[Q] [Devs] What happened to the Sense port? - Captivate General

Hey all,
Seeing that Sense 3.0 got ported to the Incredible got me thinking... what happened to the Sense port for Galaxy S?
(I'm not a dev, just wondering/spiking community interest)

Not going to happen. Or at least I doubt it. It would be cool. I'm running it on my inspire and would love it on my captivate

Why would you want to?
IMHO, it goes like this:
CyanogenMod > Stock Android > TouchWiz > Sense > Moto/Sony/Etc
I'm not counting launchers here, because that's such a simple thing to change, but as far as all the other customizations go, that's how I see it.
CM7 is already being worked on quite fervently, and new Samsung versions keep rolling out, why spend all the time and effort to get one specific version working?

Developers probably realized it was easier to just buy an HTC device with their working GPS and lag-free file system. lol

[Q] What phone is most developed on?

What phone do developers make ROMS and kernels for? I am thinking of selling my Atrix to get the phone that does get most developed on.
I wish I had the correct info for you, but I do know the Evo has tons of development on it. Pretty much anything you can tweak or port over has been done or in progress.

I want to say the Nexus One.
Evo is definitely up there.
Incredible is starting to slow down but still has decent activity
I'm sure there's more similar.
HD2 if you want to go that route, lot of stuff with that going on.
+1 for nexus one (that has sense roms also)
+1 for HD2 that has meebo, wm6.5, wp7, and android 2.1,2.2,2.3 roms)
and in the future i´m sure that the nexus S is going to be the most developed with the touchWiz 4.0 environment available for it (ported from galaxy 2)
The HTC Glacier (Mytouch 4G) has a TON going on in development right now. We just had some of the evo devs jump over, and they already started porting their stuff..
seems like the nexus S is developed for pretty well. I'm on a G2 and there's a moderate amount of roms.
The newer version the better

[Q] Best Gingerbread Sense 2.1 ROM?

Hello i have over a month with my Inspire 4G, and im ready to move, since i did love Root features on my Motorola Milestone and want to try gingerbread.
So my requirements for a ROM are simple:
1. Gingerbread
2. Sense 2.1 (this is my first HTC and i love sense, but dont like the lag that produce sense 3 on the Inspire)
So based on that i have narrow down a few ROM checking over the devs forum,
LeeDrOiD 4G
Android Revolution HD
ClearDroid
Inspired Ace
So what you guys think?, which is the Best Gingerbread, Sense 2.1 ROM?
Im really hoping good opinions since im pretty new with my Inspire and not know much about those ROMs...
Thanks
Everyone's opinions will differ. I am running inspired ace and I think its great. Battery life is good and it runs very smooth. But your best bet is to try each of them for a few days. Make a backup of each one when you switch to the next. Then once you figure out which one you like the best just restore that backup. That's how I did it anyways. Flashing roms is one of my favorite things about being rooted. It's kind of an addiction. So have fun!

There is no best Rom, only best for you and only you can say which one is best for your device. If you would have searched you would know all best told threads are closed in sight.

[POLL] [REQUEST] AOSP ROM / MIUI ROM for our Sensation

Hey guys,
I know that developing is in its early stages (doh, it came out yesterday haha), but I just wanted to let our beloved devs that we really really want to have a rom that is AOSP. Sense is a good eye candy, but I am sure that there are many of us in here that would like to get the maximum out of this beast of ours, and I think that AOSP android would give us all that.
Either that, or MIUI ROM - just something different than the Sense 3.0
I am also including a poll - to see if its just me with the desire of getting a non-sense rom ( and by that I mean AOSP, not just removed htc.sense and adding launcher pro ).
I love CyanogenMod as much as the next guy, but I remember that on my MT4G - the AOSP version used to run even better than the cm7.
I kinda liked Sense once I got it, but now I am getting tired of it - its just too much! I want a plain phone, that works like the hardware was meant to be.
I'm waiting for CM7
+1! would absolutely LOVE to see miui on my sensation!
I'm waiting for any ROM that is AOSP or atleast something different from sense.

