Yeah PR here too:
http://www.androidpolice.com/2011/0...o-regional-plan-whatever-the-hell-that-means/
However, I think it's more likely it will just be for the Galaxy S device I9000 not necessarily our phone. Samsung is being sketchy. They didn't specifically specify all the devices.

That's not necessarily true, though i will agree with "sketchy" they said ALL galaxy s devices, theoretically this would include our device as it's under that all category, and is a galaxy s line phone.

So who's jumping ship for the Galaxy SII?

Supposedly it's coming out in July for Verizon

Pass ... Not a fan of Samsung build quality
With a dual core 1.2 ghz processor it better have a good battery that comes with it stock. I am not changing phones to just get battery life that is worse then the thunderbolt.

The Droid Bionic supposedly is a 4.5 LTE monster...but blur and locked bootloader...no thanks
If its LTE yes.
I had the fascinate and I will not ever buy ANY samsung product. I even returned a samsung monitor I had back to costco.
I loved my Vibrant, I'd probably go back to Sammy if it was LTE.
It is surely tempting, to say the least.
yeah, had a fascinate. i think i'll pass on this. samsung phones feel cheap and they use too much plastic. just doesnt feel like an expensive device.

This. Worst phone I've ever owned, and I've had every android on VZW except for the Ally and Inc.
I'll wait until it launches, see what the developer scene looks like, before I make a decision. I won't be jumping on launch day, but I've been impressed with Samsung's recent actions, fast kernel source releases, donations of phones to developers, etc.
Nope pass

Nope holding onto my Thunderbolt for a while... All i care is that tethering works and I'll wait for a nice quad-core tablet to come out and do all my heavy lifting on that.

Just a Galaxy Infuse Spec photo

I created this photo, its plain and simple. What do you think?
Not true.
You can get paid apps free regardless if its rooted or not, how ever if you do like the app you should buy it and support the dev...if everyone illegally downloaded things then devs would never push out updates...
And no one gets 21mb/s down on the infuse...att advertises up to 21 mb but you won't even get close...21mb/s down as LTE average speeds, I had an infuse and would get 6mb/s...got my LTE vivid and I get 23mb/s
Other than those two...is say its a pretty decent spec sheet...all though not sure why you made it??? I quick google search will tell you everything and more about this phone

Very true. I own both a Galaxy s2 Skyrocket and an Infuse and the reason I got the skyrocket (for non-contract price) is because it is better than the infuse and that still stands true.

Neither. Go for a nexus phone. Nexus s/galaxy nexus/nexus 4.
Bought Galaxy Nexus a year ago for the same purpose, worked like a charm for me. I would suggest to go with Nexus too. There are very popular and hacker friendly.
Strictly for hacking/dev-ing, the Nexus 4/Galaxy Nexus. For hacking/dev-ing while retaining a lot of common features (removable battery, expandable storage), Galaxy S3 or Note 2.
Thats right. Nexus is best

i would also rather go for a nexus device instead of the 2 other devices, there are plenty of documentations and drivers for them and you can also run ubuntu on it. perfect for hacking around.
The google phones are the path of least resistance for hacking. They make things easier than 3rd parties who don't care about users who want to unlock or root their phones.

Samsung Galaxy S4 “Google Edition” to be announced at Google IO

not sure if this is pure bs or if its real.. but if its the real deal then its fantastic!
Google’s big yearly conference is often the stage for new products, and this year is promising to be bigger than any other. Despite shifting from two smaller keynotes to one larger keynote, Google is ready to put on quite a show tomorrow. Part of the big day will be to announce a new version of Samsung’s latest flagship, the Galaxy S4. While Samsung’s phone is an incredible piece of hardware, many users find themselves less than pleased with Samsung’s version of Android. To resolve this once and for all, a pure AOSP version of the Galaxy S4 is being prepped for launch and will be unveiled during the IO keynote.
Not to be confused with a Nexus phone, which is a piece of hardware made with Google’s guiding hand, the Galaxy S4 GE will feature stock Android inside the familiar plastic casing. According to sources on hand at Google IO, this Google Edition phone is a collaboration between Samsung and Google to address a growing group of users that prefer stock Android on something other than a Nexus. In order to accomplish this right now, users would need to install custom versions of Android like CyanogenMod. Complete with removable battery and expandable storage with the MicroSD card slot, this phone could certainly address this growing niche.
This Google Edition S4 is expected to be made available starting in June and will be available on T-Mobile bands. At this time we are unaware of pricing or whether more bands will be made available. It’s also unclear if Samsung will be selling the phone or if it will be available through the Google Play Store.

I realize that I'm in the minority here but I personally prefer touchwiz. Ran touchwiz roms on my SGS2 and I intend to run them when we have custom recovery on our SGS4's. For me, that's what makes the difference between buying a Samsung or a Motorola or an LG.
That said, this is a smart move on Samsung's part (if true of course.) You get the advantage of officially supported AOSP with LTE and a warranty. If it's successful I could see others following suit and offering their hardware when a choice of AOSP or their own flavor of android.
