CAMERA [5/20 - Update]
much more
*** To fix the camera I installed "GizmoDroid's Modded Camera" using SGSTools***
Battery Life: 99% after 4 hours in standby
I would love help fixing the camera and turning this into a flashable ROM. Additonally, there may be more APKs that can be deleted but it works like this so I don't want to mess with it.
Additionally, if anyone has any of the Galaxy S 4 and 5 specific apps, I would love to see if we could integrate them into this.

Very interesting idea, I can take the cell related stuff out of the notification bar as well. I can help you package it all up later tonight when I get off work. Maybe even get the camera working
That would be great. I will not be home until later tonight, but would love to see how we can package this up and make sure everything works. I also want to run some battery tests to see what the usuable life is like.

Couldn't you just hit the power button and deactivate data mode and then activate airplane mode?
I visit other countries and that what I do with my phone. Pretty much just use Wifi only. It only drops like 10% for the entire day.

The goal was to remove all cellular features including emergency calls so that it would operate purely as a media device. This way I could give it to a child to use as a media player without having to worry about them figuring out how to turn the call features on etc.

Ah, I didn't catch that part. Sounds like a worthwhile endeavor then.
great job and great idea. I'll be watching this thread closely. if it becomes a flashable zip, I can totally see this getting popular as people start upgrading their devices.
Great idea. I wouldn't use it, at least until I get a newer phone, but a great idea.
Or maybe just remove the sim card?
I saw this being discussed in an earlier thread, the problem with taking the sim out is it still allows for 911 calls to be made and with a child having it anything could happen.

Great idea!!!
v.9 beta launched in Development Forum
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=14087277#post14087277
Seems like an interesting idea.
I really like this idea and will likely do this someday.
I wonder if you could just freeze those apps with TiBu... seems like it would work too. That way it is quickly undoable. (is that a real word?) LOL
GPS not working...
Long story short....I now have a work phone and ported my personal cell to Google Voice. I now have a Captivate that I don't have service for. I would love to use it for a PMP and my golf GPS (Using GolfShot). I installed Captivate Touch, Cognition Edition v2.0 - KB1 2.2 by DesignGears from your thread in the development section. I was unable to get GPS to work. So I decided to install Serendipity 6.4 and remove the APK's myself. Still no GPS. Anyone have any thoughts on how to get GPS to work again?

Was taking a look into ZeusDroid, which did work (except for the whole phone issue) and some of the running Milestone versions of sense and seeing about a FrankenDroid.
Smidgen V1-Beta2-Odex And De-Odex
This is the rom for you folks that can't stand twitter, facebook, bloat, etc. etc. etc. Who just want's a fast azz phone that you can load up as you please.
Meet Smidgen. Taken from the stock HTC framework, and chopped up with a hacksaw. It doesn't include hardly anything, but that's the point.
This is the beginnings of an experiment that I have kicked around in my head for a while: To shrink the HTC framework'd stock rom down to minimum without sacrificing any functionality that can be present. Anything I have taken out (besides htc specific widgets) you can get an alternative for in the market that usually uses less resources. Also in the future I will have flashable zips for updates and other things (and for individual social add stuff so you can pick and choose what you want on the phone).
No Social Providers: Twitter, Talk, Facebook, ETc. Etc. etc.
Removed these files:
system/app:
Clicker.apk//odex -
DCS* -
EnhancedGoogleSearchProvider.apk -
Facebook -
GlobalSearch.apk/odex -
Google_Sky_Map1.1.apk -
GSD.odex/apk -

PicoTts.apk/odex -

Talk/TalkProvider.apk

Had to keep gmail because the market won't work without it.
Had to keep talk because of calendar/htc.bgp
Had to keep maps because of other fc's

No bloat (or anything else for that matter)
Throw in your own kernel (doesn't come overclocked)
Odex for speed / De-odex for theme
Based on Cellular South 2.1 RUU
156Mb free on phone after install.

