If you rooted your phone you are not able to install the update...
2 Scenarios:
If you haven't rooted your phone and the update failed, you can try removing battery and placing it back in...if that doesnt work I would boot into recovery mode; using the volume down key and power button when the phone is shutoff and restore phone back to factory settings
If you are rooted, I would advise you to reboot into clockwork mod recovery and wipe your system and cache...and flash the stock htc ROM...wich is in this link...

Hope this helps

Yes, it's a rooted phone.. so this is normal for rooted phone.. i will try to update using clockwork..
Thanx

So I rooted my wife's Inspire. Reinstalled all her apps and what not. The only way to get the update is to download and flash via CWM and lose all the stuff I just installed?

If you want just install Rom Manager then install Clockwork recovery from within Rom Manager. Just like i did.
Desire HD - Rooted
LeeDrOiD 1.2
Rom Manager 2.5.07
Did an update in the rom manager, HTC Desire HD was the only option
BUT "An error occurred while attempting to run privilidged commands!"
Now worked, for some reason superuser had been disabled, and I know it was not me
Nice!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
\o/ thanks, installing worked like a charm, just how it should

Everything works great.
Thanks Koush
YEP! GOOD MORNING!
Thanks for the heads up, it's all working fine. Just wondering if anyone knows how to fix the issue regarding the phone turning on and booting into Clockwork recovery when it's off and being charged.

Need more info than you've given.
Have you got root on the device?
Have you got S-OFF?
If you have both, then simply download Rom manager from the market and install the recovery.

Hi
Try to run "Fix permissions" in Rom Manager. I had the same problem and this helped me.
Do we need to manually S-OFF before we can flash roms with this?
I didnt realise so i have already flashed recovery...
Do i need to go back and sort out S-OFF?

Yes, i think you definately need S-OFF
Im somewhat confused now, one of the guides mentions that S-Off is not mandatory...
Can someone post to confirm please?
Thanks
Thanks for the update!

S-OFF is not mandatory!
Ok I don't get it.
I had permroot on my dhd with visionary and downloaded Rom manager now and flashed clockwork recovery by selecting my device. Now if I select reboot in recovery I only get options, reboot, sdcard update.zip and wipe. Also it says e:can't open cache/recovery/command
It does not show options like backup, restore or install from zip. Even after doing the fix permissions in Rom manager
What am I doing wrong?

Backing up my rom

I recently purchased Rom Manager but every time I select backup current rom it reboots the phone to a screen that only has options to reboot recovery, reboot, recover, & shutdown. Its the same screen I saw when holding the volume up and turning on the phone. What am I missing?
Thanks
Gord

You need to root and install Clockwork Recovery to use the built in Backups of ROM Manager.
The phone is rooted and rom manager says clockworkmod is installed but Im still not getting anywhere
I just checked again, and I have 3.0.2.4 of clockworkmod installed.

Try installing clockwork recovery manually. It doesn't sound like you have it installed. At least not correctly.
AHA! Success... I redownloaded and flashed clockworkmod again and this time I was able to backup my rom.
Thanks for the help, much appreciated

Cant make a nandroid in recovery

Yesterday I rooted my 8013 note with UEALGB software and tried to make a nandroid in high on android cwm. It would reboot recovery everytime i started the backup process. So i flashed TWRP through goo manager app then tried to make a nandroid and the same thing would happen. Any suggestions would be GREATLY appreciated.
Edit: I just tried to flash the stock recovery and it seems like I am stuck with cwm or twrp. I flashed stock recovery through Odin and it said it was successful but when I reboot into recovery I still have custom recovery.
Edit: Seems to only happen when I try to backup the system partition.

Zeodmaxs root without recovery first then I went back and flashed high on android cwm through Odin later in the night because I wanted to start playing around with stuff.

