Hello
Is it right, that I loose my guarantee by debranding my Desire S?
If yes, what would I have to do in the case that for instance my display gets broken? Should I go to the provider. Which opportunities would I have in Austria to get it repaired?
greets
Can no one here answer my question?
you can debrand you phone with S-OFF only, but you can keep your warranty with S-On only. Thus, wait untill reversible S-ON to S-OFF and back will be possible.

No you can debrand your Phone also with S-ON and there are two tutoials in this forum on how to do it. The only thing to mention is that you can only downgrade to original HTC Firmewares...
Today HTC told in an official statement that they won't lock their bootloaders anymore. Hopefully they will unlock them with an update for the actual phones
Has no one here experiences by giving a unbranded device for repair to vodafone A1 orange or another operator?
I had a Desire with T-Mobile Branding. I returned it twice, the first one and the one i got instead of a repair. but i branded it again before the return. But this will be hard if the display doesn't work.
Thats it and also if you don't have the rom for instance for A1 and only for vodafone UK...
But it would be interesting if they would get it if I would bring them an unbranded. They only send their devices to HTC aren't they. Don't think htc would return them without repairing them as long as you dont send them a device with a custom rom...

Hi Guys,
I have a HTC Sensation which I rooted a few weeks ago. Since then, I have gotten a new Samsung Galaxy S2 which I prefer so I planned on selling my Sensation. I was in the process of unrooting the device, following steps I found online.
However, when I tried to install the RUU, it got half way through the process and told me that the RUU was wrong for my handset. Unfortunately at this point the software had already wiped the phone completely so now when I start it up it just sticks on the HTC splashscreen.
The RUU I used was RUU_Pyramid_HTC_Europe_1.45.401.2_Radio_10.56.9035 .00U_10.14.9035.01_M_release_208857_signed
When I checked my version in About Phone, I had 10.56.9035 .00P but I though they were so close that this must be the correct one.
Can anyone help me?
Try doing it again. Not sure it will work, but to be safe wait someone to confirm this or give another answer.
Might be the incorrect RUU since I assume you didn't change your CID, try to get the exact version that came preloaded in your phone. Should work
Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G using XDA App
Is your sensation branded, european, asian etc. if you but yours from t-mobile you have to get the t-mo one
try pull out your battery and put it back in. and try to boot into recovery (power and Vol down) that worked for me. good luck

I think this is the problem. Maybe you have to flash some Vodafone one.

do you know where i might find one?
Ok, I just managed to check my CID, its VODAP001. Anyone know which RUU I need?
you should of sold it rooted the point is to get rid of the phone
OK, I've managed to fix my issue. What I did was change my CID to 11111111 with SuperCID. then I just installed a stock ROM. Running better than ever too!
So my Sensation was S-Off and rooted however it started to play up so went back to S-On and Un-rooted, HBOOT now reads ****Locked**** and S-On. Is this all I need to do, does something more need to be done, will they be able to tell? They said on the phone if warranty is voided then I must incur the cost of fixing it..
Id really appreciate your help guys.

Ok thanks, how do I know if I have stock recovery?
Hi, i am sending mine back tomorrow as well.
Do I have to put it back to S-ON? I've heard its risky.
Best to, and it's not risky if you follow the guide to a T
Make sure you've set the CID back to what it should be before doing it (assuming you changed it in the first place)
Hey, it looks like mine's going back as well.
I'm a little unsure of which version HTC rom was default on it because I bought it from Pixmania and not a carrier.
It originally had Vodafone branding and the box is written in German.
I don't think I've changed off of the original kernel or radio as I've only switched roms through ROM Manager since I rooted the phone using these instructions.