Current Issues:
-After signing into the market you may get a lot of gapps fc messages, however after a good handfull of them, they seem to go away.
-Gmail app does not work. Use an alternative app for gmail for the moment.
-To use the Market: Before opening the first time, go into settings/accounts and sync/set up your gmail account from there. Afterward go into the market. This will be fixed soon.
Other:
To connect as usb-drive/mount sdcard - go into settings, connect to pc, select default connect type to Disk Drive and un-check ask me. If phone is connected at that point, unplug and replug the connector. To use adb again, go back in and set to just charge mode, then unplug the phone and plug it back in.
ToDo:

Man I'm going to try this rom just because of the first 2 pics! Love it!! I do use gtalk from time to time so hopefully you'll release a flashable zip to put that back on.
tried it last night.got alottt of FC's like u said.market doesnt work though.it would just show up as loading all the time n nothing
Oh! Sorry bout that! Because gmail app isnt working (dunno why, I will try to get to the bottom of it though) What you have to do first to use the market is go into settings and then accounts and sync and set up your gmail account there before opening the market. The market is going to give you some fc's here and there while your in it and for a moment after you exit it, but it does work.
I believe once I fix the gmail issue, it will fix the market issue as well.
right on.the rom felt fast btw.liked it.
Well folks I am up early and have a little time before I gotta go to work! Which means I am about to fix this bastard!
*update being loaded right now that does fix 99% of issues (except every once in a blue moon you may get com.htc.bgp fc, but don't know why exactly that is happening)*
Cancelled update for the moment, re-building now. As it seems, unfortunately there are LOTS of things that build on each other (had to put talk back in for gmail to work, had to put maps back in for htclocationservice to work, etc.etc.etc.)
Real pain in the ass man.. BUT it wasn't much and it's mainly just the core gapps files so, I am re-uploading now and you should have no issues with this one (or gapps/com.htc.bgp fcs)
niice.downloading now again.will let u know
so far so goood..couple FC's here n there...which kernels can we use for this Rom?
just flashed darchstars standard uv2 kernel.it booted up so i guess it works.clean rom man.thanks
Grabbed beta 2 today, did wipe(data, cache, davlik) and install. Seems quick. Did still get the bgp force closes (twice so far)
Going back to CM6 for now, but will follow this closely as I liked what I saw so far...
@porkrinds - yeah... Still getting the occasional htc.bgp fc for some reason... It may have something to do with the weather widgets. Wish I could code well, cause if so I would just disconnect a bunch of stuff.
On the kernels, use whatever kernel you want! It shouldn't pose any problems.
Here is a list of known kernels:
vUV2(Honeybun)
[email protected]/brainfuct kernels
Dunno if zen's kernels work or not.
And on the animation boot screen? Hahaha! Yeah it is pretty ugly. It's my first WORKING boot screen though It's easy to change it out though. Just push pretty much any bootanimation.zip to system/media.
I did do a quadrant score on it, and its.. meh. A few ticks higher than Southpaw v.1.5. Definitely not CM6/AOSP by any right but it should stay pretty fast in the long run even with tons of apps installed.

UPDATE :
Here is the package containing all the APK files from the Market (thanks to androidnews.de): DOWNLOAD
source : http://techfrom10.com/2011/04/the-android-test-market/
Where/how did you get this if it isn't on the market?
It's not official - Google accidently activated it on the Galaxy S. Full story is here:
http://techfrom10.com/2011/04/the-android-test-market/
The music app is a lot more polished than the previous leak including proper menus, streaming options and library modes.
If you have the previous leak installed you have to uninstall it to allow upgrading to the new version, but I assure you it is worth it!
New versions of Camera and Gallery3D are also on TechFrom10. They are not installable however I've unzipped the .apks and it should not be impossible to patch with 2.3 compatibility There are lots of new graphics in the .apks, everything looks like Honeycomb - but on mobile phones
So will installing this overwrite the current music app?
I'm running the GB leak (non-rooted) on a Droid 2. If necessary, will I be able to revert back to the stock music app?

I think you have to be rooted in order to over-write the stock apps, but as I my phone is rooted, I don't know for sure. Feel free to give it a go and let us know!
If you do get it installed then it can be uninstalled which will revert you back to the stock music app.

