Backlight - Samsung Galaxy S (4G Model)

Is there any way to completely disable the backlight on the samsung galaxy s 4g?
What I mean by this is that I don't want the soft keys on the phone to light up at all

I would like to see a reply to this as well...I use Screen Filter and it does a great job at dimming the screen beyond the minimum I can with Android, but it doesn't affect those buttons...they're blindingly bright in a blacked out room...

Prevent Light sensor from switching off LED buttons?

Hey guys, I'm running Khalpower's V4 (following the video tutorial which was great)
I realized the light sensor now controls the 4 lit buttons at the bottom part of the phone. I'm okay with it but I realized that sometimes its not accurate and it really distracts me going on and off. Any idea if I can turn off the light sensor controlling when the buttons are lit?
Thanks!

[Q] Help with hardware buttons - brightness

Anyone come across a place in the code where you can configure the brightness of the light behind the hardware keyboard and the hardware buttons on the face?
Here's the deal, the buttons on the front facing of the phone are just too damn bright, and now that I have one of those privacy-shield screen protectors on (love it, btw) the hardware buttons are way too bright, about 3 times the level of light that emanates from the screen.
I desperately need to figure out how to dim those front face buttons, because it's really screwing with my eyes while i'm trying to work with the device.
Everything I search for on XDA comes up with using the hardware buttons to set the brightness levels, but nothing about setting the brightness levels of the backlit buttons themselves.
While we're poking around on it I figured we should see about the brightness level of the hardware buttons on the keyboard, too. I think they're fine, but someone else might want to adjust it and it stands to reason to concentrate the info all in one spot.
Anyone come up with a clue while browsing through the device, or know how to do this? I don't want to lose all the illumination, just dim it a bit.
Thanks!
Clue 1:
In kernel source, /arch/arm/mach-msm/board-doubleshot.c
Around line 2300 some info defined.
More as it's found, going through all kernel source line by line takes a while.

[Q] duration of backlight on hardware keys

hi there, could some one help me work out how to control the duration of the bottom touch capacitive keys on my lg p920 3d, as they only stay on for 6 or 7 sec i need them to stay on while im using it,as at night its just not possible to know where the keys are!my old lg p970 black had it and the led lights would stay on really dim but enough to see them,so if you can post a link or know of a app that can do this let me know
Try this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1216824
It will keep the LEDs on while the screen is on. And it can do some other stuff.
But it is not possible to reduce the brightness of LEDs.
Over the time you will find yourself remembering the position of the 4 keys and maybe the function to reduce the timeout of 6s to lower values will come in handy

A simple Request for Samsung

Hey,
Could You please modify the upcoming egde kernel so that the screen won't turn on when the home Button is pressed inside our pockets. It would really improve our battery and omit unwanted pocket photos. LG already has it in all their G series, it's a simple proximity Sensor addon. I am asking cause I would like to enjoy edge Features and therefore planning to stay Stock.
Kind Regards,

While I agree with having a option to wake with the home button or not. Use a pattern or password lock screen. You can omit having a camera icon from any lock screen.
That way if your screen does turn on, the likely hood of taking pictures or pocket calls is very minimal.
I use gravity screen app. Keeps phone off in pocket and auto turns it on when pulling it out. Customisable. Great.
You can modify it to disable home button wake. @dwitherell

I'll Sure try it cause what happened to me today was really frustrating, I had my phone in my pockets and after sometime I felt my legs were burning hot so I quickly brought it out thinking the LiPo was about to explode or something but it turned out to be the phone activated the quick camera shortcut on the fingerprint lock screen and started capturing 4k video which for sure heated the processor up and other compnents as well. that was really annoying.
I tried this Gravity app but still I got unwanted phone wakes, I also looked into Rooting and disabling it, but still that's not what I want. I would like to use the home button normally but deactivate it only when in my pocket with the Proximity sensor.
