[Q] Where do you go for all of your Android news/reviews/etc? - HTC Sensation

For all of you current Android users, besides xda, what sites do you go to to read up on Android? Where do you get your news, reviews, & all of that stuff?
I go to pocketnow & engadget but I've noticed there are quite a few sites out there that are dedicated to just Android. I'd like to know some of the more popular ones so I can maybe add it to my list of frequented sites.
Thanks

I really don't call engadget a reliable site they do things with android phones that a normal person wouldn't do. Like play music while recording a video in 1080p and says the sound is horrible. Usually phonedog, smartphone envy sometimes and tech buffalo. Usually have good reviews of the phone.

Android Central is good. Check it out

I check Phandroid because they're local to me, Droid-Life because they'll sometimes do an article on an app that's cool, Pocketnow, Engadget and sometimes Android Centeral or Android Police depending on who the source is for articles I care about. Also, T-Mo News when I want to see what's up with the Sensation

The usual engadget, cnet, phone arena, ars technica. Androidcentral is my favorite dedicated android site. Androidguys and androidandme seem to have dropped when it comes to quality the past few months.

IntoMobile, AndroidPolice, DroidLife, Engadget, This is my next, Pocketnow, Pocketlint.

engadget, phandroid, android and me, planet android..... a have quite a few in my google reader.
The bad thing when you subscribe multiple websites is, you can be reading the same news 10 times a day.....

Wrong section

I also check out phandroid. Great place to ask questions and get some feedback.

My favorite place for specs and reviews is gsmarena.com but they are not without their occasional errors. Still, my fav place.

Coolsmartphone techradar and pocketnow

Best app/game reviews sites?

I've done my fair share of Google searching and still haven't found anything great. Figured I'd ask my fellow SR owners.
Since my switch from the i4 the one thing I miss is using the Site toucharcade.com for reviews on games. I still use it daily for my ipad and have been looking for a site similar for our android phones. Haven't found one that's easy to find decent reviews on apps or games. Just top list all over Google.
What sites do you guys use?
Here are few sites I frequent daily, hopefully some of you guys may like.
Lifehacker.com
Redmondpie.com
Toucharcade.com (ipad games)
And just one of my favorite blogs to use:
Theawesomer.com
They get their info from a collective of the major and minor blogs sites so it comes a little later then most. But man its a rad Site to waste some time!
So what do y'all use?

[Suggestion] General News Section

Hi All / Mods,
Here's a suggestion from my end:
Can we have a section dedicated to general news (Android, non-android, tech, non-tech or general knowledge related) ?
I mean any kind of news / headlines in your neighbourhood / country, it'd be good to go thru quick news around the world while browsing thru the forums once a while...
What say you?

Good idea mate, stuff like the latest goss ie
"On November 11, 2012, (only 4 days ago) Apple and HTC announced a 10-year patent deal to joint license all current and future patents which both companies own. It is predicted that Apple will make $280 million a year from this deal with HTC"
or
"Apple Successfully Patents Rectangle With Rounded Corners, Patent D670,286 was issued to Apple yesterday, and what it clearly focuses on is the outer edge shape of what could be pretty much be anything"
But I think it should be kept Smart Phone related which would interest everyone, not general news which would tend to get a bit clicky when ppl start talking about events in their own neighborhood which wont interest ppl on the other side of the world
What do u say Mods???
Exactly, this is what i'm talking about, sometimes you tend to miss a breaking news on ur busy day !
I too love the idea
However If mods don't find the idea of other news 'unrelated to tech ' Good, maybe just related to Tech would be fine?

I always liked XDA's Nexus 7 "Unboxing." http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iNWRto0Vf0M
Hello!
I loved all articles in 2012 and I was reading them while having fun, so it was very good. For videos, I particularly liked the XDA Unboxings, and the unboxing of the SGS3 was hilarious when Jordan "fainted" when he saw his device was taken apart.
So yeah, a great year at XDA, wish you another like this!!!!!!
I'm a big fan of Azrienoch's This Is Why We Root video. It really sheds some light on the possibilities after rooting your device, as well as providing information as to why someone would want to. I'm an advocate of being able to have total control over a phone that you've paid good money for, and now I have a resource to direct my friends to whenever I hear the question "What's so good about rooting your phone?".