I too am wondering the same thing, but my problem is slightly different. My phone wont even power on so i was unable to s-on factory rom it, im unsure of what exactly needs to be replaced on the phone so idk if theyre gonna be able to see that the software has been changed.
Hi again,
I found my CID: VODAP102, it's for Vodafone Germany.
Where can I find the matching stock ROM?
Thanks,
ANKh

Uhoh, i didn't change the CID back but I did S-ON...
Will they notice if its just a hardware repair?
Too late now, I guess I will find out...
Okay, my Sensation is ready to go for repairs:
I found an old HTC_Pyramid_Vodafone_DE RUU here.
I installed it. And updated... and updated... and updated...
Because I still had my original cid I was able to get my phone into fastboot and "fastboot oem writesecureflag 3".
Now my phone is running a stock rom with locked bootloader and locked S-On and stock recovery.

Yes it did, HTC UK repaired the phone and converted it to a stock HTC UK phone without any German or Vodafone stuff on it anymore.
They didn't charge me anything for it.
I've send my desire s back to HTC caus of some probs with my battery.. it was rooted and s-off.. when I get it back it was s-on and unrooted.. I've paid for nothing..
Sent from my HTC Sensation XE with Beats Audio Z715e using XDA
I sent my Sensation back a few weeks ago because the touchscreen stopped working with S-OFF and they didn't notice and is still S-OFF now!
The ear piece speaker on my One S broke, and I'm sending it into repair. I bought my phone unbranded from Phones 4U. Currently, I have this latest RUU loaded up:
RUU_Ville_U_ICS_40_S_HTC_Europe_2.31.401.5_Radio_1.06es.50.02.31_10.09a.50.04L_release_275655_signed
I believe this RUU is from Three, because it added a load of Three bookmarks to my browser.
In HBOOT, it does say "Relocked", but it doesn't say "Tampered", which I gather is the best you can get after rooting.
Considering the phone should be unbranded, should I try loading the most recent stock HTC RUU? I'm just worried they're going to point that out and refuse to repair :/
id like to know this too as i have an unbranded uk one s and im using the same RUU

I don't think you need to load a new RUU. Your problem is a hardware related so they shouldn't bother about the OS on the phone as it's not related to the problem and the OS is an official HTC one anyway..
When I swapped my HOS there was an unofficial ROM (plus I installed my own and the CID was an Orange one). An O2 guru sent it to a repair centre and they accepted the phone even with the development notice at startup..
Your phone is ok by software but not ok by hardware. I see no reason why to refuse it..
It don't matter, I have sent one of my phones back rooted and unlocked before 2 times for hardware problems,..
when I was on sprint rooted, unlocked, they run the RUU to make sure its not software related, then they repair what needs to be repaired.
I called them back to say why did you upgrade my hboot, they said "they put it back to manufactor default stock rom, sprint, tmobile, att, they run the RUU first on any phone.
I would run an RUU they will charge you if its unlocked as it breaks their warranty. MAKE SURE ITS LOCKED AND STOCK in uk.
Any EU RUU should do the trick ! If it was originally carrier branded and you cannot find RUU for that carrier, Just change CID to HTC__001 and run an unbranded EU RUU.
Relocking the bootloader is a must! It takes 10 seconds so dont take no risks !
Hey guys I was wondering if any one can help me here I have an issue and its bothering me like hell
So I bought my new AT&T one x and there was an update available (sense 5 update) and when I downloaded I pressed on update now and the phone turned off and just in the middle of the update , the installation shows an error triangle with exclamation mark and the phone restarted and nothing happened !
I need help updating it and without rooting my phone ...
thanks
I don't think there's an official sense 5 update from AT&T yet? What is your current firmware?
There is no Sense 5 update for at&t yet. Was the phone used? Does it respond at all when you try to power it on now?

So it sounds like you tried updating, it failed, and then you just rebooted back into android. I had this problem a while back. You can update via RUU, though it'll wipe your phone. Are you rooted? Also, there's no official Sense 5 for AT&T One X.
No my phone is not and was not rooted .. i bought newly yesterday
To be honest i dont know if its at&t but it is the one xl , the dual core one , unlocked (unlocked for any gsm network)
I really need help..
And if there is no official sense 5 then why do i get an update available when i scan ?? And it says sense 5 in the update info..
You don't know what carrier you're on? There is an update for sense 5 but not for AT&T. Anyways just fyi, but sorry don't know how to fix your issue.
How can you not know which carrier you're with? Before you think about taking an OTA we need to see your bootloader details first. To get to the bootloader turn off your phone, once it's completely off hold the volume down button and then the power button (so you're holding them together), after a few seconds let go of power but keep holding volume down until it reaches the white screen with text. This is your bootloader, please post the first five lines.

