droid 2 sbf recovery / unroot - Android Software/Hacking General [Developers Only]

hi everyone, i rooted my droid 2 a couple of months ago. the phone has been freezing up so i am going to take it into verizon but i need to get rid of any evidence that the phone was rooted. i was planning on doing an sbf recovery to "unroot" the phone and go back to stock. i downloaded rsd lite 4.9 and downloaded the 2.3.20 sbf file. how should i go about doing this, do i need to use ubuntu if so how? i have two computers to do this from one with windows xp os and vista os.

Maybe an SBF will fix your problems outright, so you don't have to take it to Verizon.
It's easier to do an SBF in Ubuntu but it's not a necessity.
Make sure that you have the required Motorola drivers installed. After that you need only run RSD Lite, plug your phone in, choose the SBF file, and watch it go.
I would recommend looking up a guide to SBFing for good measure, they're easy to find, and very helpful.

[Q] Will Droid 2 clockworkmod recovery work with Droid 2 Global?

I recently got my droid 2 global rooted with Z4Root and I was wondering what version of clockworkmod recovery to use, if any at all, because I'm looking to install Fission onto my phone but when I use the default android recovery all I get is a screen with a triangle with a ! inside it with an android robot next to it. What is the procedure to get a custom ROM onto this phone?
Search Market for Droid X Bootstrap Recovery cost $2, as D2G is similar in a lot of ways. Another way is to search the forums and it will be free.

P.S.
Thank you button is there for a reason!
No, you need to get the droid 2 bootstrap, i havent heard of anyone using the droid x bootstrap on a d2g, but the droid 2 bootstrapper is the one everyone uses

[Q] What is the Motomizer?

Looking for applications in the appbrain, I found the application Motomizer, and from what little I We understand, is to improve the performance of Motorola phones, someone know her? or they may see the following link and see if we can help our XT720 something?
Greetings!

If the MIUI ROM has taught me anything, it's that this is definitely Korean
I guess i have seen the english version. In bunch of apk. I downloaded over internet. I i get it i will share.
But will it work? 'Cause I really want better performance
I have contacted the developer and he said work in the future in an English version ..... days? months? years? ever? In the pictures you see text in English and Korean.
I personally have used this app. It allowed me to EASILY change my stock clock on my XT720 from a max of 600Mhz to 1000Mhz. It has a bunch of handy stuff included....like one-click download and install of OpenRecovery, a bunch of fonts, changing boot animations, and downloading/installing frameworks. After my wife saw the increase in performance I got, she made me install it on her XT720 as well....I recommend it!

This is exactly what has happened to me. I installed the app and used the one click optimizer, it crashed and boot looped my phone. I no longer have memory card access within android or usb access. The phone restarts itself every couple minutes...How did you fix your boot looped phone?
Thanks
If you don't have memory card access, then you probably can't get into open recovery. Try anyways. Hit power button and hold volume up. If you can get into OR then just reflash your backup. If not, you may have to flash stock sbf, through rsdlite.
Ok thanks, will try and flash stock sbf.
*EDIT* I just tried to flash and it failed at the beginning of the flashing process, telling me "flash process failed 0x7100."
This for the motorio not for Motorola milestone xt720.
If flashing fails you may need reformat sdcard.

THIS CAN DO DAMAGE TO THE MILESTONE XT720 DO NOT INSTALL.

Nice work. Rsdlite sometimes works on Windows 7 and sometimes wont. Mist posters actually have a dedicated machine with XP for Rsdlite, puppy Linux, gparted,...Good luck.

Nonsense. It works fine here on my XT720. I have no problems with it at all.
You are WRONG THIS NOT! FOR ARE MILESTONE XT720.

Be cool dude. Don't react so out of control.
It works fine here. I tried it on both khal MIUI and WanHu. It works fine, nothing wrong with it. A few things don't work as they are for the Motoroi, but the other things do work as that's for the XT720 (the dev of Motomizer told this too).
Too many people are downloading this app and getting bootloop I will try this out on the builds yoou said it work on some people have motorio xt720 and are in this form let me ask does everything work on that app on those builds if so great but if everything doest work you can't say it works okay.

Gingerbread

It's amazing we were supposed to so called have our gingerbread like 2 months ago, has anyone heard anything? Because I am trying hard not to have to root my Infuse, and I don't really have a way to root it either but it is so aggravating being on 2.2 still especially with such a great device.

AT&T never said an exact date officially, unless you go by what some customer service rep said on twitter. They only said it would be this year.

Just root it and flash serendipity or infused, or dlev, or any other gingerbread rom.
It's very simple.

+1 All you need to root is a comp, usb cable and your phone, rooting is quite literally one click (superoneclick)...unless you use HDMI religiously, the roms here are awesome gingerbread goodness even if unofficial.

dude, get the drivers from the samsung site, get heimdall 1.1, get visual c++ redistrobutable package and get the comunity kernel.
extract the kernel .zip and find the zimage
install the drivers
open heimdall
put the zimage in the kernel slot
put the phone in download mode and connect to usb
hit the flash button in heimdall
pretty easy

Just follow the steps

that's all you need to do.
Thank u

To make things easier on yourself, you should really find a comp, google "Superoneclick Infuse" and it should pop up step by step install instructions. (download link included)
Still, with the root/flash options, I too would like the official release from AT&T...the wait is getting too long.
Question -I assume I'll need to reload apps if I flash a ROM, correct?
I'll just leave this here...

Use titanium backup. Get the paid version.

Prior Droid 3 users: Questions

Hello all. My wife is finally leaving Blackberry for Android. Since she is so used to having a physical keyboard, she opted for the Droid 3 as her first foray into Android since it has both touch and the physical keyboard. All I've ever owned are Samsung Android phones so I'm inexperienced with rooting and cwm on these phones. I plan to peruse the Droid 3 section tonight to attempt to get up to speed but was hoping for some quick tips and guides from my friendly Samsung brothers.
Also, is it true that once you root and do cwm and all that that the phone can't be unrooted and returned to stock? Does it permanently void your warranty. Trying to determine if its worth even doing it for this phone since my wife really isn't a power user but if its possible to go back to stock than I will do it.
Just looking for any tips and suggestions/help to get me jumpstarted tomorrow. Thanks much.

I was talking about the charge. To get back to full stock on a moto device, you need rsd lite 5.31 and the appropriate sbf file, all which can be found at the droid 3 forum.
