[Q] Issues with adding Corporate Email - Eee Pad Transformer Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Has anyone got Corporate Email to work besides using Touchdown? I know they have Exchange 2010 and they will not change any policies. Any news if there is a fix in the works? I am thinking that the device doesn’t support password recovery, or security wipe. My original Droid surprisingly works so I know I have the right settings, it just says “The server requires security features that your Android device does not support” on my TF..
According to Touchdown the policies are:
Require Encryption
Allow Simple Password? No
Password/PIN required
Failed Attempts 10
Min. Length 4
Timeout 900 sec.
Expires 90 days
Password recovery
Manual sync when roaming

I'm working with touchdown to try to get some of the emails that have embedded graphics to display file attachments. They seem to be very responsive on the emails.

I had mine connected to an exchange 2010 with the built in mail? Or am I missing something?

I have the same issue as the op. It all come down the your exchange admin, they can either allow android, or block it. Very frustrating but the only waywe will get it legitimately is by asking the admin to reconsider...

[Q] Did VZW cripple stock MAIL app?

To sync with my company's ActiveSync server, I HAVE to check both "Use Secure Connection" and "Accept All SSL Certificates."
However, the latter choice is not appearing in my MAIL setup screen, ONLY the Use Secure Connection checkbox. As such I'm not given access to my work's mail server. I've seen it on almost every Android device... why would it be missing on TBolt?
Sorry... can an admin. please move this to the APPS topic?
Thanks!
I had that same issue and thought it was just me. I'm using Touchdown for now but would love to use the stock exchange one

:\ Once you have root, you could try replacing the mail app from a Sense rom that does have both of these options in the mail app.

Good idea... motivation for me rooting this bad boy.
I think I have only ever seen the "Use Secure Connection" and "Accept All SSL Certificates" options on the stock Android email app. The sense one only has the single checkbox.

Has anyone tried this yet and had any luck?
Thanks!

No VZW had nothing to do with the mail app...
I am a bit confused by this. My exchange server shouldn't work with Android AT ALL... however due to HTC's ... how shall we say... engineering it works perfectly.
Wonder why you have to select all certificates...
How do we get HTML emails to show up on the stock app? All it gives me are text links.

Mine show up as HTML... not sure what is wrong on yours. Both GMail and Exchange are showing up fine.
I guess I just haven't found what I need to change in the setting yet then. I can be slow and special at times.
Ok, after more investigation, I have have realized that my exchange email is on plain text only, but... the option to change it is grayed out and unclickable. What am I doing wrong? I can't change the option from plain text, and I really don't like it.
It is crippled or at least modified
I'm pretty sure MAIL is crippled or at least modified. If you use MAIL to setup IMAP accounts, it will not let you specify an IMAP path prefix, which is a royal pain for me, since I can't view my sent emails without that IMAP path. That was one of the main reasons I jumped from WinMo to Android! Looks like I'll be rooting sooner than I thought (I've loved the Tbolt as-is until now)
On yours, does it have the option where it is suppose to allow you to check between html and plain text, grayed out? My personal email is fine, it's just the exchange email that is giving me fits. I can change the normal account. Oh, and html worked fine on my D2 with exchange.

Set up fine here, both before and after root with the stock mail app that came with the phone. I do have the choice of HTML or Plain Text and neither is grayed out. I have only one choice for security and it says "This server requires an encrypted SSL connection" which is checked. My admin also pushes a security policy requiring a PIN or password after a 15 minute time out.
To get rid of the exchange security, and get both SSL check boxes, I installed this app.:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=775007
It doesn't work with the HTC message widget, but at least it gets you corporate email.
Have you tried telling it proceed? I had the same qualm, and I hit next and it prompted me to accept the certificate even though it was invalid.
Yeah, I have set up the account, and it works fine other than the fact that I can't get HTML emails in anything other than plain text. I go emailapp>menu>more>settings>send/receive>recieve settings and under receive settings the message format is grayed out and unselectable. I know it's not the server, because I had it setup fine on the D2. I have also tried deleting the account and starting over from the beginning, and it still does this. So I don't know what to do to fix it.
Any update on the HTML email issue? I'm rooted, so I can swap the native app with any other other Sense friendly app. It works well in Touchdown, but I prefer to use the native mail app -- it's much cleaner and well integrated. I just REALLY need to see HTML and graphics in my emails.
It used to be fine with my Droid X, so I know that it's not a server policy. It's just broken in the TBolt's native mail app.
thoughts?
I haven't really had the time to investigate further. I've just let it be for now. Semester will be over in two weeks, then I can look more into it.

