Auto software update - HTC Desire S

Hi. Do you know how to disable the auto software update (it shows the list of applications which have the updates at the market)? My problem is that it starts each time when I turn on GPRS, thus, vasting the trafic.

Hello,
When you are in Androïd Market, go to settings.
You have a section called "Notifications" in french (I don't know the right english translation ...), and you have the drop down list to chose if you want to be informed of updates.

Disable autocheck for updates for weather?

I am not always connected to the internet with my HTC. Every time i hit the weather tab by accident the HTC manages to really annoy me! It just have to give me like 20 windows with the following text: There is a plroblem connectin to the GPRS service in your registered home network. Every time i hit OK it comes back. My question is how to disable the autocheck for updates! Somebody else have this issue too?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=419735
Not sure if maybe my settings are different than the European version, but here's what I have. Go to the Settings tab, and instead of "Communications" like that other thread talked about, there's an option right below it saying "Data: Download Weather". When I click on that it gives me 2 check boxes: Download weather automatically, and download weather when roaming. If I keep both unchecked, it never checks for weather until I manually go into "update" in the weather tab.
Thanks you both! It works. After I disabled the autoupdate, I saw there was actually the same option in the wheater tab... Can't beleive I haven't thought about that :' )!

Where is option "Allow mock locations"? :(

Ok,
just got my first ever Z5 in (it is my second Android phone - I did not like Android too much after having Galaxy S3 for few months).
Now.. I am moving from Windows Phone/Windows 10 mobile - not because I want to but because I have to .
For work purposes I need an app that is only for iOS and Android for now.
Now.... I live in Poland and Cortana is not officially available here.
However making it work in Poland is easy on Windows.
I use it quite a lot (got it on my Galaxy Tab S8.4 - no problems here?!?!?!) and want to have it on my Z5.
With Galaxy Tab all I had to do to get it was activation of VPN connection (to UK or USA), clear data from Google Store... - that is it. I was in different Google Play region.
In my Z5 this does not work, even though I do not have sim card in (still waiting for nano sim from my network).
I have enabled developer mode to mark option - "Allow mock locations", but to my surprise they are nowhere to be seen (did not have to do it on Galaxy Tab).
Instead I got "Select mock location app" but all I can choose is "com.sonymobile.mirrorlink.s...." the rest of the name is not visible
What do I do???
Under "Developer Options" / "Select mock location app"
You first need to enable "Developer Options" (you'll find, it's easy and it takes 5 seconds), then you'll need a mock location app. That one seems good: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.incorporateapps.fakegps.fre&hl=en
It still does not work.
App downloaded, location set, it is working in the background, even UK VPN is on - nothing.
Google Play still show non UK location (after clearing data) and getting link to GP from search says Cortana is not compatible with my devices.
I have a sony xperia z3 mini and I have the same problem. I can not find the option "allow mock locations" and any mock location app works

WebOS on LG Smart TVs: Possible to switch region and download out-of-market apps?

I'm looking into buying one of the LG OLED TVs but am not familiar with the WebOS app platform LG uses.
Is it possible to manually switch between country settings to install apps not available on a specific market? Can you somehow combine and run apps from different countries at the same time?
For example, is there a way to download Hulu from the US alongside the BBC iPlayer from the UK?
Yeah I want to know as well.
Since I can't watch the world up in 4k since I'm in US
if there is the will.
On an old LG TV I got something like that working.
I used a VPN to change my location. Then went to the TV settings ( somewhere like about tv or setup ) and have to change the location there. Then I could download and play stuffs out of region. When I changed back those apps didn't work or were gone. But switching back ( out of region ) the apps of that region showed back up.

Not possible on newer ones. I tried using VPN on router level so all my devices including the LG TV were showing the US as location (ip-score.com) including the LG TV Browser, however I couldn't install HULU, VUDU, etc. Restriction on my TV is actually the market it's made for, in this case UK and EU.
When I change location to SPAIN or some other country (no VPN needed) i get some extra apps, but originally I wanted HULU. Never succeeded.

Download AnyRemote app on your smart phone - Make sure your phone has IR Blaster function on it.
Select your LG TV remote and jump to EzAdjust - Service Menu will appear on your TV after you enter the Password: 0143
Then change the Area Code to 1793 for USA
Exit EzAdjust
Change Location to USA on the LG TV Settings Menu and the TV will Reboot
If you open the LG TV Content App, you will see the USA Apps for downloading Hulu & other required apps.
This will also have apps previously downloading running and working in addition to the new downloaded.
If you see that the Voice Accessibility has activated itself upon setting the Location as USA, please repeat the same steps above to re-set the Area Code back to the same old one, once you have finished downloading all the apps from the current (new) setting.
Please let me know if this helped
do you know what is the code for south korea for 2018 models?
Hi there, will you happen to have the region code setting for Thailand and Singapore too?