Oh , haha , sorry for the mistake.. i thought the dual core one x is nessesarly at&t...
My phone is unlocked but still did not get a sim card yet .. although it will be from pelephone, im from Israel .
Ps: my phone is from hong kong china , i bought it on ebay
And I do not want to root if there is an update , since there is i just need help installing it..
Do I need a working , carrier to install updates?

I already did check every single detail the moment I got my phone !
I even called my friend to come over to compare his ONE x with mine and no difference at all ! maybe the only difference is that my phone is faster XD , yet I am assuming it wont update because I have no sim card yet (no carrier)...

If you want help, you need to do a better job of reading replies and answering the questions that were already asked of you. We need more info before we can help. As timmaaa asked on a previous reply, we need hboot details.

*** LOCKED ***
EVITA PVT SHIP S-OFF RL
CID-11111111 (8 1'S i GUESS)

So I got my sim card and I checked for updates and installed it , and did the same problem , got stuck with triangle and exclamation mark in it (in red color) and restarted after a minute or some thing and nothing changed ...
It isn't working because your CID was changed to SuperCID (11111111) by the previous owner of the phone. You need to change it back to the original CID fit the update to work. Is it definitely the at&t model? If so it should have the at&t logo at the top of the screen instead of the HTC logo.

Well... I bought the htc one xl from ebay , the dual core... It is unlocked and now my carrier is celcum since i put the celcum sim in my one xl... I am from Israel .. though the device i bought was brand new according to the seller... On top there is htc logo not at&t since its unlocked..
Sorry man, but your phone is pre-owned. If you really want the official update you need to change the CID to the original CID, the problem is you don't know what the original CID is. I'd contact the seller and firstly complain, and ask for a partial refund.

Ok I sent my seller a message of complain and he better answer me soon ! yet the device feels brand new ... even if it was pre owned I can accept it since I bought it for cheap money .. I get what I pay for .. any wayz I asked him for an original CID and when he gives it to me will it take me a long term process to change my CID back to the original ??
and thanks a lot for your help I appreciate it !!
The process to change the CID back is pretty easy, it's one fastboot command. Luckily the phone is s-off so you can change the CID as many times as you wish to. You'll need adb/fastboot installed on your pc, as well as HTC drivers.
The other option is to unlock the bootloader at htcdev, install a custom recovery (TWRP), and install a custom Sense 5 ROM (or any ROM for that matter). We have them in our development section and they range from completely stock to seriously tweaked, either way it's the same experience as you'd have by taking the official update.

There isn't really any way to tell once the CID has been changed. You should be able to use any CID as long as you use the corresponding RUU to go with it.

I mean is there certain number of CIDs that I can try out and see which is original or its all random numbers and come with random phones ?
in that case I will try to push my seller to spell it out , otherwise I will have to root my phone ..
Hello,
I got an HTC One Mini that I root´ed a long time ago. But I got some cracks on the "cassy" and I need to send it in to the service shop.
And I think that maybe they phone needs to be on stock if I would like to get this on warranty.
But how do I recovery this phone to stock? Have open the bootloader and rooted it.
The phone is not locked to any operators.
Any help helps
There is a link to the RUU bouncing around. It's AT&T I think. There aren't any network and country specific RUU's around and there probably won't be any either. I have tried it yet but if you do use the RUU from here I think you need to be s-off also. So even when you do restore with the RUU, you might end up with AT&T branding, and your boot loader will show s-off. On top of that by unlocking your boot loader your iemi has been recorded as unlocked now. So it's down to your phone provider and HTC to make the decision to take your phone back. Let's hope they're having a good day and take it back seeing as it's a physical fault and not the software. Just be aware.
