evo shift.. no data plan error - Android Software/Hacking General [Developers Only]

Hey all .. I recently purchased a used evo shift and finally got it flashed and working on my sprint account. I keep getting an error 67 registration failure user name and password may not match.
Now let me tell everyone that I do not currently have a data plan... Only voice and text.
So is this error just from the phone trying to log into the sprint data network which I am not a member of? I assume that is the issue. If not please let me know.
If that is the issue is there a way I can disable the phone from searching for the data network. I have no need to have data as im pretty much surronded by wifi.
thanks

Never mind guys I got it fixed.. All I had to do was turn off the mobile network. LOL
Thanks

hey howed u get the evo to workwithout data. Please tell me how

This happened to me the other day.
Even with my rooted phone, I decided to call Sprint. What they told me to do was update my profile so it could be registered with the network. If it happens again, just do that and you should be fine

you have an evo shift with no data plan? can you say exactly what plan and how you activated the phone? I'm looking to do the same thing.

I would say get a new SIM. There seemed to be a thought floating around the forums that the older SIMs weren't provisioned correctly to accommodate the higher data speeds so they don't know what to do and skitz. First though, I would let it sit for about 5 minutes before trying to do the setup process.
dude hiko i tryed everything n this simcard is new she got it with the mytouch 4g a mnth ago n these phones operate the same as far as the android process im sure rite??? i mean it aint like im sticking it in a gravity lol idk anyways i tryed new roms i waited tryed it on wifi changed my google passworrd ! nada all tmobile says is r engineers have to look at this and push the data thru we will send ur ticket up sorry sir we will contact u in 3 days.......... baaahhhh bull**** idksomething aint rite cuz i can text n call n have 4g signal n they also sd they sent the signal while the sim was out of phone hows that possible
Are you sure you have connection? Have you used the browser on the phone?
If so then,
- Have you used the Google 2-step verification security settings? (Google Authenticator app). If not sure check in your google personal settings.
if not then,
- Open a new google account and try to sign in.
its weird it says 4g can make calls n text n when i do browser it says 1.99 per mb web 2 go so that means i dont have data? idk very frustrating n i tryed a new acct it says cant establish a reliable data connection......getting angry
but can you use the browser without any problem?
to me it looks like the problem is at T-mobiles side.
well it says i can for 199 a mb lol i remember that when u didnt have a data plan i tried facebook on another note n it just hung there didnt load do i have to put my other sim in and factory reset? i tryed that idk cant u have more then 1 acct on a phone anyways? im thinking cuz my old acct still on there it wont let me log back in
sooo i just talked to tmobile n they sd everybody that added data or got a new phone with a data plan within the past few days since the 20th had this issue but they just found out lastnight that it was affecting a bunch of people its called a delayed provision n data isnt pushing thru n there engineers are aware of it and that its not a sim or phone thing n it will be resolved soon.............lol so what do u guys think???
Have you tried it over Wifi?
.....
yes i did n then waited an hour came off wifi n no go
haha i fixed it i went into wireless settings n hit search networks n picked tmobile umts n now i can log into my acct dam im good
Sweet. Good to hear you got this resolved. I was out of ideas after a sim haha. Didn't even think to try the other network.