Server requires unsupported security features

Hi,
I have a xperia play............
Was hoping the 2.3.3 release would have fixed these issues, alas no.
Are there enlightened people out there that know a way for the stock email and calendar apps to sync with exchange servers that insist on password certificates. I work for a blue chip company and these type of certificates are common place.
Basically our exchange servers only will allow sync if I place a secure password on my device i.e. 9 letters long with symbols and numbers. After 9 failed attempts it wil delete all the mails and contacts on the phone. fair enough.
The messge states "Set up could not finish.... Server requires unsupported security features"
Why in the modern world does android not allow this? My IPhone 3gs / Iphone 4 had no issues accepting, neither do Windows based phones.
The only work around is Moxier mail which kills my phones battery within hours.
Please, is there any way around this problem?
Thanks in advance
Neil
I have this same problem!!
Is there a solution to this?

install mutliple email applications

Hi,
Is there any issue about installing different email applications, so that each handle separately the various email accounts ?
To be more specific, I'd like to install a specific email application to handle a Exchange email account -application like Libre Email, which bypasses the pin lock security enforcement . While I would keep standard email application from android ICS to handle my other email accounts. And of course, target is to avoid that my Infinity gets "pin locked" due to the Exchange account.. Or is there a risk that the standard ICS email client detects another email app has an exchange account and would thus enforce the pin lock ?
NB: if any one knows an app which would restrict the pin lock to only when opening the Exchange email account, without forcing me to enter a pin every time I want to access my tablet, I'd be glad..
ricorico94
You can lock specific applications with Asus app that comes preinstalled with Infinity tablet..i don't know what the name of the app is as i don't have a tablet with me right now, but it is there. App locker or something. Does pretty much what you would like...
But if I lock the usual email app, will I be able to still use it ? I mean that my plan would be to used a specific email app for my exchange account but still use the standard email app for my usual accounts.
I think that is true.
Every app has its own settings, don't see a problem here.
I think you can safely use E-mail app that comes with android for one type of account and TouchDown for exchange account..
At least i think that's a way it works. Both have different settings and accounts of course.
Thanks for the clarification.
I found this topics http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1117452 in the samsung threads. Could the patch work on my TF700T (9.4.5.22) ? Or are email.apk different on the various devices ?
Yeah you can. That is a simple android feature they have had since day one.

[Q] Email problems

I have an issue with the standard Samsung email app. I am a teacher and use my Note at school. I have it configured to access the school WiFi and it can access the internet (using Chrome) through the proxy server. However, I can't seem to use the email app. One of the features that I really want to use is to be able to email students in real time records of improvements suggested to their work which I am writing and sketching on the Note, but these emails all seem to fail continually in school only to go as soon as I get home. My ICT Technicians have suggested a different email app rather than the stock Samsung one - any ideas on how to do this?
Are you using a school-provided email account? If so, it's hard to say what the problem might be, not knowing what type of mail system they're using. If they're using an MS ActiveSync Email server, the Samsung email app should support it. Here's a quick how-to guide put out by Samsung. http://www.samsung.com/us/support/supportOwnersHowToGuidePopup.do?howto_guide_seq=7046&prd_ia_cd=N0000003&map_seq=48169
You may also want to check out this more general set of instructions on setting up ActiveSync email on Android. http://www.techrepublic.com/blog/smartphones/set-up-an-exchange-account-on-your-android-phone/1581
Hi there - yes it is school provided email using MS Exchange server. Settngs are OK because it woks perfectly from home. I have access to internet, but email app can't see it. My ICT Technician has a Nexus 4 with vanilla email app and this works OK with the proxy server, so I was thinking some incompatibility between Samsung email and exchange. We have come to the conclusion that we need to try another email app to eliminate things. Not sure how to do it, though, as quite a few threads mention rooting tablet and I'm not keen as it is only 10 days old!
Well, when you are at work and can't send an email have the IT staff see if your note is blocked. This can happen when an IOS or Android device sends too many sync requests within a short period of time. The Exchange will block a device when this happens and wll prevent the device from connecting for a period of time. Another suggestion made by Microsoft is set devices to manual update to alleviate the block issue. Good luck.
I'm pretty sure its not blocked, but I will check. Thanks for the suggestion.

It seems to me that it is just the settings of the smtp server. You could try using the smtp from Gmail, so that you can send from both home and school.

Z3 and Sctivesync with Office 365

Hi all
Has anyone successfully configured their Z3 to use an activesync account with Microsoft's Office 365 Exchange servers? I have done this easily with many other phones but on the Sony I am getting 'Bad User, Passord or Certificate' at all times. I have verified the account is OK by setting it up on a different phone.
TIA
Yes, been using it since day 1. Basically, set username as domain.com\[email protected], server as outlook.office365.com, and check "use secure connection" only, using port 443. Mail app will then prompt you to install exchange services. After that, all will be fine.

Many thanks. It is good to know that someone has this working. I shall try again later today. I would swear I've tried it this way but I've never been prompted to install Exchange Services. Just to be sure, you are doing this from Settings - accounts - Exchange Active sync. Is that correct?
Nope, did it from the e-mail app. If you are doing the settings within the company, everything should be automatic, but I have also successfully setup at home with the above settings. Enjoy
Mine also works. Same settings as post #3. And i set it from settings -> accounts
