Hey guys, I'm putting together a website dedicated to mobile wallpapers for various devices that I own.
After searching the internet for a good site, I have yet to find one that meets certain criteria and almost all of them have wallpapers that don't quite live up to expectations:
-them being too big
-them being too small
-them not being quite the right size to accommodate Android's strange "crop" window you receive after selecting a picture you want to use.
I'm aiming to fix that by having wallpapers designed with Android in mind to not only accommodate the crop window, but also allow you to select and use the entire picture.
I'm still in the process of getting everything running smooth, and there's still some performance tweaks, theme settings, and configuration settings that need to be addressed but eventually I'll get there. I also hope to have a mobile version running soon, so that you can access from any Android device.
This site will also allow guests/registered users to upload their own wallpapers and will automatically resize them according to what album you upload them to.
Anyway, check out the sneak peak here: http://www.freeza-inc.com/walls
badass, if these wallpapers in fact look as good on the homescreen as they do on the browser, then you sir, deserve a beer on the house cant wait to get home from the office and test it out.
Wow....they look great!
Very very nice... have the site bookmarked

Good job Freeza!
If you need some hosting, maybe my company can supply or help out.
Great! keep em comin!
just a suggestion, ... add an option to view thumbnails of ALL the wallpapers you uploaded (of a specific resolution), this would let the user access the page and see a huge page with all the wallpaper thumbnails and skim through all of them very fast to see what he likes, instead of going category by category, page by page.
I understand that the page might be huge, and will take a lot of time to load (thumnails could be very small in size however, so it could reduce the load time), but IMO it will be worth it for the user
cheers

Hi all,
The past few weeks I've been working on a new live wallpaper for the Nexus One. Now that it's nearing completion, I figured I'd share it here and gather some feedback. It runs very smoothly for me, and has a ton of options. I put it in the Market a few days ago -- you can find it pretty easily by just searching for "clangen" or using the attached QR code.
Although I created my forum account some time ago, I apparently haven't been active enough and am permitted from adding URLs to my post -- maybe some friendly mod here can help me out?
At any rate, the screenshots don't really do it justice, so I uploaded a short demo video in ogg/theora format (should play out of the box in FF and Chrome):
http://plasma.clangen.org/images/plasma.ogg
You can also grab the latest build from the website:
http://plasma.clangen.org
If a mod can help me out I'll post some direct links to the latest builds in this thread.
Dudes not kidding, it is fast, very configurable, and most importantly looks pretty badass. Also comes with quite a few presets. Nice work man
This wallpaper kicks so much ass its insane! My favorite wallpaper. Other than the sperm one. XD
Absolutely sweet. Awesome work!
Awesome wallpaper. My screen transitions seem a lot smoother now with this running.
This wallpaper is simply ingenious! No other wallpaper has that much options. And the best thing: favorite settings can be saved!
This is great. It looks fabulous and the saving of effects is a great option to have. Good job man!

LOVE IT!
Awesome job on this one!
I installed it, but it's really hard to see unless you have your screen brightness jacked up, which means it's going to kill your battery even more. Don't think I'll use it day to day.
Great job on it though.
this is finest live wallpaper i have used! YOU ARE THE MAN!
It just keeps FCing for me. I really wanted to try this too...

love the wallpaper, but it really makes the n1's color banding issue jump out at you...
Well Done
Great work man , This is one of the best.
Thanks for all the feedback, it's much appreciated
I just posted a new version (0.9.0) to my website that allows for a much wider selection of colors.