[Q] LG MS910 ZVD to ZVE update lost data service

First allow me to say that I wish my first post was not a question, but a helpful comment to someone who needs it...yet trouble has found me and I can't seem to figure this out on my own and really need someone who has the skills and experience.
I know the phone is OLD and should be retired as it is nearing the EOL of its' technology, but I just can't afford to spend the money on a new one right now.
History of the phone is:
Bought new in late 2011, carrier Metro PCS, rooted on the second day of ownership.
Rom'd on the third day with GSE, used that for a while then went over to Black Plague.
Used phone this way for the entire time.
Always kept drivers installed on my Windows PC, 7x64.
A little over a week ago I had some driver issue which caused me to re-download the drivers. After I re-installed them I connected the phone and ran the LGMST. It brought me from the ZVD to ZVE without incident.
Phone has not had data service since.
I phoned Metro PCS distributor help line at 800 901 6266 and spoke to someone who tried to help a bit. They did an OTA push then had me try to re-provision the phone with the *228, no go...
I checked through the web for help, reading many posts about APNs, using Any Cut, located my access pin for the service menu. (didn't make any changes for fear of making things worse)
Then I brought the rooted phone into a Metro store I frequent and asked one of the associates who does this stuff on the side to help me out. He spent about fifteen minutes with the phone and told me he couldn't figure out why it wasn't working.
When I got home, I emailed PG about the issue hoping he could offer some advice. He told me to try TOT downgrading. He provided a few links and I set out to DG with TOT.
The LGNPST didn't install. (received error code 2203) tried a couple other downloads of the LGNPST but all fail with the same error. (I am admin, took ownership of files, edited security of folders as described in some forums from Microsoft about the error code and even tried letting windows install with compatibility settings, but darn thing just won't install)
I then figured I'd try un-rooting and a factory reset. t un-rooted fine and reset to stock, but still not an iota of data 4g,3g, or 1g to be found. (everything else works fine)
I then re-rooted the phone and tried L-Drifta's rom for ZVD Number Two.
It installed fine and works good, except for YouTube force closing all the time, but still no data service.
Does anyone have any idea what happened to this phone? If not, then how about someone helping out with how to manually program the radio part of the phone for service.
Thanks to everyone
CDMA Only selected
Update - - -
So I mustered up the nerve to mess with the network settings in the Metro hidden menu and changed it from CDMA & LTE Hybrid mode to CDMA only and have 3G back, but when I change it to LTE or keep it in Hybrid Mode I loose all data service.
I know I shouldn't keep playing around with the settings, but I just can't leave it alone now that I made some progress. It's like a gnat that I gotta keep swatting until it is gone for good.
Anyone have suggestions for getting my 4G service back?
LG MS910 losing 4G and switching to 3G then no data at all!
Device: LG MS910
Carrier: MetroPCS
Issue: No data
I have a cardinal rule with my phone: "Never use WiFi". WiFi networks are bay nature unsecure. I went to Starbucks and decided to connect to WiFi since I only had 1 bar. The area had poor network coverage.
Now my phone starts in 4G, goes to 3G, then no data after that. 5 minutes later the 3G returns. Data speeds are ZERO!
I've been with Metro long enough to know 1xRTT is faster than ZERO data. Did I get an sms trojan? Is MetroPCS messing with the network with no notification to customers?
For data, the LG MS910 has CDMA (1XRTT, EDVO) and LTE (4GLTE) radios. Why is the 3G icon appearing? The LG MS910 on MetroPCS technically isn't capable of T-Mobile's HSPA+ which uses a GSM signal. Regardless if T-Mobile and MetroPCS have merged, T-Mobile is a GSM carrier and therefore MetroPCS customers wouldn't benefit from T-Mobile's HSPA+ network anyway.
Bottom line: Something isn't right. Any ideas?
Anxiously awaiting the bloatwarefree Nexus 5.

AIO Wireless [RESOLVED]

Well my contract ended today, so I decided to jump ship to AIO Wireless... Since T-Mobile is getting rid of their grandfathered plans and making people upgrade, I decided to leave, and join the Pre-Paid community :victory: -- Cant wait until the Nexus 5 drops haha..
I'm SuperCID'd sim unlocked (did it last night), rooted (been rooted for years, the sensation is not my first rodeo), and all that Jazz...
Anyways.. I did everything that I was supposed to get everything activated and working.. typed in the new APN settings and got my data working and all..
My problem is that i do not get connected to 3g or 4g... I called CS and they said that everything looks fine.. (they dunno whats going on).. go figure.
I have 2g. Its pissing me off...
Just wondering if anybody else made the switch and are having/had similar problems??
Thanks
EDIT: Well i called back hoping to get another person to talk to.. and that somebody told me that since my phone is from T-Mobile, I wont be allowed to use their 4g.. --- My question is now this -- Since my phone is unlocked, wouldnt i now be able to use AT&T's network?? Or is the phone itself still required to use TMO's frequency? I'm confused.
EDIT 2: Did more research around xda and found that i could change the modem to att's frequency bands.. I flashed the modems via terminal emulator and even put in canadian radios.. well, both didnt work. when i flashed the modems, they didnt change the bands.. I would need the international sensation that uses att bands for att to work (thats why i flashed the canadian radio just to see if that would work) This is probably why we dont hear anything about our tmo sensations getting used on other carriers because no one has successfully changed the modem.. We cant change the bands that our phone comes with.. Damn.
Well, I guess i have to live with 2g for a week or so until the nexus 5 drops.. Then i can just slap my sim card in there and experience LTE ) -- but in the mean time, ill be using wifi.

