Another Day, Another 2.3.3 firmware for the I9000 released. (JVO) - Captivate General

This was released on Kies It's the official GB rom for unbranded Galaxy S devices in Europe... I wonder if it's any use to the Captivate (since the leaked ones were, I bet it is )

Hope it is of some help to us.
Now if it only was a light sabor too....

I'm wandering if it fixes the charge drain issue since I believe the release was pulled/delayed in some euro countries because of it.

I just flashed JVO stock w/ xcal 1.2 w/voodoo. Works perfect, just no home haptic feedback since this is I9000 ROM

[Q] Voodoo with US Cellular's Froyo update

I currently have a voodoo kernel on my Mesmerize with 2.1, and now that the update for Froyo is available as of today should I wait for a compatible/updated version of Voodoo to arrive before performing the update?

We've all been running 2.2 for months now with voodoo. It's not a full voodoo kernel, but that is coming soon. If you are completely happy where you are at, you could wait a couple of weeks and by then the new kernel should be out. If you want to update and use what we have now, it's all ready to go.
Yeah I've known about the leaked version for a while I just figured I'd wait. Good to know there will be an updated voodoo kernel in the near future

Ditto. I rely on my Mez for work in addition to play and even the occasional FC is unacceptable. It needs to be rock-solid stable. I had an issue with my first SD Card that came with mine that was triggering incessant scanning and lock ups... and at very inopportune times... and I nearly had a meltdown. I wish I could Beta test for you Devs that are doing such amazing things, but I just can't. (But keep up the good work!!!) I'm also running just Voodoo on a rooted 2.1 Mez and the performance is far from lacking, but like wcouri I just need a stable voodoo'd 2.2 where everything just works to make me happy.
Old thread is old, we have a new froyo build and a working full voodoo now.

[Q] Anyone getting the KJ6 update today? update: confirmed

Saw some chatter on Twitter about a possible update for our device (@TMoNews was the source of it all).
Anyone not rooted and noticing an update? Curious if there is an official GB update rolling out. Seems fitting given all of the leaks recently.
Thanks,
The tweet is from TmoNews: "Any Galaxy S 4G owners seeing an update today?"
At least one person has reported something being delivered.
Edit -- See http://support.t-mobile.com/docs/DOC-1810
Beginning November 15, a software update will be available for the Samsung Galaxy S 4G. The update will upgrade the device to Android 2.3./Software version T959VUVKJ6.
Devices upgrading to Android 2.3./Software version T959VUVKJ6 will benefit from various improvements based on customer feedback.
Devices upgrading to T959VUVKJ6 will benefit from:
Android 2.3(Gingerbread)
Google Security Patch
Camera enhancements
Wi-Fi enhancements
Note: The upgrade to KJ6 is NOT required. You may opt out of the upgrade and continue using software version T959VUVKD1.
Important:
This upgrade will not be sent to devices Over the Air (OTA / FOTA) - Instead, you must install the upgrade by connecting your Galaxy S 4G to a PC using Samsung Kies Mini software.

Yeah, I'm wondering how to do this from a froyo rom too. I'd love stock Gingerbread.

i just wonder if you plug in the rooted / custom rom'd phone it would have a chance to brick it , etc etc. i know with my hd2 anytime you flashed a stock rom (wm 6.5 lol) it would simply override everything
I'm on audiophile. I'll try the upgrade and let you guys know how it goes

Thanks, I am running Linux on my Laptop and Kies doesn't work through VM so this will definitely help me.
I upgraded through keis with two.sgs4g phones. One had trigger kd1 ROM with root voodoo cwm the other was never modified just kd1. Both you need to press speaker twice during call to get mic working in a call. How do I fix ? I did factory reset too.

Using the Infuse on stock ROM. Do not want to install Custom ROM. Queries

I have just bought an Infuse from ebay (not received yet) and this is for my younger brother. I am just evaluating whether i need to install a custom ROM and give him the phone or just give him on stock ROM. I will be unlocking and rooting the phone as need to use with an Indian mobile service.
My brother is not a power user and do not care anything about over clocking etc etc. He has no knowledge of ROM installation or anything.
Also we would want the USB to HDMI adapter thing to work with the phone.
Are there any known issues with stock froyo which hamper the day to day use of the phone ?
Does the MHL adapter work on custom ROMs (which are based on leaked GB) ??
Can i remove the AT&T bloatware after rooting the phone ?
Any other information that you would like to give me ?
I personally had huge issues with battery life and performance before flashing a custom ROM (that one being CM7), but if you can work with/around that, you should be fine.
Bloat can be removed after rooting, I did it with titanium backup. I believe the stock leaks do have working hdmi but I don't know of any custom roms that have working hdmi righ tnow.
Battery life sucks on froyo. Look into flashing a stock gingerbread leak using odin. The KL2 leak is the best. If he is not into doing too much to his phone this is the way to go.