MIUI would be wonderful!
I don't get the hype for MIUI. I have only seen it in videos but it looks pretty ugly to me. Why would you want to trade in Android OS for an iPhone wannabe?
I like MIUI because it was simple. I guess the biggest reason would be that it was just different. Another one would be that I liked the way some of their apps worked. Such as Miui music.
Honestly for the sensation I'd like to see all of the above. I get bored a lot and to alleviate that I tend to flash different roms often.
AOSP would be heaven, but I doubt that you'll beat kmobs to the punch.

not CM7 perse, but a good AOSP or AOSP based rom is needed to create MIUI. This is from the MIUI forums regarding a port to the Sensation.
Great...
i want to see miui on my htc sensation...
I'll be waiting...
I voted for CyanogenMod, ASOP and MIUI ;-)
Not big on monogamy at this point, I want all.
Waiting patiently.

Be patient, they're working on it. Kmobs has the basics working but they won't release until it's ready.
I check download.cyanogenmod.com and sensation development like 3 times a day, lol.

I'd love CM7.1 to work on our Sensation.... did try the test rom in the Development forum and apart from not being able to turn on the bluetooth, and losing a few settings like Internet Sharing, it feels pretty complete....

Could be me... Voted for CM7
Former Nexus S user here.
AdamG cooked up some delicious OxygenROM for the NS. Supposedly one of his cohorts is porting Oxygen to the Sensation. Hopefully that makes it here because it was an incredibly fast and lightweight AOSP rom.
oh I can't wait for CM7 on my Sensation.... I like Miui too but not nearly as much as CM7. I really miss RoyalGinger that I had on my MT4G, I almost wish I'd of waited to buy my sensation until CM7 dropped for it.
Stupid request, wait and give devs the time they need for there awesome work for all of us.
By the way, c-mod is much more greater for every device because they're developing than stolen c-mod stuff modded by miui "devs".

I haven't used cyanogenmod since cm5, and want that impressed with features. I'll sure many more have been added since then and hope to see it soon. Some of the plain aosp apps kind of suck vs the manufacture flavor though. hopefully the latest CM builds have many bulls info them. I do prefer vanilla ish (launcherpro) vs manufacture launchers though

MIUI music is the coolest modded music player out there...and MIUI is fun to tinker with and reminds me of iOS...used to be a Dev so it makes it nostalgic..plus you can change so many things without coding or fussing

[Q] Nexus Sense?

So I guess, we dun have Nexus Sense anymore?
well , i suppose we are using most original Android system , that's the point of Nexus series , which means we are having Android sense ,
The thread was deleted due to people demanding updates. I believe appenheimer said he would open a new thread when it was done. It will take time as he no longer has a team.
Sent from the future to put right what once went wrong.
has there been any news on this front?
I would love to see a working Sense ROM on Nexus S, especially since I just saw a thread in the NS4G forums where they have a working ROM just missing Camera, Wifi and GPS.
It would be awesome if someone had the skill to run with that ball and finish off that great idea.

[Q] rom question

Excuse this question if it is in the wrong area.
I recently rooted my phone and am running reverted aosp which i am really enjoying. a few of my co-workers have windows phones. such as the focus. Now i understand that windows os is not open source and most of the roms for the sensation at least are either Sense or Non-sense, are there anything rom-wise in development that mimic windows phones operation? thanks in advance-
Check out Launcher 7 on the market, not rom, but awesome launcher. Identical!
Thanks techno I've actually used that launcher for months at a time but as you know it's merely a launcher and. Doesn't effect apps or anything else at all. Looking for a rom that actually changes most functions to text based like with windows
Sent from my Sensation 4g using XDA App
Sorry man, but they don't have but a few roms like that. There are over 450 android devices. You should install CM7 though, you will get better battery life.
well i like rev.aosp and battery life really isnt a concern. i run cm7 on my nook so i'm familiar with it, was just wondering if i could run a mango mod on my pyramid. guess ill have to just buy one
