones on a different line that is not rooted and the user don't want to either.
For the past 4 updates the phone never got ota updates.
I usually was able to get a ruu and update the phone.
I was wondering if anyone knew if a way to force install the new update for this phone?
Mainly important because having so much problems with battery life on that one.
Thank you in advance and for your time.
Anyone?
The battery drain is really being a killer on that one.
Ahh Come on. lol
I have searched for the last few days and can't find anything.
It won't allow me to push it to cache partition either.
Is there anyone that figured out how to do this?

It sure does show up under data used, so I assume that it will be counted against you data plan.
Is your phone rooted? Showing symptoms associated with.
AGAIN
Yeah I have no idea what this update is ? This is like the 5th time it failed on me, so forget it.
I am rooted.
When I got the update, I had just gotten the phone. The update went through just fine, the day after I rooted my phone. So maybe rooting had something to do with it. I don't see how that could effect it but maybe.
I think it's time you detach the umbilical cord to the OTA update Update using Clockwork. (Just a suggestion).
Hello all,
I am new here as I have stayed faaaaar away from androids for many years (flips and windows). I tried to do a search on the boards but, unfortunately, my phone keeps freezing up and this is my only out to the web ATM. Anyways ever since my device prompted for me to download the newest update I wearily decided to go ahead. Ever since then my phone gets stuck on the lock screen, lags ridiculously, and refuses to send a message via text...not to mention random freezes. Is there anyone else having this problem. I know its new, but is this a yet known issue with this phone? I hate to factory reset it again if it is not going to fix anything?
Thank you,
Norseman

Not yet what little I have been able to read around the web, before it locks up again, was it wasn't helping. So I wanted to ask before I wasted my time and it has to wait for my 12 hour shift. Just lack of communication from my site really stinks and may put some things behind.
Only problem I had with the update was serious battery drain from Android OS and System way higher than normal.
Thank you for backing up my reasons for never updating phones, computers, tablets, electronics in general, until I actually need to!

Generally you 'need to' update things when a new version is released because there are usually security enhancements that can be exploited with older firmware.
Hey guys, i really need your help. Hope this is the right subforum, but I thought with needed help / a question, I'm pretty ok in here.
So whats the problem... It might sound pretty easy just from the title, it actually isnt..
So what exactly I want access too?
I think you guys all know Pokemon GO... I'm from germany, so I had do take the APK. The problem about this was, my phone is a Galaxy S3, so Android 4.3 cap.
Long story short, i rooted it and flashed cyanogenmod on it, so i have 4.4.4, even changed the Kernel so it can run smooth.
And it did worked out. So the last days i was playing Pokemon go all day long and was having fun.
Now the problem:
Today, Pokemon GO came out to the Android App Store, and I want access to the regular download with updated coming in frequently, without installing every update manually (ok to be honest, I think all this took me much more time then I ever would need to download and install all future updates of this game, but I am pretty lazy)..
The App Store just tells me I dont have access to it with my device.. So I googled again for hours..
I used Market Helper and hoped I get access.. nope.. I changed the build.prop so my phone now "is a galaxy s5".. doesnt work either.. and yes, i deteled cache and files frequently, restarted the phone..
So right now I'm desperate and have no idea how to fix this problem. I hoped someone in here has had the same problem or knows how to fix it..
I'm looking forward to your help and thanks for just reading about my problem.
Cheers
I feel your pain.
Having exacty the same problem. Even tried market helper. Btw, I am running the s3 with the newest cyanogen nightly (1 week old) and Android 6.0.1.
Maybe the playstore checks for stuff like available ram, and that is the reason why it is not working. Our phone only has <1GB and the game wants phones with >2GB as far as I know.
So I'll try to keep this as short as I can. Basically, this is my gf's phone that she gave to me. Ever since it updated to 6.0.1, she's had nothing but problems with it. Constant freezing, lagging, restarts, SMS trouble, poor battery life, you name it. Recently AT&T rolled out an update and her phone upgraded automatically. After that it pretty much bricked. The update failed for some reason and the phone got stuck in Download Mode. And then it didn't turn on for almost a week. Since her phone is a couple months out of warranty, she was forced to upgrade to an S8, and she gave me this Note Edge.
Yesterday I spent a few hours trying to fix it. I finally managed to get it to power back on and flash a PIT file to it, then flashed a fresh install of 6.0.1 to it. It worked okay for maybe 10 minutes, but then it would reboot every time you tried to lock or unlock the screen, and was still super laggy. So I decided to to give it another try and I managed to downgrade it to 5.1.1. It seems to be working great at the moment (fingers crossed).
So after reading here in the forums, it seems that you can't root AT&T Note Edge's. Bummer. I was hoping I'd be able to disable updates on this phone, unlock it, and use it on a new carrier (I think Verizon is trying to kill my Note 4 now).
So my question is, is there any way that I can keep this phone on 5.1.1? I know this sounds stupid, but I'm not sure how AT&T updates work, if they're forced or you just get annoying pop-ups. Right now I'm reluctant to connect the phone to WiFi, and there's no SIM card in it. Either way I'd just like to disable updates.
I haven't messed with rooting since my S4, which was about 3.5 years ago, but if there's something I can do to keep this phone on 5.1.1, I want to try it. Thanks.

You should be able to turn off auto updates in the about phone area of the settings menu.
You might want to turn off the picture sync'ing in the settings area of gallery....three dots, top right corner.
Hi,
I don't know that much about phones. I have a Galaxy S7 from Verizon (SM-G930V) with the software "G930VVRS8CRK2." The phone has been unbearably slow since around November or so. The battery also drains incredibly fast.
Questions:
1. If I reset my phone to factory settings, would it theoretically go back to the speed it was when I bought it? As in -- how much of the slowing down is caused by software updates and system bloat?
2. Is there a way to wipe out my phone and install whatever version was on the S7 back in October/November? I remember there was an upgrade that changed all the icons, and the speed of the phone went up -- it was great. After that, some other update came out that turned it sluggish. Did other people experience this? Am I talking nonsense?
3. Would it be better to install some kind of custom rom? If so, is there one most people use?
4. Is there a way to block future system updates? Is that wise to do?
Thank you for your help, I would appreciate any guidance!