+1 Battery Time is terrible on Stock Rom - I hope AT&T release Gingerbread soon ( I was hoping that it would be released by now but now i have lost hope and i think AT&T might just skip this phone for upgrade ).
Ok so is the Gingerbread leak for this phone bug free ? (not the derived custom GB ROMs).
Also i would appreciate a link to the most stable official GB leak for the Infuse.
And does the HDMI work well on it ?
Hers the link.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1390339
Yes it's stable. As long as you use the stock kernel, hdmi works. Also read through this link first.

These will all be in case she doesn't show for scheduled visitations.l to prove that I have been setting time aside. Please any he'll would be good. My system is a rooted captivate with stock kernal running stock gingerbread minus some bloatware. Ive only wandered across thread discuasing apks and other files that ive no clue about changine to do so. Thanks for any help.

The Firefly ROM can record calls. IMO Firefly was one of the most polished ROMs out there. Unfortunately it is Froyo, but it's still an amazing ROM. Check out this post I made a few months ago about getting call recording to work as well as the whole thread on call recording. Hopefully this helps, good luck.

I'd like to run that as my phone ran better on and came stock with froyo. Once I updated to Ginger it began to suck. Force closes, lagging. It been terrible but I can't upgrade the phone until next year at upgrade time. It has been a great $0.97 phone. I've tried to load roms and it doesn't work. I get some e:signature verification error. What would be the best way to load this rom. I am new to all of this and would love to learn more. However even in the tutorials I run across acronyms I don't know. Could someone please give me the easiest way to load this rom.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I897 using XDA
Two things:
1. If you're having trouble with acronyms, take a look at the "XDA Terms and Acronyms" post. That should help you out.
2. To get around the 3e signature issue, your best bet would be to flash a Froyo kernel with ClockworkMod recovery already included via Odin or Heimdall. I would suggest Onix, as it's a good kernel and I know it works with Firefly from previous experience.
thanks
thanks for the help. it is certainly appreciated. i just flashed the odin kernal. does it matter that the phone is currently running stock gb? also how long does it take to load? i like literally just did it at 10:14pm on wednesday june 20, 2012.
Well I flashed a stock kernal with cwm already inside and was then able to download firefly and flash it. I really like it. Ultra smooth. Much faster than stock gb. Thanks to all who responded. Thanks to all the guys at xda. Y'alls work is great. Too bad they haven't tried updating firefly to gb. I think it'd be great.

Team Phoenix aka The Collective aka The Family did come out with a great GB ROM called Mosaic. While Mosaic is themed blue, it does have a flashable Firefly theme here if you're partial to that.
They also came out with an ICS ROM, Fusion. Unfortunately it doesn't have a Firefly theme but it does have a green theme that looks pretty good as well.
It is important to note that the Firefly ROM is the only one that has call recording. It was never implemented in any of the more recent ROMs. Hopefully this helps.
I like firwfly in that it is quicker than the stock gb and it supports call recording. I needed it at the request of my attorney to record all calls with my sons mom. Id like to get back to a gb based rom that supports call recording. I don't want to try a ics rom until its more stable and safer. Don't want to render my phone useless.

di11igaf's Rom on 2.2.1 also had call-recording. LOVED this rom!!!
Does anyone know why this feature is left out of all recent and current Roms? Currently on an ICS Rom now, and the only thing that I really miss is the call-recording. There is a post about this issue for the SGS II on 2.3.5 & Mod here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1482721.

Yes you can. Actually if you we're running a custom ROM you would need to revert back to a stock ROM, rooted or not. Any who, Google LG update tool. Install that and drivers for g2x and follow the prompts from the LG tool and that should do it.

I miss my bluetooth connectivity but that aside the new BB is the absolute bizness (for all the reasons previously stated). The phone even seems to handle OC'd kernels better.
I still get occasional shut down or random reboot on New Baseband with CM7.2 Official Stable
i agree with dark ma++er about missing the bluetooth with the new BB, but i have had it for a few weeks now and im running CM7.2 nightly 20120617 (i guess that is or will be 7.3?) and faux kernel without any issues whatsoever, and it overclocks wonderfully, does not overheat, reboot, lockup, nothing. solid as a rock and loving it!