I like XDA unboxing videos.
My favorite is Verizon's Samsung Galaxy S3 unboxing
azrienoch's video on Why XDA-Developers.com Roots Android(http://www.xda-developers.com/android/this-is-why-xda-developers-com-roots-android-xda-developer-tv/)
is my favorite
After lurking for a number of months this is the first subject that has compelled my procrastinating fingers to register.
Best video all categories - Azrienoch "This Is Why XDA-Developers.com Roots Android"
The others are difficult to choose from as they're all great and I feel it is almost a betrayal to say that I've preferred one more than another thus I'm just going to give a special mention for TK who has improved exponentially with every video made.
Big thanks to all for your efforts.
Good

Apple Censoring "Android" in Reviews

Not sure where to post this, but I thought I'd share this with you since I am surprised that this has not received more attention. I searched the internet and couldn't find anything about it...
Apple is censoring any mention of the word "Android" in their App Store reviews. I wrote a review for an app and mentioned something about the Android version being better and my review was not published. I thought maybe it was because I said something positive about Android, but after doing some further experiments I found that they censored any mention of the word Android. So, I started using the word "And.roid" or "Andr-oid" or some variation, and those reviews made it through the filters and were published. If you have an iOS device try it out yourself. I haven't tried other keywords like Blackberry or Windows, but I should try those as well.
I can't believe how pathetic Apple has become. They are so insecure that they have to censor any mention of Android. If you're Android fan, be sure to write some reviews about how great And.roid is. Maybe Apple will get the hint that censorship is not the answer...okay, now I know I'm dreaming...
True, apple is afraid to see themselves crumble after losing so many people

Great find, Thanks for sharing. Trule shows how bad Apple really is.
Whereas Google shamelessly showed plenty of Apple products on their last I/O conference.

I contacted Apple support about this and after they "looked into it" this is the response I got:
"Hi, (name removed for privacy)!
>
> (name removed for privacy) here again with iTunes store support. Forgive me, in my previous response I meant to address your review issue. We were unable to find anything on our end that would prevent you from publishing reviews. I don't believe we have any type of filter regarding Android, and Apple, did the comments you have successfully published have the same comments as the ones that did not publish?
>
> I look forward to hearing from you soon, (name removed for privacy) here again with iTunes store support. Thank you for being part of the iTunes family!
>
> Sincerely,
>
> (name removed for privacy)
> iTunes Store Advisor / Mac App Store Advisor
> Please note: Monday-Friday 8:00 AM-4:30PM"
So, I wrote back to them and told them that any mention of Android was definitely rejected. I also told them that if I misspelled Android the review was published, but if I later went back and edited the review changing only "And.roid" to "Android" the review was immediately removed. If I edited it again from "Android" back to "And.roid", the review was published again. I did not hear back from Apple after that.
Apple just doesnt want to lose more market share lol. They used to control the smartphone market but now android has like 63% and apple has around 30%. Not sure if those numbers are exact but they are close to that.

This is not very surprising. Apple needs to anything that they can to not lose any more customers because android is in fact doing better than IOS.

I might go and post some reviews, explaining why I prefer iOS to Android and then ask them why it's not been published

lol ironic, Apple says they like to go for "perfection".
Well now apple redefines "perfection" . Sign of bankruptcy.

Apple are a manipulative bunch of liars
Following the news that NSA had planted backdoors in Android warmly accepted by Google (well, not in so many words, but who's going to believe that NSA's contribution to Android has nothing to do with backdoors?), Apple (who of course have also facilitated NSA access to the massive database of information gleaned from their own spying on their users) deviantly claimed that they "never allow any third party code in their products", intending to insinuate that secret Apple proprietory solutions are better than open source Android because open source Android code has NSA code contributions that Apple would "never allow".
Of course, since all apple software is proprietory and its source code secret, we just have to believe their honest words since nobody could ever verify that there are no NSA backdoors in Apple products. Do Apple merit our trust? Ha!!! They even censor the word Android out of reviews of their products, and then lie about the filters they have put in place. Given the sort of manipulative and exploitative behaviour Apple indulges in on a daily basis, I'd say they are no more to be trusted than the US government.
Hm..this is interesting but something I'm not suprised apple would do. It does seem that they are losing the phone market. I recently fired up my ipod touch to find that there was no more installious or as much development in the cydia community...at least not even close to what android phones have.

Apple bankrupt? Novel thought, but completely unrealistic...
I'd be interested to see if they can manage to coin the next big thing like they did the smartphone, but my money is on Google for that nowadays.

What did you expect from Apple? They stopped innovating a long time ago, now they're only good at patent trolling and decelerating developement.
apple is THIS much pathetic?! for goodness sake, what the hell do they think they're gonna get from such an idiotic behavior?
this really sound like apple is getting more and more nazi towards android, to the point of censoring the name itself
how low the monster has sunk
I have heard about many users who switch from iphones to android terming their new experience to be 'exotic' and 'awesome' but I have hardly heard about android user switching to iphones and said anything extraordinary. I think apple iphone's hardware is amazing. From the design to performance, it is great. But the biggest letdown with iphones is iOS. iOS still looks, feels, the same after so many years. Yes they have changed the look a little in iOS7 but it is still the same old thing. I am not a big fan of customization but it still bugs me to use iphones that still looks the same when I owned iphone 3g.
Hah this is hilarious.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using xda app-developers app
Apple has always gone for simplistic, low/no maint, etc.
They would rather charge more and make everything 'just work' without giving you the options and customization (aka make their QA much harder)
Apples to oranges...erm...androids I suppose, it's hard (for me) to compare them on the same level.
