Hey all,
Does anyone have a dead HTC Magic out there?
I think HTC designed the Magic, with the intention of using the same boards for a Dream V2. That is, I think that the traces are already on the Magic, and that the IO pads are already there, waiting to be utilized by the Dream's keyboard.
Can anyone open their Magic, to see? Perhaps someone with a dead Magic?
Also, if anyone knows of some very high res pics, of all the boards in the Magic, that might work too..
Even if that was correct, and that the magic had ports which are to be used by a physical keyboard, what would you use them for?
You cant just strap on a keyboard and tape it in place

Sure you could.. why not?
Regardless, I was thinking of something more refined.
Still, that's step 2. Let's concentrate on step 1...

I'll try to find some pictures and help you out that way...

I appreciate it, but unless you have a private stash (or know of one), it might be hard. I Googled around a bit, looking for high res pics of the Magic circuit boards, but didn't find anything.
I did find a website, for $2000, that will sell you an entire disassembly process of the Magic, plus a listing of all components, with high res-pics, etc.
A little out of my price range though.

I've seen a link to the service manual of the Magic which perhaps has the pictures you are looking for somewhere around the forum...

Naw, the pictures are too small. We need _high_ res pics, because we'll be looking for small pads, plus we'll need to see where the traces go, and what chip the traces connect to... and the writing on the chip, to know what it is!
We'll need some good, high res pics of someone disassembling the beast, that didn't reduce them down for a PDF or some such...
I'm hoping someone has already looked inside the dream, just to examine it when they first got it, but I haven't found any good pics from that..
I've found it...http://phandroid.com/htc-magic-manual.pdf
But as you said the damn pictures are too blurry...
The good news is that there surely is someone around with a bricked magic...

COME OUT OF HIDING, MR BRICKED MAGIC MAN! COME BACK FROM MARS!
Mars ain't the kind of place to raise your kids
In fact it's cold as hell
And there's no one there to raise them if you did

It's just my job five days a week
A magic man, a magic man
And I think it's gonna be a long long time...
I have been trying to root and ROM my viewsonic gtab for days now ...... and Im at my limit!!!!!!!!!! there are so many "jack off know it alls" and massive amount of conflicting info / directions from hell... step one create a tablet from dust and sticks then load this thingie from this site not the wrong one because it has a temper and may cause your skull to bust open .....
here is the link I have tried at Last (http://forum.xda-developers.com/printthread.php?t=865245) now Xda has been a big help and I'm sure I am so electronically challenged I can't get the simple things right .... my first problem is I can't get the Clkmod8 to the internal "ROOT" folder it copies fine but will not paste into the Root folder (from computer or internet)......... I will also say one gtablet hacker stated not to put it in the root so I am further confused ......... I had it on a sdcard and the gtab would not load "unload clkmod" would not even get to the boot screen it just started like normal sort of? I have lost all patience and would like to have a massive fit ...... which part would be smashing the hell out of all the tech around me filming it and get it on youtube for money donations to pay one of you (*^&^%^%$#%$#^&*^%$#@@) computer savants to install it ......... PLEASE TELL ME HOW TO DO THIS (*^&%[email protected]#@*&@ing crap) so I can get on with my life. I never give up but my gtab may not survive this ..........??? desperate and frazzled
Time to take a break by the sounds of it!
I think many of of us have been in a similar situation. Best thing would be to start over, spend a couple of days reading and researching when you have the time, and then see if anything clicks into place.
I'm sure somebody here will have the same device and will be able to assist in the meantime. Thanks for the amusing post though. You managed to convey your frustration very well!
so, i got my One S, and i love it. except for one thing. the sim cover didn't come fully off when i got it, and i couldn't figure get it on again when i finally got if off, and now it's a little wobbly. not alot, but i can definitely feel it. sometimes i can click it in a bit. should i try removing it and then put it back on? i'm afraid it will only make the situation worse. thanks in advance. cheers
send it back just in case
I'll bet you can easily get a replacement cover piece either from Tmo or HTC. If it was me, I'd try that first.
It won't break mine was too I got a replacement phone and it was fine.

Hard to explain but I used paper inside to stop this
Sent from my HTC VLE_U using XDA
Mine is loose too but I have it in cover.

Should I exchange my tablet?
When I apply a little pressure to the bottom of the screen (where the charge port is) I can hear a little click noise and see the screen be pressed down.
doesn't bother me one bit. never even notice unless i'm looking for it.

How long have you had your tablet? and did it worsen? I assume not if you never notice it unless you look for it.

This implies it would not become a problem, and I do not think it will if you do not batter your device. Also, for the love of all that is holy, please use a descriptive title for a post, for
1) not that many people like to go "oh, let's see what that blank title question-mark post is about. I loooooove surprises! <giggle>
(costing you possible replies and help) and
2) more people that ACTUALLY know what to reply (in this case, people "suffering" from the same "issue") could have picked up.
Stop me if I'm wrong............
I sense that this is one of those "humor me I'm bored" threads.
Beginning with an ambiguous or vague question then ends up trapping good people who actually want to help someone into an ongoing useless stream of dribble that ends up cascading into a wide river of the inane.
Let's see who will be the first to suggest a search of the forum on the clicking thingy.
Then how will we handle the should I send it back question?
Closed, next time use a better title.
Thanks.
Just wondering if anyone has gotten a small idea of what a loophole could be for the fire tablet? I am going to start searching, but I want to know if anyone has a starting point for me. Otherwise, I will start searching from the ground up.
Thanks,
Winterfoxx
P.S.: I'm new to XDA. If this isn't the right place, let me know.