Just put it on sdcard and Installed via root explorer just by clicking and it just installed it as if its a standalone app, doesnt overwrite android music app.
It looks great.. background seems to change to that of the album art.
And the sound is alot better than HTC music or Stock android music
Check out the landscape mode ....
Can i install on my Wildfire or my Nexus S?
I installed it but the interface was pretty laggy on my phone. No lockscreen music controls either, which is a deal breaker for me.
It installed fine, didn't overwrite the stock app, and I was able to uninstall it.
Do you guys think a reboot would have fixed the lagginess? Is there an option I didn't see to turn on lockscreen controls?
It runs fine on my Desire. The only "lag" I found was on the first load when it populated the library.
I don't seem to have any lock-screen controls either, but then that was the case on the previous leak also.
I'm using an Nexus S with latest GRI54 stock rom, and this thing is not exactly flying.. It's loaded all my music though

Confirmed working on wildfire, not much lag too.
Gave it a shot on my fascinate w/2.2
I liked the overall graphical change from the standard, plain music app. I had a few issues (more like annoyances) with it though.
-If I want to go back to my song list after opening the app via widget, i'm used to just pressing the menu button real fast to go to my library. Apparantly that's been done away with, and now you have to press a tiny button at the top-left of the screen to get to it. Not the most convinient or fastest way to do things, especially if you're a righty.
-Switching songs a bit too rapidly may cause it to lag up and force close.
-No longer able to delete music straight from the app.
I'll be messing with this a lot more once I get some sleep...
Atrix 4G 1.57 update.. definitely not optimised but its definitely louder ;D
I see that TechFrom10 has also published their new Market apk... I wonder if it'll get app updates from Google.. If that's the case, perhaps we will soon see updated versions of Gallery3D, Camera and DeskClock that actually installs
I'm not sure I'm gonna try it anyway, I use too many protected apps (that probably will break), so I won't install the new Market any time soon... Waiting for success story from someone else first
I replaced the new market with the current stock one. Works same as before. I can't see any changes. Neither in the look nor technically. ???
The camera works, but only for pictures
New clock and Gallery wont work (
A note to everyone here:
Hey guys, it's Tim Schiesser (the guy with the phone that obtained this app through the test Market)
There are a lot of other apps on this Market in a "beta" stage that I can't install for some reason. If anyone would like to instruct me on how to pull these off the Market that would be great. I can see:
Visual Voicemail (does nothing)
Sound Recorder v103
Google CarHome v1000
Google Gallery 3D v1.1.40682 (not the same as the 10.2 version)
Google Voice v100.4.2.23
Facebook 10.0
Google News and Weather v9.3.3
GTalk 9.5.3 (with permissions for camera)
I'll check here occasionally, but it would be faster to contact me through Tech From 10
And I thought the Market wouldn't do anything. It's also probably only a matter of time before Google pulls my access.
Enjoy the Music Player too, by the way
The camera works on CM7 both recording so does the music app the gallery keeps crashing let's see if we can get it working. I'm so disappointed in Google why are they still not using a full view finder for the camera.

Any questions I am happy to help.

Sound worked in calls but not in music
thanks for posting my rom in xda guys keep up n we will fix bugs soon
help me to fix bluetooth now
Long Reply. Read at your own expense.
So this is what I got after playing with the rom for sometime. Superuser works perfectly for me.I used numerous root apps(link2sd, adfree, titanium backup). It worked perfectly every time. Music does not work even when headphones are attached. I even tried using another app - Musicmatch to play music. I tried installing play store from this thread. It always force closes. The image gallery is really really slow in loading images. So I tried using quickpic. It runs perfectly.Couldn't check much of the browser due to ****ty EDGE but google.com loaded well. Temple Run kept force closing. Maybe I was overreaching on that one. Most of the apps I normally used work: friendcaster, tapatalk, pocket, airdroid all work. Scrolling does not lag at all. Sd-ext does not work. I have a 1 GB ext4 partition which it does not recognize.
TL;DR
If wifi could be fixed, this would be a pretty usable rom.
Okay. I just found out that accelerometer also does not work.
Just one more thing. In calls incoming sound is good. But outgoing sound is bad.

Thank you!
Yes I agree, wifi is the most important thing that needs to be fixed. Also if you want to post some screenshots you can.
and for anyone else who knows more about rom cooking/porting than I do, can this be ported to the HTC explorer?

Screens
Here are some screenshots I took:
Is this an aosp kernel?
Your Links aren't showing up correctly; you should do something like this:
Sorry. I corrected it. And no I do not think this is an AOSP kernel but then again, I don't know much. You should ask sakindia123. He'll know.

