Like this one-

Or this one-

comparatively those are very expensive.

I'm looking for one too. Haven't pulled the trigger on any of these though.
I'm thinking this might be the best one as it has the preventative overcharging circuitry stuff going on with it.

Those aren't desktop chargers. They plug into the wall. The OP is asking about desktop chargers.
I actually have one of the ones you posted myself. They work fine but the build quality is very poor. I've gone through 3 of them now, but at $7 a piece, who cares.
There doesn't seem to be a thread for this, but is Qi charging better for the battery? I was really curious because I am determining to get the Wireless Orb, and was just wondering the advantage besides looking cool and no wires.

No better, no worse.
So, they're the same thing? I thought that Qi turned off when fully charged or something...

It does, but all modern phones do this with all forms of charging. Used to be bad to leave something plugged in and topped off but electronics now a days will stop pulling current when charged to prevent overcharging. So with an older device it would help, but any newer one, which qi devices invariably are, there shouldn't be a difference as far as wear and tear on the battery from overcharging.

So just now i grabbed an old solar panel for a garden light and it still works, i was wondering if there was an easy way to turn this into a charger?

That looks to be a 3.6V setup, basically a FR6 battery charging circuit. You'll need 5V 500mA in order to build a charger, you'll need to figure out what the panel is putting out. Time to whip out the multimeter, and then figure out a new charging circuit and cell. Probably better off just getting a $15 dollar solar charger from China
Ok, is there any way to change it so it would work?

Looks like you broke the ground wire off, you'll need to test the output from that and the white/blue wire to see what you're getting in direct sunlight. Handy with a soldering iron?
Actually i tested it with its original lights and it still works fine, the ground wire is still there, you may not just be able to see it because the case is black.

Oh i didn't notice that, i will fix it tomorrow.

Given the fact that it probably is a lower voltage circuit ie. 1.2-1.4V as opposed to 5V which is needed to operate a proper USB standard charging circuit you would probably have to build a boost converter to up the voltage and hope that the solar panel can provide enough amperage to charge your phone. Keep in mind also that while the USB 2.0 standard dictates a minimum of 500mA, that doesn't mean that your phone consumes less than 500mA while on, and you may only be able to charge the phone on a 500mA circuit while it is in low use.
Given all of that, it probably wouldn't be too difficult to do in a weekend or so given that you can read a schematic and can acquire all the necessary components. If you can get the spec of the solar panel ie. open circuit voltage and closed circuit current I could tell you if that panel would be sufficient to use.
First off I would like to give a big thanks to James for allowing me to be a beta tester for his batteries, and accessories. Received this stock replacement with Nfc, about 5-6 days ago and have been using it since,.. great battery! And if your looking for something to replace your factory battery or just a spare, you can't beat it,..especially for what they sell for! I consider myself a pretty heavy phone user, of course don't go crazy and put the brightness all the way up or anything, but texting, phone calls, YouTube, Netflix, web browsing, I do a very good bit of it. I'll get right down to it and post my battery screen shots with the Onite,.. More reviews coming soon including an Onite extended with Nfc. Thanks again James,..this is a great battery guys! Btw phone is unrooted, completely stock

the same experience
I have also got a Onite battery. It is indeed as you described.very good quality! I am so lucky to get what I need.much appreciated.
got one to test as well
i would totally agree with the OP on this. i recieved one too for my s4 and must say if not more i am getting the same amount of time from this battery that i would get from the stock battery. would recommend anyone in the market who carries spare batteries like me.
Awesome. Have 2 coming in tomorrow. We're talking 2600s, right?

So I just got my NFC version batteries today. Upon close inspection is looks like the battery has the NFC charging coils built in. Has anyone tried putting this battery in and laying it on a charging back?

I may be confusing wireless charging with NFC.
NFC? Really?

Oh,I use NFC with S3 usually.
But I don't think it is related with the wireless charging.
Maybe you need a Wireless Charger Receiver Pad if you lay it on a charging back.
Hope is helps. Please Clike me.

The upstair is right.
You can get the wireless charger pad on ebay or amazon.
NFC is not wireless charger pad.
OP, do you need a separate charger for the nfc onite battery or can I charge it while its in my phone? I've had past experiences with aftermarket batteries only being able to be charged with that company's charger and was disappointed when that battery was drained.

sweet, buying through amazon now...:good::good::good:
Yep charges exactly like the stock battery ..they are making there separate charger (the one that you can just charge the battery itself) better for faster charging,..the older ones take longer to charge,.. comes in handy when you have another way to charge your extra battery

How long does it take to full charge?
I wish a quick charger no more than 5 hours.
2600mAh/5h=520mA at least.

The one they are making now,..should be just about finished, it's 600ma so it will be significantly better than the other one, I'll make a post as soon as I have one in hand. I should be receiving one soon, not sure what the older charger takes for a full charge I think it's 6.5 hours or longer,..which is why they've been working hard to get this new 600ma charger out.

STOKED!!!
Excited to get my 2x Onite batteries w/NFC today...Tracking them through Amazon and my local post office has it out for delivery!!!Also for the charger is it just a plug in battery charger or is it a dock/battery charger. I saw the dual dock/battery chargers on amazon but no reviews...
Was wondering whether there are things to watch out for when considering wireless charging. The charger supplied with the phone is a normal one as far as i know. Are there any drawbacks when using any wireless charger? Is the hp touchpad touchstone compatible? Any info will be much appreciated

they generally charge slower. maybe twice as long(or a little less than twice as long)
The touchstone probably won't work - it's not Qi compatible.
If you're using the Nexus 4 wireless charger, the good news is that the 5 doesn't generally slide off.
