I know this has, nothing to do with the thunderbolt, but im really excited and figured id share with you guys that i just got my google music invite, so check your email if you still havent gotten yours. Goodluck!!
I don't see the appeal.
Put your music on your memory card, no buffering..drain battery while listening to it.
Put music in the "cloud", drain battery even faster because you're constantly downloading your music from the "cloud"..and waiting for it to buffer.
That's just me though..
20K songs uploaded ... don't think I could find a SD card that big
I can dl for offline listening on TB & replace as my mood changes.
20K song choices @ work ... this appeals to me big time as a music collecter.

Yes Really! ... and why would I want to carry around another device when I have access to over what is almost 150 gigs of music?
20,000 songs might be a big overkill, but so are alot of other things coming out. do we need quad-core processors inside mobile phones, no but its always fun just to have that option. And thats mainly the appeal for me its presents another option for me, and more options and competitions is always better, whether its deemed the most practical thing available right now or not

You also don't have much music then. I got over 100GB and can't fit it on my phone. Doubt buffering will be even noticeable.
I totally enjoy music collection as much as the next person but honestly how many songs can you listen to out of that 20k+ collection. It is nice to have and bragging rights but come on lets be realistic. If you on average listen to 2 hours of music per day would take you over 2 years to dent that 20k library. Doubt people listen to 2 hours of music / 365 days a year. All in all it's new and trendy and hey it's cloud something so people will find a use but as already mentioned I mean 25g you have in SD space is still more then enough for songs you would listen to for the next year to come lol.
No bragging, this is realistic. I am a the kind of person that has music on constantly. Let's says for argument sake I listen to just 6hrs of music a day. Let's say the songs are of a 4 min average so 15 songs an hr ... 90 per day ... 20K in songs w/o repeating is 222 days worth.... Oh no, I think I need more space Google
For reference I have scrobbled 147K+ songs in 6+ years ... feedhead on Last.FM
Im waiting for mine. Ive got 130 gigs of music on my computer and I listen to more than 6 hours of music a day 365. While Im working I get to have headphones in, when Im home, I cant stand the radio. Heres to hoping I get my invite soon!

hi guys
I want to know if i can use my new touch pro which comes on wednesday as a multimedia player. My Zen just died and i'm being refunded £150 so with this should I buy an extended battery, 32GB SDHC card and just use the pro for music/films?
thanks!

I use it as multimedia player, it performs well, both as music and movie player. Two minors drawbacks compared to my mp3 player: bigger formfactor and lack of hardwarebuttons.
Get urself a set of A2DP headphones with AVRCP buttons. works a treat
(atleast it does with my Hermes)

Can you play high def movies WDawn? If you're on the stock battery how long do you get out of it when using it as a multimeda player? How are the stock earphones? Should I get a mini-usb to 3.5mm converter?
thanks!

Didn't try high def movies yet, just playing the regular Divx (not converted, 700 mb file) and it works great. About the battery life: it's now on for about 6 hours playing albums on the sd card and battery has dropped to about 60% (note that it have push email and 3G on) and that i have been playing around with it quiet a bit.
Stock earphones are so so. Not bad, not great, i'm thinking to buy a mini usb to 3.5 mm converter myself to use my regular headphones.
What player do you use to play the Divx videos WDawn? TCPMP?

good to know i can play movies .. thanks. - it'd be great if i could find out if it did hd also
I will likely only have push email on when i get a data plan sorted sometime so that'll improve the battery life somewhat ... i would like to know how much thicker using an extended battery will make the phone though tbh .. is the "extended battery" a whole new backplate or is it just a large battery with a new backplate (do all extended batteries which require a new backplate come with one?)

Has anyone tried DivX Mobile Player, on the Raphael?
http://labs.divx.com/MobileCommunity
On my Niki, it works like a charm, and its allot faster then TCPMP(In AVI playback).
Forget it. If you want to use TP as multimedia player you need to buy additional set of batteries or solar battery kit for additional energy.
After 3days of using TP I can say that TP is a "city phone"
Wake up, disconnect TP from charger, go to work (listen music or browsing the web but if you are planning to use GPS additional car charger is required) then at work you should connect your TP to USB for charging, disconnect your TP after work, go home (music listening is allowed or even web browsing) and ath home you need to remember to recharge your TP because out of battery alarm is ringing.
It's really looks like that.