So flashing worked. Can access Play Store now. If anyone wants the link to the gapps zip, here it is. use the cm7 ones.

I tried quadrant. It kept Force Closing. Gonna try antutu now.

So here is the antutu score. Really slow 3D. Gave only about 3-4 fps.
And in other news, quadrant's still force closing.
is true. the 3d is bad. so what are the plans for now?
Well, I don't know. I was just testing for the fun of it. Do you have any ideas how to fix the bugs?
no no. i am only here to try it and test.
Looks interesting. (Posting so I can find the thread easier in future)
Hardware acceleration ain't working, and this is running on a stock htc kernel
Btw,check lib/egl,in the rom, desire's egl libraries are being used instead of pico's.
Check lib/hw also,u will find a lot of faults with the port(to fix wifi,i m sure u know what to do)

Nike+ Running was released for Android last night in the Play Store.
DISCLAIMER: I AM NOT THE DEVELOPER OF THIS APP. IM PURELY PUTTING THIS HERE FOR INFORMATION. ANY BUG REPORTS SHOULD BE SUBMITTED DIRECTLY TO THE APP DEVELOPER.
Full description here:
The most popular running app is now available on Android, for free!
Map your runs, track your progress and get the motivation you need to reach your goals. No sensor or additional products needed, just grab your phone and go.
- From the trail to the treadmill, your phone's GPS and accelerometer accurately record your distance, pace, and time. In-run audio feedback lets you know these metrics at every mile, so you can stay focused on your run.
- Get in-ear cheers from your friends on Facebook when you broadcast that you’ve started a run. Tag the friends you ran with and share a map of your route with friends and family.
- Have a song that gets you pumped? Set up PowerSongs to give yourself a boost with the tap of a button.
- Our Run Summary makes it easy to view your route and track how you felt, the terrain you tackled, and the weather you endured.
- Rotate your phone while viewing the Run Summary to see the breakdown of your run into mile splits.
- See how your last run stacks up against your previous seven, and get fresh insights based on your latest activity every time you come back to the app.
- Swipe upwards on the Home Screen to view your next moves. From picking your PowerSongs to challenging one of your personal bests, there’s always something to make your running experience better than before.
- Visualize all your runs side-by-side and see your progress in a bar graph history view.
- Syncing your run to the Nikeplus.com website allows you to view your maps on a larger screen, set a new goal, and find Nike+ Top Routes in your area. Check it out.
- There’s even shoe tagging. Type in the name of your running shoes to track the distance they’re logging and see when it’s time to lace up a new pair. You’re never done running, but your shoes might be.
- Need extra motivation? Add a widget to your phone’s home screen to show when you ran last, display your total mileage, and for even quicker access into a run.
- Some features such as Share Run and Cheer Me On require users to be connected to a wireless network for full functionality. Please note that continued use of GPS running in the background could dramatically decrease battery life.
Market link- HERE
APK Link- HERE
When i tried to download this from the Play Store it said my device (HTC One X) was incompatible. I have installed the APK directly and it works perfectly!! Post below if you find its working for you too!!
EDIT: If you want the latest updates you need to download and install market enabler (will add apk in a sec), change country to t-mobile (us) and in Play store hit menu -> settings -> my apps, and there should be an option to update nike+.
Market Enabler- APK Link
OP updated with APK download!!
once i went into settings in the app it crashes and wont come back untill i reset data on app. probably because my DPI is changed to 241 instead of stock 320 :/ no nike runnning for me... yet
Seems to be working fine on my Arc. Will go for a run later to confirm!
Thanks for uploading.

Don't work on my galaxy nexus...
I have it, and happily using it on my samsung Galaxy Note, with ICS.
However, I just recently noticed that it has been eating up my battery, even when I am done using it. According to ICS battery consumption, it is on top of the list, and even eating up greater power than the screen.
So , how do I properly shut this app down, including its background processes after using it?
does anyone have the latest 1.0.2 apk for this with stability fixes? In the UK only O2 customers can get this app until the end of the year

Many thanks for this post but would heartily echo the sentiment asking if anyone has access to the 1.0.2 APK and would be willing to share...
Many thanks,

The photo sharing is only for iOS? It's nice how add your run data over the photo..
