[Q] AT&T Warranty - Captivate General

Hey, I have a quick question about exchanging phones...My touch screen hasn't been working too well lately, there's a section of the screen near the bottom that goes across the whole screen horizontally that doesn't register my touch...it's the line with the zxcvbnm, keys. When I try to swipe, it jumps from the asdfgjkl; straight down to the one with the space bar everytime I try to go down. I'm planning on sending it back and getting a replacement. I put firefly on it, so I'm going to flash it back to 2.1...but the phone came to me with 2.2 on it. Can I just leave it on 2.1 and send it in, or should I try and update it to 2.2 just to be safe?
Thanks in advance for your time!

Flash it back to 2.2

Weird screen issue with my Fuze..

Ok, so I've had my Fuze like 4 or 5 months now and have had no problems until a day or two ago. I try to do anything, my screen does not work properly. I touch somewhere and it doesn't register it 95% of the time. I looked at the screen and there seems to be a little liquid under there but I don't know how it got there, I put a screen protector on it the whole time I've had it and it just appeared out of nowhere and it's never had any kind of liquid spilt on it or anything. I try to click on the text box for SMS in touchflo 2.1 and it won't go in there and it starts moving the text messages up and down and opening task manager randomly and whenever I open the start menu it goes right into moving the items around. I have tried reflashing but have not yet tried to go back to stock. I'm going to try that and if it doesn't work I'm takin it in to AT&T to see if they can either give me a new one or fix it.
I have had the same problem with my screen on Touch Pro.
I had to get the phone repaired under warranty. I think HTC replaced the screen.
Search the forums, quite a few people have had this problem.
Has it been exposed to heat?
Seeing as your a fellow texan, have you left it in your car or under direct sunlight for a prolonged period?
I'd look up an At&t Device Support center and take it to them, they should change the device on the spot if there's no physical damage and its still under warranty.
Make sure you revert to the Stock/Shipped ROM and SPL (i wouldn't worry too much about the SPL though if you can't get it, i've turned in 2 devices with a hardSPL and nothing ever happened, but its better to be safe then sorry right?)
best of luck

[Q] i'm root, taking my phone to sprint for warrenty? help

i'm root, taking my phone back to sprint for warrenty? i'm taking the phone back to sprint because when i first brought my phone the screen response so well and no problem with my phone at all but after the 30 trail, i update throw the air than that i started to have issues with my evo screen not responding, sometime when i charge the phone and i touch my screen and click on something, nothing response so i have to press the power button and turn the screen off and repress the power button and try to touch my screen again to see if it responding, some time i have to do that three time to get my evo to response or work. My htc evo screen is out of control it just do things on it own without me touching on it, this happen whenever it wanted to. So i decide to root my phone to see if it will fix the problem, i try all the custom rom, nothing work for me and my htc evo, i still get screen problem for not responding, the problem is i don't have insurance on the phone, the only thing i can do is go to sprint and get my warrenty done and talk to the tech there, if everything goes well i have to pay a fee of $30 for an exchange new evo, can anyone help me or link me to get my root phone back to stock? sorry my writing isn't good

Screen Fail?

Dont get me wrong, i love the HTC Sensation, especially seeing as i came from a nokia N97 mini... (never again). But the HTC's screen some times just will not work for me!
The issue comes now and again when i try to scroll or press anything, only the very bottom of the screen and very top of the screen will work. The whole Middle of the screen if you like, becomes totally unresponsive. If I turn the phone off and on it works again, or if i wait 10 minutes or so it will also work.
Just wondering if any 1 else has ran into this problem or if i should just send it back in the hope of getting a better one?
Thanks
definitely not normal...I'd take it back mate :S
take it back
Back it bro as quick as possible, and ask for a new one.
Haha will do, just sent them a message, so hopefully get a new one ASAP
Thanks guys
Haywire digitizer! Abort! Abort!

Lets hope this works!

My replacement Sensation just arrived (after dust under the screen, random freezes, and constant screenshots), and I finished loading up all my old apps and emails and such. I want to make sure that none of these problems crop up again so I have done the following. If anyone can provide additional advice that would be great.
1) The replacement came with 2.3.3. I am going to leave it 'as is' until a new update is released that fixes all the problems introduced in 2.3.4.
2) I put a thin strip of clear tape along both edges of the phone to prevent dust from getting in the cracks and under the screen. I then used an exacto blade and trimmed off the excess so that the back cover fits perfectly over the tape ribbon. I then used a hairdryer in an attempt to heat the tape up so that it acts like shrinkwrap against the edge of the phone (no idea if this will help, but I wanted to try!)
3) I made sure to only reload the apps I thought were necessary, not just those that "I thought were cool" and downloaded and used once. This should give me more available memory and hopefully keep this phone working properly.
My plan is to keep it like this for about a month. If after that time everything is working well (and no dust!) I will consider rooting it. My concern with rooting it before then is I wont be able to return it if all these issue crop up again.
Thoughts? Comments? I am open to any other suggestions. Thanks!

CM7 wont help with the dust issue, and if I have gone S-OFF and need to return the phone that is problematic. Again, assuming the dust issue doesnt come back I plan on flashing a new ROM but I want to make sure this phone isnt faulty first.
takes 2 mins to restore and put the orginal ruu or a nandroid backup back on the phone run the fastboot oem write security flag 3 command to get s-on..... bobs ya uncle.. Mines back with HTC for the third time.. one melt down. powerbutton issue that they didnt fix so its back again... I have putting it back to stock down to a T..
FYI all my hard work had no impact at all. I just noticed dust under the screen in the same place as my old unit. This will be the second Sensation I send back to HTC.....

[Q] Strange Problem

so ive had my evo shift for awhile and no problems with it.. well last night when i went to pull out my keyboard to reply to a text mesage my touch screen stopped working.. and i do mean all the screen including the home, menu, back, and search buttons.. so i pulled the battery off and was able to get the buttons working, but everytime i pull the keyboard out it does the same thing as before. so i thought it might have been the rom so i reflashed miui and still the have the same problme. i went ahead and flashed shiftdeck and still same problem. now if i dont open up the keyboard im able to use the phone as normal, but really annoying which is why i opted for the shift due to the keyboard.. has anyone experienced this or can point me in the right direction?

Is it completley turning off? Black screen?
If it is there have been a couple other threads about this.
We believe it is due to wearing on the flex cable (which happens in slider phones)
Sprint will replace this free of charge as long as you unroot before you bring it to them.
..
If this is not your issue then idk what to tell you
nope screen does not go black at.. i noticed that if i do pull the keyboard screen doesnt work, if i slide the keyboard and leave it alone for about 5 min or so touch screen will start working.. thats why i figured it would have been an issue with the rom. as for taking it back to sprint i flashed this phone to cricket due to lack of sprint service. i have an evo 3d i recently flashed to cricket but i cant let my shifty die.. lol
Like notso said it's in all likely hood the Flex Cable. If you don't want to take it into Sprint, you can buy the Flex Cable off Ebay. It's about $40 bucks. But I would probably go through the trouble of flashing back to Sprint stock and taking it to them for repair. But that's just me. But if your already on Cricket that means you don't have Sprint TEP. So you might as well fix it yourself.