It took this long before someone put out an honest 'first impression'
Personally, the live wallpaper has great potential - but it also is a battery hog. While most wallpapers eat about 2% of power this once takes at least 3%.
nice one !bravo
Now on the Market!
9/13/10 - New update!
The Max version now supports album art! You can choose to skin the cubes with your album art. It will automatically cycle through all of the album art on your SD storage. I'm working on an update to support those of you with internal storage.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7cWGhGnsIJI
market://details?id=com.wallpaper.VRTunnelMax - Full paid version
market://details?id=com.wallpaper.VRTunnelLite - Lite free version
I've removed the apk from here. If you already have one of the test versions installed, please uninstall it and get it from the market. That way you'll be able to get automatic updates.
To Do List
Short term:
Possibly implement some sort of color cycling so that the cubes change colors while it's running.
Long term:
User selectable textures
Pulsing when music is playing
Custom models - imagine instead of simple cubes, it was a bunch of Android robots
Thanks to everyone here for helping out with the testing!
If you can, come join us at the Big Texas Android BBQ
http://bigtxbbq.com/
Instructions:
If you've clicked on the about bar in the settings, then you've already seen these but I should include them here as well.
The tilting motion works best when the phone is in a relatively horizontal position.
Double tap the screen to re-center the tunnel.
Try tapping the cubes multiple times to change their rotation.
After watching the clip.. my mind in a daze haha. It looks reallyy good and i'm gonna try it out right now. How is it on the battery?
LOL, the 3D effect actually looks better in the video than in real life, I think.
As far as battery, I'm sure it takes quite a toll while it's on because the motion sensors are pretty power-hungry but you can turn them off in the settings if you wish.
I know this is the nexus one forum. But just as an FYI it doesn't work on my stock 2.1 telus milestone. All the cubes and the tunnel are white, regardless of the settings selected.
hmm, ok. Is the Milestone is the same as the Motorola Droid? If so, I can think of a few things to try for the next release...
nice testing now on cm6
pretty awesome so far. and pretty good for your first app
Can I test out this lwp?

chopsui, great job! These other posts are too humble. I think this LWP is top notch!
You have managed to get a '3D' style live wallpaper to work! I think the more people that find out about this the more popular you will become. I would pay for this in the market! Watch how many people kang this from you! I look forward to more from you in the future.
Just downloaded and installed. Awesome work!
Very nice! I like it.
Thanks for the comments everyone! I'm working on the Milestone/Droid bug now. I'll let you know when I have a new build.

I've updated the original post for those having issues with the textures.

Okay, I know there are a bajillion wallpaper sets out there, but I thought I'd share mine. If anyone is interested in zip-file downloads rather than browsing through my dropbox, I'll post some zips.
All of these are wallpapers I've come across for my desktop. I tend to lean toward the cleaner, more minimal side when it comes to walls, but there's a little variety in there.
I'm aware there are a few duplicates, I haven't had the time to go through them all. I plan on adding more as I have the time.
I'll also note that none of these came from Zedge, Flikie, or any other wallpaper app. Some of these may be found on there, I don't know because I don't use them. Point is, I resized them myself, so it won't be redundant if you use those apps.
Only a few of these wallpapers were made by me, the vast majority were made by other, more talented, individuals.
Anyway, enjoy!
Wallpapers HERE!
Okay, I finally reuploaded the zips through megaupload. I split it into two sets instead of one... I can't remember the logic behind doing so at the moment, but it is what it is.
Set #1: 302.51mb --> Walls 001-500
Set #2: 245.71mb --> Walls 501- 868
DISCLAIMER: You won't find any (half naked chicks, automobiles, evil clowns, or whatever you guys are into. Sorry. I'm not a girly girl, so no pink or unicorns or care bears, but it's all fairly gender-inspecific.
04/30/2011: Added 153 to the dropbox gallery. A lot of landscape/nature walls with other stuff mixed in.
10/31/2011: I've been working on these slowly and adding them to Photobucket. I have around 4000 total (eek!) and I don't think Dropbox will allow for the amount of space I'd need to upload them all. Photobucket = unlimited storage for free, so I went with that. I only have a portion of them uploaded over there, and I separated them into subfolders based on my tastes. However, what I like may differ from what you like, so glance at all of them. I'll try to add tags so they can be browsed that way (I've tagged a couple, but not enough to matter), but my free time is limited. Many of those on Photobucket aren't in the zips or on Dropbox, so check out the new ones here.
Awesome.... Thank you for this. You can never have too many options for walls

I'm not a "bro", I'm a girl/woman (ughhh, "woman" makes me feel so old), but no worries. I get it all the time online. Luckily, there's no confusion in real life.
Annnnd, I should have known I couldn't upload a 450mb file to xda, so I'm uploading the zip to my dropbox. Once it finishes syncing/uploading, I'll post the link here. I feel like there's a way to get the link to download the entire gallery folder as a zip, but for the life of me I cannot find it.
My computer says 1 hour left on the upload. What is up with my connection? Oh well, as soon as I get the link I'll post it here.
Oooh. I'm sorry xD

Just downloaded the zip.
Oh an FYI to anyone else -- my browser couldn't tell the size of the download. Just be forewarned, it's big (I mean of course it's big, it's 700+ wallpapers!).
Total download was 447.28 MB.
Thanks a bunch! It's hard sometimes finding good wallpapers. So many of them are full of artifacts or are just too small. You'd be surprised how many people seem to think a 480x800 phone needs a 480x800 image as wallpaper.

