My wife's T-mobile nexus s was rooted and was updated from stock to 2.3.2 to cm7.1 along with the KD1 radio and trinity kernel about a week ago. Today I enabled her wifi hotspot and it worked fine for about 20 minutes. Then she turned it off and tried to get on the market from her phone and could not connect. So I look at it and data and wifi are gone and won't turn on. I have managed to recover wifi. I have in this order tried:
Playing with 2g/3g and mobile data settings
Rebooting
Fixing Permissions in CW
Reflashing the radio
Reflashing the rom after clearing cache and dalvik cache
Restoring a nandroid from before the crash after wiping data, cache, dalvik, system and doing a factory reset. This step is what got my wifi back.
The md5s from the rom, kernel, and radio match up so I don't think it is that.
I then had to leave, so she has the phone right now and it makes calls and will recieve text, just no mobile data. So as I now I'm kind stuck. Anyone have any ideas.
My sister's mobile internet was once deactivated as tethering wasn't covered by her contract and they couldn't "upgrade" her to a monthly fee that'd have included tethering. After calling the carrier she got her data connection back.
It was a gremlin from the apn rename function of the data toggle from Widgetsoid. I remembered that I had to use apn rename to get it to work when I first set it up. I forgot about it when uninstalling and the hotspot finally broke Mobile Data and WiFi somehow because of it. I just had to reinstal widgetsoid and switch to root toggle (since now the apn rename does not work as it did before being broken) and turned it on and off. Now I've uninstalled it again as she doesn't need it anymore and everything works.
Wasn't as difficult as I feared it was going to be.
Okay so here's what's happened.
My phone is the LG-925g from Rogers, and it's unlocked to work with Koodo. It WAS working just fine.
Sometime around my update to V20c (I don't know exactly when, so I can't say forsure it's the update) data stopped working properly on HSPA. It didn't entirely stop working, just sustained connections.
Let me explain.
On WIFI EVERYTHING works.
On 3G I can browse, check e-mails etc... but I can't download anything. Market I can browse, but not download. Youtube works in the browser, but not the youtube app. Shazam doesn't work. Facebook updates work in the browser, but not the Social+ widget. Weather updates fail.
I can browse and check e-mail and that's about it.
so data IS working, just not properly.
Here's what I've tried....
-Formatting NV partition
-Formatting Cache Partition
-Formatting internal SD Card
-Complete Phone Reset
-Took my phone to a Rogers store, hooked it up to the rogers cell network on a store-sim and it worked great
-Took my sim card to a koodo store, stuck it in a demo android phone, worked great.
- Factory Reset of phone
- (phone was not rooted at time of problem) rooted to install and use networking tools
-went into hidden menu 3845#*925#
-went into Other Hidden Menu: *#*#4636#*#*
-ran every test in hidden menu and looked for settings that may affect this
-Installed APN Remover to remove all APN's except Koodo
-Verified (with a koodo rep) every APN setting and even tried removing some or messing around with them
I'm about to downgrade and re-upgrade my phone to see if that works. Any chance that may fix it? any other possible solutions? I'll even take crazy solutions at this point because netstats pings, etc etc are not showing me anything, I just get a lot of Syn_sent connections without ACK's.
HELP! (And sorry for the wall of text)
have you tried setting up your APNs?
APN's
Yeah, I tried setting and resetting them a few times, even with a rep from the cell company.
I'm losing my mind!
Thanks anyways though!
Im using 21d. Seems to have somewhat similar problem. Getting unstable connections.
My problem:
phone kept switching from H to 3G to G and H again. Speedtest app revealed very low and inconsistent speeds..Reception bar also kept changing.
Phone was previously froyo. Im not sure if it's because of gingerbread baseband. I have some suspicions on that.
Im from Singapore