The root injected image causes problems. I think you're gonna have to ODIN the original image back on it to fix it. Search around, it's here somewhere.
Go for method #2 next time. Roots without an issue.
Did you flash the the Superuser.zip file after flashing Zedomaxs cwm.tar fie in odin? This is needed to get true root priveleges.
Not sure why you can't reflash a stock rom though, that's how I've always gotten rid of root access to revert back to stock...

I didn't flash the superuser.zip. I have root while in android though. I will try to flash it and see if that helps.

A small rooting dilema

Hello everyone, I'm completely new to androids and I recently rooted my phone with CF's Auto Root.
I've been scouring the forum for information on how to resolve my problem but none that really help me with my specific problem
I want to re root with clockwork but can't find anything on it
Can someone help me out here? Sorry for sounding really dumb, I just switched over from apple this stuff is a completely different world to me
Completly factory reset your phone n try rooting again . If it fails, you need to root using the same software as you did earlier

So with my original method I've rerooted my phone. How do I install clockwork mod on a rooted phone if it wasn't installed in the rooting process?
Take a look at the "goo manager " app and TWRP instead of CWM.
But CWM also has an easy install app if your phone is supported. Just see if it is or not and go from there either way.

Thanks for answering Pennycake.
I'm on Rogers Carrier OEM firmware right now and I'd like to flash the international firmware as to rid bloatware to my Note 2.
Which app would you recommend me to backup my rom with?
I've successfully rerooted, I found the problem with my phone. After it had been unrooted it needed to be rebooted in order for some effects to take change. So through the original method of CF-Auto Root, I rerooted my phone. I've installed the standalone ClockWorkMod app but it doesn't seem to make back ups properly. Through the app I hit back up and it shows the time stamp I hit 'ok' and my phone shuts off and starts up in recovery mode only not in ClockWorkMod but Android system recovery <e3> or something along those lines with only options to: reboot, install updates from adb, wipe data, etc.
What am I doing wrong?
Try installing the recovert img using clockworkmod before backups, because its not an app error, it is a user error. Using chainfires root method means no cwm. Using odin or lemme guess, you have a gs3, unified tool kit you get cwm.

What recovery do you have right now? If it's twrp (team win) do that go with clockwork mod. Twrp (goo manager) is by far (in my opinion) the best and user friendly. But it's your call. And you don't have to un root and re root to do it. You just have to flash the new recovery via bootloader and it will work. For rom choices I personally like jedi xpx and jellybam. With jedi xpx you can overclock the sh*t out of your note 2 to 1920 and it's still stable.
I've used many recoveries and twrp is my choice hands down. And yiu make back ups easier. So dont unroot again and re root. Just download the latest twrp and flash through bootloader. but to each their own

I'm on the Galaxy Note 2 i317m in Canada. Clockworkmod isn't letting me back up, everytime I get the box with the timestamp to create a back up I hit 'ok', my phone reboots into recovery mode and its the stock recovery, so no option to restore. Also when my phone's model isn't listed in the clockworkmod flashing menu within the app. Is my phone not supported? The N7100 is the one listed when it asks you do confirm a phone model.

When I boot into recovery it says is Android System Recovery <3e> and below are listed a few options, reboot, wipe cache, install from adb, etc
Then you dont have twrp installed. And by the sound of it you dont have cwm either

Problem updating to 4.4.2

Hello everyone! My nexus 5 is stock 4.4 rooted with chainfire, and stock recovery.
I received the notification to update to 4.4.2, and accepted, unfortunately it failed, and rebooted normally. I had frozen some system apps with titanium backup (i.e google play music) and think that might've been an issue. I also altered the files necessary to tether.
Wondering how I can try to flash this again? Where is the update stored once downloaded? Can I just flash it in my stock recovery? Thanks for the help in advance.
I have the same problem. I just uninstalled a few apps like play music. Phone is rooted with twrp as recovery.

Freezing apps is fine, it's the tethering mod that is preventing the OTA from flashing.
You can download the factory image and update that way. Flash them one at a time so your data doesn't get wiped.