Oops, I totally forgot to warn about the size. I'll add it to the original post in a minute. Yeah, I noticed when looking for wallpapers for my phone that some of them were wayyy too small, like 2/3 the size or less, so I stopped looking and just used my desktop collection. I resized them for more space on my sd card, but also for the convenience of everyone else. I like sharing

"Flipboard is a digital magazine-like application that combines all of your Facebook, Twitter, website news, articles, photos and more into one live feed for simple (and gorgeous) browsing from one dedicated place. It used to be an iPad exclusive up until the other day when Flipboard launched a version for the iPhone too and we thought we’d take it for a spin and do a little impromptu review of it.... "

It looks nice and pretty, but I think I prefer Pulse, or even Currents because you can see more stories at a glance.
Pulse you can see the most stories at a glance, but not much info on each to know whether it would be of interest.
Currents you can see more info in each stories preview, but fewer stories at a glance.
With Flipboard you have to flip through every single story individually.
They only put 1 story per page, and 66% of the page is taken up with a picture. If they put more text on each page, it might give you a better idea of whether you want to go into the article.
It does have some magazines not on Pulse or Currents though, so I'll probably keep it and use it for them.

After about a day's use, i love it. I'm used to Pulse so it was weird to only see one article per page, but after "ignoring" the "Pulse way of doing things", it's freaking awesome. Love it.
Btw, make sure to make an account so you can add many many more sources

After using all day, the only issue is even after selecting the uk as my area its still chucking up loads of US news, which to be fair I couldn't care a less about (no offence meant), but suppose I'm learning something. All in all i love it and I actually think the facebook integration is pretty good.
Edit: just discovered the mute option to mute certain authors and also a news (uk edition)
Edit 2: I do seem to get force closes on some news items from particular authors when trying to view a story. Telegraph uk is one
It's a little annoying that it doesn't save your place if you hit the back button.
A few times I've hit back by mistake and then when you go back into a magazine you have to scroll all the way to where you were before.
Having more pictures is nice for some types of magazines, but for news and tech articles I'd rather just have more info and less gloss.

such a nice apps.. thank you sir!
I been playing with it for about 30 minutes now. I couldn't leave it once I started exploring. This is exactly what I needed as social media ,news and rss are all in one place in a comfortable and conventional style. I am convinced to uninstall pulse, feedly, google reader and all those news apps. Thank you so much for making this possible. Is this a Samsung app originally?

Hello, I wanted to introduce PhotoDream.
It´s my first android development, and I wanted you to try and please tell me your opinion.
PhotoDream link
USA Flag effect
Draws
Love effect
It works from Froyo.
It has real time photo effects, it allows you to capture the desired photo effect in real time as you take the picture.
The available photo effects range from the typical ( black and white, negative, gray, colored, sketch, cartoon) to the not so typical such as stars, hearts, circles and flags!!!
Yes it allows you to mix your photo with your flag creating a national flag effect for your photos.
You can share your photos using facebook, gmail, ...
Sorry for my english.
Thanks !!
Help to download
It is one week from uploading and i can´t pass from 200 downloads.
It is hard.
It took me three months to develop, and I cannot afford paid advertise,
can anyone tell me if I am doing something wrong?
Thanks.
The image effects dont look good im sorry but they dont.
Maybe you should try to make something that's a little easier...
Graphics applicationa are really hard to make as ypu can see.

Thanks for your hard work, looks great..
Thaks everyone,
good and bad comments about the app.
I started working on it cause I did not know anything about Java, but I am a c++ developer experienced in working with image buffers.
Otherwise, the work i did was related to get some image features like pattern-recognition and so on, but was not oriented to user so my main failure is design.
I was born for code, maybe I don´t have designer point of view.
I will continue improving filters and i will try to do it better.
Any help about new filters you would like to appear would be brilliant.
What about real time?
Does it work well in your phones?
I have a 2 years Samsung galaxy mini with froyo and it works ok,
I tested it in almost all emulator´s configurations and was more slowly due to my machine is not as fast as expected.
Is real time effect slow or not?
Thanks
I like it! Its fun to play around with R thanks!
