Where is option "Allow mock locations"? :( - Xperia Z5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Ok,
just got my first ever Z5 in (it is my second Android phone - I did not like Android too much after having Galaxy S3 for few months).
Now.. I am moving from Windows Phone/Windows 10 mobile - not because I want to but because I have to .
For work purposes I need an app that is only for iOS and Android for now.
Now.... I live in Poland and Cortana is not officially available here.
However making it work in Poland is easy on Windows.
I use it quite a lot (got it on my Galaxy Tab S8.4 - no problems here?!?!?!) and want to have it on my Z5.
With Galaxy Tab all I had to do to get it was activation of VPN connection (to UK or USA), clear data from Google Store... - that is it. I was in different Google Play region.
In my Z5 this does not work, even though I do not have sim card in (still waiting for nano sim from my network).
I have enabled developer mode to mark option - "Allow mock locations", but to my surprise they are nowhere to be seen (did not have to do it on Galaxy Tab).
Instead I got "Select mock location app" but all I can choose is "com.sonymobile.mirrorlink.s...." the rest of the name is not visible
What do I do???

Under "Developer Options" / "Select mock location app"
You first need to enable "Developer Options" (you'll find, it's easy and it takes 5 seconds), then you'll need a mock location app. That one seems good: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.incorporateapps.fakegps.fre&hl=en

It still does not work.
App downloaded, location set, it is working in the background, even UK VPN is on - nothing.
Google Play still show non UK location (after clearing data) and getting link to GP from search says Cortana is not compatible with my devices.

I have a sony xperia z3 mini and I have the same problem. I can not find the option "allow mock locations" and any mock location app works

Set location manually without Google location services?

Hi @ all,
I'm interested in getting an Android phone next year. I've already tested some and the OS is really great, but there are still some questions open for me.
One is: Is it possible to set my location in Android manually, that means without the Google location service?
Reason is that I do not want to send my location data to Google (why should they get a moving profile of me?) - I don't agree with such spy practices...
Please do not discuss about my opinion about this, I simply want to have an answer to my question - possible yes or no, and if yes: how can it be done?
Thanks
Zap
Hey,
Im using a Desire using RCMixHD v12 and there are options under Settings>Location. There, you can turn off using GPS and turn off using Wireless networks (Wi-Fi and mobile networks). Im not too sure if there are any others but that should suffice for you I would assume?
Also, with most applications you can set a specific location rather than using "Current Location"

This is unfortunately not exactly what I was thinking about. Let me describe what I mean:
I.e. look at a HTC Desire or a Wildfire with a Standard ROM (2.1/2.2) - when you set up the device it is asking you "Do you want to activate the "my location" service?" and as description it shows "Allow the device to send your location data to Google, without this service your location cannot be displayed." or somehow similar.
What I do not like is that my location is sent to Google, because I do not know which data is sent along with this - i.e. together with IMEI and phone number they could get a moving profile of the user.
When you leave this deactivated, your device is i. e. not able to show the location you are situated at under the Sense flip clock and you cannot force it to show the location because it always asks again if you want to activate that stupid Google location service.
Under Sense for Windows Mobile (I'm using a HTC Topaz actually) you can set your location manually (via the weather application and the clock settings), even if the lovation service is switched off. The device then shows weather and time of the manually set location in the sense clock, but doesn't send it to the big G.
This is what I want to know, I hope the description was clearly enough...
Sorry for the bad English, I'm not a native speaker...