I'm considering purchasing a head unit for my truck that has stereo bluetooth built in.
I know that I could purchase a 16GB SD card to store my music on, but I want to carry much more than 16GB of music. I am wondering if there is any coders out there that agree with me and think this would be a cool idea.
I am not a coder, although I am an IT technician so I do have working knowledge of these things, but have no knowledge of how to implement something like this..
What I would like to do is have
1) A G1 running (preferably) Cyanogen's latest Rom
2) An external Hard Drive that can be powered through USB
3) An adapter that allows you to charge your G1 and connect another USB device
So Coders, Developers and the such, is it possible to write a script, and/or application that would allow the G1 to mount an external Hard Drive AND power it through USB to access a large library of music to play through stereo bluetooth?

if i remember correctly, no, because google hasnt released those api's yet (we cant hook any device up to the g1 and control/use it, except for headsets)
but you can use imeem to host all your music online and just login to imeem when driving
nope.....for one very good reason....it isnt "wired" that way
and would kill the battery in all of 30 minutes lol

Ya that or I wish Orb would make an app for Android, and T-mobile would bring 3G to South Carolina... I'm sure us backwoods South Carolina rednecks are last on their list though....
use gmote, you can stream music and video to your phone, and it works over 3g!
check it out!
there was another post a while back similar...cant find it....from what i read there i got the impression it cant be done with the g1 coz of some screwed up way of doing things
anyway....the g1 wouldnt be able to output suitable voltage and current (normally 5v 500mA for external drives)(standard usb values)
the battery doesnt even go up to 5v so....meh

if he is using apps2sd that isnt a good option, and since he mentioned cyanogen, chances are he is
and yeah, 16gb of music to listen to while driving is alot of music imo, and 32gb is just crazy
but to each there own, i think your going to have to either use online radio or just swap out music every time you get home to shuffle it up, but even that takes time due to the transfer speed limit from computer to g1
I have an VPS that I run and host files off of. I also operate a ShoutCast Radio server from it. If you can get an ShoutCast Player for Android, just buy a VPS, install the ShoutCast Server files, add your music, configure an auto-dj script, and then run the server. There you have a server running 24/7 that you can add/delete music from and play it straight to your phone. All for the cost of around $25? IF THAT!

There's Andorb. While not released by Orb, it works pretty well for streaming music and pics through the Orb service.
Do you really need your entire library of music in your truck? Are you planning on driving for more than 200 hours straight and you just can't stand to listen to the same song more than once
Seriously though. 32GB should be more than enough space. Keep the external hard drive at home and load up the 32GB you feel like listening to that MONTH every morning before you leave.
Seriously i can't stand people saying i need 1XX gigs of music... honestly most people can get away with having 5 gigs they just to lazy is the thing IMO. Your 16 gig is enough or are you travel cross the US n wont be seen listening to the same song once ever couple of hours?

I live in Greenville.... No 3G
the guy had hacked it together....using a standard size card and a thrown together adapter....it looked a bit dodgey....and delicate
if i stumble across it again il let u know...i found it by pure accident a while back
anyway - micro sdhc 32gb cards are due out in time for xmas
and the sdhc standard clearly dictates that any sdhc device will work with all cards from 1MB-32GB
cant wait for 64GB SDXC (specs say they will be capable of 64GB-2TB) never gonna use all that BUT I WANT IN SOOOO BAD
as for the music debate - i have 60GB of music.... although there is only about 5GB worth i actually listen to regularly...its good to have the extra stuff for wen i fancy a change

That looks like a great headset and from Handtec its not that pricey. However the Motorola S9 is very expensive but also sweatproof. cant decide
why should u want it sweatproof? I've got in ear plugs so they don't suffer from sweat atleast that is my experience with in earp plugs.

About the gym, I work out alot to but still no problems with the in ear plugs but now back to the test that I would preform.
Ok now starting the test @ 11.14 and my phone is @ 98% and locked the phone so it's just using bluetooth and playing music I've got some widgets and auto updates that update every 3 hours so they won't have that much influense also 3g is turned off when I lock my phone so u know .
So for the overview(End will be added when I'm done with testing)
Time Battery
11.14 98%

I have a S9 and works very well in sweat situation, doesnt' fall, the quality is good enough for a gym/biking situation. However if you have small ear cavity (dont know the specific name for them) may be sore after some minutes but with time you the region get less sensitive.
One more thing, it's better to leave the phone in a almost static position, ie in a armband, on the treadmill because if you put in your pocket while running the constant moving makes the sound come and go. It's seems that occurs with most of bluetooth headsets.

Not true the Sony Erricons MW-600 has a builtin FM radio
I have the backbeat 903's. I love them, sound quality is good, Mic is clear even with background noise. You can still hear what is going on around you, which saves getting run over when crossing roads. You have to store them carefully though. Mine are in for a warranty repair right now, left speaker stopped working but I used to just keep them in my pocket so probably my fault. Controls work and battery life is good. People do mock the look of them but who cares?
So I decided to give RadioTime a whirl. It's such a great concept. Plus I spend about 4 hours a day in the car, and have 3g coverage for the entire drive, so I wanted to give this a shot to change things up a bit from Last.fm and Subsonic.
I can't get the damn thing to stop skipping though. It skips like crazy. I know it's not a coverage area issue because I'm streaming 256 kbps mp3s from my home computer with Subsonic with no issues.
Has anyone else run into this? Is there a fix or an alternative application? I'm running SkyRaider 2.0 at the moment if it matters.
there is an option to choose a different stream. when mine starts to skip i generally choose a little bit lower quality stream and it seems to solve the problem.
