Hey everyone. this is my first post here.(hope I'm not in the wrong section)
I have a samsung galaxy 3(or i5800). I bought it just a couple of days ago.
Everything works fine. Just one problem, it has android 2.1 inside. It's a lil bit slow for my preferences.
I really want to update it to 2.2 but I am facing a big wall ahead of me.
I read some threads here saying that I should use a software called Odin. I really dont know how to do that. Its not that i am a noob but it just doesnt recognize my phone and some errors in chinese appear
Can someone help me please?!?!?!?!?!?!

ok, so everyone probably knows that the samsung galaxy ace is a new phone. and yes i have one. it's been a month with me now and it works fine until now. I rooted it, and it worked great. I even installed setcpu and adjusted the mhz. so, i searched youtube for a custom kernel for it and the video says to backup your data on rom manager. so I did, then it froze on me and turn black and it doesn't turn on anymore. removed the battery already to no avail. please. any reply would help. I'm not that rich to buy a new one.

too bad man, i have experienced that same scenario with my galaxy which is 2weeks old and did the same thing you did back up my rom using rom manager and then just this afternoon my phone didnt respond anymore so i rushed to the store where i bought it then i told the same old make your own story telling then thats it they will be replacing a new galaxy after 3 days.. i think technicians wont know if its bricked by you installing or using some third party unless there is a physical damage on the phone like short circuits or the like... hope you solve your probs..
oh so there's really no fix for this huh?
i must say yes none as of the moment. its like this, our galaxy ace is just months old so lets not be so hasty when it comes to third party software that may cause instability to our phone or brick our phone... ill just wait for the devs to have an eye to our galaxy ace and make a new advancement to our unit.
Hi there guys im completely new to this, as only the other day my father told me about rooting my phone and upgrading the software as only now the software on my phone has started to fail me and I think its time for a change.
On the phone its model number is the Samsung Galaxy S GT-I9003 so I'm not entirely sure which phone to choose on the Samsung Android devices on the forums, also I was told there was a noob guide on here on how to root the phone and then being able to upgrade it.
I apologize if I have posted in the wrong area, but any help would be extremely grateful, as my phone keeps switching itself off everything keeps crashing and basically its just acting like a piece of crap.
Thanks again

Hi all, proper random but i went out about a month ago now, got in a proper mess and randomly woke up with someones phone in my pocket, its a samsung galaxy s i9000, wasnt sure whether it was a mates or not so announced it on my facebook seeing if they would come forward, but no one has, so i must have found it, im not the type to steel, promise! i have an iphone 4 so ive taken it me being a complete w*nker and taking it from someone as an option. i was thinking may as well try and put it to use rather than just chucking it, its on a 3 network, but its not got sim lock, its phone locked, just asking for a password to get into it, ive spent an hour or so trying to find out if theres a way but havent yet come across a way, if there is one. Help would be appreciated
I have the same phone dude its simple, search threw here (in the i9000 section ,first you'll need to root it with Odin, after you have root go to market and download Samsung galaxy unlock and follow the steps and your done.
*very important once your rooted make a copy of your efs folder(contains your imei number)it can/will change depending on if you flash roms.*
Good luck

Hi,
I hope I am in the right forum here. If not pardon me please since this is my first time on this site.
Here is the issue at hand...,
I just got my girlfriend the Samsung Galaxy Ace S5830 as a Christmas present.
I set it up for her since it was her first smartphone and it's all fine and good now.
However, there is a little problem.
I can't find a working Adobe Flash player on "Google Play" since it seems that Adobe has pulled the plug on that darn thing. Beats the heck out of me as to why they would do this but from what I could read on the internet it happened around August 2012 and now this thing isn't any longer supported for the Ace and some other devices.
Now the question is..., how do I get this downloaded and working on the Ace without having to do the whole circus with changing to custom ROM etc...? I would like to keep the original OS due to possible issues with the seller and the warranty (there is already one problem which is a faulty proximity sensor that actually has to be fixed under that warranty).
I am looking for a simple and clean install here. I don't have a problem with the security of the older Flash Player if anybody should ever wonder. I'll take this as a calculated risk (it's a girl's phone so I don't think it will ever wander to the darker corners of the internet, let alone that she knows how to get there).
So if there is anybody out there with a good idea - no matter how small or big - shoot right from the hip.
Thanks in advance for your time and kind help...!
PS. I stumbled upon this website which lists a solution for this issue but am uncomfortable with downloading stuff like this directly from some page I don't know nothing about nor what the apk consists of. Might be serious though but have no clue. Anybody with some input on this one?

Hello all,
I've been reading around this forum and found several guides for installing Cyanogen, but they seem to be made for you to install it on a previous installation, which is not my case, and I also have several questions.
First of all I have Samsung Galaxy SII (GT i9100)... i bouht it on Amazon, so I guess it's american. It still has the software it came from, I have never changed it. I've had several issues with this phone since it was new, like out of the blue I turn it on and it gets on a forever loop with the samsung logo. So everytime this hapens I have to wipe data and factory reset from the android system recovery.
Also about a year ago I got what I believe was a virus it took me a while to get rid of, but although I supposedly did, I feel like some issues are still around.
My question basically, what's the newest android version I could install in my phone? and how could I do it? what's a good guide for it or something?
Thank you so much for your help.
