Who got the same problem? I already swapped 3 times for a new HTC Desire S in the store. Today I got the 4th one. But still the same annoying problem. I can see that the screen doesn't perfectly fit on the unibody. I can also see the backlight shine through the border of the screen (at 3 spots) - so called light leak. The seller said that it's because of the unibody and the screen is pasted above the body (he suggested another phone because all the unibodies will have the same problem, but I like to stick with the Desire S).
I think I have to live with it, because all the 4 phones got the same fault.
Maybe you all should check the screen closely (the whole border).
If someone knows a solution, please let me know. I will wait a little bit, maybe I will put a bit of kit in the gaps...
Greetings,
Faraaz

I got the grey version. Maybe a bad shipment to the Netherlands. I have read on a german forum, that people have the same problem...

I have the black version, had the grey one and there had the issue with the screen... i think the grey ones are made bad
Yeah could be. I also wanted the black version, but it wasn't available in the shops I went. I will ask if they can order a black one. I have 30 days return policy.

I have the black version and it has a small gap on the top of the screen...
So it has nothing to do with the color lol.
Nothing too obvious though....
my gray DS is okay, only little problem is with back cover...
xD well, so there are some good and some bad no matter color
I have sent an e-mail to HTC with the so called light leaked problem. I'm curious what the respond will be.

I've a black one and it has minimal gaps, such that I can see a tiny orange LED light leakage from the top of the screen edge and at the bottom right hand side I can see slight light leakage from the hard button backlights.
But these are only visible in a dark room after careful angling and rotating of the device...So ultimately, doesn't effect the operation of the phone, so doesn't bother me.
Black one here and never noticed anything wrong with the screen fit/build.
Is it just an aesthetic problem or does this cause issues with the phone operation?

Looking at it, I kinda see what you mean, but it doesn't bother me all that much. A thin black edge around the actual display on all sides, and if you tilt the phone you can sometimes see the light escaping from the soft buttons' backlights.
Doesn't bother me at all thankfully.
My girlfriend's wildfire S's screen mismatch however... that winds me up just being in the same ROOM as the damn thing.

Got a reply today. It is in dutch, but in short:
"HTC is not familiar with the issue. You got to send the phone for repair and then we will look at it".
I also put links of xda forum, android hilfe and google (search: light leak htc) in my message. But HTC pretends that they know nothing. It's ashame. No more HTC for me. The 4th HTC Desire S with problems is not right. It's not a low budget phone...

I hate it
i dont know if im going to change again for a desire s or to change brand
Mine is black, my wife's is blue... both of them have perfectly fitted screens! Sounds like the store you're buying from is trying to shift dodgy stock!

This unfortunately is a common problem but not that severe, it effects devices sold in many countries, although after your experience with that one shop I'd follow advice given and would try an alternative shop or try to possibly buy online.

I did this, got it back after 10 days. They hadn't done squat, it still leaks exactly the same as before.
And for the record, it's a black one.
I've had 3 Desire S's, all black. One of them was fine, the other has a slight leak. My current one is a little worse. Also noticed that the screen isn't aligned properly. Sending it back to the seller for a replacement soon. I think it's just a hit or miss thing.
I noticed that i have some dead pixels... and when i say some.. i mean LOTS !!!!!! i took an app called "Dead Pixels" and on black screen... my screen is full of little white dots.. should i go to replace my phone ??
Are you sure it's not dust ? Dead pixels don't light up at all, they are black.
I have my Desire exchanged at warranty because I got dust under the screen.

Desire S only comes with AMOLED? I thought dead pixles only appear with SLCD
Could be stuck pixels, dead pixels are black.
Also the desire s has a S-LCD screen not a AMOLED screen.
Why not upload a picture?
Sent from my Desire S using XDA Premium App
i can't upload a picture cause the dots are very small... just 2 of them are bigger... the thing is that they are white on black screen and on white screen they kinda disturb the white... i tried that app with pixel fix.. and they are still there
maybe i should go at my provider with the phone and they should change it :|
hmm, i got a scratchy line too that shines in RED when the background is white...... I always thought those were dead pixels...
I also have couple of pixels that shines light blue when the screen is black, didn't know about them until I tried "Dead Pixels" app, it really doesn't bother me.
It dust guys, not dead or stuck pixels. I've exchanged mine once.
Sensation has the same problem due to unibody chasis design. I know it's stupid but what can we do...
I feel like the Desire S is the first phone I've had that doesn't have dead pixels.

So.. Can some1 download the app "Dead Pixel Test" and in a dark room put the black screen and when u have the display straight to your eyes.. do you see tiny tiny white dots and many of them ?? i wanna know if i should go back to orange and send it to service
Hey guys, I just received a replacement One X for some other issues I was having, and I noticed the new one looks quite red compared to the older one.
Now, I noticed the same issue when I first got the older One X (compared it to a GS2 and it looked very red), but it seems to have gone away.
So my question is, have you guys noticed red tint when you first got the phone that eventually went away, or did it stay the same? I'm kind of worried because the red looks really bad.
No red tint here.

You sure your eyes aren't playing tricks on you due to your GS2 having a ridiculous blue push?
Yeah... the GSII is very blue/green intensive, not so much red. You probably got a cool HOX first, then a warmer one. It's more about your preference, but it's not really an issue.
Yea I know the GS2 looks very blue, but now my older, defective one, has a very very neutral looking display (not quite yellow but not quite blue), which looks best to me. The newer one still looks somewhat red.. hoping it will go away as it 'breaks in'

Pebble blue isn't really blue. The back is blue, but the front is kind of a shade of purple. The home button is the worst, it's a deep purple. It's three different shades of color! >.<
Honestly, the Pebble Blue SGS3 is virtually indistinguishable from black, unless one gives it a close look.

this+1 In most angles when you look at it it is black.......only when you angle it so light is reflecting off the face do you see the blue, and the colors are not all crazy purple and weird like people say.......it looks very high end and professional sitting on the meeting table while the others with their huge thick camoflage and neon Otterbox iPhones look like childrens phones in comparison
Too late for me, I got a white 16GB one for free from Verizon. ( they messed up the Razr with the ICS update. It broke flash player and more)
This will be cool for fan's of black and I would likely want black, but I kind of like to have white just one time at lest.
Buy All type of Androide Mobile and Tablets in Wholesale price.
thanks for info
Thank you for your sharing.
fuark! would trade my white 16gb for a black one!
Wish they came out with all the colors up front I wanted the red one too bad its just for att

Not me, this is my first white device and I freaking love it.
LOL, after looking at the white G3's that all the girls I work with are using I'm awful glad I held out & waited for the blue..........
Well, having seen the pictures of the black model and the blue mode in person there is definitely distinguishable difference in color. The black S3's color is dark and rich while the pebble blue looks more purple which is why I opted for the white S3. I was hoping a black model would have been released first.

Hello everyone.
Has anyone who owns an HTC U11 noticed a blue dot on the screen when displaying dark images or black background? Please see the attached images and let me know if your device suffers from the same symptom. In order to check it fully, just download an app called "Black Screen" and run it. It will show a black screen, which if your screen is affected, it will show that blue dot.
I have emailed HTC UK and i am still waiting for a response. It's a shame to see this on such an expensive device, especially from HTC.
Hey there,
My bf recently gotten his HTC U11plus also faced the same thing, can I check if you gotten any response from HTC on this?
Thanks in advance!
Hi. I ended up sending the phone to HTC under warranty and got the screen replaced. No more blue dot!
Thanks!
Hey okie noted!! Thanks a lot for ur reply I will get my bf to go to HTC as well!
Maybe a dead or stucked pixel