[Q] Getting LTE on AT&T w/ Nexus 5

Hello,
I'm coming from a Nexus 4, and have never had an LTE phone on my AT&T account before. I've read that since AT&T doesn't have Nexus 5 in their system, that it will be a hassle for them to activate LTE through the phone. I can't really find any concrete answers or info, so I figured I'd stop by here and see if anyone has any ideas?
Does AT&T have to activate LTE on their end for it to work? Or can I just adjust my APN once I get the phone?
Has anyone had any issues with this at all? How did you get around it?
Thanks in advance!
I would like to know too... Im thinking about switching over my corporate account from VZW to ATT and I ordered a Nexus 5 to try out ATT coverage in my area first. I was going to head into the ATT store tomorrow, now Im worried I won't be able to get it setup (Im not familiar with how ATT works). Do I need to get a IMEI from a phone in the store and give to them? I don't get my N5 until tomorrow night and I was planning on going the store tomorrow morning and getting either Gophone or shared plan SIM setup so I can pop it in when the phone arrives. Will they need an IMEI to even get me an account activated?
If they need an IMEI at activation, would it matter if I didn't have the device in front of me, like if I tell them I ordered a S4 and gave them a IMEI from one? Do I need to find someone on ATT to give me their IMEI and tell them at the store I have it ordered? Sorry if these request are way off based on how it actually works, but I want to be able to test out my N5 tomorrow night! Thanks for any help you can give me..
EDIT: In the ATT world, would It be considered shady for me to tell them all this info? For instance if I told the salesmen this problem and asked if they could use an IMEI off one of their phones?

I'm assuming that this will work similar to how it worked for the N4 and enabling HSPA+ on AT&T.
You will need an LTE plan added to your account. It won't cost more, but the account needs to enable the LTE service. In order to do this, I believe AT&T will need an IMEI. Since the IMEI will not be recognized, then you need to get another AT&T LTE device's IMEI code. Maybe a friend? I know some people would copy it off a demo device in the store.
Good luck.
FWIW: I put my LTE sim in the phone and everything was autoenabled correctly. This was better than with the N4 where it autoenabled wrong, and I had to change the settings.
I'll clarify this, AT&T has different data plans. They have all their data plans for 3g phone (3g data unlimited), and all their 4g data plans. You can not get 4g unless your data plan has been switched to the 4g version. You can keep your unlimited plans with this. Just call and ask them to switch your data plan to the lte version.
Sorry double post

So, to clarify, did you just activate LTE with an N5 coming from an N4 and it went smoothly?

i'm in the same boat, i'll know for sure when i get the n5 tomorrow but from what i've seen AT&T does have to provision your SIM for LTE. My plan is to goto an AT&T store and ask them if they can get my sim sorted; if they screw around or say they "can't" help me then i'll either grab an imei from one of the demo phones or from a buddy and call them and give them that.

This looks to be the thing to do. I just had someone inform me that they brought the phone into AT&T, and the guy punched in the numbers off the sticker on the back, gave him a sim and he was good to go. I'll make sure to come back here and report my own findings first hand since this question seems to be floating around a bit.

Do identical IMEI numbers conflict if its already on the network? Can I use the same identical IMEI from a friends ATT phone or do I need to change some numbers?

I've read imei's are never checked
I already had an LTE Sim. I just used the LTE Sim in my n4.
check out the thread I made for a very simple solution! It'll get LTE working on the N5 through AT&T guaranteed

College Station, November 4, 2013 Verified - LTE addon
I can verify coming from a "Nexus S" BYOD.
I went to an AT&T Store in College Station, TX to get a new microSIM because the Nexus 5 only takes microSIM form factor.
I then got an LTE signal, but no IP address.
Chatted online and they told me to wait 1 hour then reboot the phone. Did so.. same response, gets on the LTE network fast, but nevers gets an IP address.
So I then called 611 on the Nexus 5 and talked to Tech Support, told them:
1. I have never had an LTE phone before and thought I needed LTE service added to my Account Profile.
2. I wanted "No changed to my legacy Unlimited plan"
They told me
1. My "legacy Unlimited plan had just been removed by 'mistake' and would have to be restored by the (backoffice)"
2. They were updating my account to enable LTE service
I then had to reboot the phone, did so and the Internet service came right up.
Now I have to wait up to 72 hours for AT&T backoffice to confirm they have restored my Unlimited plan.
I put a pass-code on my Account, and strenuously stress every time.. DO NOT TOUCH MY UNLIMITED PLAN !!!! -- And they do it any way.
.. exasperated ...
They also do not know what a "Nexus 5" phone is yet.. so I think only the call in Tech Support can interpolate what to do. I think the kee was to keep calling it an "LTE enabled Nexus 4" and then things just "worked".

Freedompop Settings?

I have been working on porting my old evo v 4g to an evo 4g via cdma tools etc. That is done however the problem is that I am not sure if it is working completely because I get 1x service so far and the data profile appears to be partially updated. I was hoping that someone with the freedom phone could help me by posting all of there data profile settings excluding anything personal; Such as the first part of the username or phone number. Please help and thanks.
Come on someone has to have the freedom pone or phone on freedompop. At least post something.
