[Q] question about LeeDroid rom - HTC Inspire 4G

So I understand because of ext 4 I need to mount /system and /data before flashing any addons or themes. Does that go for the addons that he posted as well?
I would assume I dont need to worry about it with the kernal....but what about the convert desireHD > Inspire patch.
Also I plan on keeping my stock radio so when I flash the matching RIL....mount /system and /data?
Or would it be a good idea just to mount /system /data before flashing anything past the rom and kernal. Can it hurt?
Thanks in advance.......

This makes no sense. Try again? Far as I know, there is no need to mount /system or /data when flashing the ROM itself, just for other things. Lee did say in his thread that you don't need to do that for anything in his OP, as he's updated them all. However, if you downloaded one of the patches or whatnot from his OP before he updated them, you might want to redownload (I did that with the DHD to Inspire patch, that's why it wasn't working for me).
I do not know if mounting /system and /data would cause any problems, though my gut says no.

For me the full wipe he put in the OP I ran that before I installed the ROM. After that I ran the desire HD to inspire patch and it worked.

If you do the full system conversion he put in the OP, then yes, you ought to be fine. However, most people didn't do that because we updated from the 3.0.2. The OP in this thread is not talking about that.

Thanks I think I'm gonna give it a try....
I plan on flashing the full wipe...so I should be good to go for everything in LeeDroids thread....
But just to be clear, the last thing I plan on flashing is the matching RIL for my current radio....mount /system /data for that one correct?

When I flashed the RIL I didn't mount nothing and it worked.

If you do his full wipe you should never have to mount /system or /data

Themes
Hi,
I am new to all this. I rooted yesterday and loaded the latest leedroid. (may 20th) I love the R2D2 noise and I wish I could have it for a message ringtone. I wanted try some themes but I am not sure how to tell if they will work before I load them up and I don't really understand how to install them. I tried putting them in the root of my sd card but they did not show up in Clock work mod. I even tried using my side loader app and that did not work. I have looked around and the threads/articles are not as clear as I need them too be. I also liked the "quietly rooted" splash animation. I am not sure how to install that, but at least I could see it on my CWM. I did a back up before trying.
Thanks,
ThorsGal

I've been rocking it this evening and it's pretty cool. It is particularly refreshing not to have to jump through hoops when restoring an EXT4 file system that gets downgraded with CWM by default to EXT3. Props to the dev of this. This is great work.
I'm rocking 4EXT right now. Very convenient. Ask the features of CWM with the added benefits of everything else

Yeah I'm enjoying it. I love how it does not make you scroll through 20 "no's" just to flash something. I haven't chafed the color but I did change the background picture. I added...of all things...an android ninja lol!

I did that to my ROM that was supposed to be EXT4 but was using a Nandroid so it was "downgraded" to EXT3. Didn't have any issues at all, but the ROM I'm running is supposed to be EXT4. Check your ROM dev's stats and see what file system the cache is supposed to be is one suggestion.
Converted cache fine on ninja 0716

You're welcome. I was just over in the Desire threads poking sticks in the bushes and ran across this. I've been flashing stuff...just so I can use it . No errors at all for me, and reformatting my partitions to the file systems they should be is a snap.
I just installed it a little bit ago. I've only been rooted for a few days and don't 100% know what I'm doing yet, but it installed without a hitch and seems cool. I'm trying to change the theme on mine, but it's not working exactly as planned.
Just install the zip file through recovery and depending on which version you are using you will either have to reboot the phone back into recovery to see the changes or if you are on 2.11b it will reboot for you.

I think any version will reboot its self as long as the person who made the theme set it up.to do so.

Yeah just download the theme to your SD card, do not unzip. Boot into recovery and then select instal from SD card, find file and click yes. It will reboot back into recovery and then your good to go!

With the beta they're using a new base, so a full wipe is required. They're asking that you stick with the stock kernel during beta phase so they can track bugs a little better. I'm currently using 12.56.60.25x_26.10.04.03_M with the .0153 radio and getting awesome speeds and quick GPS locks

Well if you backed up first it won't be too difficult. Pull your battery, then put the battery back in and boot to HBoot (Vol+ and PWR), choose Recovery, choose backup and restore, and restore to your backup.
Or make sure you do a full wipe (Factory reset, wipe data, wipe system, wipe cache, wipe dalvik cache) and try flashing the ROM again (but if it's a bad download you'll probably just bootloop again)
Or if you don't have a backup and the ROM still isn't working, then you need to get a different ROM on your SD. You can do this by putting the SD in a card reader, or booting to recovery, going to mounts/storage, and choose Mount USB Storage. Your computer will recognize it, put your ROM on the SD, select "Unmount" from recovery, now flash the new ROM
If you happen to have a PD98IMG.zip on your SD you're gonna need to get that off before any of this will work though, cause Bootloader will just continually try to flash that. Easiest way to do that is pull the SD until you select Recovery from HBoot, then reinsert the SD. Or else you'll need to get a card reader or another device that will read your SD, delete the PD98IMG.zip, reinsert the SD to your device, boot to recovery, flash away
Thanks for all the input. I did have that file so i pulled the card so i could get back into recovery & did a nandroid restore & deleted it. It wad a bad download too. So i downloaded it again from a different link & it came in 2 zips, one 390mb & the other like 10mg so i did a full wipe again & when i flashed it said cant read sd again & failed. Both zips. So restored again & here i am running great but w/o beta. Any suggesions?