I agree. I think it's a GB thing. I'm on v21a, and I have the issue where upload arrow keep blinking, and I get the H -> 3G-> H.
EDIT:
I'm having this on v10d too
Running OpenSensation ROM 20120621 (CM9) and Bricked kernel 3.0.36 and experienced a weird problem yesterday while roaming. The device shut down itself several times.
What happend:
I have a german SIM card (Vodafone) and went on a shopping trip to France. As I have a 100 MB data roaming option on my contract, I wanted to try this out. So I enabled data roaming in the system settings and waited.
Nothing happend. I opened browser and got no connect. I went back to settings and enabled "national data roaming" too. Now I finally got a data connection and was happy and went back to shopping.
10 minutes later I looked at the Sensation again and saw that it was powered off. I booted it and opened browser and after a couple of seconds the device went off again. No error message, nothing. I tried this some times more, same result. So I disabled data roaming again.
In the evening back in my own country without roaming I was very astonished to see that the device still shut itself down when doing some data transfer. I went to settings and saw that I still had "national data roaming" enabled. I disabled it and finally everything was normal again.
Did anyone experience the same? What's wrong?
I have the Rogers Samsung Galaxy SII running CyanogenMod 9. A couple of days ago I rebooted my phone and for some reason it got stuck on the CM boot screen. I tried unplugging the battery overnight but it still was just stuck on boot. So I wound up re-flashing the phone and installing CM9 again. Now I cannot get a data connection at all. Wi-fi works fine and I'm able to make and receive calls but for whatever reason it will just not connect to LTE/GSM.
I re-flashed the phone again, using a slightly older release of CM9. Still not connecting.
I have tried about 3 or 4 different modems. When I flash a new modem and reboot the phone, it will connect to data for about 5 mins. I will see the data connection flip between 3G and H+ numerous times and then the data connection will drop and I cannot get it back.
I've set my APN settings (ltemobile.apn) and I've gone into the phone settings via *#*#4636#*#* and tried various settings in there (LTE only, LTE/GSM pref, etc.) Still not connecting.
Any ideas? I feel like I've tried everything at this point.
Hey guys, quick background. I bricked my SGS3 and had to have it replaced. I think I got a refurb phone because from day one I keep having the same issue. First day I got the replacement phone I rooted it and flashed CleanROM 5.0. Everything was peachy until I noticed that I have no 4G or 3G service. In fact, I had no data connectivity at all. My phone can make calls, receive texts no problem, won't connect to internet. If I restart the phone, I have 4G right away. After a few minutes, the 4G icon is on, but the phone won't has no data connection (when I say data connection I mean it will not go online, no internet, no android market, still have voice and txts). If I attempt to go on internet, I get a message saying "No Signal Found For Mobile Networks". I have installed Network Signal Info and right after a restart it says 4G LTE, data connected, upload+download activity. After a few minutes, it says 4G LTE, data connected, after a little while, it will switch to EHRPD, with data "connecting". Also, in the System tab, it will tell me my IEMI and version of JB running, next to "Radio", it says "unknow". WiFi works perfectly btw. My IEMI is perfectly fine,
I had it backed up. My phone number is still there.
Here is what I had tried so far: Switching into and out of Airplane mode, different programs that reset mobile connection, flashed different custom ROMs, flashed the stock kernel, flashed 3 or 4 verizon Modems, Data wipe, cache, Dalvik wipe, Odin'ed back to stock 4.0.1 ICS and had upgraded it to 4.1.1 via verizon software update, changed the SIM card, and reprovisioned the phone with that *3767*whatever the hell code. I'm out ideas.
If anyone has any other idea that I can try before I take it back to Verizon, please, let me know.

Did you go into your mobile data settings to make sure you're on CDMA/LTE? If not I would select and reboot the phone and see if the problem persists. I don't know if you have tried this but it's worth a shot.
I'm having literally the same exact problem with my mom's S3 except for it's not rooted, complete with 'download + upload activity' and 'unknown' radio. I've yet to find anything in my search, but if I do I'll post it here.

I did try that. Nothing seems to be working.