The above, with modifications, sort of works. It may not be a permanent solution. Here's what I did with my UK LG TV running Web OS 4.
1) The EZAdjust passcode is 0413, not 0143.
2) Take a note of your home region code. To change to the US, I changed the area code to 1843. You should see the region change to "US".
3) This is important - after changing the area code, open the LG app content store and accept the policy agreements.
4) Then change the Location from the LG Settings to the US. Deselect Automatic selection and manually select the US. This will bring up a dialogue box about needing to change the policy agreements and restart the TV by choosing "Yes". Go ahead and choose "Yes". Hopefully the location will switch to the US without restarting the TV. The reason this matters is that if the TV restarts, the Location reverts to "Others", which makes the content store a region-neutral store that does not have the US apps. Step 3, where you open the content store before changing the location, appears to prevent the TV from restarting. If the TV restarts anyway, open the content store again, then change the location to the US. Hopefully this won't result in a restart.
5) Now go back to the content store. When the store loads, you should have access to the US apps. You may get a "No content" message. Just hit ok and open the store again.
6) Do NOT change the region back to your home region using EZAdjust. Leave it on the US.
The problem with retaining permanent access to the US apps is that restarting the TV makes the location revert to "Others". Trying to access a US app after this happens will result in a message along the lines of "this app is no longer available from the service provider", and the TV will automatically delete the app. Perhaps ensuring that the Quick Startup option is on will help, as this puts the TV in standby mode when you turn it off. If the TV does restart and the location changes, you'll need to repeat steps 3) - 5). It may not be possible to prevent a restart at some point, unless you never turn the TV off.
Also bear in mind that even if you've installed a US app, you'll still need a DNS/VPN to actually use a streaming video service.
Anyone know if google assistant / alexa is an app that can be sideloaded into the TV.
I have the 43uk6200PCA which, in the US, has these apps out of the box?
Based on the online specs WebOS is 4.0 and has the same quad core processor.

Just signed up to say thanks for the detail walkthrough @Rooksx! It was spot on for me. I have a Japanese bought Oled C7p. Unfortunately, even in stand by mode, once I turn the tv off and on again, it deletes the US Vudu and Hulu apps which sucks. You have anymore luck?
Interestingly, all though the tv deletes many of the apps I download from other country stores, it does seem to keep a few on there. Even after turning the tv off and on at the wall, my Japanese lg still keeps BBC IPlayer, us sling tv and Australia’s Stan apps. Wonder why that is? Not complaining though.
Thanks again for the great walkthrough dude. Appreciated.

Glad to hear it's kinda worked. Have you definitely turned on Quick Startup? This seems to be the key for me as for a week now, my TV location has remained the US even after turning the TV off and on. Maybe check if there are any other options that could be more thoroughly shutting your TV's functions down.
No idea why some apps are retained. I was expecting BBC iPlayer to be automatically deleted when I changed location to the US but it still works fine. It does beg the question though of whether the app will update while my location is the US.
Just switched my OLED C7 TV to USA from UK and I cant get rid of the voice assistant (narrator) thing. I have to revert back to UK for it to go away but then the US apps stop working after a bit. Can anyone tell me if you have experienced it and if so if there is a way to tweak it? I really want to be able to use the hulu app.
Has anyone been able to successfully change to US, keep the apps running and not face the narrator issue?
I tried and i always get the narrator. I have a 75SK8000PTA WebOs 4.10.
Any reply highly appreciated.
I changed from tv menu content from lg store to UK, installed rakuten and YouTube Kids ( not aviable for my country), reverted back to others and app are still there after restart. Lg oled55b8.

Thanks, but I checked for that a million times, that option just wasn't there in C7 when set to USA. :/
I have a clear question if somebody could kindly answer;
Is it possible to change the Area Code to USA and edit the options so to set Broadcast country to another (e.g. Australia) and Services country to USA?
Could this be achieved via the continent index value?
Thank you,
John
Anyone?
This is an important step as it will allow to use your original country for broadcast services and hence you will get your DTV channels and then have the country of choice (USA) for the content services.
I tried with EZ_ADJ menu to change the continent item but couldn't edit the entry.
Could this be an In-Start menu item edit?
Thank you,
John
Corrupted OS due to Change in region
I happened to have switched my TV from UAE to UK then to USA. This seems to have made my location-> lg Services Country stuck on loading and thus nothing else seems to work on the TV is there a way to fix this. Does anyone have a firmware file they can share to reset this tv because even resetting tv to initial settings does not work. The IR blaster is unresponsive and thus cant set this manually. Any advice
Good afternoon,
Making change to the EEUU, could you install alexa in a Oled65C8-pla and switch back to europe (spain) being able to control the TV with alexa?
In Europe Oled65C8 does not have alexa but in the EEUU it does have...

Cannot activate share my location on Google maps -Location history setting is missing

Hi
My device is running the latest firmware (132), needless to say it's a Chinese version.
When I try to share my location on Google Maps, I get the following error: "We couldn't turn on Location History for [email protected]. To turn on Location History go to Location settings". However, when I click on "Open Location Settings", the Location History setting DOESN'T even EXIST so I cannot toggle it ON.
Any idea how to fix this issue? I tried almost everything except factory setting which I don't believe would help.
Thanks
David
Hi David,
I agree with your request. I had also opened a topic about it because I can not activate the Google Maps history.
I tried to restore the Honor Note 10, to install Google services (Google Services, Google Framework) but I was not able to enable the history anyway.
Someone says that it is the Chinese ROM that does not allow it to do so, another user reports that the chronology works for him https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=77741213&postcount=32

Recently downgraded from Android 12 to 11 now having to force update

So after upgrading to Android 12 I was having issues with a few apps I need daily that would constantly crash, after contacting the developers to see if they had a plan to update and getting no reply I decided to downgrade back to Android 11.
My issue now is that i disabled auto updates in developer mode but it still asked me for an update a few minutes ago and it says I can only postpone it 2 times? And now it's saying it will automatically update tomorrow morning.
Is there a work around to this? I was thinking of maybe rooting my phone but found out if I do Knox secure fold wouldn't work anymore after doing that and that's an app I need.
I haven't used Samsung devices for a good while, but I believe that you can disable automatic updates through developer options. I don't think it stops the notifications, though - if your device is able to connect to the Internet and sees an available update, it will notify you.

There might be an option in settings, I believe Settings > Software Update > disable Download Update Automatically and Scheduled Software Update.
disabled auto updates
just use
ADBAppControl-1.7.3
and delete, software update