[ROM][26-Jan-2012]Inspire Prochloron[Sense 3.0][Telus 3.13.611.4 base]

I've rebased my 3.xx ROM from the Telus 3.13.661.4 OTA release recently being pushed to Canadian customers of Telus. This is great for us Inspire users since the Telus DHD is 100% hardware compatible with our Inspires.
Changelog:
26-Jan-2012 - Re-based the entire ROM from recently released 3.13.661.4 source. Gave it a name (Prochloron--just liked the way it sounds). Using the stock kernel right now. Should work with any Sense3 kernels available.
08-Dec-2011 - Re-based the entire ROM from recently released 3.12.405.1 stock HTC RUU.
03-Oct-2011 - Removed some apps deemed exploitable by Android Police. Some minor kernel tweaks. Removed buggy HtcVideoPlayer.apk.
26-Sep-2011 - Updates. Added CRT animation. build.prop changes. New kernel config. Fixed Inspire audio.
22-Sep-2011 - Fixed in-call mic audio. Added a new kernel based on mdeejay's 2.6.35.14 Inspire/DHD kernel. Fixed "Charge Only"/"Disk Drive" being deleted from the status bar drop-down.
20-Sep-2011 - Initial Release.
Download:
http://hoxnet.com/droid/InspireProchloron_0.80.zip
MD5: 08febec7bfbf7fc087bf30b669d82077
It WILL wipe and format your data partition. Backup first! I prefer Titanium Backup.
Copy it to your SD card, reboot to recovery, and install zip.
I'm using it as my daily-driver on the Inspire and it's been rock-solid for the past several days.
More to come as I get feedback!
Thanks for this Gene!! I love a stock base and will take it for a spin within the next few days. Any chance of getting a md5 sum?

The ROM is running fine for me. It's not the fastest but considering its a test ROM its damn good. Nothing fancy to see unless you have never flashed a Sense 3.0 ROM. It's the exact same build that ARHD 6.1 is based on.

I think the problem might be that I installed an older Superuser.apk onto the /system mount and it doesn't play well with the update (which gets applied to the /data mount). You can use a root filemanager that can mount the system directory read-write and just delete /system/app/Superuser.apk, or move the one installed as an update (/data/app/com.noshufou.android.su-1.apk) to the system partition. Either way, you should clear superuser data in settings, applications, all,Superuser after the change and maybe a reboot will be needed. The latest is, I think, 2.3.6.3.
I've added it to the list of changes to make.

Stuck Inspire 4G Need some info

There are many type of information all over the internet about my situation. But some sound similar or different. I'm not a developer or good at things like this. I've successfully loaded roms into my phones in the past. I tried to load ics which I got from android central. I currently have EXT4. I did not do a backup on my older rom which is HDREVOLUTION. I simply went into boot loader, then recovery. Wipe cache/dalvik, wipe dalvik and wipe data/factory reset. Then I loaded my ics rom from the sd card. Now I am stuck on the HTC Boot screen for more than 10 minutes. All I can really do now is go on bootloadeer and EXT4,but thats about it. I even tried going on download mode which I think doesnt exist within this.
Before all this. I use acehack to root my phone. It already came in with all the necessary tools I need. I did not back up the stock rom. I just loaded the HDRev rom. Ive been waiting for months for a updated ICS rom,but so far camera is still not working properly, but I just wanted to see what it would do to benefit my phone just out of curiosity.
Now I am thinking about going back to flashing the rom update from bootloader using the stock Inpspire 4G rom,but will I able to take out my micro sd card, insert it into my laptop and put in leeroid rom then flash it using EXT4? Or do I have to go back to stock rom w/ root?
download another rom and put it on your sdcard. boot to recovery through bootloader, wipe and flash.

IceCold over at desireHD is the most solid ICS rom I found so far. Even here on inspire the three most solid so far that I consider are Melchizedek, AOSPX and Redemption. But try a few on for size and give them about a week each to really get the feel of them.

yes you can use 4EXT recovery to flash rom just remember to do a full wipe before flashing.
1. Factory
2. Cache partition
3. advance> dalvik cache
4. go back
5. wipe cache partition (except SD card)
Flash rom and enjoy

The DesireHD and the Inspire 4G are basically the same phone overall. So we can use its rom on our phone. Tho some custom roms in DesireHD may require flashing InspireMod.05 after install of rom. But I dont bother with the inspiremod cause I have not had any issues with the roms.
The best Rom I have ever used is Virtuous Affinity. Not lagging, very stable, good battery life, sense.

[Q] BMM, remove ROM from System 2

I recently installed LiquidSmooth on System 2 to test out a Kexec ROM and it turns out I'm one of the unlucky ones. What is the proper way to go about removing that ROM from System 2? Or should I just leave it alone?
I see that there are people that suggest running the ROM on system 3-6, I may give that a go too.
Since we don't have /emmc partition we ae using /data for multibooting. So just wipe data. Make sure you have main rom installed.
Great, I'll give it a go!
Edit: Damnit, I re-read the first post in LiquidSmooth and there happens to be a section for amateurs like myself for multi-booting. And of course I did it wrong! Ugh. I guess at least I didn't train-wreck my phone.