[SOLVED][GUIDE] Samsung B7320 Omnia Pro - FAST GPS - Google Maps OPTIMIZED settings -

I have been using this phone over a year now, and I have re flashed it at least 10 times, every time to get a taste of a new rom for this phone(currently running 6.5.3), although this phone is cool, but gets sluggish, some time, though I managed to tweak it to work fast, which I will be discussing in later threads, in this thread I am going to answer a simple problem, where the users are unable to use GPS with Google maps to get exact pin-point directions. I found a flaw in the settings, and this generated either "GPS signal too weak" or did not get the right lock. After this setting, you will gain a lock on the satellites almost instantaneously, when you're under the open sky.
SO HERE IS THE TWEAK:
START GOOGLE MAPS APPLICATION.
GO TO MENU (RIGHT SOFT KEY)
ENTER SETTINGS
SELECT "GPS SETTINGS..."
NOW HERE BY DEFAULT IT SAYS "MANAGED BY WINDOWS" CHANGE THIS TO "SET MANUALLY"
SET COM PORT TO "COM3:" AND BAUD RATE TO "9600"
SELECT OKAY, CLICK ON "USE GPS" (SO THAT THE TICK BECOMES GREEN.)
RESTART GOOGLE MAPS, ENJOY.
Google knows everything even on the roads, even in cities like New Delhi, which are densely populated, there was ever this incidence that this device and this awesome technology failed me, it is great to have such tool in your pocket.
PM me for any other queries for this phone.
Cheers
can install any other os on it ?

Location & security settings / My Location

Hi all,
On my phone, under Settings -> Location & security settings, I have these two:
Use Wireless networks
(See location in applications (such as Maps) using wireless networks
Use GPS satellites
(Locate to street-level (bla bla...)
When I try to enable any of the above, I get a Location consent message, asking me to Agree/Disagree on Google 's location service to collect anonymous location data.
If I Disagree (which is a natural response to any such privacy invading options), then I cannot enable locating method on this Android phone (mine is Sony Xperia Sola)!
My question is, is that same for any Android phone? Or is this only Sony specific.
Is it possible to remove this behavior?
I think its a total nonsense of how this is implemented.
And I think none of this nonsense should be even allowed to run on a Linux-enabled hardware ...
no. that's on all Androids not just just Sony.

PlayStation Mobile app

Hi, I've been able to successfully install the Psm apk and the app works well, I've installed a game but when I launch it itsays that is not possible to start it, it says that I must set date and time to automatic on tablet and it redirects me to date/time settings of the note. Now on note settings we cant set date/time to auto, so the game cannot start.
Does anyone have tried this ?
Somebody had started a thread on how to install the app a few days ago, but it was deleted.
As me and another pointed out (after installing it), the clock can't be set to automatic, thus it's competely useless. MAYBE the 3G model has that option, but I somehow doubt it.
But why an app/game would need the clock to be set to auto? first time I see it.
Btw till now on psm there aren't interesting apps
You can use automatic date and time over 3G, it uses the time the network provider in your area does.
Ok so gt-n8010 no 3g no automatic time

Do you have a link to the app?
here you are

Confirmed working on Galaxy note 10.1 3g version (n8000)...
Hope they get some better games and apps otherwise, though it's awesome to show off, this is really no better than the games I can get from the app store.... Use less bandwidth too as there are periodical checks for licence validation while playing, heaven forbid if you want to play and don't have any signal or wifi as it will shut down...

[Q] KatKiss 4.4.2 trouble verifying location

Hi,
i`m using latest KatKiss on my tf101 and i love it , so thanks to all you Dev`s for your outstanding work !
I run into 1 problem tho when trying to use the app ; Mlb com at Bat.
When trying to watch a stream or video i get error mess. : At Bat is having trouble verifying your location.
All location services are switched on , Also in appops everything looks normal (switched on).
Had the problem on #22 and now on #23 it still not working :crying:
Am i missing anything ?
Thanks for your time.
Turn off "Mock Locations"
I had the same problem with CyanogenMod 4.4.2 on a Nook HD+.
Google (a couple of hits) said you must turn off "Allow mock locations" in Settings>Developer Options, which I couldn't find.
Google then said "in Settings, go to About Tablet (or About This Device or whatever) and tap on "Build Number" repeatedly." After about 10 touches, "Developer Options" was enabled (it showed up in the Settings left hand column), and I could turn off "Allow mock locations". At Bat began working.
Damn, it's so obvious. Why didn't I think of that?
thnx , i thought i was missing something . :good:
