What band is the Infuse suppose to run on. one of my family members has an Infuse as well as myself and they are on 850. Mine has stayed on 1900 since I got it. why is this?
funny, I'm on the 2100 utms and getting the fastest downloads, 8.4 down 1.6 up, inspire only got 3.8 down and 1.3 up
Do you live in the same city? Cities seem to vary in their spectrum deployments with some being 850, some being 1900, and some being 2100.
Where do you check this?
At&t is in the process of shutting down its 1900 mhz band. I wouldn't worry.

Your phone chooses between 850 and 1900 depending on signal strength. You're supposed to have and use both.
As the previous post stated, there are both 1900 and 850 3G carriers in a lot of areas. This doesn't mean you'll always be on 850mhz, you'll sit on one or the other at any given time.

Hi All,
I recently bought a HTC-Sensation 4G from T-Mobile Store in US.
I also purchased an unlock code in the internet.
Getting to Mexico I started the phone and the voice portion worked great...
BUt Data only hooks up at 2G speed, I have a 3G with unlimited data plan...
I have a friend who has an HTC-INSPIRE and his does hookup at HSPA/HSPA+ (3G).
I was told buy a compnay in Mexico that sell a version of the sensation 3G, which they say does have 850 MHZ radio, that T-Mobile Sensations does not have the 850MHZ Band required...
But in various sights I have seen the spec and it says I qoute "Bands 850, 900, 1800, 1900, 2100, 1700"
I have checd the settings menu etc.. and have not found anywhere to change the setting... can someone help?
Thanks,
Peter Fraga

Sorry, but the US T-Mobile Sensation does not have the 3G 850 frequency. You can't change it. It does support 2G 850, which may be part of the confusion in the frequency listings you've seen. About your only option is to sell it and get the Mexico compatible model.
Your only way arround it is to sell it and get the sensation from bell canada.

Buyer beware.
Lesson one: Every modern phone out there now has quad-band GSM, and will list "850, 900, 1800, 1900" in its frequency list. You know they're talking about GSM (2G) when you see that string of four numbers, because 1800 is a 2G-only band which has never been used for 3G.
Lesson two: If a phone has 850 MHz 3G, you will see the number 850 repeated twice in its band list.
For example:
GSM 850/900/1800/1900 UMTS 850/1900 <--- Yes, buy this phone, because you can see 850 repeated twice.
GSM 850/900/1800/1900 UMTS 900/2100 <--- No, do not buy this phone, because 850 is listed only once and it's under GSM.
Lesson three: If the only band info you can find is 850/900/1800/1900, then the seller is a lazy douchebag who can't even bother to give you the 3G information you need to know.
I know this has been covered a million times but saying data will only be Edge/2g when doing this. I was looking at the GSM Unlocked Nexus and the specs are almost identical with the the one exception. Has anyone tired the MT4GS on ATT and confirmed it not working 3g+ Data??
Tech Specs For Galaxy Nexus GSM/HSPA+
NETWORK
GSM/EDGE/GPRS (850, 900, 1800, 1900 MHz)
3G (850, 1700, 1900, 2100 MHz)
HSPA+ 21
T-Mobile myTouch 4G Slide
2G Network GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900
3G Network HSDPA 1900 / 2100 / 1700
850 MHz is the missing 3G MHz, is that what ATT is using for 3G in the US because this shows using both 850 and 1900
Frequencies used on the AT&T Network
Frequency Protocol Class
850 MHz GSM/GPRS/EDGE 2G
1900 MHz GSM/GPRS/EDGE 2G
850 MHz UMTS/HSPA 3G
1900 MHz UMTS/HSPA 3G
700 MHz LTE 4G
If so is there any way I can find out what my area is MHz wise.
Thanks,
Randy
I'd say no either way. I've never seen a Tmobile phone compatible with AT&T 3G bands
I read on Phandroid that the unlocked Nexus did fine on HSPA+.
Hastily spouted for your befuddlement
The Galaxy Nexus they sell in the play store says its compatable with att and tmo and I checked the specs and MHz wise there the same except the 850MHz. Further checking I found a freq. map and it looks like in my area of TN its 1900MHz 3g for att. It was a semi educated guess on it working. Guess either need to find a friend that uses att or get a prepaid sim for a month.
The unlocked GNex GSM phone is "Pentaband", which means it can use the HSPA+ frequencies on AT&T, T-Mobile, and nearly every other GSM provider in the world. There are only a few phones with this capability.
Well it appears Samsung and Nokia are using the Pentaband theory. That must have been why I was reading of people getting the Note working on ATT.
Thanks

One good development is that T-Mobile is busy refarming some of their spectrum and that is giving people moving from AT&T that previously would only get EDGE data speeds access to HSPA+ now. For instance, AT&T iPhones can now get HSPA+ high speed data on T-Mobile in Atlanta and a few other metro areas due to the refarming. T-Mobile will be doing this in most areas in the coming year as part of their spectrum moving to accommodate LTE and make their service more usable to a larger number of devices.

You will only get edge on AT&T. Same with any T-Mobile phone.

Have you ran a speed test on it?
I've seen that a few samsungs and european HTCs can do this through service mode, but is there any way to force the Sensation 4G to 850mhz? according to HTC, the modem in the phone does support AT&T frequencies and the carrier with the best connection only supports 850mhz in my country, and i reeeally don't want to buy a new phone.
i know it's a longshot, but it's worth trying.
Be careful, you don't want to ruin your device. Watch for overheating. Watch for force closes. Any signs And go back to normal. Be very cautious overclocking that much

Its not overclocking, its trying to get one of the cellphone frequencies.

i'm not talking about overclocking, it's the data modem, to put it simply, i need to be on AT&T frequencies but my phone is T-Mobile, and i've seen people change it according to their region. is it possible on the Sensation?
Well for starters the only way you would be able to operate on that frequency one your device has to be carrier free meaning unlocked from all gsm carrier's and this will allow your device to operate on that frequency meaning all you would have to do is swap sim cards if your device is carrier free and then you be able to put in AT&T sim card and reboot however you can't do this unless you are carrier free

The Sensation supports 850mhz for gsm. It does not support 850mhz or 1900mhz hspa (at least the us version does not support 1900 hspa, having aws instead).
So if you are using an att sim and want 850mhz, you would have to switch it to gsm only (although it'd only work with gsm anyway since att uses 850/1900 for hspa iirc, or maybe just 1900?).
Even then, it'd choose between 850 and 1900 depending on signal / area, etc.

meaning my sensation is confined to EDGE speeds on said networks??
Compatible networks GSM/GPRS/EDGE
850 900 1800 1900 MHz
UMTS/HSPA
850 1900 2100 or 900 1700 2100 MHz
HSDPA 14.4 Mbps
HSUPA 5.76 Mbps
tmo version supports 900/1700/2100.
looks like the other version not available in america supports 850/1900/2100 for umts.
not sure if there's any difference in hardware or if it's defined in software (not a part that's included in ruu's).

Its a difference in hardware. The Canadian Bell version supports 850/1900 (AT&T Frequencies) You can use the T Mobile version but you will be limited to edge/2G only.
hi i read here in a post that mytouch 4 slide is a 3g in 1900 1700 2100, but according to gsmarena it comes only with 3g 1700 2100, as some tmobile units, my questions are:
does anybody knows the real configuration (only 1700 and 2100, or not)?
is there any radio that comes with 3g 1900mhz, even if its not from mytouch 4g slide, maybe other cause i think that the hardware will work in 1900 as 3g instead of only edge like in 850mhz?
is there any secret code to activate 3g band options?
thank you very much indeed
I would trust the gsm arena spec sheet, but haven't confirmed the bands myself. And not you cannot just add bands, they are interdependent of the radio in that sense, you can not add or remove them
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda premium
To make it easier instead of using the Freqs (Because they overlap with other bands) here are the Bands that the mT4GS uses: Band 1 and Band 4.
Your confusion comes from T-Mobile refarming the 1900 MHz for 3G. This is the one at&t also uses. It is Band 2.
The mT4GS will not work on Band 2 in 3G only 2G. The hardware was made for Bands 1 and 4.
Use this chart it should clear up the confusion:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/UMTS_frequency_bands
Does the relay 4G use the 900 and the 2100 mhz bands ?
Some sites day it does, other say it doesn't.

if you're asking if it works for hspa outside of US yes, it does. apparently wcdma is 2100mhz everywhere but in the US
I'm just wondering if 900 Mhz does also work (the phone has it?)
